    A UA-cam viewer contacted me many months ago asking if I was able to detail his SQ5 for him. Now that the weather is cooperating, I was able to complete a comprehensive 10+ hour detail on his exterior and interior. This video represents the various steps in the process that returned this Panther Black SQ5 to its natural, ferocious self. Let me know if you have any questions by dropping a comment below.

    I am the proud owner of this vehicle and must say RAD Garage surpassed any expectations I had when I picked it up this morning - I don't think it was even this clean when I bought it. Rick, you are a true talent and your meticulous attention to detail is unparalleled; you even polished my damn licence plate frame for Pete's sake!!! Thanks so much, I am truly at a loss for words but will end by saying you are an example of what happens when a person meshes what he loves doing with what he's truly good at. The vehicle looks remarkable and the video is obviously top-notch. Now I am afraid to drive it anywhere.

      You've been slackin'! I thought this was a great project, but it didn't get much attention. It was back in the day when I didn't have a lot of subs so it just fizzled out. I'm glad to see you going back to some of the more "classic" vids.

    I received in my inbox notification of this new video last evening. I purposely left watching this film till this morning. I wanted to sit down, eat my breakfast and just enjoy watching the show as I ate. Rick, once again, you do not disappoint. You are without any doubt a "car craftsman" and an "automotive artist" to the ninth degree. Such an enjoyable and calming eleven minutes. Well done and congratulations to the lucky UA-camr who is the benefactor of Rick's talents...you are a very lucky car enthusiast. (Mike in Ohio)

    HE'S BAAACKKK! Too long! I can only imagine the amount of extra footage you have that you had to edit down to. Question: Do you miss the actual quad tailpipes of the older SQ5 vs the pseudo ones on the newer ones?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  6 років тому

      Honestly, I don't know if I miss them or not. Cleaning them was a chore and no matter how careful I was, the metal would pit and make cleaning even more difficult. But, having faux outlets still doesn't sit well with me. I am over it, but as I was using the steel wool to clean these pipes I did not find myself wishing I could do this on my own. It's amazing how controversial the faux outlets have been. I have heard many people say they wouldn't even consider owning a new SQ5 because of them, which is very short-sighted in my eyes, but I guess people love what they love and they don't see the need to compromise.
      Yes, I have a lot of other footage. I basically record everything, and I'm now using two cameras so it gets a bit crazy at times trying to manage it all. But, I like how this one came out.

    Another great video Rick. I have a question. Wouldn't the quick detailer wipe down before applying the Sealant, prevent the sealant from bonding completely to the paint, since it contains glossifiers/carnauba?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  6 років тому

      HitmanAtM16 You may have something there. I had to get the paint perfectly clean but I'll have to think about that. I have a ""Paint Prep" spray by Griot's that may be a better choice. I just love the Quick Detailer by Leno's and Speed Shine by Griot's so I usually go with them.

    • @HitmanAtM16
      @HitmanAtM16 6 років тому +1

      Before putting the protection on, its best to avoid using any detailers. I have Griots Paint Prep, but its actually meant to clean the surface to remove any old waxes/sealants. However, after using it many times, its not very good. Griots also has a Pre Wax Cleaner spray (which I have and have used as well), which is meant to be used after polishing, and before applying new wax/sealant/coating. Its simply a Alcohol based solution to strip oils/residue. However, once again, I do not like it. I do however, love Carpro Eraser, which is a far superior alternative in my opinion.
      After a wash, or polishing, or even claying the car, I do a final wipe down with carpro eraser to make sure the paint is absolutely void of any residue/oils/contaminants so that the sealant ill apply will bond to the best of its abilities.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  6 років тому

    Hey Rick! What mini polisher do you use? I might need to get one for the b pillars, they scratch so quick on the SQ5!

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 роки тому

      Hi Pete. I am so glad I had all the pillars PPF protected. No more swirls for me. To rid the pillars of swirls I would suggest either the MINI RANDOM ORBITAL POLISHER LHR75E BIGFOOT or the IBRID NANO LONG NECK by Rupes. I have the larger LHR15 MARK II BIGFOOT as well. Between these three polishers, there isn't an area on a car I can't get to.
      Adam's has also recently updated their line up of polishers and they seem highly legit as well. I'm hoping to get my hands on them in the near future to see how they feel and perform.

      @peterhermann7389 4 роки тому +1

      @@RADGarage Ok good to know. I will think about the PPF as well. I just cant stand if i can easy tell its been PPF'd :) Im assuming it was a couple hundred bucks?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 роки тому

      Pete Hermann There’s no way anyone would be able to see my pillars are PPF’d. The Suntek self-healing film is amazing. I got them done for a hundred. That’s 4 pillars on each side. Well worth the investment imo.
