Mrs Newman-Scott, as a Jamaican freshman studying in PA, I can't emphasize how moved I am by your story. Thank you for reminding me that I have the ability and the courage to stand on a global platform and make my country proud all while impacting the world at large. Big up yuhself! :)
Very wise grandmother. I loved her saying and she is so right! When the universe opens its door to you all you have to do is walk through it. It is fi yu! Some times I need that reminder. You were just as wise and as witty as I knew you would be!
Beautiful presentation so inspiring. I grew up with my grandmother telling me the same thing and every now and again I remember "What is fimi cyah un fimi"
Mrs. Newman-Scott is such a compelling speaker; I enjoyed her entertaining style of storytelling. I really thought that phrase was only said in my family!!! 😲😊 Makes me proud(er!) of my fellow Jamaicans. 💖👏🏽👏🏽
Love it! And I really love your entertaining presentation style Kristina!! Thanks so much for this powerful reminder that has served me well throughout my life...
mrs Scott That was a wonderful and powerful message thanks as an artist and what yo said its so true because I am move by what you say coming from Jamaica as a Roadside artist from Kingston Jamaica .cheery Stewart-Josephs
I feel so attached to this young lady, being a Jamaican living in Hartford Connecticut, and guess what? I use to work at the same Art School in Jamaica EMSVA as a Tutor for Jewelry Craft which is also form of Art, I also did Sculpture with a tutor named Chris Harrack now deceased, I think this young lady might have known him too, I think I saw a flyer with her picture in Hartford, as I had Jewelry store there, and just like her the store went belly up, cuz of financial constraint in CT. I had to look other places, and now I'm doing training people for CDL License at a bus company, in the U.S nothing is set n stone, so one has to prepare to be versatile like her.
Dwight Edwards As a Jamaican over 25 years old, I grew up hearing, "what is fi yuh, cyan be unfi yuh". It translates "what is for you, can't be *unfor* you". Yes, it means what is for you, must be yours...

27 years being a Jamaican I have never heard the word on-fi-u. She must have meant 'wa a fi u a fi u'
