do you need your transducer hooked up to use your units inside? for some reason my HDS7 touch won't read my touch without it hooked up in my basement..
Hi i realise this is an old video but i recently bought a used boat with a hds 9 gen 2 unit and it has version 4.5 which tells me i need the update of 6.0 my question would be does this update enhance the sonar or is it based around the engine performance and mapping and so on ,,,,,,,, i mainly want the update if it will enhance the sonar ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, would you happen to know any of that info thanks for any help you can offer
The "best" way to determine what each Software Update provides as far as features etc., is to read the addendum that is always posted on the same page as the download page. I did check and it appears that the links to the addendum no longer work as I "suspect" support for the GEN 2 product line has ended. The upgrade is primarily for Mercury Vessel Link as shown (Version: 6.0) See below. It won't hurt anything to download and install it even if you don't use the updated features. There are some "C-MAP & Navionics autorouting featues included as well. "Recommended for all HDS Gen2 Touch displays worldwide, this upgrade includes support for Mercury® VesselView® Link, C-MAP Easy Routing and Navionics® Autorouting, in addition to other performance improvements and enhanced functionality. Key Features Mercury VesselView Link View all of your Mercury Smartcraft® engine data in one place ─ on your Lowrance® multifunction display. The Mercury® VesselView® Link interface module integrates SmartCraft® engine data with HDS Gen3 displays ─ providing quick access to RPM, speed, fuel remaining, battery voltage, trim tab data and Mercury Smart Modes, like Eco, Smart Tow®, Troll Control and Cruise Control. VesselView® Link puts all the data you want, where you want it ─ at your fingertips."
Dale thank you for all the info that was extremely helpful and prompt . Are you or have you been a lowrance tech supporter in the past I may have to make further inquiries in the future lol
I am an avid user of Lowrance products and simply enjoy helping others get the most from their Lowrance devices as well. I usually respond as soon and as often as I can. If there is a delay, its typically because I am out on the water. I don't work for Lowrance.
same problem works with out transducer hooked up about 1in every 20 times when playing around in the house.
cool, I bought my boat from Richie! and my Gen2 touch units!
That's great Jeff....Richie and all the folks at Thayer's are good people!!!
How close of a scale can u get with the navionics chip on the chart
do you need your transducer hooked up to use your units inside?

Is the only way to share chart is with the update?
How do u update if the unit won't recognize SD card at start up?
Make sure the SD Card is 32GB or less. Save $ and use a 16GB
Negative stratosjeff. They should work just fine with no transducer connected.
