Tozer looks amazing! I am so proud of him... you're doing a great job. He's exactly what I keep trying to produce in my breeding program. A handsome, healthy hunting dog with a great temperament.
Good boyee! Wow. This IS the benefit of a good “whoa” before getting on birds. Great and stylish. Pleasure to watch. Sharing with friend with a 10 month old. Thanks for share.
Great video and one cool GSP. New member to your channel. Outstanding point. We have a GSP as well and a couple GSP videos on our channel. Outstanding dogs.
Nice looking pup with tons of natural ability. Unfortunately, you train as the vast majority of trainers did many years ago AND, still do today. First off, your dog was ALREADY pointing when you said "whoa". So, regardless of what your intentions were, this dog will not reliably hold point unless you say "whoa" and as time goes on, you'll need to repeat it more often. Why did you whoa an already-pointing dog? Basically, you have taught him a "whoa" dependency. Instead, your dog needs to learn that if he breaks, the birds gets away, EVERY time, NO shots fired. You don't need to speak AT ALL while the dog is learning this. Subsequently, your dog learns to point out of volition and NOT from "whoa", corrections, check cords, e-collars, etc. Why? Because done properly, he soon learns that in order for you to shoot a bird which he subsequently gets right in his mouth, he cannot chase. He MUST hold point. Bird dogs trained this way find more birds, especially wild birds, handle better, etc. etc. ;) Depending on where you live, I can recommend a competent trainer.
beautiful dog , but my friend do not walk in front of the true hunter(dog) hi is the master here you only the shooter loll keep the very good job whit that outstanding animal excuse me hunter loll
Thanks, he has been a great dog. I got him at Paladen GSP's in Riverside California. I have been training with Rod Barber in Rigby Idaho, who owns Moody Creek Shorthairs. The above video was taken on his property. He has some great dogs and actually has a litter on the ground right now.
He is not a pup and he is definitively a pro, but you dear Ted seam a very "slow student". Your part would have been to prep for the bird not to march around your GSP like a hippo in a china store. Your pointer is gorgeous and surely masters his job. Perhaps next time you detach the leach while letting him free on unknown terrain. I gave a thumb up for him.
Legend has it; he is still holding his point to this day.
I am totally in love with this breed. They are beautiful and amazing. Might have to get me one.

what a great looking GSP! May I ask what breeder you got him from? I'm currently on the hunt for a GSP myself - thanks!

Get yourself a pointer instead.
