7:04 - In my first year of driving, in an unfamiliar town, I joined a line of parked cars in the left lane at the red lights, waited patiently until it went green and only then realised why none of the cars in front were moving off.
I've done that too with parked cars at the approach to a roundabout, it took a while to realise they were parked illegally.
Had to reverse up, and take lane 2.
Did the same thing in Helsinki. The guy behind me realised before me and went past me.
I'm constantly amazed by people who turn someone else's error (being in the wrong lane, bad observation on lane change) into their own misconduct (aggressive horn, tailgating, flashing), and exit the situation thinking they're not the worse driver. Also @6:34 - that's a brilliant bit of diagnosing what is going on, and letting someone else recover from their own stupidity.
I generally want to just get where I am going. I figure that reacting calmly and forgiving does so best. And when I see someone driving oddly, I like them (far) in front of me, so that when they crash, my car will not be damaged and me/my family not hurt.
Stumbled across your channel by accident, very refreshing to see a dash-cam compilation where a) for the most part the camera owners are actually competent, and b) accompanied by a really constructive commentary.
6:30 It was funny (and a little worrying) seeing how many cars stopped behind mine when I'd broken down in lane 3/4 on the approach to a roundabout. The funniest were the ones that would pull up close like the car in the video, then sit there repeatedly beeping at my empty car with its hazard lights on. Meanwhile, others clocked it from far away, adjusted their lane choices, and were completely unaffected.
Yeah, I remember breaking down as a joined a roundabout, no drive stuck in neutral. Luckily there was a police car behind me and they helped push the car off the roundabout to one of the exits but while awaiting recovery, still got plenty of grief from others. I think if I was in that situation, I would open the bonnet and leave it open to show that hey I'm broken down might pop into their head.
Knowing that roundabout, the jeep in lane 3 as the lights go green is in the complete wrong lane for wanting to take that exit as well. That lane is for continuing round to the next exit

You mention "lack of police," and I totally agree. Before speed and traffic light cameras, you were never sure if there was a copper nearby somewhere. When they were introduced, people realised that it was unlikely to get caught by a copper, and only by the camera's they could see. I also think quite a few road junctions are poorly designed not helping motorists unfamiliar with lane placement.
Are the speed camera operators even police officers though? Surely they can't cost that much to employ.
Compleatly agree. When I see a speed camera, all the cars around me slow down for the camera zone. Once clear of the zone they all speed up again. Just proves that speed cameras are pointless as people know where they are.
@@landnanners2011 Which is why I say it should be illegal to show them on any device; also, they should be hidden so nobody knows where they are. That way nobody would speed; and every set of lights should have a red-light camera fitted. heck we're the most watched country on CCTV in the world so what difference would a few more traffic cameras make?

Though with the increased encouragement to submit video evidence of such driving to the police, maybe the prosecutions will increase and people will be a bit more careful as anyone could dob you in.
The clip of the broken down car at the traffic lights reminds me of a girl I used to work with. She dropped down to the local town at lunch time, but was twenty minutes late returning. When asked she finally confessed that she had pulled up in a queue, waited for a long time, wondering just what the hold up was, and then realized that she had tagged on to the end of a taxi rank!
Good mate of mine did that on his driving test. Doh!
Ten years ago I was a courier and one time in the evening I was behind a lorry who'd got stuck in the snow on a small hill going upwards. I thought it was just heavy traffic or something. Stood there 20 mins lol. Started to wonder why people kept passing me. Lorry did not have his flashers on because he was still trying to go up.
Truly shocking how someone can drive on the wrong side of the road and don't stop even after seeing the cars coming towards them. And I thought you were playing that first clip just for self gratifications sake, but what an incredibly dangerous moment to witness. Coincidently the next roundabout it will come to, where the video started, is one of the places they hold driver awareness courses!

@@letter1014 knowing that roundabout, does the beg the question 'how the F*kc did he manage that?'. Honestly, the roundabout is large, decently well laid out for the main roads (the non-main are pathetic), but they must have fought traffic to get there....

I just found your channel and it's been a massive help! My fiancé is American and visits me here in the UK few times a here when he can, and recently he's been getting rental cars. Driving here is new to him being used to the opposite side of the road and such, so I showed him your videos and it's helping him learn a lot more than I can try and teach him (I don't drive myself so I'm limited), so big thank you for being informative with a lovely calm voice!
Yeah, American here, I always have half a tick of terror when I watch English driving and their on the "wrong side". Then, oh, right.
Junction at 4:00 is on Chiswick High Road (coordinates 51.492672, -0.255549). The whole road received a new bicycle lane and layout not too long ago. When I went down as a cyclist after the new lanes opened I was also a little confused at the layout, so I can understand why that driver did that. Also, pretty big lanes!
I used to live round there and recognised the junction. That clip was definitely not the only driver to have made that mistake.
The clip at 7 minutes I've seen happen before, a car came flying up behind it with music blaring, then sat on the horn shouting until she realised the hazard lights were on. She got up so close to it she probably couldn't see them, I did have a chuckle at the time.
6:30 I've broken down a few times in awkward places. I always put the bonnet up (even if I can't do anything to get it going) as an extra warning that I'm stranded.
Whenever I encounter a difficult situation when driving, I always ask myself, "What would Ashley say?" I imagine he's sitting the passenger seat, giving me advice and judging my driving.
Indeed! There needs to be a sat nav voice narration featuring Ashley. Just hearing his voice would remind people to drive safely.
i always refer back to Ashley that way I keep calm and safe.
I do that too now! "Perfect example of locking-on you just did there" I'll tell myself now and then.

The level crossing footage shows that the signalman was paying attention to the monitor and stopped the lowering sequence so the pedestrian can clear the crossings.
I believe its automated and has a sensor on the grid. Mine do the same, and they go down every 10mins, it's unlikely someone is sat there viewing em throughout the day.
@@matthewchambers1669 nope I used to operate them in signalling centre with a monitor and you lower them by keeping your thumb on the down button, when down when the crossing is clear of vehicles and pedestrians you press the crossing clear button then clear the signals for the trains to run.
The clip at 2:00 is a road i regularly travel on and its a 70mph road (motorway) but people piss about and dawdle about, they dont pay attention and the second you get onto that bridge (which is still a 70) your doing 40 if the car pulling out had actually paid attention what happened in the video wouldnt have happened but its Indicator on and out we go...
I am completely shocked at the first clip, even more that the driver was talking about Ashley Neal, then something of total complete stupidity happens literally 15 seconds after mentioning it... I was laughing and shocked at the same time.
They probably turned right at the roundabout thinking it was a T junction and entered that road. Its bizarre to think that person passed a driving test (I assume).
Thank you for mentioning how the horn shouldn't be used as retribution! Honking when it isn't needed can be the difference between a small mistake and total road rage, and too many dash cammers don't realise this

That was some trip. Really nasty weather too. Glad you managed to get there and back ok. It never ceases to amaze me that drivers are still hammering along relying totally on the gizmos fitted to their car. Years ago I got caught out on an unlit road in horrific weather and ended up aquaplaning. Fortunately I was at a safe speed for the conditions but the car lifted and all I could hope for was the front to drop back down.
I think that you missed a brilliant teaching point when you were caught out when you were on the phone with your missus. It actually highlights that even with hands free/car play you can still be incredibly distracted. My phone blocks all incoming messages/calls when driving and I can only use the sat nav on it.
After my journey home this morning in torrential rain and poor visibility in the dark I have come to the conclusion that half the drivers should not be allowed on the roads.
Must have been near Blandford then, except it wasn't raining, that was earlier in the week.

A lot of drivers cannot adjust their driving to the road/weather conditions. half a second gap at 30mph leaves how much time if the car in front has to break suddenly even in good conditions and if you are that close how can you be watching (or even sometimes see) anything in front of the car/van/vehicle in front of you.
@@davidsomething4867 I also had someone late at night in the pitch black, poorly lit road in the torrential rain being right up my bumper so close it was literally just their bright led lights and the honda badge on their grill filling my entire rear view mirror, how on earth could they even react to any sort of harsh breaking, let alone emergency stop.

6:33 The driver probably couldn't see the silver car because the lorry was blocking the view, and when the lorry was gone, the traffic light was switching to red. They must have been thinking "WTF is that lorry doing?". Can't really blame them for taking a moment to analyse the situation and check if it's safe to switch lanes.
Hey Ashley I'd just like to say I passed my driving test this past Sunday, my instructor was excellent but your videos played a healthy part in my driver education too! Even though I'm now licensed you've got my continued viewership as I truly love your content and I do believe that anyone always has a capacity to learn and get better! 8:28 A bit harsh. They were letting them know they were there & aware of their presence. It could have easily been encouragement to keep going & clear the obstruction. They didn't overtake until the inattentive driver stuck their head out of the window! At least the cammer knew they were finally aware for the pass.
First clip is Chesterfield near me and to be honest, I'm largely a safe and conscious driver thanks almost entirely to this channel, but I was still panicking thinking is this going to be my time haha! However, even I - in my poorest moments - would not go down this the wrong way. I know the roundabout there is confusing, but come on...
I find some of the comments a little odd. 2:19 car changes lane into the path of fast car which sounds the horn. Car chaging lane now brakes making a bad situation worse but the adverse comment is against the car overtaking. 2:55. white car seeing the lorry, I would have done exactly the same as there wasn't enough room for the lorry to get by. |The lorry has to cross the centre line where the white car had been waiting. 4:20 In all probablity the driver didn't see the no entry sign so no need for the snarky comment. 8:40 Car pull out so you aren't allowed to sound a warning. Driver then dilly dallies and you mustn't sound the horn for them to hurry up.

I include "sat-nav zombies" I drive a lorry and can see in their cars. The worst ones literally have the sat nav in the centre of the windscreen 😆 just above the steering wheel. They often drive erratically and drive like they're lost (probably are) even though its telling them where to go. Does my head in.
Heads up Display, no - it does boggle the mind how they are able to cope with driving let alone taking directions from the Sat Nav 😵
there's a reason why satnav use is featured on modern tests
I view the late decision incidents as a probable dispute between the satnag and the back seat driver.
@@RichO1701e: Yeah, personally I don't really like sat-navs unless I've taken a look at the route beforehand. Even on my test, 2 of the 3 minors I got related to noticing the location of a turn late...
@@fetchstixRHD Hasn't Ashley said in a previous video that it is fine if you don't go the correct route on tests so long as you drive appropriately? There's no faults for missing a turn and having to go back around or take the long way as far as I'm aware.
Not to say that the anxiety of messing up like that can't cause problems due to the anxiety and mild panic on top of the stress of being examined.

As a professional driver, I have to say, I try to keep this in mind at all times. We're not all trained to the same standards on the roads. We don't all have the same abilities or capabilities.
Be understanding and generous with one-another, and we'll all get there in a safe and timely manner.
I got rear ended at traffic lights. My Vauxhal Carlton 2 litre plus towing hook was practically unmarked. His fibreglass bonnet was completely destroyed.. He said, "You didn't move", i said, "No, the car in front of me didn't move either". His car was wrecked.
02:16 Not sure I agree with this one. The horn is to alert other road users to your presence, which is how it was used in this instance. Driver was also braking, so clearly not one of these that thinks the horn allows them to plow through. The horn does not always mean aggression

Maybe I was on the horn a touch long, but yeh, as you’ve pointed out, I was braking all the time I was on the horn and still getting closer to the car that had pulled out, so making them aware of my presence and hoping they’d abort their manoeuvre was in the interest of safety. 👍🏻

I still don't quite understand how people can get onto the wrong carriageway, the vast majority of roundabouts are designed that makes it very difficult for it to happen. I still feel we should introduce the same marking as they have in the US, were the line between directions is yellow (or perhaps a different colour as we already use yellow for restrictions), when I was driving in the US it was a good indicator to know you were driving on the correct side of the road as the yellow was always on your left, either on a 2-way road or multi lane highway.
It's probably people relying on their navigation system's instructions so much that they don't even know that the old fashioned signs are still there, and still the best thing to navigate by.
In busy traffic, if there are only lane markings, which you cannot see because they are covered by cars, and you are an unfamiliar district, it can be very hard. Been there numerous times. Overhead signed lane markings for me are a must.

But any roundabout who enters first has right of way you cant just steam in at 60mph and say I had right of way
The curse of modern driving is people indicating as they change lanes. It’s as if they think they have right of way the instant they put the turn signal on. It happens everyday on the motorways. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy they’ve actually bothered to indicate, that’s getting rarer, but it’d be nice if they looked first.

I think you're right about the lack of policing on the roads. Remember the guys with the white caps? But I think it's a combination of factors such as attitude, lack of skill/experience.
Compulsory further training and or retesting as it's all too easy to obtain and retain a driving licence might be a solution.
I live right near clip 6 it's a nightmare junction blind on both sides with a zebra crossing and a bus stop right before it
Some scary stuff on this one Ashley, I thought we'd finished with Halloween. It worries me that some of these drivers are allowed free access to leave the house unattended.
The horn: in theory a way of warning other drivers of your presence (as per the Highway Code.) In practice: a way of shouting at other drivers as actually shouting cannot be heard from inside a car.
4:05 was just someone unfamiliar with the area and no big deal. These things happen, I wouldn't have even remembered it. The person with the phone over the level cross knows, the same as the rest of us that the barriers close quite a time ahead of the train arriving so not any risk.
It's not *just* lack of police. At times I see a lot of police presence but they completely ignore what's happening around them! One car even turned right against a red right alongside a police van, and when I pointed it out she just shrugged and smiled.
The left turns across the cyclists are power plays, pure and simple.
3:55 really good fixing by the cyclist and Renault driver behind the person making a mistake, respectably calm, obvious, straight forward and easy!
Clip 7 3:54 that's Chiswick cycle lane which, to be fair, is one of the word resigned pieces of infrastructure I've ever seen! So unclear and confusing - someone is going to get seriously injured and the council will be to blame!
6:00 - I agree ! My dad was a policeman from 1951 to 1982 and there was definitely more visibility of them on the beat back then.
In the USA, there are always police vehicles in every vicinity so few drivers get off lightly !
As someone currently working for the police you would be shocked if you knew how utterly understaffed our forces are. Not saying it's the government's fault, but it is! And the people that keep voting for them!
2:15 not main driver's fault as there was enough time for them to have been seen in the side mirror. A horn, albeit aggressive sounding, is a good tool to use to let others know where you are. I've definitely been that grey car pulling out from time to time and all the time it would be my fault for the small interaction; good practise as it forces me to look around the pillar behind me to double check. Also being in the right hand lane means you were starting to overtake, the grey car needs to wait until you and any other car behind you are clear and back in the left lane if safe to do so.
Agreed. It’s stupid to say they were in the wrong at all because then what’s the point of a horn and also the driver in front may have not noticed them and it could’ve ended badly.
8:19 - Yes, we are all human, and that's why if a mistake goes unaddressed, then as a rule unscrupulous or careless individuals learn nothing from it. Like this one; no blinker, no looking - just blindly going.

The pedestrian on the phone at the level crossing is why I am convinced that if you are moving forward, regardless of how, your attention should always be on the direction of travel. If you are using you phone in anyway, it’s safer if stationery.
See, in the rare instances I'm using my phone while walking, I'm looking up more than not. Might be sending a quick message so I just glance at my phone now and then to check that I've spelled things correctly and autocorrect hasn't screwed me.
Often when walking people looking down at their phones come close to bumping into me until I shout "look up!"
I tend to treat my walking as if I'm driving. It may seem overkill but my shoulder checks when changing direction should hopefully stop me becoming the kind of person that stops/changes direction in the middle of a crowded street!
@@JWK35 that sounds like me too! You haven’t, by any chance, done an advanced driving course as that’s where I’ve picked up much of it from, also applying it to cycling too.

First clip was the driver completely of their face? Not only was the exit they took hard to access the wrong way but they drove over HUGE GREAT road makings pointing TOWARDS them??? Very impressed with the lady in the clip, she kept the language very polite.
I do wonder if the driver already went the wrong way around the roundabout…then again a short trip away and Nottingham has a problem with drivers taking to the segregated tram tracks…
Policing is a huge point, I know they are working to a budget and looking at road policing as cost vs effectiveness but this does lead to a lot of frustration
To add to everyone elses stories even seen police forced to stop mid junction on green light cause a car was speeding through on red and they drove off like nothing ever happened.
Round covid times we had a couple of the police bikers round our city it was great, delivery cars parked on zig-zags, red light cyclists, everything.... Not that they would ticket everything every time but would at least give them a firm telling off
lack of policing is a thing. i have even saw people at lights on their phone and police next to them. both went seperate ways, one day i counted 5+ people using phones while driving and this was a short 2 mile journy to the shops

It is; but it's not the only problem we have; the other is have you watched UA-cam and seen where most of the 'accident' videos come from? Sadly it's also where far too many drivers come from too. Many lorry drivers especially down here in the southeast are Eastern European and frankly they can't drive.
6:35 Maybe (and I'm being very generous, it's really *only* maybe!) a contributory factor in that situation is the ubiquitous use of hazard lights by drivers who are doing almost anything other than following the road. They've become so widely used that I think sometimes people don't see the hazard lights as indicating a hazard (and maybe don't see them at all). Since when is parking a hazardous operation?
(And JUST IN CASE anyone misinterprets my meaning, I'm NOT suggesting that the broken vehicle was misusing their hazard lights!)

Chap in fornt of me slowed down, gently, I clocked the traffic lights were out and followed suit. Bright spark passed us at 50mph. Kudos to the Discovery driver for great observation driving.
Whoever the cyclist is. My kinda guy. He seems to be a very fair cyclists. He could have put himself in some awkward positions because he can. But seemed to appreciate there are idiot drivers, or those who simply make a mistake. Stay safe

@@ashley_nealthe person operating can make things unsafe, but the vehicle type affects the level of danger posed by their unsafe actions. Not seen many bridges damaged by careless pogo-stick riders for example!
But then motorist has to swerve for the pogo stick rider and ends up taking out a motorcyclist?! You really don't get it sometimes do you?

There is ultimately a limit to how safe you can make something that has inherent danger. It's a bit like the gun lobby in the US saying 'guns don't kill people, people do!'.

In clip 15, no mention is made of the dark van (Jeep?) that is in the bear right lane that cuts across the dozy driver to go left.
That first clip of the car going the wrong way down a dual carriageway is so dangerous. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you encounter this, you’ll know your reactions aren’t the quickest as you’re not expecting to see it and it takes a few seconds for your brain to process what you’re seeing.
Only ever met one, many years ago, and they seemed oblivious to any remonstrations/warnings from other drivers. I do wonder at what point they realise they've made a mistake, and why they don't at the very least come to a stop before trying to resolve the issue - it being far less dangerous to have a head-on while stopped than while doing 60 mph.

Just had one this week pass me on my bike then turn left. Probably didn't see the hi viz jacket and led lights in broad daylight. First time that happened to me was forty years ago,I went Starsky and Hutch style over his bonnet.Put a nice scrape on his HC Vauxhall Viva!
First clip, so satisfying that 1, they press the button on their dash cam then 2, talk about UA-cam, no mention at all about phoning the police and maybe saving a life or two, they're just as bad as the wrong direction driver, distracted by too much technology
There should be an Ashley Neal segment on TV - Top Gear or whatever it is. We all know UA-cam is the happy space to be in but TV still reaches an audience.
Imagine beeping a cyclist to get out of the cycle lane so you can drive down it.
I think it was the van behind who beeped.
To be fair, us cyclists are treated like we don't belong on the roads. We saw in this video already cars driving at cycists multiple times. It's disgusting.

look at the clip again. More carefully. The driver never wanted to drive down a cycle lane, just unfamiliar with the road and was misled by another cyclist going that way. This is just an error and can happens when the driver workload is high. The beeping was the van driver trying to warn the driver.
Absolutly right about lack of police,come to Selsey and watch the cars parked on the zig zags almost all day.I once saw THREE cars on the zig zags and crossing all at the same time.The police station is a few yards away, but still the herberts continue...
The last clip, that silver driver didn't appear to slow on approach to roundabout...
was also indicating left but went straight ahead and failed to give way at the circle marking.
Good job there weren't any pedestrians crossing at the speed he was going.
In regards to 10:35, I think a contributing factor was the sun glare but something I’ve been wondering about for a while is whether vehicles should be mandated to have headlights/running lights on at ALL times. I think headlights are helpful in avoiding these collisions even in day light
They do have to have running lights on now all new cars have had to fit quite a few years. As a motorcyclist it is common sense to me so when I'm driving my car I just leave the headlights on at all times
I always turn my headlights on when the sun is in front or behind me
regrettably had one of those "how'd he not see that?" r'bout moments this week. Exit I wanted to take was obscured from my entry, soon as it came into view there is pc plod with a road closed sign. will have to grab the footage as I'll be honest, could've handled it better
At 2:20 I don't think the driver did anything wrong. I'm not a driver but I'd say if you can't slow down quick enough, you need to honk to warn the other driver
The last clip the silver car had it’s indicator on turning to turn left but went straight ahead instead. Still the red car should have waited to make sure.
I always wait to pull out even when the car coming down is indicating to turn in. Seen it far too often that the indicator just isn't cancelled. Same if I'm the car indicating. I wont flash the waiting car to come out as I don't know what they can or cannot see.
Indicator? You must have the eyes of a Hawk, I've watched that 5 times now and still cant see that.
@@DasArab The furthest front-most point of the bumper on the side we can see contains the indicator. It's off at 10:34, on at 10:35 then off again at 10:36. Just the one flash is visible in this clip.

Glad you potted that. I couldn't for the life of me work out how that crash was even possible.
The breakdown one was in Plymouth and that roundabout is confusing for some drivers especially people not from down here in the southwest, however, I didn't expect that car to just sit behind a car with hazards 🤣 what a fool!
The clip at 4:10 is a classic example of a confusing road junction. Just look at the clutter of painted lines on the road, and traffic "planners" expect a driver who's never seen it before to take it in within a second, and establish the right line. Fortunately, the motor cyclist giving the signal and the white van driver both acted well to save the situation.
Personally, I would fire the idiot to who designed this junction.
The cammer is a pedal bike, not a motorbike (at least I think, motorbikes arent allowed in the pedal bike routes after all!)

Clip #7: There's a 'No left turn' sign under which it says 'Except in two stages'. What does this actually mean, please? Clip #15: Shout out to the driver. He should go in your 'It's nice to be nice' segment as he patiently held back until the other car realised it was behind a broken down car. Top bloke!
It's referring to the cyclists filter lane.
On the right is a cycle lane marked with a left turn arrow that leads to a dead end. The dead end is a waiting area.
Cyclists wanting to turn left must move to the right and come to a stop in the waiting area. There will be a phase in the traffic light sequence where all the lights are red except green cycle and some of the green pedestrian walk signs. When the green lights are on cyclists and pedestrians can both safely proceed with crossing the junction.

Clip 7, the no left 2 stages is for the cycle lane as both cars and bikes get same green light so turning right would mean crossing in front of cars on mains road so to go left you need to either turn right and u turn or use crossing just ahead.
It's also explained in the current Highway Code (rule 75), but personally I think the addition of a diagram would have made it a bit nicer(!)

Couldn't agree more. People don't do "the right thing" out of morality; they do it because they're afraid of the consequences.
Just yesterday, coming out of Tesco, there's two sets of lights at the junction. One for right one for left turns. Left goes green, right stays red to allow traffic from the left.
Car in front of me, Red Peugeot 106, starts going through red. Stops after being beeped. Then ignores and carries on, going through two red lights, and then cutting someone up further down...
...all the while, a large Police van is on the right-most set of lights, and does....yes, you guessed it.... _ABSOLUTELY NOTHING_.
The cops in our country couldn't care less.
I get the feeling the police see road crime as low priority, maybe a bit boring? They're quite hot on stabbings and terrorism. Yet far more people die on the roads and the fear of being killed or injured on the roads prevents many people from cycling.

@@ashley_neal I don't _always_ bring things back to cycling, but it is something I know a lot about, it's not self-centric - I drive a lot too and I did reference overall deaths & injury!
The main point I was trying to convey here, is bad driving doesn't seem to put people off driving, but it does put people off cycling. I can understand that, as the impact of bad driving certainly feels far worse when you are on a bike than when you are in a car, even if statistically you are still better off cycling than not (i.e. health benefits outweighs the risk).
The roundabout at the end of clip 1 (the car driving the wrong way) is THE example roundabout used as an “difficult” roundabout in (at least my) theory test. It showed a virtually recreated aerial view of it and then asked questions about potential hazards.
Its just funny to see it in this video as I’m baffled as to how they managed to even be on that side of the road at all.
Also I live local to Chesterfield where this roundabout is (Newbold side)and have to frequently travel around this roundabout in my lessons. It’s scary to think I potentially would have to deal with that as a learner.
Its a shame the UK doesnt have Police anymore :(

@@markj.a351 it is generally just normalisation, they do it every day so it feels normal and no longer dangerous to them to drive.
This means they become complacent, and their judgment lapses. This takes many forms like using their phone, driving aggressively, tailgating etc.

I have to agree with you about the paucity of roads policing these days. You cannot police the roads just with cameras! Not the fault of the Police as they have budget issues. A good 'talking to' by a Traffic Officer has more effect on driving behavior than a camera-generated fine which just causes resentment.
The last clip, the driver could well have been blinded by the sun (going by the shadows). However, as we all know, in such circumstances you take extreme care, not just assume and go for it.
In that first clip, I can't believe the cammer driver didn't attempt to warn the driver that he was going the wrong way, he may not have realised straight away his error. I would have been flashing my lights and hooting at him!

Ah yes, the left hook some drivers do. I hate that with a passion. They just can't wait those few seconds for me to pass the junction so they decide to cut across me instead. I've had this many times when cycling and it's usually along the same stretch of road.
It's always amusing when you see your hometown/local area on these clips
I think that this time of year in the UK is especially dangerous...the pressure on delivery drivers to meet their overloaded quotas (often with limited UK driving experience), coupled with the hazardous weather conditions and the increase in traffic around the festive period...stay safe, everyone.
We need to axe food deliveries already..
In the last clip, the silver vehicle was going too fast to have checked that there wasn't a vehicle coming from the junction directly ahead (from your perspective). If there was, they wouldn'y have seen it until it was too late.
I'm of the opinion what a great driver/rider I am when I watch what some of your contributors get up to...How some ever passed a driving test is a complete mystery...

I was driving on a busy urban motorway yesterday. The car in front of me was driving quite erratically. Every 5 seconds or so, he had to make a sudden correction to avoid veering into the hard shoulder or to the lane to the right. When I overtook him, I saw his head was looking down at his phone. This dangerous nonsense makes me furious. Easily could have killed someone with that behaviour, especially at that speed on a motorway.
It is safe to get in a bit of phone use while driving a car, but it is not safe to get in a bit of driving whilst using a phone.

Personally I think if you get caught on your phone. Instant ban and retest. If they're breaking that rule they will be breaking many more too. Maybe people should also have an aptitude test before recieving a licence.
You hit the nail on the head in clip 13, I've always said it too, there is a lack of police so more people are taking risks.
As for clip 2, I would have given a couple of short blasts of the horn to make them aware that I'm there, even though the car indicated they should not have pulled over, they don't have right of way. Again lack of respect
I also think it's society following the example of its "leaders", the government doesn't obey the law, so why should we kind of attitude, especially in the last 2-3years
I'm the driver in clip 2. In hindsight, yes, 2 short blasts of the horn may have been enough, but when you are hard on the brakes, doing 70 mph, getting closer and closer to a car that has just pulled out in front of you because they clearly haven't seen you, worrying you are going to hit them, I think it's only natural to also be doing everything in your power to try and get them to abort their manoeuvre to avoid a crash. I wasn't thinking "it's my right of way, how dare they do that", I was thinking "jesus, I might hit them". I was only sounding the horn while on the brakes.
Last clip the red car definitely in the wrong. Even though the jeep was speeding, it still has right of way
Re: phone zombies, I've been walking a lot to try and lose weight (so far so good) and I actually bought some wireless earbud things so I could listen to music while I was walking, since that's an hour and a half of empty space.
Tried it once and I felt seriously unsafe, don't know how people do it everyday and feel alright about it.
So many times I've stopped myself being run over with my ears on dodgy corners and junctions.
Should be an offence tbh, pedestrianing without due care and attention.
It's different maybe if you're walking round a park but when you're near roads you need to be paying attention for your own safety.
Ikr. I always take one earpiece out before crossing a road to help me focus on that activity.
Central Brighton is the absolute worst place for phone zombies. Every day, I encounter dozens, who blindly step out into busy traffic, then recoil in shock and surprise that there are cars that have the audacity to be driving on the road. And don't get me started on the electric scooter riders and Deliveroo mopeds. Or taxi drivers that think hazard lights are to be used in absolutely every situation imaginable.

You sound like the sort of person who doesn't need to be told how to drive sensibly, you just do it anyway (and laugh at those who feature in these videos).
The people who feature in these videos, however, mostly don't give a single F... If they ever see themselves on UA-cam, they probably just take the bragging rights and think it's funny (and will continue to drive like total bellends until something happens that irreversibly changes their lives, or someone else's).
I saw eight drivers in a row on their phones this morning. I give up speaking to them about it.
