      And the older you get the smarter you get! Like putting down a carpet underneath your car so you're not crawling in dirt and gravel. Also when you get old you forget to empty your recycl bin and you end up with 10 GB of files LOL..... see 5:01 in video. I did that years ago based on your advice and it worked like a charm. Took the musty stink away. Rock on Mike The Hammer!!! ⚒️

      I looked for tools in the description and didn't find them. I thought duh... that was the other video. I found the previous video and watched them both through. I have added the cans to my shopping cart. My only question is: are the cans the links point to still compatible topped? I have spent a year fighting a very very weak a/c system in my 2009 Lincoln Towncar. Shop says all is well and I shouldn't expect it to be any better. 58 degree air coming out of vents when thermostat set to 60 degrees...

      The car I have has two drain pipes, one at the front and one at the rear of the car.
      The car has air con vents at back half of the car, as it is wagon.
      Should I do the same to both drain pipes or is the front one enough?

    Thanks for posting this video. I used the process as you describe on my truck last week. You're right, it does clean the system and gets rid of the stale, musty smell. Now it smells fresh and clean. One caution for anyone wanting to try it: When you run the AC right after cleaning, run it on lowest setting. If you have the blower set any higher it will blow some foam out the vents. After a few minutes it will all drain out then it's OK to let the AC blast a lot of freshness.

    Used this process to clean my evaporator on my 2003 Avalanche. I could not get the cold air like used to and knew it was probably crap on the evaporator and it was probably a lot so I ordered the cleaner on Amazon but one thing I did a little differently is I went to Walmart and looked for a can of sanitizer that I could attach to the small hose that came with the cleaner. I found Microban 24 Hour Sanitizing Spray which the hose and cap fit on perfectly. Just don’t go nuts spraying it in. Well everything worked like a charm, now I have cold A/C again! For the first time in years! Thanks!🙂

    I did this to my 2003 Tundra, right after your first video about this method came out. My wife said it totally solved the bad smell from the A/C vents. She hated riding in my truck before I did this. Now, she likes the fresh smell of my air conditioner. This works great and the liquid that came out of my truck looked terrible. No wonder my A/C smelled bad.

    Great video. An easier way to do this on some cars is to carefully drill a small hole on the top of the evaporator case if you can reach it. Be careful not to drill too deep only like quarter inch so that you don't damage the evaporator inside the case. It's not a high pressure system so you can seal the access hole with HVAC foil tape easily and still keep your air conditioning sealed. You may still need to plug the drain tube during the procedure. Keep in mind after running this foam cleaner your windshield may get fogged up from the leftover-chemical residue over time and also need cleaning. The evap-core ideally needs to be rinsed off after this process with white vinegar or a steamer through the access hole you made in the top of the EVAP coil case. You can also carefully pour hot water with a funnel. This procedure worked pretty well on my car however, the bacteria had been inside this car for so long that it permeated and ruined the upholstery and I couldn't get the bad smell out even with an ozone treatment.
    Ozone treatments can damage plastics and rubbe from oxidation. Some people have claimed good results using a chlorine gas, but be very careful with those kits. Do some research before trying these methods. Unfortunately, I'm going to auction off my car.

    At 70,000 miles I had the a/c system evacuated, flushed, and recharged. Doing this procedure twice while I had the car kept the a/c compressor from failing. I did it mainly for performance bumps, but the extended compressor life was undeniable. The Mercedes is now owned by my neighbor and seems to be fine. It now has 265,000 miles on it.

    Thanks for this great tip SPC! One thing my simple mind is struggling with if you read this one please: How does putting the Cleaner up the Drain Hose get the cleaner into your A/C System?
    I thought the drain hose is only excess water drain, so what/how is the cleaner suctioned up into the AC system to clean it out?
    Thanks - it's please help an A/C dummy day!

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  2 роки тому +11

      You have to remember that the drain tube is called your condensation drain and it comes right from your evaporator. So sticking the tube up in there puts the cleaner right into your evaporator area, the tube is like a main artery right to the heart of the system. Hope this explains it for you my friend, thanks for watching and asking, have a fantastic day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

    • @5metoo
      @5metoo 2 роки тому +4

      The cleaner cleans the outside of the evaporator by shooting it into the evaporator housing. The cleaner does not go into the air conditioner closed system that contains the refrigerant. It's the outside of evaporator he cleans, not the inside. The inside is sealed and clean.

    Did this, had to clamp it off. First the drain hose was dry and the tube wouldn’t go more than a few centimeters up, I sprayed a little it wet and then I could worm the pipe farther up into the drain pipe.
    Yeah ac on high had bubbles flying into car, lol, just put ac on medium or something low.

    I wonder if you could use a turkey baster or a tube with a rubber bulb on the end. "LubriMatic Battery Syringe Filler" comes to mind. Stick it into the drain tube to agitate the solution and introduce some turbulent flow up, through, and around the coil to break loose more debris and mold. It would take extra solution to do it, but the results may justify the added cost. Food for thought.
