Another thing I appreciate about their arrangements is that they don't use the same background sounds - it changes up in every chorus, in each phrase - from oooo to aaahh to echoing the phrase to bell tones. One time the background will be Mitch heavy, the next chorus will be Matt, etc - so they keep you totally engaged because they don't ever relax, creativity is in each phrase. The dynamics is another way that they vary and engage the listener - build up and pull back, build up, change lead and pull back. They are SO skilled at building outstanding arrangements. From what I understand, it's usually a group effort - someone will suggest a song, they'll get together and brainstorm/sing some parts and play with ideas. They then send their phone recording to Ben Bram (their long time arranger/producer) and he'll clean it up & put it to paper; they'll each work on personalizing their parts and then they get together and record. I love that even after 12 years together, they continue to improve, they continue to experiment and grow. Thanks for your enthusiastic reaction!

Omgosh, there's one even better, you've got to hear their new version of Oh Holy Night!! It is pure perfection! A Kiss from a Rose is wonderful, too!!
It's not Pentatonix that wants their videos blocked...it's the music company, and while some reactors have things blocked and other's don't is probably due to the algorithm attached to the decision. Anyway, millions will always listen to reactors with some filter used !!

I saw them in concert last week for the 5th time. In the concert, Kirstie layered "Little Toy Trains" on top of Mitch and Scott. It was magical.

PTX is the kind of group, that adds cinematic value, as the song warrants. No more, no less. Even if they go a little overboard, it always seems be the perfect choice. A good example of this, is My Favorite Things. Originally a very happy, upbeat song, but they darkened it up, with a gothic theme. While the scene is set in a darkened room with candles, the song is a feast for the senses. Three modulations, a faster pace and incredible vocal gymnastics. Kirstie slays in killer dress, and makeup.

While I appreciate and love all their earlier works, their sound has matured so much it is amazing. I agree that my favorite is the one I am listening to at the time.
😫👉Please don't say that PTX wants their videos/music blocked! It's the label that blocks them but PTX has no control over that.
The group LOVES their music being reacted to, they might even pop in to read some of the comments.

And it helps me feel brave to try to react to more of their music with the knowledge that my videos will sit in youtube jail until my appeals are approved. I am grateful to know that they love reactors. Sometimes that is NOT the case with the artist and reaction channels are looked upon as lazy or the "bottom feeders of UA-cam". Being a long time professional musician myself, I can't disagree with that thought process. So.... 😅

Just caught them in concert during the last night of their tour. I was lucky enough to end up in the front row of their B stage & they performed this song practically in my lap! It was amazing! They also interlaced a third song in with the two. Kirsten actually twined in Little Toy Trains while Mitch maintained the Christmas Time is Here melody & Scott kept up the Pure Imagination. It was definitely A MOMENT! Sigh.

Their Vivo live session videos as far as I have seen have not been blocked to much. Maybe look at their version of kiss from a rose on Vivo. Also if you loved this, you will get your mind blown by O Holy Night 😂

Only one word comes to mind EVERY TIME I hear this mash-up - STUNNING!!! The first time I listened to it, I literally sat there with my mouth hanging open with tears running down my cheeks!
Let's just face facts here - Pentatonix can do wrong! But year after year - consistently! - they outdo themselves with their GORGEOUS Christmas music!
The vocals! The harmonies! The seamless blending of two GORGEOUS songs! The beauty! The nostalgia! The whimsy!
I was instantly transported back to my chilhood. Sitting in front of the TV watching A Charlie Brown Christmas and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with eyes aglow, just WAITING for the morning to see what Santa would bring!
I simply can't WAIT to see how they blow us away next year!!!

Mitch said this was his favorite on the new album, that they were in complete harmony with each other for the whole process of this song. O holy night (it’s such a spiritual experience)and kiss from a rose (it’s beyond epic) are must as well. My favorite (Christmas ) is this, o holy night and o come all ye faithful, joyful joyful (specially the live version from their evergreen tour, when Mitch takes the lead). My favorite song over all is Can’t Sleep Love, specifically from PopSpring 2016!

I was out working in my yard today in June listening to this song. It really doesn’t matter what time of year it is when you listen to PTX. All of them are amazing vocalists and the arrangements are stunning. Plus their blending vocals are incredibly beautiful.
Perfect reaction! I would have said that maybe Gold, The Prayer, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Come Along, and Coffee in Bed were my favorites. Then Star on Top, That’s Christmas to Me, and Thank You as my favorite Christmas songs, but then this year happened! The live version of Kiss From a Rose (just, wow), the most epic O Holy Night that ever made me fall on my knees, (their second career recording of the song with this new arrangement showcasing their growth and maturity as artists) and this ridiculous loveliness, plus also from the new album the most lovely little rendition of Little Toy Trains. They have made me have to raise the bar in what I ever might have thought perfect was. I don’t know how they could be perfection and then be perfecter, but they are really in some kind of zone right now. Maybe it’s because they have basically been on tour all year, in Europe, Asia, Australia, the US and Canada, then dove directly into their Christmas tour. I saw them three times in one year, the 2022 Christmas tour, their Summer tour. And a couple weeks ago. Each show was better than the last! You’re a joyful musical human and I adore it! I seen them on the 11th in Greenville, SC, oh man, they were awesome and when they moved to the center stage they did this song and I had severe goose bumps watching perform this!!! It was so beautiful! Great reaction.
I'm going to steal part of a comment I saw posted by someone else and say this song brings to mind a vision of Snoopy, Charles Schultz, and Gene Wilder holding hands while ice skating on a frozen pond. Top hats down over their ears, winter coats open, and scarves blowing in the breeze.

You should really get to see PTX in concert. You will find that they really don't do a lot of "production in studio" when you are 10 ft away from them with no microphones and it still sounds exactly like the album version. These 5 voices have such range that they can do "layering" without a recording at all. So just remember they have to have the recording be the thing they can do live.

Ptx are my therapy:)) They have something otherworldly here. I remember feeling a similar hug-like warmth when they released the original 'Thank you' in 2021, and, earlier, with 'That's Christmas to me' in 2015(?). They have a particular gift for capturing nostalgia and genuine heartwarming, adult feelings in their Christmas originals.
*On the videos: I enjoy them but actually only use them as reference points for who is taking which part when their blend is defying my ear for their tone and range. Every single track requires close study from multiple listens to disentangle the parts, and they've become so good with composition that harmonic tricks are being used to hear more than just five voices. Of course there's multi tracking in studio versions but their lives don't lack!
Their new video of O Holy Night might be my current favorite.
You need to find a live version of this from their Christmas tour. Kirstie adds in another song to the mix. 'Little Toy Trains'. That was a BIG surprise when I got to hear them live 12/20/23.

The group puts together the initial "cut" of the arrangement, records it (on iPhone), and sends this rough to their long-time collaborator Ben Bram, who polishes the arrangement and does the sheet music. Would suggest the short documentary The Recording of Evergreen (here on UA-cam) for a peek behind the scenes, including working back and forth with Bram and each other on what finally makes it into the official recording.

Their music teachers, choir teachers and theater teachers must be so proud. You should react to Pentatonix video for "My Favorite Things". They put their special Pentatonix magic on it.
Absolutely delicious, and your delight is infectious as well. I’m appreciative of the absolute lack of vibrato, which helps their voices really blend like whipped cream and sugar. I also really love the gentle quality of their vocal sound. Some musicians seem to be belting ALL the time and I find that I react negatively to the sense of being yelled at and my defenses go up. This gentle ethereal stuff really hits in a different place for me. I don’t know how much of their arrangement is their own creativity or an absolutely brilliant arranger, but it’s all the best aspects of acapella singing in one rich place. I always adore a good tension and release harmony, and they’re awesome at it, and so much movement in those lines. This is modern musical composition at its best. It’s the musical equivalent of pavlova! Shout out to the sound crew who is balancing and producing all the bits and pieces to perfection. Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth lovely sound. Freddie Mercury did own a jacket very similar to Mitch's beautiful coat, so you're not wrong about the ressemblance! Those two amazing gentleman are my favorite vocalists of all time. I LOVE the new album, from being able to revisit old favorites to the absolute joy of the new songs. I have yet, despite multiple hearings, the be able to get through the one, or "O Holy Night" without tearing up--they don't make me sad, they just fill me with happiness (it doesn't hurt that the Charlie Brown Christmas came out when I was 5 and Charlie and the Chocolate factory was released when I was 10, bracketing the years when Christmas was the most exiting and magical. 2023 has been a tough year, filled with so much unkindness and ugliness, but these songs, sung by such angelic voices, are so sublimely lovely, such an antidote to all that, and remind me of all the beauty that still exists in the world.

I got to see them last month and they were awesome. It was my first time seeing them in concert since I started following them in 2016. I was totally blown away hearing them live. And it’s Sony who is fussy about the copyrights.
With Pentatonix they change songs cords to have a feeling - If you watch any of The Sing off season 3 - Pentatonix in their young age, 19 for Scott, Kirstin, Mitch - It's interesting

My favorite?? Ah, the impossible question. As a dedicated fan since I watched them win The Sing-Off in 2011, there is Absolutely no way to choose a favorite song. They just keep getting better and better, and I agree 100% with your "yummy goodness" comment. 😂 However, if I was forced to choose only one, I think I'd have to say The Prayer from last year. Pure heaven. Oh, and I've been blessed to see them in person 3 times, and they are just as awesome live. Plus, you get to see their delightful personalities as well! You don't need to apologize for stopping and going back. We pentaholic do not mind at all and there are plenty of reactors who do it. They are so good at their mashups I too have always wondered how they come up with the songs that they're going to mash together. I think it's a trade secret like the ingredients in Coke or Secret Sauce although I think we know now. What you are experiencing is called an eargasm. I really want to know where they put their wings at when they are singing

Please review Pentatonix "Kiss from a Rose" and Oh Holy Night" (even though not Christmas. ) You will be just as amazed! People whp prepare their review with blurred video or print Copyright through the middle of the video have an easier time with approval. There are so many songs waiting for you!!!!!

Its not PTX, they love reactors...its SME, their label, along with UA-cam that block videos.
The most common ways I see to get around copyright issues with ptx and several other bands, is to either make it more transparent, put a filter like water drops on it, blur it, or put large text across it like "copyright".

Another option is to not alter it and instead dispute it and let the video sit in youtube jail for a few days or weeks and then it will likely get posted.
Altering the video upfront seems like the easier option to me.

christi ,aussie here again . i'd love to get your take on something from one of our local performers . that i came across a few days ago . which i think is pheromonal .up there if not better then some of janice's songs when she lets loose . it's kasey chambers doing a cover of M&M "loose yourself " .this is for me a whole different ,higher level of connection .she makes it her own
