I am so very glad you are going to NY still and with someone who knows NY. I cant wait to hear how you loved it! Jackson will love whatever you do with him. They are great boys with great parents! Enjoy it all
I’m so glad that you were able to find someone who could go with you. I know you mentioned that it was completely out of your friend’s control, but if this was the same friend who canceled on your cruise, I personally would not ever invite that person on a trip again.
I'm stunned that you think it's nothing to "pop out to CA" for a 5 yo birthday - it's your choice but it might be time to start teaching what's reasonable to expect on one's birthday - many happy returns of the day for Young Mr. J
Taking a child to California for a regular birthday is WILD. I say this as a mom who has made many mistakes myself.. but kids are happiest with friends and cake. Everyone needs to chill with these over the top birthdays.
You have to remember that he’s like 5 yrs old 😭❤️ I love how sweet you are but you’re the parent! 5 yr old isn’t gonna be the right voice to lead you! They change their mind every second
He is also old enough to explain to him that he can have a different party next year; there is no need to do everything he wants all the time. Otherwise he will not be fun to be around when he is older and something does not go exactly his way.
Was your best friend the same one that canceled on you for the cruise? If so, I think you should stop planning trips with them. Seriously. Even if it's not their fault, they obviously aren't really honest with themselves about what they can commit too. Glad you still got to go!
This was my thought as well! I agree with you. Even if it's not their fault this has happened twice already and I would definitely have been stressed if I were in Jenn's situation.
This! I have a friend who constantly canceled because of "not feeling well" I've stopped asking her to do things and let her reach out when she can actually do things that way
I'm probably going to be criticized but... I seriously think that: "I'm sure good values are being passed on, but..." "It is important for parents to convey to their children that everything cannot always be achieved immediately and that patience is a precious quality. Learning to recognize and appreciate the gestures of others, unconditionally, is also a great value to have. inculcate." Happy birthday in advance to Jackson...
It is sadly but also it is alot if they have kids too. I would be be able to leave my kids to go away for 4 days Jenn is very lucky to be able to do that
I think Jackson will be more than happy with whatever you do for his birthday because he has two parents who love him very much. My parents never asked me what I wanted to do for my birthdays lol, so Jackson is one lucky little guy 💙
Awe the joys of parenting and soon having to deal with sibling issues of minor jealousy. My advice is do not sugar coat it, explain he cannot have that grand party like Oliver. Life is full of problems. Never too early to explain realities of time appreciation. Can’t wait for your boys to learn sharing of food. You have great children, you respect them, guide them and really listen. Jackson will understand about a little party in the backyard, plus a trip to California. Just say for Oliver’s second birthday, he can help plan it and pick something he wanted for his party. Kids understand if it is explained to them. The world is unfair and children have to learn this, adapt to this, not just complain it is not fair.
Wow....can't believe your friend bailed again!!! Don't think I would plan anything with this person again. Would have been so sad for you if you had to cancel. Happy you went and can't wait to see the vlogs!!! 💚
You guys are the sweetest for worrying about what Jackson wants for his birthday to the degree that you are. Never forget that giving your kid what you didnt have growing up doesnt mean you can’t say no. I’m only now at 33 years old learning/realizing my parents struggled financially when i was young (like through middle school). I never once had a special trip just for me or a trip that was what I wanted to do. Jackson has had a special weekend cruise and now a birthday trip. He will LOVE IT and hopefully one day appreciate it immensely. He doesnt know what a blessing that is at 5, but he will!
I think about this every time they buy him another Hot Wheel. (Said as someone married to a 36 year old who still has too many hot wheels and such an attachment to physical toys meant for kids)
i’m REALLY happy your other friend was able to step in. Sometimes our best friends are not our travel friends. I took one trip with my best friend, and afterwards I said, “I love you so much but we can’t travel together.” And they agreed and we’re are still besties many years later 😂
Jackson wants a party like Oliver's 1st bday because of all the attention focused on Oliver during the party. Since obviously has no recollection of his own 1st bday so this is a good time to show him the video of his 1st bday party. It'll show him that he was lavished with love and attention, just like Oliver. Wait a day or two before telling him that you're taking him to Nintendo World for his bday. DON'T mention the party when you tell him about going to California. If he brings it up and/or shows disappointment regarding the party, acknowledge it. Help him use his words to express it, then help him move past it. Learning how to appropriately cope with disappointment will be much easier at his age, and will be very beneficial going forward.
Yey!!! So glad you were able to find a friend last minute to go with AND BONUS he works in NY and was able to make some plans. Yey!!!!!!! I know you’ve already been, I know you had a great time and I’m excited to see what the two get up to!! 🥰
In terms of Jackson's birthday, kids are silly, even if he says he wants Oliver's birthday party, just give him a wall of donuts, toys in the backyard and a couple of friends over and he won't know the difference!
y'all... the kid is a baby and prob won't remember this bday. give him a bounce house and some candy and he'll think it's the best day ever. also, please reconsider your relationship w this person who clearly does not respect your time/$$$ and continues to flake. goodness.
Just so you know, I would have been happy to step in as a replacement for the friend who backed out. I can be ready on short notice any day, any time. Going to the theatre is my favorite thing on earth. 😊
So sorry Your friend backed out but hoping it was still a great trip. I would definitely start planning solo trips from now on. Jackson will love the trip to California. You can have a small party in the back yard. Just rent a couple of bouncy houses and get a ton of snacks. Doesn’t have to be professional. He will love anything you do for him.
Tim for your Hey Dudes - do the sock hack! Take out the insole, place a no-show sock on it (the open/top part of the sock will be on the bottom of the insole) and put back in. It’s like wearing a sock, and keeps any sweat (and smell) out of the shoe itself. Then just take the socks off and wash them. Works like a charm!
Your generosity with your child is creating a monster. All Jackson knows is a wonderful life of fantasy. For him to ask for that trip is extreme, then you said yes. Now there are 2 boys who will come up with bizarre requests for b-days. Now is when you dial it back. Make the trips for family special occasions. He saw what you did for Oliver now he wants to see if you'll do it for him. You guys are awesome parents just too awesome.
He’s not a monster for asking for big things for his birthday, he doesn’t know how much money, time, or effort goes into them, and that’s appropriate for his age. He would be a monster if he threw a fit when he doesn’t get what he wants, but I don’t think he’s doing that. He’s just a nice kid whose parents can turn a trip to California into a profitable job for their family, so why wouldn’t they do that? They spent years investing in the business, and when Jackson is older, he will understand the value of that more fully. For now, he can just be a kid.
I’m so glad you found another friend to go on the trip with you! You guys are amazing parents and I think Jackson will have such a fun birthday in California! If it were me, I would let him know we can plan the big backyard party for his next birthday. He will have fun talking about it all year! ❤
The fact that you two love your kids and want them to be happy is a gift unto itself. In the end, they’ll appreciate that you invested in them, loved them, and made them happy in ways that are not about things. I don’t mean that nastily, btw. Just, you know, don’t sweat it about whether you’re choosing the “right” thing.
I don't really comment & i have been watching you guys since before kids, i had to say that your boys just melt my heart & make my day! Love your vids! ❤❤
When I say that Rothy’s are my favorite shoe. I have three pair now but my original pair I still wear to this day and worse then for almost three years straight 5-6 days a week to work where I stand and walk a majority of the day and the soles look barley worn. They are the best shoes to but even if they are a bit pricey. My favorite hack is to take out the sole of the shoes put a sock around the sole with the open side on the bottom of the sole so I can get more wears with having to wash them then I just throw them in the washing machine and air dry I tell anyone I know about these shoes because they really are just that good.
I wouldn't worry about throwing a party for Jackson in the backyard because once he sees Nintendo land he'll forget all about that. I do think you should take him to cars land at DCA. He'll love that. I hope you do have some time to go to Knotts berry farm and experience their Xmas events. That's always a must do for my family. I know it would be hard for kids but you should experience the Christmas carol performance in the birdcage theater.
And have him help You decorate the back yard with balloons and rent a few tables and chairs and coordinate sting clothes and napkins and plain colored plates and cups. Invite his friends via email I could do come and do it
Oh wow! You were all over my neighborhood! Even shopped at one of my favorite Publix Super Markets, Where Shopping IS a Pleasure! 💚 We have a new one on the corner of Princeton and OBT, the new Packing District one, but the original College Park one on Edgewater is a classic!
Commenting out of the blue!! American here and I've never heard of Hey Dudes lol 😆 Sending love and safety to Jen's travels and well wishes for Jackson's birthday!
Rothy's are great shoes for NYC. No blisters and you can walk for hours. Sarah Funk a NYC travel blogger recommends these shoes too, she walks all over NYC
Cracked me up in the video yesterday when Jenn said NYC smelled like whacky tabaccy. I was there at about the same time as her and people were definitely partaking in the streets 😂
fun fact, Vara started out as luggage...im glad you can go, i would so meet you there but like id have to get a train ticket and dont know Manhatten very well...I can do it on my own with other people, but yea. I just...I need to get out of town for a while anyways....
Jeez Louise, I’m glad you found another travel companion Jenn and I hope you can do another trip with your first friend, but gosh between that and the cruise that’s, a lot of stress not in your control at all 😬
I was going to mention Rothys- you said it first, washable and recycled material. I’ve wanted some for a while- a little out of my current budget, maybe soon 😊
I'm happy to see/hear when you make donations to places. I will have to look them up and see if we have anything we can donate too. Glad you found another friend to go with. I so could have been that friend too. Can I be your third child for the trip to SNW?
That's so exciting you still can go! I LOVE vera bradley I had a backpack for YEARS it only died recently last year. My family had to search hardcore to find the same print.
Thanks for sharing that Rothy’s is at Springs. I’ve seen them on Instagram but not sure I want to buy sight unseen. Hope to be on FL in January and excited to check them out. What did you think ?
With the birthday, I would say how about we have the big party next year so we can plan the best one ever!! Make it exciting and he will be happy. Good luck!
Jenn! How weird is this? I booked Disney Cruise on the wish and I was going solo, then you announced that you are going too and you went there 1 week before me. So I watched your videos as a guide. Now, you been to New York, and I’m gonna be there next week!!! I’m gonna watch your vlogs and have some tips just in case you do something I never done before.. Not your best friend bailing AGAIN😭So glad you found someone else to go with!
I'm so glad you found someone to go on the NYC trip after having to do the cruise alone.
The friend bailed again? 😢 isn’t this the second time? I’m sorry!!!
It is sadly but also it is alot if they have kids too. I would be be able to leave my kids to go away for 4 days Jenn is very lucky to be able to do that

I'm jealous of Jackson. My parents never asked me what I wanted. I was always surprised. 😮😂
When out shopping and Tim says "oooh advent boxes" ...I sensed a wee bit of sarcasm 😂✌️❤️
Tim, if you are reading this...I would like an update on Santa's arrival in Ottawa Canada🍁🇨🇦again this year. It was so fun to have you mention it. ❄️
Is this the same friend that canceled on the cruise??? Can I throw my hat in the ring for your new best friend??? #inevercancel
Yesss! Been waiting for a new video!
My heart was about to break for Jenn like seriously come on but in the end it worked out for her!
Have a wonderful time on your trip. Look forward to seeing

Tim’s singing at 1:21 saved me
Jen, I am so excited for you! Hope you make a video on your experience.
So happy you’re able to go on your trip !

You can’t plan a party in two weeks??? I can plan one in one week with 50 guests. Plus diys

You decorate the back yard with balloons and rent a few tables and chairs and coordinate sting clothes and napkins and plain colored plates and cups. Invite his friends via email I could do come and do it

Watching from Ottawa 🇨🇦 Canada, still no snow ❄️ IYKYK
It's been oddly warm, although we don't usually see much snow until December. And even then it's often a green Christmas.

I haven’t heard of ‘Hey Dude’ shoes in Australia
That cars cake is so cool. I want that for my birthday and I’ll be 34 lol
I was going to mention Rothys- you said it first, washable and recycled material. I’ve wanted some for a while- a little out of my current budget, maybe soon 😊
Awesome Tim
I think Jackson just gets fomo, and honestly, same lol
I'm happy to see/hear when you make donations to places. I will have to look them up and see if we have anything we can donate too.
Glad you found another friend to go with. I so could have been that friend too.
Can I be your third child for the trip to SNW?

There's a Publix like that in Hollywood Florida on Youngs Circle.
big fan of pondering orbs
Was it the same friend who canceled on your cruise?
My husbands hey dude were getting stinky too so I soaked them in oxiclean in the tub. It helped with the smell, and made them look new. (:
This is the 2nd time someone has canceled on you.
There’s a women shelter in my town to n we have a thrift store where from the sales it goes towards the women’s shelter

Hey Tim there is a pickleball event in Orlando this weekend it is the major league pickleball playoffs
We have a place like that local to us that we donate to.
Hopefully you will get to see the Disney Treasure docked in NYC this week. Some of the UA-camrs are headed there for media previews.
It will be broadcast by Disney tomorrow night. I don't think they will be up there for it.
There's two vids up already that Jenn has posted that have her mentioning that she got back from her NYC Trip.
Fun
May be time to let go of This
