Oh my goodness. I am really glad you found a way to clean this out, and this was the reason that prevented me from getting an m800 or M1000 demo, because who wouldn't want a demonstrator the ones who created it right? The M200 doesn't seem to have that problem. Unfortunately, this looks like a task. Sigh. No Pelikan demos for me. at least now there is a method to clean it though.
The largest part of my collection is comprised of Pelikan Pens, they are my favorite pens. I have not purchased a demonstrator, this does seem like a lot of work. Thanks for sharing.
Nice trick. Definitely won't be getting a Pelikan demonstrator. Seeing the ink drops/blue sheen in the cap of my Conid already drives me nuts, and that is pretty easy to clean out.
I know this will definitely void the warranty but I’m considering coloring the Pelikan M1000 green-striped with Rust-Oleum painter’s touch 2x ultra cover colonial red paint.
@@Shak-MD Definitely don’t want to paint over the black stripes. I might need to use extremely fine tipped paintbrush and tons of precision to achieve this.
I wonder if a large wealthy company like Pelikan could redesign the pen so that this annoying problem would not happen. Also thanks for the tip about the holder from Michael's.
This is a cool trick! I bet this would work with any similar piston pen. Thanks for sharing! You said "suction" only as a doctor can. SUCTION! STAT! ha ha
HAHA :D :D Thanks for noticing that ! It is a surgery thing, though I'm not a surgeon. IT is very useful during intubations...no suction available can be difference between life and death! :) :) With the pens, it is not as life-saving though :) :)
Yes. The piston rod removal still leaves the ink in the section. I have ultrasounded thos pen in pen flush as well as water, soap.... and diluted bleach for at least 30 minutes without success.
@@Shak-MD My only concern with the technique you're using is that you stress the piston seal in a direction and with a force that it shouldn't see in regular use. That may accelerate wear overtime. I have the striated version, so the grip section is opaque; but on my other demonstrators, soaking in warm soapy water and using a bulb syringe through the back is usually sufficient. I'll also rub with a rolled up paper towel or toothbrush if the threads are very fine.
@fortheloveofpens That is a concern, but rubber ahould last long...and this procedure is done very sparingly. The pelikan demonstrators have that sleeve inside that make it quite impossible to clean in another way.
Great minds think alike :) :D I searched for a solution for over a year. INcluded bleach, alcohol, pen flush, and an endless cycle of ultrasonic cleaner. This technique TRUMPs them all :) :)
@varadharajannadarajah Yes. Looks good. They should have added an interchangeable cap [ clip looking like a mechanical watch :) ]..... would have had many more buyers.
Precisely how I destroyed my M805 demonstrator. I guess I should have warned about it. I have mentioned it in previous videos. But You are right. Isopropyl alcohol does clear my Asvine demo even from baystate blue.

It sure is a ritual!

It is quite a ritual! But I was super amused when I figured it out :)
@@Shak-MD Sometimes these little rituals can be quite cathartic. Mechanical watches do that for me.
@michaelbradley6488 Don't get me started on mechanical watches! 😀
Perfect tips ❤
Thanks 😊
Excellent and minimally invasive !
So true. :D :D
Very smart! Its a shame that part is made that way, but you made it work :)
IT is such a shame. :)

Yes, OCDs must stay away. I struggle along!
Great video! Thank you! :^)
Great!
Now I'm left with a single $ 1M question: How do I get a clear m1000 without paying $ 1M?
Very good question. It occasionally pops up in Virtualpenshow on instagram.
I know this will definitely void the warranty but I’m considering coloring the Pelikan M1000 green-striped with Rust-Oleum painter’s touch 2x ultra cover colonial red paint.
Do it 😀

I'm sure they can. I don't think their housing design has changed for decades! Of course they can is the want.

Thanks a lot!! My m200 demo still has Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki in it haha! What is the rubber holder on Amazon called?

Is there a reason you don’t remove the piston rod or use an ultrasonic cleaner?

Lol we use the same trick, though I usually have a little more water in there

wow thats a beautiful pen... but ill stick to my penbbs and twsbi lol
I really like my TWSBIs. 580 ALR in blue, grey, and rose gold. They are awesome.
i dont have Pelikan Demonstrator but i have 823 and asvine titanium p36 i have more respect for opaque sections more in demonstration pen
Now we know why they do it. :)
Got MB Jane Austen ??
NO :( . I should look that up :)
NO! Looks like not made for me :)
@@Shak-MD I had a look. Looks like Montblanc made it for ladies (understandably, as it's a tribute to Jane Austen). Well made though.
@varadharajannadarajah Yes. Looks good. They should have added an interchangeable cap [ clip looking like a mechanical watch :) ]..... would have had many more buyers.
@@Shak-MD The clip was made to look like Jane Austen's handbag with strap. I'm interested to know what female fans of Montblanc think about the pen.
Or you could just disassemble and soak in isopropanol. 20s with a cotton bud, and you're done.

@@Shak-MD Dilution is the key. 50% for you M805?. Never, ever Acetone if the pen has acrylic parts!
I had 70% 1:1 water.....destroyed the glue in the section.
That's why you are a Critical Care Physician 😂
NO surgery involved :)
