after some tests I figured out that FAST FORWARDING feature is only available with the button on 3.5 m cable(not on actual headphone goldy joystick ). first I thought mine was the fake one, but after carefully reading manual it almost clearly said that fast forwarding is available only with that cable.. hope that helps...

this is literally me. I just realize my headphone is fake after baffled on why I have to turn up the volume level up to 70% every time it was connected through bluetooth connection, and after checking the bluetooth codec it turns out to be SBC. I must admit that the sound so far is pretty much acceptable, so I'm not even concerned about the sound quality. I guess I wouldn't buy any headphone from ebay again lmao

I haven't opened the box but I am already suspecting it's a fake. Spotted typo whereby the words that has an "rn" is typed as "m", e.g. Califomia 🧐. Sigh. I don't know if I can return these but will try. But meantime, my question is this, would you know if fake headphones such as these be harmful to the ears? The fakes sound very good BUT the cable's jack disconnects from the body of the headphones very easily and i am constantly readjusting it .

zedx03 You’re welcome. actually all wired headphones with mic work with ps4 controller. If the mic doesn’t work, you need to plug in the jack, pull it slightly out and push it in again to make it work.

Hey, bought mine's at Amazon, i use them at work sometimes and while i'm going to different places at the bus, today while i had 10% of battery in my cellphone both ones shuted down, now that i charged my phone i tried to charge the headphones (in case that they were without battery) but they're not responding, any button it's working, now only sounds if i'm using the wire...
This is unfortunate. You may need to highlight this issue to the seller at Amazon. I hope the seller provides some product support and if they don't, you can report them to Amazon and get their account suspended.

you'll need to check if your pc supports aptx bluetooth output in the first place. If it doesn't, you'll need to get an aptX USB dongle to transmit the codec. Some Android phones like the LG G4 and G5 output aptX too and it's possible to check it in the music player's audio output settings.

Stumbled upon this vid. and I am really glad that I did but I have a question as well.... These headphones when on wire... using 3.5 mm jack connection... they sound fair but when using wirelessly/via Bluetooth.. thanks to aptX … my spotify list sounds like Mother of bliss. I'm not surprised at all. They are always trying to copy the product better. The first fakes didn't even have packaging and the cushions couldn't be swapped. You could watch my other video 'Fake vs Real Marshall MID' where I compare the accessories too. For wired version, you could check there if your audio cable (the coiled one) is fake or not.
I watched this video after deciding to order these and I am so glad I did. I got a authentic pair that sound amazing! If I had not seen this prior, I would have never known the difference

are there any possibilities these 'Fakes' are in fact 'bad batches' OR coming off from different factories/batches? just a thought thou, cos i know this is true for other products, e.g. Noctua fans..
romperdink It’s not a possibility for the following reasons
- that is basically claiming that Marshall wilfully sold defective goods to consumers while claiming these are 100% working originals, which is grounds for a class-action lawsuit. (Prolly the dumbest way to destroy their own brand.) that also wouldn’t explain the flood of ‘defective’ products into the market at 1/5th of the price of the original. This is just not standard practice in the retail business when treating defective goods.
- Marshall would still support these products under their warranty program covering defects like with every other Authentic Marshall product, but these are not. In response, some sellers provide very brief in-house warranty, or outright admit that these headphones do not have warranty coverage.
- there are much more than just one or two differences between the fakes and originals that it’s impossible that they came out from the same manufacturing process.

Yeah. Thanks for the video, man. I am one of many who got tricked by amazon seller P&A Retail. I only noticed they are fake when the bluetooth stopped working, lights and sound wouldn't indicate nothing anymore and left side just stopped sounding. Bummer.
So I'm planning on buying new ones. But until then have you ever seen a how to tix them video? They only work connected to the cable, but they are still kind of decent.

Hello . Pls help me out. I bought the Marshall major 2 bluetooth. Everything else is ok. The hinges the Qualcomm aptx is just fine. But the box says it's impedance is 64ohms where as the site says 85ohms . Can u tell if some models come with 64ohms ?
Yep they can have 64 or 85 Ohm both are correct! Not sure if Zound had a brainfart when writing the specs at first, or whether they changed the measurement standard, or whether they changed the driver mid production run, because they sometimes do silent product changes, like the first batch of Plattan is nothing like the latter batches - and it's still the "first" Plattan, plain silently redesigned it. Perhaps some of the Major II used the same driver as the Zinken just with a different amount of acoustic impedance (different back chamber design), and then they changed the driver coil to be easier to drive with a phone?
Arguably if you had the fake, the box would still list the specs of the real ones, after all, who has the gear to measure the impedance across the whole frequency range to prove them wrong? DC resistance tends to be lower anyway, and the electrical impedance figure is generally considered to be a threshold value chosen such, that across the audible range, the actual impedance is at least as high or higher for usually more than 70% of the audible frequency range if memory serves, but this also means there really isn't a universal way to measure impedance, it depends on how much of the frequency range the manufacturer wants to consider as a foundation for the measurement.
Yeah Zound Industries is a Swedish acoustic/fashion company that makes consumer products (not musician gear) under branding license from Marshall, but they have like half a dozen other brands and it stands to reason that they reuse engineering solutions back and forth between them to some extent.

hey i have a question! idk if someone can help me ! i bought a new one cause the one i had, the leather peelled of the head support and the removable cushion! i was still happy for the quality of the speaker and the battery ! when i got the new one, i realised something was wrong and i thought the new ones was fake but it kinda turns out the old ones was fake ? do someone knows if the leather pulled off of the real ones ? and if i pull out the removal cushion, the new ones has some writings behind the speaker while the old had nothing! ( the old ones dont stay in place when pulled to the side so i think now they are fake but just wanna be sure)
and last, with the old one i got an extra pair of cushion while i got none with the new. the new's cushion dont fit in the old !
and also, i feel like the older ones are heavier than the new, thats why i thought in the first place they wasnt the real ones

I appear to have one of the fake ones, but the wires on the headphones can't be removed. Honestly, I don't mind much. They work just fine and I can't really ask for more than that.
When you say "fast forwarding" do you mean skip to the next song?
Viktpanda it means to fast forward from one point of the song to another, not to skip songs.
Thanks for this video, it helped out a lot. I used this and a few reviews on Amazon to confirm I got fakes. What happened is that I chose the brown color and Amazon automatically switched the seller from "shipped from and sold by Amazon" to some other seller. This did not affect the reviews, the reviews appear to be the same regardless of which seller you chose and you have to look the seller reviews to see how good that seller and not the product reviews. I returned them and bought "shipped from and sold by Amazon" and went to the black color and got a legitimate pair. What's even better is the price dropped $5 dollars in that time. Andy lim because sg’s official marshall distributor does not sell at that price anywhere, and they’re completely out of stock of major ii bluetooth. So it’s safe to conclude that these are sellers selling fakes. Very risky.
I just got my marshalls and they're supporting apt-x. The headband looks OK, and earcups are locking. But I still don't know if they're fake or not. I bought them for 60 dollars. (I bought it from abroad so I can't teurn them and since inflation rate is incredibly high in my country, I'm not sure if this price is normal or not.) Even if it's fake, it has better sound quality then other headphones with same prices lol

Going to be honest I bought 30$ Marshall major 3 off Amazon I did know they were fake but didn't care they are not bluetooth for some reason it has two aux ports but I've had them for a month they work fine they look like real Marshall's and do have fairly good sound quality

So, I have a curious case: on the outside my major 2 has all the features you mentioned, the battery life is definitely 40+ hours, the sound volume and quality is good... but I can't select aptx codec on my phone (Nokia 6 - should support that codec). Can only switch between SBC and AAC. Now I'm not sure if it's just a really good replica or I'm doing something wrong, haha.

Thank you for the video. I remembered the time it arrived and upon unboxing, I noticed the following:
1.) The headband seemed to be somewhat loose and I have no choice but to bend it so that it will have a better clamping force.
2.) Another thing is the Left and Right signs. They have like black burned stuff, somehow like over heat-treated by a blowtorch. Lol
3.) The ear padding seems to be thinner than the original.
4.) The leather padding on the headband is somewhat like wrinkles like the one in your video and it really is annoying.
5.) The power switch is supposed to be pressed longer to power on. But mine opens just by clicking the power button without holding it.
6.) I have to agree about the sound of fake. It is muffled especially on wireless. It sounded better on wired though by a little. Also, I tried using it wireless using my friend's phone, the OnePlus 5T that has aptx HD and surprisingly, it sounded way better than on my phone(Huawei P9 has no aptx, sadly.)
7.) The ear cup won't budge when I tried removing them. Probably glued or something
8.) It does not click when folding the headphone. Somewhat loose.
So yeah, that's all my observations on my fake marshall. I even bought a Marshall case from Lazada Taobao collection, and it's really useful.
I kept on looking for this kind of video before I bought my headphones but I guess it's too late. I guess we'll only know the item's authenticity once it arrived. Anyways, thank you again for the video. I think it's time to invest to the real headphones. Next time, I'll buy directly to the Marshall website. :)
Glad the video helped validate your concerns, Brian. It's a huge pity that this has gone on for so long that many people were duped. About aptX, I think it may have been that the OnePlus 5T had a better grade of bluetooth output, because the fake Marshalls do not support aptX at all. Dear Brian Ruaro and Loud & Wireless , how to find it out using a Windows PC? I've bought and tried it using my One Plus 3T (Oxygen OS 5.0.2 on Oreo 8.0.0), but on the Developer Mode: Bluetooth Audio Codec it only showing AAC, not AptX. So I'm trying to know that mine is Original or fake using a Windows PC (I don't have any Mac) and claim the "original with money back guarantee" to the seller...

Niezken Wahyu Divilo You won’t even get AAC on the fakes, only SBC. AAC is an alternative ‘lossless’ codec from aptX (very loose explanation). Not all devices output aptX, AAC is the more common codec. Hope this helps.
Loud & Wireless well this is just my phone that not support AptX, right? So it must be original? And did you know how to check it using Windows PC? Thankyou so much for the response btw...
