I agree with you on the length of the song. On first listen I kept thinking "So it's gonna end now, right?" and then it just kept going.

The thing with Kirk is we know he has it in him to write good shit. His solo recordings he released last year were so good and I feel like James and Lars hold him back to this more stock-like solo techhnique. Lars loves wah and I wish Kirk would branch out on these solos.

pretty sure it was when they were recording Death Mag that Kirk had wrote a solo for a track, came in and showed it to Lars when he was recording the solo for the song, and Lars complained that it sounded 'written' as opposed to being in the moment with the recording. I dont think Lars should have that much input into Kirks solos as I honestly think this might be a recurring theme since the Black album. And the fact that without a guiding hand (Bob Rock was a massive influence in direction for Unforgivens solo) Kirk reverts to what he is comfortable with. It such a shame as in his prime in the 80s, he was a completely different in terms of creativity and impact.
KIRK loves wah, hes said in numerous interviews that he'll use the wah pedal as much as he damn well pleases and that he does it for himself, idk where you got any of that besides your own imagination
There are literally numerous videos from death magnetic and hardwired where Lars wants Kirk to use more wah. You actually made shit up that you think i said lmao. i never once said Kirk doesnt like wah, you made that shit up. all i said was i wish he would write more solos like he made in his solo EPs, and i mentioned lars likes wah a ton. that doesnt mean i think kirk HATES wah. fucking relax and get better reading comprehension lmao@@BabyDiamond18

Big time grower for me. I didn't like it at first but its a banger.
Yeah. Kirk has phoned it in hard the last two albums. I almost cringe whenever I feel a solo section coming up. It’s predictable at this point. Let’s do some bends, add some wah, shred up and down the fretboard and move on. Summarizes every solo lately. It feels like he’s not even playing to the same song, like he records a bunch of random shit and they just cut it up and paste it into every song. It’s sad because he’s capable of much better if his solo album is anything to go by.
Yes it does suck compared to his old stuff, but without hating on Lars, it seems like he is a massive influence on Kirks playing on the albums since DM at least.
