I'm still amazed at both of your's ability to recognize actors so quickly and accurately! What a great reaction! So many reactors miss a lot of the jokes
So nice to watch this alongside people who are old enough to actually GET the cultural references! Even so, Kathy Kinney (the nurse) I recognize from the Drew Cary Show. Frank's father, the butcher, is played by Bill Murray's older brother. Frank's brother is played by another of Bill's brothers, and there's a THIRD Murray brother in the scenes at Frank's brother's home (the one nearest the camera, in the dark brown sweater). Frank's brother's wife is played by Wendie Malik, a central cast member of a number of sitcom TV shows. Carol Kane was also Miracle Max's wife in "The Princess Bride" and Grandmama in "Addams Family Values". Also Simka, wife of Latka on the sitcom TV series "Taxi". The homeless guy who freezes to death is played by longtime character actor Michael J. Pollard. Did a LOT of TV series and film work. The other homeless guy who speaks to him in the Shelter is Logan Ramsey, another fine actor. Carried a full episode of the original Star Trek TV show, back in the day. The homeless woman in the Shelter is actually Logan's real-life wife Anne Ramsey, a fine actor in her own right. Best known for the Mama in the film "Throw Mama From the Train", starring Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito (film comedy based on Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train"). Robert Mitchum was indeed a Big Name Hollywood actor. He did a lot of macho roles from the 1940s onward, mainly cowboys, soldiers, pioneers, and hard-nosed detectives. His career ended almost before it started, due to an arrest for possession of marijuana in 1948. For some considerable time afterwards, the only roles he could get were for villains and degenerates. Towards the end of this period, he made "River of No Return" (1954) with Marilyn Monroe, which won an Academy Award nomination (Mitchum also sang the film's theme song over the credits). In 1958 Mitchum wrote, starred in, and released his singing the theme for "Thunder Road" about moonshining in the US South; Mitchum's son James played Mitchum's character's brother in the film. One of the screen writers named was Michael O'Donoghue; he was a writer for National Lampoon magazine and for SNL. Merry Christmas to you!🎄 And Happy New Year!🎉
Connection: Wendie Malik voiced Chicha, pacha's wife in _The Emperor's New Groove,_ my _other_ favorite movie about an absolutely horrible person we wind up rooting for. (If she had been in _The Producers_ it would have been a trifecta.)
The ghost of Christmas Past (the cab driver) was played by David Johansen, the lead singer of The New York Dolls and also known as Buster Poindexter. John Forsyth was in Dynasty but was also the voice of Charlie in Charlie's Angels.
Forsythe was also in movies like "The Trouble With Harry", "In Cold Blood" and "...And Justice For All". He was also the lead in the sitcoms "Bachelor Father" and "The Powers That Be".
David Johansen as Buster Poindexter released the music video for his song "Hot, Hot, Hot" around the same time as this film. Bill Murray shows up in it in cameo.
That's the same info I posted on another reaction to Scrooged earlier today, the exact same two people I mentioned and the same details minus Buster's hit song's name, clearly someone read it and came here to spread the knowledge LOL
Frank's old boss is *John Forsythe,* he was Blake Carrington on *Dynasty* and the voice of *Charlie* on *Charlie's Angels;* the Ghost of Christmas Past is *David Johansen,* vocalist for *New York Dolls* in the early 70's and in 1987 had a huge hit under the name *Buster Poindexter* with a cover of *Arrow's* 1982’s *Hot Hot Hot; John Houseman,* like *Bob Goulet,* was also in a *Naked Gun* movie, he's the driving instructor from the first one; *Alfre Woodard* plays an ironically different role in *Heart and Souls* (1993) starring *RDJ,* and she again had a scene with *RDJ* in *Captain America Civil War;* the guy in the control room (18:16) is *Steven Kahan,* he’s the Police Captain in *Lethal Weapon* (by *Richard Donner* also) and the woman who tells Frank that a lady died watching the promo is *Mary Ellen Trainor,* she’s the psychiatrist who’s always being mocked by Riggs, she's also the mom in *The Goonies* (another *Donner* film) and has a role in *Die Hard.* Most people won't get the *Richard Burton* joke but he and *Bill Murray* do look like they could be relatives.
This was a classic for me growing up in the 90's. I used to watch it every year, but I think I was too small to understand most of it. Still holds up and is funny to this day.
It’s great to watch people who get the references and are familiar with the guest stars in this movie ❤️💚 Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Christmas movies!
John Houseman was a famous actor but also a great and much sought after teacher of the craft. A couple of names he taught in the same class you might recognize, Christopher Reeves and Robin Williams,
Bad clams goes back to a late 70s SNL sketch with Murray called Bad Clams, it was really weird, just people eating clams and saying these are some really bad clams.
Yay for the 50s version with Alastair Sim! My favorite too, but I also love this ine and the Muppets. Can't believe you both got the Richard Pryor joke!
The only version of A Christmas Carol besides the 1951 Alastair Sim version that I watch every year because it’s different, modern(ish) and just a good movie. When Carol Kane shows up, I know we’re in good hands and that Trump Tower joke was hilarious and way ahead of its time. It’s funny while still keeping the darker horror stuff that is in the Dickens novels. It’s a black comedy if there ever was one. 😂 It’s hard to beat Bill Murray and Karen Allen from Indiana Jones.
I think the Trump Tower joke was written by the late Michael O'Donoghue, who was the first head writer on Saturday Night Live (he and Murray were friends). If you were a native New Yorker around Trump's heyday, you knew he was a clown. Too bad the rest of the country was slow on the uptake.
You and your mom gotta check out "The Ref" it came out in 1994. I watched it for the first time last year. It's the one Christmas movie everyone should start watching. It's very funny.
a shame you're not watching the french 1989 version of Home Alone 3615 code Père Noël also known as Deadly Games, Dial Code Santa Claus, Game Over, and Hide and Freak
5:16 "Capitalism at its finest"...when you try to find a way to make money off of the love that people have for their pets. Could be worse tho...movie could be in NoKo under their system and folks just eat all the pets. ROFLMAO Sometimes, the 100 percent reflexive and unthinking anti capitalism is actually really funny. 😂😂
If you want a great NYC comedy movie, I suggest "Quick Change". A relatively forgotten Bill Murray classic with a great cast and a great premise. You'll both love it.

John Forsythe (Bill Murray's dead boss), played Blake Carrington on Dynasty, and was also Charlie on Charlie's Angels. HIs career spanned decades.
The street musicians are Miles Davis Pat Metheney (legend) and Dave’s piano guy

The actor who plays Frank's brother is Bill Murray's other real life brother.
John Murray.
Also the one who played his brother's friend is Bill Murray's other real life brother Joel Murray.
The actor you didn't know was Robert Mitchum.
You beat me to it 👍 I got his name wrong and thought it was Kirk Douglas when someone else reacted to this a couple of days ago.

Steve Kahan was Rick Donner's cousin. They look alike, BTW

Robert Mitcham played the boss.
Fun one, you two! I crack up every time Carol Kane whacks him with that toaster! 😆 Thanks for sharing this one. Merry Christmas!! 😊🧑🎄🌲
John Houseman died several weeks before "Scrooged" was released into theatres.
I knew this film before I ever learned about like the source material or any version closer to it.... always loved it!!!!!
Merry Christmas and thank you for letting us watch with you!
I’m not a big Bill Murray here either but this is one of my favorite Christmas movies and one I try to watch every year.
The actress who plays the nurse also played Mimi on the Drew Carey Show.
16:46 'Yeah, Buddy. I'm crazy!' Said to Buddy Hackett. I always wonder if little things like this are planned.
It’s great to watch people who get the references and are familiar with the guest stars in this movie ❤️💚 Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Christmas movies!
John Houseman was a famous actor but also a great and much sought after teacher of the craft. A couple of names he taught in the same class you might recognize, Christopher Reeves and Robin Williams,
Don't forget Karen Allen, Robert Mitchum and Bobcat Goldthwait are in this.
And just wait for the ghosts!
Bad clams goes back to a late 70s SNL sketch with Murray called Bad Clams, it was really weird, just people eating clams and saying these are some really bad clams.
Hmm.
One of the best Christmas Carol adaptations! So glad you two watched it. Happy Christmas to all!
❤
Merry Christmas to Flix2Us
One of my favorite Christmas movies especially the end. Lovely. Merry Christmas!! All the very best.
❤
A 1980's retelling of A Christmas Carol, only with a heartless New York yuppie as the main antagonist, played by Bill Murray.
Yay for the 50s version with Alastair Sim! My favorite too, but I also love this ine and the Muppets. Can't believe you both got the Richard Pryor joke!
Long time since I saw this one! I was in choir with the girl who played John Forsythe's secretary, Stella Hall. Crazy film!!
31:43 You mention Gregory Peck Jen, well he did star alongside Robert Mitchum who played Max Cady in the original 'Cape Fear' in 1962
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
Happy Christmas guys!!! Thanks for all the fun reactions! Blessings and happy thoughts! 😇🙏🎄☃️🤗🎁🎉🎊

My favorite adaption of Christmas Carol, Bill Murray was perfect for this. Just one I watch every year
I think your mom would really like Bill Murray in _Kingpin._
I think this is my 2nd favorite iteration of The Christmas Carol after Muppets Christmas Carol :)
9:10 that's the lady from all kinds of movies like The Goonies, Lethal Weapon 1-3, The Monster Squad, etc.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas all the way from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean...Love you Reactions...Looking forward to seeing you guys in 2024
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you, as well! ❤️
❤
I love the Albert Finney version the best.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!!!
Same to you!
❤
For the soundtrack, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" was recorded by Annie Lennox and Al Green:

You and your mom need to check out St. Vincent with Bill Murray she might just change her mind about him, one of his best roles
a shame you're not watching the french 1989 version of Home Alone
