Hey Tyler, just thought I would explain to what happens to concrete with oil or any other liquid from a car. So what happens, is any sort of liquid which has a constant flow onto a specific spot on the concrete, will eat away the cement from the concrete and will leave the stones exposed. That's why whenever you look onto a concrete building which has a hole in the gutter, the concrete always looks different to the rest, that's because of the constant flow of the water over the concrete!

I’ll like to see a video on leaving stuff in gasoline and diesel for 30 days and compare how the diesel or gasoline eats things the same or differently. Love the content btw
with the paper towel, the gas didn't eat the coating away, it just went right through it. you put a HYDRO-phobic substance on the paper towel, and gasoline does not have water in it, it's actually an issue if gas does have water in it. so the reason the paper towel that was soaked in gas ripped so normally was because that coating was still present. as a matter of fact if you look back to when you were pouring in the gas, the dry paper towel almost immediately was wetted by the gasoline
@@unclestinkystudios8480 a nicer way of saying what the other guy said is, there was no moisture to begine with, and sealed in a mason jar for 30 days certainly wont add any moisture.
You might want to try a piece of black tarmac in gasoline because most of the tar in roads is made from petrolium, which might be why oil and/or gasoline tends to degrade it in parking lots.
Series is great, always has been and always will be. But I would really enjoy it if every time you did these, you put the same items in a jar of water during the experiment just so instead of saying “I’m sure water would’ve done the same thing” you know for a fact whether water would do the same thing.
Paper is not broken down by oils. Only by water and water based solvents/chemicals. I work on a web printing press and you can absolutely soak the paper down in flash oil, blanket wash solvent, anything oil based. But as soon as it gets some water on it boom it breaks
my understanding of the parking spot dents is its just a case of long term exposure to car tires pressing down on those spots and over time slowly deforming them, like a plank of wood left with a brick in the middle of it causing it to warp over time
Try leaving stuff in lacquer thinner ! Very strong stuff I dropped my G shock in it once and it melted the plastic casing ! Just an idea would be cool !
The ironic timing of the posting as the UK is in a self made fuel shortage but rather than thinking what a waste of fuel all that was screaming in my head was "THAT'S NOT CHEESE, I don't know what it is but it's not cheese" 😀 Great vid as always thank you Tyler.
Hey Tyler I'm like 2 minutes into the video and I noticed you mentioned how parking spaces are usually deteriorated by dripping gas. This corrosion is not caused by leaking gas. If someones car was leaking gas that'd be a serious issue. Most likely what you're seeing is oil breaking down into fats, and breaking down the concrete. Oil leaks are common. Gas leaks are not common and a serious hazard.
I think the reason concrete and asphalt in parking spaces corrodes is because of engine oil. As it gets exposed to exhaust fumes (due to blow-by in the cylinder) it becomes acidic... Or caustic... Or something.
The thing about gasoline is that its very volatile, it changes very quickly to a vapor and the vapor is what is so flammable. Not only is it a very good fuel, but it has a ton of surface area while it is a vapor, which causes it to burn very well. Unfortunately, this means the instant there is no liquid gasoline present it is absolutely awful at burning stuff. The residue left behind just doesn't burn nearly as well. Gotta have that vapor or its essentially not even there
Hey Tyler I’ve asked a couple time but I would like to see “leaving stuff in battery acid for...” I think it would be a great video
