I watched this without having heard or seen anything about it. I noticed nothing strange and thought it was a great time and looked fantastic.
Now I gotta drink some root beers… and watch Aliens 👽

I also prefer the theatrical cut when I watch "Aliens" - I like the ghost town feel of seeing the Hadley's Hope aftermath without seeing it beforehand.
eh i prefer the original whole stuff of Newt and her family and the rest of the people at Hadley's Hope added back in. Makes the movie feel more alive besides the stupid Marines and Ripley
I have owned this 4K for about a week. I’m going to watch it in about 20 minutes. I own Alien on 4K and that is an amazing 4K.
I got Aliens, Child’s Play (2019), and Curse of Chucky on 4K at Barnes & Noble all together a week ago.
Didn't see anything special, in fact I still prefer the DVD version
I feel the same. Just watched it tonight on my 75” Hisense uk8. I told my wife that it was the best looking 4k movie I’ve ever seen. My 11 year old saw it for the first time as well. Bad ass!

i thought i was going to notice all sorts of weird things like people were saying, but i just didn't! i thought it looked amazing! i think all the people that didn't like it are the same ones that watched the blue ray 10,000 times. i've only watched this one other time.
I’m very disappointed. First of all, the 4K does look and sound great. Unfortunately, my copy freezes right before they discover the queen. And it stops working.

It looks good, it just doesn't look like film anymore. If you're into that revisionist thing, cool! I'm glad I'll have the blu-ray, because I prefer films that were shot on film to look like film. It's still got some odd looking smoothing of surface textures that removes some of the lived-in feel some of the models and sets had, so again, glad to have both the blu-ray and the new 4k revision.

@@PlanetCHH Not at all. I just think it looks like it was shot on digital cameras (very high resolution cameras for sure, but digital nonetheless). And honestly it seems like that's what Cameron is trying to do, make his older films shot on film look like they were shot digitally. Again, I don't think it looks bad, it just doesn't look like film anymore. Looks more like Avatar to me.
@@adamsteinbacher2629 that’s fair, totally see where you’re coming from. I love film grain too so preferring the quadrilagy set is something I completely understand
I think it does have horrifying scenes, but I always have thought more action sci-fi rather than horror sci fi. The first Alien film is horror imo though
When it comes to film grain, I enjoy seeing some of it in black and white movies. It gives black and white movies atmosphere.
It's very interesting yet not surprising that absolutely nowhere in my area are stocking any of these new 4K's.
I was off today and went to Wal-Mart super early to check their steelbook stock (picked up Shivers) kinda secretly hoping at least one of the three Cameron releases would be there.
Absolutely not lol, and that went for Target and Best Buy, too. Well we all know BB's deal. My local one got rid of the one double sided movie rack they had left, it became a reality.
But yeah, every major chain when I plugged in my zip said not available in stores. I'm at the behest of Amazon lol.
Thank you! I felt the same way. Not sure what everyone is griping about. I do like film grain but I dont mind it varying from disc to disc. It would get boring if every movie had the same level of grain.

100% disagree. I'm perfectly happy with my 2010 blu ray which looks natural and filmic. I don't want my 80s movies looking like waxy video games. Apparently, that's a controversial opinion

weeks ago I bought Aliens for 4K blu ray. I only bought it because it has the old Special Extended edition of the movie along with the bonus features which i wanted the most anyway. old Laserdisc bonus featuers along with the old DVD Quad bonus features, great 4K Ultimate Edition blu for Aliens. I do remermber watching the entire Newt's family and the rest of Hadley's Hope in the movie when it was on HBO back in 1988 or 1989. That was a nice surprise for HBO to even air a special extended version of the movie back in the day
I'll get my copy tomorrow when I go home. It's waiting for me in my mailbox. I ordered a replacement case for though cause I don't like to stacked. BS. I'll still hang on to my d v d though as it's part of the quadrillogy 9 disc box set

True Lies may not be as great as Aliens but its still the best action comedy of the 1990s.

I was more mixed on Aliens, I found some shots especially on Earth looked over processed and some scenes the characters did look waxy but than other scenes especially on LV426 looked really good! I might have noticed frame rate issues once or twice! Some other reviewers did technical analyses and they determined there is no way they went back to the camera negative for this release because the image lines up perfectly with the old BLURAY release and that can't be possible if they went back to the negative because every time the negative is rescanned the position will be slightly different and one person compared the old Blu-ray of Alien to the 4K and they didn't perfectly lineup but somehow Aliens does so short of some massive technical innovation chances are very high this is just an upscale of the old BLURAY!
Have you actually seen it? It looks literally nothing like the old blu ray so how could it be an upscale? Use your brain.
@@LoganBlack-m7l Before you insult me you should have a look at this video because this person did a major analyze of the 4K (ALIENS 4K Blu-ray TEST: In-depth technical analysis of a controversial release)!
There’s no way this is simply an upscale of the old Blu-ray. I could see Cameron using technology that would have the rescan in exactly the correct position. The dude doesn’t skimp when it comes to using cutting edge technology; he’s not one to cut corners (aside from using the bad 3D scan for the T2 4K Blu-ray).
@@aaronclick6388 I never said he used the old BLURAY, It looks like they used the old scan that was used for the BLURAY and upscaled it! They can take old scans and upscale them to 4K and add new post processing to them, the scan could be made to look better but it will never be as good as a 4K scan from the negative! I doubt Cameron had the time to invent new technology to perfectly rescan all the negative at the exact right position if he had he would be talking about it! Terminator 2 was not Cameron's fault, they took the 3D master Cameron signed off on and used it for the 4K when it was never meant for that!
@@entertainmentwizard2703, your last sentence in your original comment literally included “…chances are very high this is just an upscale of the old BLURAY!” But upon your further explanation, I see what you mean. James Cameron’s developing new tech all the time, so a 4K rescan using new or fairly new technology is possible. But regardless, I really doubt that they just upscaled here. I’ve actually seen the new 4K, and there is so much vivid detail in the structure of the image itself that it’s very unlikely they just upscaled an existing scan. Seeing is believing, plus I believe the info is out there that this restoration involved the original camera negative (not sure on that, but no time to look into it as I have to get ready to go to work right now).
And while I am NOT a James Cameron hater, I still feel the T2 transfer is at least partially James’ fault. He should have never signed off on that atrocity-hahaha!

I just got this today along with True Lies and I thought it looked pretty decent as well, not the disaster people are making it out to be. It's definitely not for purists though. I even thought the True Lies 4K was pretty ok, although a bit brighter than what I'm used to with it.
Aliens is a horror film. It is science fiction/horror which falls under the “creature feature” category.
I disagree wholeheartedly with this. It’s not a horror film whatsoever lol. It’s a science fiction/ action film. There’s nothing “horror” about it.
These are fantastic looking 4Ks. Period! And i love film grain, these are as beautiful as his 4K of Titanic
