Actually, the insect theme is very similar to Alice Cooper's "Black Widow" from 1975. I'm pretty sure he got some inspiration from that. Here's a quote from the opening speech (by Vincent Price): "I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling demented child-king long enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Black Widow shall rise as his most fitting successor!"
I'm sure there's a group of sad old men who are completely out of the loop in modern society, then teamed up to dislike every single awesome video on the internet.
and women, thank you very much! big would be beehive hardos, but without the honesty in actually HAVING bees in some kind of mobile hive carried on the head sort of deal. Might mess up their navigation circle-wiggle-dances though.
Bill.. you are my absolute hero... and I always turn to you to cheer me up when life seems impossible.. which for the past year has seemed so impossible.. do you do 1 to 1 therapy 🤔 ❤😂
I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them as a trusted TV personality I could be helpful to round up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.
I've always suspected spiders as traitors. Especially the ones that sit motionless in the corner of your ceiling. They're waiting, planning for something. What do they eat?
+YoloSwag fish Haha thanks for that, adds another layer of hilarity to it. "yeah utilities auto loans shock and stuff the movie videos messing with it"
Human sleeps in an insect nation, oh Human slaves in an inn signature, oh He sleeps in an insemination I never realised the second chorus was so deep...
It's an interesting moment, but at 0:52 the song elevates itself from cool to legendary, reminds me of the moment Yoda shows himself to be the Jedi, and his whole demeanor changes. The music becomes deeper and more rounded, the vocals being sung become tighter and more serious, the drums give it more depth, whole things just suddenly goes up in quality.
haha yeah it's part of the joke just before this video starts, when Bill tries to get them to wear these ridiculous mic headsets. he looks a lot happier when they do the cockney rock medley lol
Ahhh the "ahh ahh ah ah ahhh" bit is WAAAAY too close to Gates of Babylon by Rainbow for me to enjoy this properly without wanting to listen to Rainbow instead ha
This has been stuck in my head for over 15 years.
Ahh ah-ah-ah- Ahh.
Any time a spider comes into my room I’m always reminded what in a war they would side with the insects
Same
this will link us forever you and I, unknown stranger that is not an insect :)
How are you doing now
This actually sounds like some prog rock from the 70s & 80s. He knows what he's doing, that man Bill.

I took it as a bit of a spoof on the War if the Worlds concept album.
From about 2m 20s reminds me of Steely Dan, and before that (and bits after) of Pink Floyd!
Peter Gabriel watched this and cursed this beardy balding man.
@@joegrimes9232 I wonder if Peter stole his hairstyle from Bill
Absolute genius this guy.
This really is a brilliant song. So many different melodies he effortless transitions between without breaking the harmony of the song.
i cannot get 'Human slaves, in an insect nation!' out of my head :')
uh ah uh aahhhh

Never! EDF! EDF!
can't get tired of this song
I'm ashamed to admit that I only discovered Bill Bailey last year 😔 Now I'm hooked on his work 😄
I'm sure there's a group of sad old men who are completely out of the loop in modern society, then teamed up to dislike every single awesome video on the internet.
They're the insects.
sad old men> more like sad snowflakes sitting around waiting for an identity politics demonstration to attend..
To be fair, there's not even 30 of them. There are great swarms of people who appreciate true art like this.
and women, thank you very much! big would be beehive hardos, but without the honesty in actually HAVING bees in some kind of mobile hive carried on the head sort of deal. Might mess up their navigation circle-wiggle-dances though.
Cosmic Jam was the first time I came across Bill Bailey and I've never forgotten. Legend.

@@fahrigonzo Better late than never :)
@@SarahWeisters made my day (several days actually)
bill bailey is the only thing that can stop a bad trip =]
I get too scared by the though of being a human slave in an insect nation
Shhhh... still tripping here.
I heard this on the radio about 13 years ago, this is me now searching it as its still in my head.
This is a masterpiece.
He's right, the spiders would totally side with the insects. Traitors.
Traitors? Humans had it coming! Can't count the number of times a girl asked me to crush a spider because "It's ugly" or "scary".
Spineless fuckers
The fuckin bastard's
Crustaceans will also side with the insects
traitors traitors lobster traitors
Bunch of untrustworthy arachnids!
One of your best works Mr Bailey! Love it all!
Fucking masterpiece. What a brilliant (Billiant?) human being this guy is.
In an insect nation.
Bill.. you are my absolute hero... and I always turn to you to cheer me up when life seems impossible.. which for the past year has seemed so impossible.. do you do 1 to 1 therapy 🤔 ❤😂
I learn as much from Bill as i do from Rick Beato!
I’m so glad I found this again! I heard it when I was younger but couldn’t find a video of it back then so just assumed I imagined it lol
How has this not become a prog rock album concept.
I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them as a trusted TV personality I could be helpful to round up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.
The transcript has to be viewed! Even more laughs.
Adorable Bill - unique and unquestionably best musician!
I love you so much for this Bill Bailey
Almost forgot to listen to this this week.

Introduced to this song through the Look Out Sir! 40K podcast. Funny song.

"Imagne the nightmare of having an insect boss. Going to work, goodmorning mester Wasp, AAAAHH! :-P
What's the office buzz ? Stinging comments !
Given my sense of humor I'm surprised I only recently discovered Bill Bailey.
Welcome to the insect nation, I saw this when I was 7 and just remembered it now lol
"Where did we all go wrong?"

Best part 😂
I feel like charlie day and bill bailey would make beautiful music together.
Perfect observation
Wonder how many musicians are guilty of the embarrassing happy dance when they get a gig with this man.
I love Bill Bailey!
This is what happens when you drop acid while watching bugs life and listening to Jeff Wayne's war of the worlds.
4:47 and some cockney rock, brill :-)
Imagine the nightmare of having an insect boss
Going into Work
"Good morning, Mr Wasp"

You heard him folks, so join the Mobile Infantry today!
Would you like to learn more?
just realized this is the theme for "Is it Bill Bailey?"
Prog legend
this is awesome

I have only one thing to say: "Ah-HA-AH-ah-ah-ah!"

Lovely analogy. Epic song. 🦗
Empty juice carton in one hand, sheet of kitchen roll in the other. I am ready for war!
That awkward moment when you misread insect as insest

haha it's like a musical in 6 minutes.
The 8 dislikes Defo spiders.
Just one spider using each of its legs!
Its only the fucking spiders that keeping the bastards down. Without spiders we would be knee deep in flies in a week or so!
This is so Zappa
Bill was a ginger?! Love!

I love that drummer. He gives no shits.
Gets me every single time. I actually have a boss called mr. Wasp! I dont, i made it up for comedic intent. Failed
well you started it!
Does Bill write for Charlie Kelly?
Adam Ant is touring again - I am siding with the Insects!
there it is. no thats not it..... that reminds me of another song. cant think what
He makes a point about spiders not being insects then goes on to include crabs and worms
That moment when I go to like the video but it already has 666 upvotes...
we need trees, not factories!
What about the worms, eh? 😆
This could easily be a Devin Townsend song, one to one
haha yeah it's part of the joke just before this video starts, when Bill tries to get them to wear these ridiculous mic headsets. he looks a lot happier when they do the cockney rock medley lol
back when bill bailey was still funny.... wait, he still is!
prog rock comedy...progedy if you like.😁

Ants will win!
@DanielMumby I think that's just his style
Crabs will be coming back with the head lice too

Hah, such a hippy in 96.
Reading Silent Earth by Dave Goulson in Sept 2024, and we are still getting deeper into the sixth extinction every day..
It's like Tim Minchin's Plastic Bags! ...In a few ways!!!
No but seriously, fuck the spiders.
2:40 Bill Bailey invents Angry Birds in 1996
he said "angry bugs"
Boosh as
Bill Bailey in his younger days was a British Tim Minchin
Or is it the other way around?
Tim Minchin is British tho

He should team up with Kevin Smith.
id side with insects tbh
Then the bats came along from China and changed the human world forever😱😱😱😢
They were framed.
I want him to duet with Tim Minchin. It'll be insane.
sounds like it's based on Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
Nice one Bill - although the drummer looks as though he really doesn't want to be there
Metaphor for racists.
