People sleep on Norma. Everybody rushes to Hornady, Federal, and other brands and leaves Norma on the shelves. And those are two good, reputable, manufacturers. But Norma will definitely put food on the table as it did mine last year. Their white tail 150 grainer SPs do work on 200+ lb deer. Does minimal damage to the meat while creating excellent blood trails. With any projectile, or almost any, it’s about shot placement from the shooter. This is why it’s important to see what your rifle likes, and go with that. All of these rounds will do just fine in deer and other game.
No surprises with the Norma ammo group. I've totally switched to Norma in my .308 this year! I do a lot of thermal hunting on hogs, and good, accurate ammo matters.
The Norma look really interesting, do they come in 165 grain ? 165 grain for 308 is much like 180 grain units in my 30:06 !!! My guns just seem to like those weight bullets and are consistently more accurate !

I love norma. I don't know how much time you took between shots and the different groups themselves but I always like to shoot a hunting rifle cold barrel. As the barrel temperature rises, your groups will open up. If you didn't wait long between those several groups, they may actually shoot tighter with a cold bore. Still a great video. Thank you
I would like to see the grouping results when firing off a bipod, shooting bags and barriers. The Norma did produce a very tight group. Based on the target type for this video, and the price, I would go with Federal. As someone who has no interest in hunting, I don’t believe I will need Norma ammo.
S&B hpbt match 10,9g / 168 gr. Howa 1500 308 Win 26 barel, factory gradet 1 MOA at 100 yards and with this ammo i can put it in inside that 2,56 cm mark at 100 yards.
In this video, the Normas were .976 MOA, I just didn’t use the app until the later videos. And several were very close (1.09, 1.1, etc.). A few things I’ve thought about…(1) We don’t really put any “cool down” time between shots. Pretty much what you see is how it goes, and (2) I’ve thought about adding a cheek riser so I can get a more repeatable cheek weld. I think both of those things could potentially make a big difference. Most every load, though is under 1.3 if I remember correctly, which is pretty impressive when accounting for those couple of things.
@@ReviewThisThing I've harvested several deer and feral hogs with Federal Fusion 150 grain in East Texas. These bullets expand violently about 3 inches in and leave a large exit wound. Most of my shots are within 150 yards but they work great. 👍

As the barrel temperature rises, your groups will open up. If you didn't wait long between those several groups, they may actually shoot tighter with a cold bore. Still a great video. Thank you
Thanks so much. Great point!
lol the tight little group joke 😂. Nice shooting
Hehe. Thank you for catching that 😊😊😊 Thank you. And thanks for watching!
I would like to see the grouping results when firing off a bipod, shooting bags and barriers. The Norma did produce a very tight group. Based on the target type for this video, and the price, I would go with Federal.
As someone who has no interest in hunting, I don’t believe I will need Norma ammo.
That’s an interesting idea. I’ll have to look into to that. Thank you.
@@ReviewThisThing Thank you.
You bet.
I knew the winner the second you showed the box.
Great video.
Thanks so much! In Part 2 they show out again!
Norma runs very well in all my rifles. At the price point it's really hard to beat.
It definitely seems to be consistent! And you’re exactly right!
S&B hpbt match 10,9g / 168 gr.
Howa 1500 308 Win 26 barel, factory gradet 1 MOA at 100 yards and with this ammo i can put it in inside that 2,56 cm mark at 100 yards.
Very nice!!!
good rifle, decent ammo but a very good shooter. 1:20 .308 turns me into a big girl, i flinch big time XD
Haha. Thanks!!! Put a brake on it, and it’s a different world.
Great show and nice information thanks again
Thank you, Sam! I really appreciate that. Thank you for watching!
Ive watched all part of this serie! Really interesting but I dont understand why you dont have a sub MOA group.
I have had really good luck with those Fed Fusion factory loads. They usually shoot very nice groups.
It sure seems they do a good job! How do they do on game?
@@ReviewThisThing I've harvested several deer and feral hogs with Federal Fusion 150 grain in East Texas. These bullets expand violently about 3 inches in and leave a large exit wound. Most of my shots are within 150 yards but they work great. 👍
@@RickNethery nice! Thanks so much!
@@ReviewThisThing You're welcome Ma'am
@@RickNethery 😊😊
The fusion are good bullets. The weight is better.
The 150 grains did really well in a later test.
The ammo test are a favorite of mine thanks so much
Mine, too 😊😊
I love that Norma whitetail. Very accurate in 308 and 30-06. I have 2 boxes of the 308 evo strike by Norma but haven't tried them yet. I was wondering if you or anyone here has tried them yet.
Thanks so much for watching! I haven’t tried the Norma Strike yet - maybe someone else has? @who_tee_who?
I actually sided in my 308 yesterday and I used three different types of ammo. I had the best results with the Norma Evo strike
Nice. Thanks! We haven’t tried those.
@@NickVTA thanks for the info.
Surprising the fusion groups better than the buck masters considering they are the same bullet just different box. It must like the 165s more than the 150s in that one.
Must be. I got a 150 grain Fusion to try, too. Stay tuned.
According to Federal, they are not the same. The Fusion .308 ammo are loaded with flat base .308 bullets, and the Buckmaster .308 bullets are loaded with boat tail .308 bullets.
I don't have a 308 but I do have a cva cascade 6.5 creedmoor and I love it
Yes! I continue to be more impressed each time I shoot it. Thanks for watching!
I shoot the federal match 168 BTHP never failed me a very accurate round - countless white tails and big ones -truck load of hogs and numerous big gators never lost one and with no follow up shots needed
Ah. I haven’t seen those yet. I’ve never hunted with a match round. Thank you!
My favorite ammo is 168 or 175 Federal Gold Medal Matchking from my Ruger American Hunter.
I haven’t tried the Matchkings. Thanks!
I found Norma a year ago and I love them.
They’ve been amazing!
I’m a big fan of federal fusion 150g
That’s what I had been using because they were doing well. They’ll all do the job for sure! Thanks for watching!
In every caliber I end up liking federal fusion best and besides,,it has the best bonded bullet in it.
In Part 2, the 150 grain Fusion did great!
150-168 Feds always been my go to now it's feds and Norma lot of people having wonderful results with Norma, I don't hear people complaining I hear people talking highly of them that's what made me start using norman at our outside range in Jacksonville Florida Gateway gun club.
I'm an instructor in 4-H I'm on the range a lot and when I first seen many people using that particular ammo norma I like to ask shooter's what do you think I was hearing a lot of good results, so I started my own testing myself does very well at 100 - 300 yards.
Excellent! Thank you!
You're very much welcome.
@@nramorrisg8415 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My Tikka 308 does very well with Federal Fusion 150 grain.
I bought a box of those the other day. I’ll have to try them. Thanks!
165 grain SST 2.75 overall length reloader 15 42.3 try to find Federal match primers this load has worked and every 308 I've ever had always hung around 3/4 to little over half inch
Oh, wow! We haven’t gotten into reloading yet, but that sounds great!
The first group , first manufacture...done really good.
But ...I'd say 2 clicks up , 2 right if 1/4"moa @ 100yd...you be on the $
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Was given a couple boxes of Federal, havent used it all. Be using it this year hopefully.
They seem to shoot well!
I shoot Norma , Federal Core Lokt and Winchester Deer Season .308. 150grain . I get consistent groups with all 3. I don,t see much difference.
Good deal. Thanks!
If your rifle shot good with 168 gain should you keep shooting with the same grain?
Overall, it much prefers 150.
Honest review very well done
Thank you, Rudolph. I appreciate that. We have a Part 2, Part 3, AND Part 4 now, too. 😊
Federal Fusion 165 grain is very accurate and consistent for me
Thank you!
My savage 110 Apex .308 loves Norma 150gr
Awesome! Thank you!
I also like the Norma
They seem to work really well for accuracy!
Not sure y but norma seems to work in everything
You’re not lying!!!
The best ammo is the cheapest ammo. ❤
Not a bad point at all
Norma looks like the best one.
Continues to be the most consistent.
Best 308 ammo test
Oh wow! Thank you!
I am not sure if you did or not, but you need to swab/clean the barrel and let it cool down between sets to be a fair assessment.
Great point. We did not.

I must admit though, you sparked an interest in me in regard to the Norma. I have a box that I purchased during the last ammo shortage and really haven't paid much mind to it. Historically I have used Remington Core Lock or Winchester Super X for reasonable results and price. I think I will take the Norma to the range and see how my 308 likes it. Thanks!
@michaelhunt8486 you definitely should. Everything I’ve shot it out of loves it!
My kinber and Parker Hale loves 150 Hornady SST 45.4 Varget awesome
Good to know. I’ve not had good luck with SST!
YT just showed me this. This is a year old now. So did you hunt with the Norma during the year and how was it?
Hey! I'm glad it did show you. We have Part 2, 3, and 4, too. I did hunt with the Norma 150 grain soft point. He ran ~50 yards and dropped. No exit wound, though. My husband hunted with the Norma Whitetail (in 6.5 CM), and all of them had pass throughs with good blood. I will probably switch to those next year.
