Thanks for a nice demonstration! I own this cajon and I must say it's a real killer. A perfect balance between deep bass and crispy fat snare sound. And when you mike the bass port up with an AKG D112 and a Shure SM57 or AKG/Audio Technica condenser on top, utilizing an active 15" woofer/horn JBL monitor - WOW!!!
Hi Sven, thanks for your comment. I need to try this mic combo, do you have any sample of audio or video with this combination?
I really love the deep bass sound that this cajón produce!!! Thank you so much for this review!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you like it! Cheers
My local music store had three of these in stock, I played all three and they all had different snare sounds. You can make snare adjustment. But all these cajons have plywood faces with different styles of veneers on top which don't affect anything but cosmetic.
It's a great cajon, adjust and break it in.
Loosening the corner would give you the louder slap you want. I"m sure you know that. The Pearl I bought had no slap on the corner at all until I removed the corner screw.
You, sir, know your stuff! I enjoy watching and I will be getting a cajon very soon! Thanks for these great videos!
Great to hear you’ll start to learn 😉 hit me up if you need help, cheers!
I love my Jumbo. I use it as a bass drum with a cajinto, hihat, ride and tan-tan as a rhythm setup!
Great to hear! I will test it as BD as well 😉
🤔Great..... Now I've got 2 unfamiliar words to look up(cajinto & tan tan).... Be back in a few mins.
👉 I'm back, verdict: Schlagwerk cajinto sounds great, tan tan sounds pretty good.
This is the review that made me finally get a cajon
good to know! welcome to the cajon world ;)
As a new cajon player i like your videos. But as a general rule and i know eveyone is different so i cant say all think like me but as least some do because everyone has an idea or thought that some people agree with. I dont care to see people the actual un boxing of a product 2ndly a product that someone has been using for year speeks more volumes to me the something new someone likes but if they dont like the new thing its more to consider. But thanks for your channel i have learned a lot
First "bass" cajon I've ever seen or heard. Cajons aren't commonly seen around here at music stores in Northern Delaware. Well, to be honest, there aren't many good music stores around here anyway, so.... But this thing sounds nice, and I like that you get different percussion sounds from the same instrument. It's not just all 1 pitch. The snares add a nice sound too.
Glad you like it!
Yeah bro. Thanks for hitting those high notes.
Nice deep snare sound and response and good deep bass but personally I like a very clean bass sound with no snare and find I need to sacrifice a full snare on the top ends on most cajons
Yes, I understand. Maybe if you try a Cajon that you can adjust the amount of snare maybe it could work for you
Pearl bass cannon cajon or Sela’s bass cajon both have really nice low end with good isolation between highs and lows 🤙
The ported hole on the Pearl is my go to
Edit: Pearl Boom Box is the model name
@@CajonMaster very good point
@@ccfiv87 you have a link? I'm looking for a cajon with good isolation between snare and bass. Thanks
Which cajon kick pedals would you recommend with this cajon since it's bigger?
Great review. Have you ever reviewed the Pearl Sonic Boom Buzz Cajon with Snare? The pearl sound better to my ears.
Not yet, I will check that 😉 thanks for your comment, glad you like the video 🙏
not bad needs more bass try the raven or music genera pearl cajons they can put out some really great bass
Oh Felipe what an amazing Cajon skill you have, 👌🏻
welcome! thanks for your kind words :) glad you found the channel.
Nice job as usual! 😁Can You Review the Vertical Subwoofer Cajon from Menl?
I'll check it out!
Another legendary creation..sweet and best background track ever..just day u have millions of millions view. And the day isn't to late for you.. awesome elegant afford.
You're so kind my friend! thanks a lot 😉
@@CajonMaster enjoy dear a lot.. I hope happiness always with you. 💕
I will never trust a cajon player that does not have as amazing a "cajon face" as you. Every instrument has their version of it. The player makes a face when they are deep into playing, feeling the music, and in the pocket. lol... Thanks for sharing!
De duck is even a more succulent than a I imagined.
Thanks for your video. Is this cajon (Meinl) best for deep bass. Can this produce Different variation of bass. I am planing to buy one. I dont want same kind of bass. I want variation of bass. Any recommendation to buy a good Cajon.
Yes, definitely. This has a great deep bass tone and of course some more bass frequencies depending where you are hitting. My favorite cajon with more bass tone is the Meinl cantina line. You can see this cajon in a lot of my videos here on the channel. The link to buy it is in the description as well.
@@CajonMaster thanks a lot for your response. This is helpful!
Cajon Master, this is a quality bass cajon wow it is awesome!
I'm glad you like it! thanks again!
Anytime bro!!!! Just amazed with the sound of that cajon for being of lower cost got to love meinl!
After a lot of research I've decided to purchase a Meinl Jumbo Bass Subwoofer cajon. In your opinion would you say there is a big difference in the walnut face vs American white ash face tone?
Can you use this for Flamenco? How is the high end and is the high end adjustable? I love the bass but want a nice high end as well.
Hi ... I've just bought one of these but had to send it back to Thomann ... there was a terrible 'buzz' on the decay, so took off the head and one of the wires was bent over about an inch ... also the build quality wasn't good, the screws on the head had 4 of them that wouldn't tighten to hold ... on taking the head off I noticed that the screws were put down through the 10mm ply forcing the ply apart, this would get worse over time, also on the inside surface of the head there was a piece of masking tape and tape glue residue, Thomann true to their customer service are sending me another one .... but i'm thinking ... is it going to be the same with the ply ? .... can I send you a couple of photos ?.....
Thank you for your videos. It really helps me to understand and learn how to play Cajon.
Glad to know! 🙏😉
I want to buy this hopefully in 2 months. I got inspired to get one because of deejay in street fighter. I was wanting one before like last year but I end up forgetting about it but off of seeing this video I was shocked of what you can do with this.
Nice one Lyle! After you get started, let me know how it goes ;)
Do you have videos with complete percussion set with snare and kick pedal? Which would you recommend?
I have one, highly recommended!
Very cool! 😉
The kid from Mixed Up Everything uses one that say Session and Das Musikhaus, which I can't find anywhere. His actually sounds like a kick with a snare. Obviously it sounds different with a band playing, but it impressed me enough to look for the thing.
This cajon is great for the effect “drum kit in a box” and also works great in recording situations.
Looking at this or LP matador triple percussion what would you recommend
The Subwoofer is a cool Cajon! Great bass sound and great volume.
Pearl bass boom is much much better! Guitar Center has them on sale right now. 4th of July deals!
Love your content! Would the deep bass still come though strong if it’s not mic’d up?
Hi Charlie! Yes, it has a deep bass sound naturally. This is because the subwoofer in the front.
@@CajonMaster wow. Thanks for replying! I love your videos.
Where do I find the music used at the beginning. Love the video brother!
Hi! The music is from epidemic sound, check it out 😉 🙏
Thanks for the review! I’m a drummer looking at this cajon to go with a snare and hihat. Will the Meinl Direct Drive Pedal fit this (because of the front ports)?
I’m also interested in adding a pedal to this. Will it fit?
could you do a subwoofer comparison someday? I would like to hear the difference between that bass and this bass ( Meinl Vertical Subwoofer Bass Cajon with Internal Snares). and any other basses out there. thank you
Yes, I’ll do that 😉👍🏻
I'd be pissed with how much snare action it gets. If I ordered a bass cajon, why would I want so much snare all the time?
You all probably dont care but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Devon Archie instablaster =)
@Ishaan Kane thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Ishaan Kane It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Devon Archie you are welcome :D
What kind of bass pedal would you recommend for this Cajon?
How well do you think it would work if I wanted to add a bass pedal later. I am leaning towards the Meinl cable pedal. Thank you
I’ve already tested, the bass sound is great with a pedal. Good choice 👍🏻 Share a video when you get all set 😉🙏 IG - cajon.master
Hey Felipe,
Why aren't there more cajons on the market with forward bass projection? Projecting the sound away from your audience or fellow musicians just seems... backwards? 🙃
Meinl makes this and one other $300 model - Thomann makes a knockoff of this one, and one guy in the states somewhere hand builds the "Fire cajon", but that's about it.
I'm not necessarily interested in the big, booming bass - I own the cheap Thomann one, and it's almost too much.
I've been experimenting with building my own and I'm going to try it with two smaller bass ports on the front to widen the projection... 🤔
Hi Rasmus, the bass sub in the front is an option that doesn't work always. I really like those two models from Meinl but for cerain situation when I need more volume and bass. But for small gigs for example I rather play with flamenco cajons that are more sensitives and bass is more controlled. It's also a matter of taste. Let me know how your DIY project goes, I'm curious to see the results ;) Thanks again Rasmus, cheers!
Cool bass sound! Thanks man.
Thanks Greg!
Could you do a MEINL Subwoofer Jumbo Bass Cajon vs MEINL Vertical Subwoofer Cajon!?
I will try to do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
I appreciate you taking my suggestion into consideration!
Great review, have you tried this mode yet? “Meinl Backbeat Bass Cajon”. I’m looking for a trusted review but can’t seem to find one.
Hi! thanks for your message. I've checked this model and noticed that it's a discontinued model. It's a model similar to the Jumbo Bass cajon and the Snarecraft PRO.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩..im a big fan of urs☺☺💕
Thanks Sabri! 😉
Means a lot that u replied 🙈💕
Playing starts at 3:36
What do you think of the Stagg Cannon Cajon with Extra Bass cajon compared to the Meinl? The Stagg is made of all real wood, not MDF.
I think I've tested before. I don't remember exactly. have you tried before? The Jumbo is a powerful one even if is made of mdf. Try to test both and see which one you prefer.
one reviewer said snare buzz is heard when you hit the bass part. what's ur input on this?
There is little bit. Which sound are you looking for?
Thanks for you msg. There is more bass exactly because of the subwoofer hole in the front and the construction as well ( it’s bigger than an average Cajon)
Do u know where I can get front plate replacement for this cajon?
Where are you located?

How does this compare to their vertical sub cajon? Anyone compared the 2
They are made of the same material but different sounds. Have a look on the Turbo Slaptop review here - ua-cam.com/video/UavfcMUDtYU/v-deo.html
Let me know what do you think, cheers!
@@CajonMaster I meant the vertical bass/subwoofer cajon. www.thomann.de/gb/meinl_vertical_subwoofer_cajon.htm The slaptop looks good too tho. ;)
Ok, now I got it 😉 I never play the vertical, will do soon 🙏😉
@@CajonMaster Nice. Be interested to hear which has deepest bass etc
Will this increase the bass sound if say BOSE S1 is placed on this Cajon
I cannot say for sure but if you use a drum bass mic like the sure b52 for example, it will have more bass for sure.
5:58 Bro that groove sounded dope!
Thanks brother 🙏
The box says Germany but it’s says on Amazon made in China? Any thoughts? Thank you.
Hi Trish, thanks for your message. I'm not sure why is that but most of Meinl cajons are made in Europe and also Thailand, I'm not sure if there is any model made in china. Do you like the subwoofer model?
How comfortable is it while playing? It appears that it would put strain and eventually pain in the lower back from leaning forward. Can anyone please comment on their experiences regarding comfort and any back issues? Thanks.
get the Meinl cajon stand. well worth it
I really need to know the name of that music track, ❤
This is the one I have!
Good choice! 😉👍🏻
What’s that mini canon in the back
Meinl mini cajon
Superb player ....maxxxx
Thank you! 🙏
@@CajonMaster ,respect im 🇱🇰 srilanken...
Will it fit a pedal?
Yes it fits most of cajon pedals that come with the base to attach in the cajon.
i got one and a friend got one too and his has no bass :/
Really! how possible??
@@CajonMaster his sound really flat and no sub kick
Based on this review, I bought one of these--sight unseen, and obviously, unheard. It does not have a nice sound, and I am sending it back. My only other cajon is the A Temp Dos Voces, so all comparisons are made with that. My A Temp has a warmer base, better snare, more snap in the corners, and has a definite gradation from base to open tone snare, so you can get a wide variety of sounds. This Meinl Jumbo cajon does not compare. Yes, the base is deep, but not warm, not at all, and has sound leaking from the snare should produce a rich variety of sounds, but this does not. The snare at the top is not dependable, some spots are louder and some are less; e.g. the top one inch has no snare sound at all, then it suddenly gets stronger, but sounds rather tinny. There is no difference playing on the top middle compared to the top towards the side. The he manufacture says the corners are adjustable, but I found they were dead, and loosing the screws made no difference, nr were there any instructions on how to adjust it. This cajon is made of MDF, not hard wood, and MDF does not produce nice sound---but it is cheaper to make. The A Temp is hard wood and sounds very warm, with some snap in the corners At $200, this Meinl cajon is not so cheap and has no carry case. The A Temp costs about $260, but does come with a carry case. So they fall in roughly the same price range. So to conclude, according to my experience, the Meinl is inferior, by a long margin. I am sadly disappointed, and will go back and buy a new A Temp if I need a new cajon.
Your comment was really helpful. I noticed the snare sound bleeding over in the base just on this video so I looked at the comments to see if anyone actually had one and experienced it for real. Thanks for saving me money.
Did you try adjusting the sensitivity of the snare etc with the allen key that comes with it? You can adjust the snare sound on the front (top/corners) plate screws and on the bottom of the cajon.
Yea don't sound very good I agree
Great video man stay safe :)
Also first
Thanks 😉
built my own 2010, did not like sound from the early cajons, did not like the sound this one emits either, nautilus cajons are great, but custom built mine with 5/8 th in birch plywood, and 3/8 th inch strikeface, best sounding cajon on the planet !!!!
Great! Do you have a video?
Ca sonne bien !
Big boy! 😀😉
Hi, I'm a subwoofer cajon. Hear my bass:. Snare snare snare snare snare snare. Did you hear the bass? No, not at all. Does ANYONE make a cajon with separation of snare and bass?
Have you listen to it with headphones?
@@CajonMaster Lol no. I'm just messing with ya. However I am looking for a cajon with good separation that's a lower price. Would this fit the bill? Thanks man!!
@@Mdogbrown No worries :) This one or the Snarecraft PRO can be good options of snare cajons. You can check the Snarecraft PRO review here - ua-cam.com/video/8lBETxQ5BmI/v-deo.html
@@CajonMaster Thanks!!
Dope channel! Just found you, I've been dropping metal covers on the Cajon. Check em out, will prolly get this cajon
Felipe, I love your channel, but you have to do something about your background music.
You're a musician, so maybe you should compose something instead of that horrible electronic UA-cam music heard on way too many videos.
Thanks Greg! I use music from a platform called epidemic sound. I know, It would be batter to have my own music, maybe one day when I have more time to create that ;) thanks for the input, cheers!

You should have used some music with the cajon, come on man.
In the review is better without music, to really listen to the sound of the instrument. You can check out all my cajon tutorials with famous songs in the shorts section ;)
Wide-load cajon.
it's a big boy, you are right ;) it has a big sound as well.
Не слышу я здесь супер баса,обычный звук)
thanks for your comment
Is this a joke?
No
Can you give me po one of your cajon beatbox
