  • Good Gracious! the aperture is all over the place in this video. I'll do better next time!!!!
FYI, I was sent this product for free to try out. But I was not paid to make any comments, they are all my own. The good and the bad. I did my best to be completely honest and I hope it helps you make a decision!

On that note, I myself got an Intuos Draw. I have a _constant_ feeling that I'm not using the 4 buttons it has propperly. And I'm not sure but I believe I'm not alone at this.
eg: binding those to errase or creating new layers or whatever, i just feel I could be doing _so much more_ with those.

Just install the drivers and draw! I never use any of the buttons. I just draw draw draw!

also that's a good idea for you to do GIMP tuts! I gave up on learning GIMP once I got SAI. overall, nice review on the tablet

i gave up on learning gimp and sai when i moved to mac and krita is a real mess for beginners so i got firealpaca a really good program but it doesn't work on linux and this year i'm moving another time to linux for school huh :/

    • @omarbenaidy7355

fire alpaca is the best because of the tools it provides but honestly sai is far more better in drawing mode only i mean by that the stabilizer and other stuff that are simple but effective

Took me like two years to realize what the eraser tip did haha. I didn't realize that I didn't have the eraser nib actually set to eraser and instead it was set to a normal brush and i was like 'well this is dumb' and never used it again, until i accidentally figured out how to actually use it as an eraser. I'm dumb haha.

I never used the eraser fewture anyway. I set eraser to one of the buttons on the pen so that I don't even need to flip the pen. Maybe it'll help someone.

I know how it feels to uninstall and reinstall drivers and go through tons of trouble and stuff. My wacom bamboo create likes to decide to stop having pressure sensitivity whenever it feels like it. I might consider getting this brand because of the cost effectiveness!

      @drawingwiffwaffles  7 років тому +10

+Mikayla Smith yeah. My Wacom does that on occasion too. There is a neat trick to fix it faster if you Google It. I'm sure the tutorial will come up.

Mikayla Smith Same here! I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun and the sensitivity disappears every few months and I have to re-search it up every single time because by the next time I forget how to fix it lol

    • @user-kq4sn6qq4x

      Mikayla Smith Wacom driver misbehaving?
      Fix for windows pcs
One. In the bottom left corner of your screen with the windows icon type in services or services.msc
Two. Find the thing called tablet services Wacom or Wacom professional services or something like that
Three. Right click on it and press restart
      Now it should work

I was so excited to see this in my feed because I've been interested in Huion tablets for a while! Currently I've been using a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet handed down from my sister and it's still doing me well.
I used to use the eraser side a lot too until it actually started hurting my hand too much. I make too many mistakes when I draw so I switched between the pen and eraser sides like 5 times in probably less than a second for most of my drawings and it really started to hurt my hand lol so I ended up changing one of my side buttons to an eraser which was much more convenient for me.
After a while I ended up replacing my eraser button for the eyedropper so I resorted to having my left hand on the keyboard at all times for that handy dandy ctrl+z. With that said I really lit up when I saw all those hotkey buttons on the side! That looks like heaven to me! Honestly, stretching five fingers out on several keys and having your keyboard on the desk and your tablet plugged in and resting on your knees because there's no room isn't the most ideal drawing position. So really, I'm just like drooling at those hotkeys!
This tablet looks pretty great especially for a beginner and especially for the price! I'm in no need for a new tablet right now, if I was to get one I'd want an upgrade and check out some of their tablets which have the screens you can draw on (I really want one) but if my tablet ever breaks and I need a cheap, upgraded replacement, this seems like a pretty great option.

  • @AuburnnSkies

Wacom really does make some quality products. I recently bit the bullet on a $350 Intuos Pro Medium (2017), and love it. Build is great, pen is probably one of the best out there, express keys are great and the touch-ring is supremely convenient. Some driver errors every once in a while, but that's always been a problem.
But it's fantastic to see real competition at competitive prices. The working area on this is roundabout the size of my entire tablet, pen seems weird, but if it works, it works. Wacom does make quality products, but they also make expensive products, and overpriced products at that, because they've got the market on lock. If more young and aspiring artists can become established and successful artists using these alternatives, and recommend it to their own fans, I think we'll see some really beneficial changes all across the market.

can you do something like comparing art Programs. Like trying to find a cheap alternative to photoshop. you can use softwares like FireAlpaca, Gimp, and any other art programs. I feel like this would be a cool idea to help beginner digital artists find a good program to draw on If they Cant spend money on Photoshop!

Unicorn Gaming The closest alternative to PS would be Clip Studio Paint. It's like, $50-60 but on sale for only $15-20 (I got mine for 15€ during the 75% off sale). Unlike PS which is mostly for Photo editing, CSP is 100% a drawing program and has almost all the same tools plus more as PS.

I had the Axiotron (sp) conversion done to my macbook and it was hard to get used to but I had waited until the cost dropped below 2K so I was a real late adopter, but it became my favorite way to draw in PS and every other drawing program I used at the time. I am trying to get back to traditional art methods (paper or canvas). So sweet demo and I hope to never use it, but for those looking, it was very well done!

So do these tablets store the work itself and also store them in the actual processes in which they were drawn?
You said these were some old sketches but it looked like you were drawing them live. Were you redrawing them or does this actually store not only the drawing but like a little movie of it being drawn as more things are added.
If I draw a house, does this also store each movement of my pen in the order it was drawn? Or is it only live drawing with a screen capture program?

Does it come with the Wireless Adaptor or do you need to but it seperately like Wacom's Intous?

Wacom does also have much cheaper options recently, they have a new intuos line (intuos art, comic, photo, etc) where they're essentially made as an introduction tablet. they come in small and medium, (6x3 and 8x5) for $99 and $199 respectively. granted they are much smaller than this one is, but for those who don't want or need such a big tablet it's a good option, and you get the pen with an eraser end. although I don't think they come with pen stands anymore, they've replaced those with a pen case that holds your pen and some replacement nibs. (I'm not sure if it comes with the case though, I know the more expensive options do)

Do you have any tips on practicing anatomy and posing? I figure draw all of the time and when I normally draw, you can barely tell I know a thing.

Do you think I should get the Huion H420 Grapic Art Tablet? I found a really cheap price for it on Amazon for $40 with the travel kit and two finger glove and all. Of course, I will have to work to get the money, but I am pretty excited. I am aware it doesn't work with Gimp, but it does work with FireAlpaca, which I mainly use. The only downside is the size and it being REAL smol. About 4" by 3"??? Idk but, it is smol. I think it is cute tho!

I myself have a drawing tablet and it's pretty good. it was only seventy dollars and I personally approve of it. I have an XP Pen star05 and it doesn't have an eraser tip. I got used to it fast.

Hey! So, my wacom tablet has stopped working all together and Ive tried everything to fix it to no avail, and I think the driver is the problem. Ive installed the new driver many times for it, yet my tablet doesnt show up in the "device manager" and when I plug my tablet in, it says its not plugged in. So i was wondering if anyone knew ... if I get this huion instead, will it work because it has a different driver than the wacom?
-I need an answer kind of fast, im getting a tablet for my birthday and if it wont work, then I dont want to waste the money.-

I think I would be making little sticker or tape some drawings of the different tools in photoshop to put on the hotkeys, and just use those to change between the different. Perhaps you only use a few of them though? I was really surprised you wanted the eraser! I only use ctrl+z, but I guess we are all different! I would just put my upper pen button to the pen tool, and the lower to the eraser, and it will be quick to switch between again. Anyways, Great review! Thank you for mentioning all of the things that bothered you aswell as mentioning the good suff!

    Good review... probably.
Huion put another different one on their website but for obvious reasons I didn't watch it so I have nothing to compare to; glad you covered both the pen holder and the lack of eraser, and especially the drivers as they would've pissed me off probably.
I want to upgrade from my Intuos as I'm tired of using my wrists only and hoping it'll both help increase my speed/workflow + more diverse movements allowing me to not fatigue quicker(I remember lots of focus in my learning stages in "ARM MOVEMENTS NOT WRIST MOVEMENTS" quoted alot). Do you think going bigger is worth it?
