    Hey guys! I've been getting into animation recently and I thought I'd check out some of the free programs since animation programs can be so pricey. @ - @ I'm mad annoyed that Adobe raised the price on their app subscription. Oh also I recorded the voiceover for this one before the Friday video which is why it sounds like I'm suddenly sick again. :>

    For color fills in GP that palette on the right has your materials or line colors, that grey solid is a fill. You can add solids by adding a new material and changing the alpha of the line to 0 and fill to 1. I know it’s nuts but once you start to get used to it it becomes amazing. Make sure you do fills on a separate layer, layers are in the pencil palette. Also scroll mousewheel on the key frame window will “Zoom” in so you can grab key frames easier. Hold down shift to select multiple key frames. Oh and you can change the opacity and thickness of a line even after you inked everything. Nice video!

      You can manage these backups in the Edit >> Preferences (System/Files tab)
      In the timeline/dopesheet with the keys, press ctrl+select (left or right click) to select multiple keyframes on either side of the current frame indicator-line.

    I used pencil 2D for a my passion project at school (basically where everyone chooses their own skill that they wanna learn and they learn it), and I HATED it!!!!!! At first, I thought it was super cool but it began to glitch out after a while. It would turn the whole canvas red even when I clicked blue, it would randomly crash and make me start my project all over again, the copy and paste features were VERY strange and didn’t work for half the time and did the rest and UGH. Plus, back then I was a total beginner without any experience, so I thought I just sucked at animation and thought that I wasn’t good enough. I couldn’t even use a different program since that’s the only one on or school computers. Oof I don’t feel like writing anymore cuz no ones gonna see this anyways k byeeee
    Edit: It has been a quite a while since I used this program and it has come to my attention that some of these bugs have been fixed XP

      @thegeekaccountyoushouldign5679 5 років тому +17

      Yeah, pencil2d was TRASH. But I got the recent update after seeing this video, and it's pretty good now, they've fixed those problems (in fact they mentioned patching the crash problem) and made it easier to add keyframes. I've made like 10 seconds of rough animation in less than a day with the current version, that's insane, I used to only get about 3 seconds worth MAX before I had to leave it because it was so terrible. But yeah, that kind of school project is the absolute WORST. You have to research something before you learn it even if you pick up on things yourself.

      Hi Jenna. We're really sorry to hear about your experience with Pencil2D. First and foremost it's important that you or anyone else that reads this never think about themselves as being bad at something because the tools are not working correctly. We will continue improving the software as best as we can so people like you don't have to experience such hardships. We recall the red canvas bug, which was fixed (quite literally) years ago, so it seems this was in the distant past, but no matter what we aren't simply making the software to "ship it", we also want users to enjoy learning animation with it, so hopefully we can improve on that in the future so you and others not only give the app a second chance but also find it joyful to animate again.

    The Grease pencil basically uses vector graphics. For this reason, the fill tool creates a stroke, the material has to have a fill colour set to get the expected behavior of a fill.
