i absolutely LOVE the attention the birds get on this show. Usually people forget about them in favor of more "relatable" animals that are less alien and easier to read. I've heard it said that birds are boring, all they do is talk, and you can't cuddle with them at all. I'm so, so glad that you guys really give a fair chance to all of your animals and that you don't play favorites. Even your animals that silly people consider "disposable" are loved and nurtured and entertained and that's why whenever I see a vid by you guys I get so excited because I get to see caring people with happy animals who will all have their needs met.

+GillieBird As much as I love birds, especially parrot types, this is the reason why I advocate against having birds as pets. Most of the time, people want them because they're exotic, not because they actually make good pets. They are harder to relate to, and people get intimidated by not being able to read them right off the bat like they can with dogs.
I have pictures that confirm that some parrot type birds do enjoy cuddles.

Jesse could have just said, "Joy loves it sooo much," but she's always honest with us and I really value that trait.
I get what you mean when you say it's a double gift when you get to give joy a new cage; I LOVE giving my pets things. For Christmas, when my friends ask me what I want, I generally just say pet toys because that's one thing guaranteed to make me happy: making my pets happy.
Seeing you happy makes me happy. Both because you deserve to be happy for all the good work you do, and because your happiness is a direct result of happier animals, which is great as well! Becoming a Patreon of you guys was one of the best decisions in the last couple of years. Tied with quiting smoking, I think. ;)

+John Geraghty Thanks for the suggestion. We try to get outside when the weather cooperates, or the Reptile Room when appropriate. The sound and lighting is pretty terrible in the Reptile Room though which is why we shoot where we do. It's the quietest corner at Animal Wonders :)

Yay for new enclosures! :D This does bring up something I have been wondering about, is there anything important to know when moving a bird into a new cage? And what about introducing a new bird? I have a budgie, and would love to get another one to keep him company, but that would also mean I need a bigger cage.
Trying to purchase a couple of items on your wishlist.. the one from Petco says it can't be shipped to your address but I've contacted them in order to sort it out.. hopefully. It could be because I'm in the UK but I do pick your shipping address.. so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Wouldn't all the birds be even happier in something much larger, like a single large aviary for all of them with room for them to do more than just hop from place to place? I would think that them exercising those flight muscles as much as possible would be good for their overall health, much like people getting off their butts and going for walks can improve one's own life.
The room you walked into was pretty decently sized, but all the birds were off in smaller spaces inside it. Of course you probably just open their doors in that room and let them all roam around :)
+Daemonstorm Animations Most of the the birds don't get along and would injure each other if I allowed free contact with just one large space for all. I would absolutely love to give them all huge aviary sized enclosures, but I'm limited by the amount of temperature controlled space we have. We're always looking to expand and upgrade wherever possible and building new buildings are always a dream when we plan fundraisers.
In order to get them all out and about exercising and experiencing the world outside their enclosures, we bring them out one or two at a time and interact with them outside when it's warm enough or inside when it's too cold. Many of them travel to public presentations and are very stimulated by playing and interacting with audiences. Some fly in the shows and some enjoy just pretending to fly by holding onto my finger as I run around the room like a crazy woman :)

It's annoying to have half the video be about channel support stuff every single time, sure (so please don't start doing that!), but I think if you mention it once or twice and maybe start putting the link in the video itself, people would really love to have an easy way to give cool one-off donations that they know will be useful. I only discovered it a couple of months ago, and I've been watching since the channel started. Maybe I'm just unobservant :P

I was actually thinking of buying a macaw myself but I still don't know what type of cage should be god enough for he/her. what do you think would be a perfect fit for them? and what type of toys do you think I should get for them as well? i think you got something wrong. they don't actually sell any animals. they rescue them and use them to raise awareness^^
If you want a Macaw it might be easier to look closer to home!
It's kinda sad that people would spend thousands of dollars on a macaw and then not treat it so well. :(

+Aakash “rockstar” Dookhie We have larger enclosures for Cheeks, but he prefers the smaller one he has. It's not what I would recommend for all rabbits, but he's made it quite clear that he likes his small cage up high.

+duckpondwithoutducks Talk to them, read a book out loud, dance to music, exercise, play a board or card game. Anything that gets you making noise or moving will entertain them.
