Awesome upgrades!
Thanks!
All this great job you've done.. and I struggled all day long with 1 single window tint... I just gave up 😅
Oh man! I feel your pain. The upgrades I did seemed to take forever sometimes! The headliner I did almost ate me alive!!! 😂
Good to see you back!
I'm always excited about new updates on my Jeep. I like the air intake box. I chose a similar location but a tractor/Humvee style snorkel.
The thing about an old XJ; there are always things to do with them! 😂
No matter which battery you use for the winch, the engine must be always On while operating the winch.
Correct! On this set up, the power draw from the winch only pulls from the secondary battery. The alternator will be boosting that battery, as long as the engine is running. The starter battery remains fully charged and ready to go, and is not affected by the winch draw.
i also run dual battery's on my xj, when it comes to hooking up the winch i chose to power it off my start battery. Mostly to keep the amount of wiring to a minimum and the jeep is always running wile winching. my research showed that wile running the alternator and winching amperage would spike very high and having shorter runs will reduce voltage drop. Not saying one way i right or wrong, just what i found and how i decided to do it.
@robertgrove1271 I pondered which way to go too. You may have a better option.
Glad to see that it was just a temporary break to do some updates on your jeep because I was having withdrawals from your videos. 😉 Not really withdrawals but I was missing them. Glad to know that you are still riding!!
Thanks! Can't wait to Get Out!
What type of air compressor do you have under the hood? Did you have to remove anything to make it fit?
I bought a cheap Harbor Freight - PITTSBURGH AUTOMOTIVE 12V 150 PSI Compact Air Compressor. Since I removed the air-box and added a battery, I had just enough room to squeeze it beside the master cylinder and the fender. Very tight fit! I did not like the yellow plastic tubing that came with the unit, so I bought 25' of regular air hose to plug into it when I need to use it.
What is your opinion on the air intake? Noisy at all in the Cabin?
It did increase the noise a little. When you really get on it; it will sound like a 4-barrel carburetor kicking in! Once you get up to speed; it quiets down. I run pretty aggressive 31" tires; and they make more noise than the intake when I am just cruising along.
