Have you thought about collecting the larger garnets? They could be used for a give-away contest. Hint hint 😄. They would make interesting pendants, even if they aren't nice & clear, they're really pretty.

Brad, another interesting day spent in a Vermont stream searching for another kind of treasure .. The only thing I didn't see, was a light, easy to pack, Trout Fishing Rod .. pan a few flakes and then catch a few native trout for a stream side lunch .. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, it's always a treat.

@@JimofTheLionKings Jim, I have to admit that I do .. I actually didn't realize that they were still available .. During the 20 plus years I lived in Vermont, there was always a short Trout rod behind my truck seat rigged and ready .. Nothing beats crispy Trout tails fresh from a frying pan stream side ..

I picked up quartz gravel in Maine in 1995, out of a dirt road. Each piece had a vein of gold. The locals know of the gold, but the quantities of gold isn't enough to pay for your time. The only way to reclaim the gold is to break the rock down to dust. Best place to find gold is a metal culvert.

I freaking love my toe shoes. There is nothing stealthier when stalking deer, other than true moccasins, in the fall. There is also nothing more comfortable in the streams when I'm fishing.

Hey Brad... I'm a 67yr old, retired guy who always wanted to go out in the wild using a metal detector. Also, I've been a rockhound my whole life. Gemstones withstanding I'm seeing a fortune in rocks for my aquariums. I've paid fortunes for rocks at the Tropical Fish stores and never plucked them out of the wilderness. Although my eyes are on the rocks in many of wildlife vids on UA-cam. Diehard rockhound. Thank you for every one of your vids as I'm now a new subscriber who really enjoys your uploads. So much luck in the future and peace be with you.

He has/had a collection of medecine bottles full of flakes and dust.
He's had rings and bracelets made, paid for a vehicle upgrade and this was a hobby!

In 1981 after the eruption of Mt. St. Helen, there was an additional overcast and extra snow lasting into May. I went to the Pelham (MA) "asbestos mine" about 15 miles from U Mass Amherst with my gold pan and using a puddle of melt water, I panned the mix of broken mine rock and soil, recovering several pale milky blue sapphire crystals. They are like a quarter inch by a half inch and the sides have bits of biotite mica embedded in, I still have one.
