I will keep repeating myself. It's great when someone can demonstrate a synth by playing keys, with musical intention, and good taste
hi sasarasa88, totaly aggree, ive made that same comment on many yuoutube videos, most synth demonstratoes just set up a squencer/appagiator [ and mearly twist knobs ] and dont demonstrate what, in my opinion is what a mono synth was originaly dsighned for, eg the minimoog was desighned so that a keyboard player could rival a guitar solo, so if you are into synth solos you might like my channell "carl aylward" where i demonstrate original [ even the few videos that do play proper solos are normaly covers , like by rick wakeman etc. ] proper lead line improvised solos, which is rare on you tube, one video is a static moving picture video, the other a normal moving video featureing the behringer modal D, , and make a comment if you wish to . cheers. carl
100% agreed.
Honestly, as much as I desperately wanted one of these I decided to wait because I figured my music didn’t really need one. If I had known that’s it’s actually capable of making music, instead of just epic droning blares, maybe I would have one already.
As I see it, it is a serious monosynth that you can greatly expand with eurorack modules. So yes, good for all kind of noises but equally capable for tones and melodies. I am actually having a blast creating tones on it and sampling them for playing like a polyphonic synth
agree 100%. People who dislike that vid are probably those who are into the techno noise uniformity
This might be the first time I've heard actual music from a Grandmother. Thank you Sir.
Right! Most demos are just random arps with no feel or melody
@@Kombi-1 or endless knob turning with oscilloscope screens
You kind of forget how beautiful and organic and human synths can sound, don't you. This more has the feeling of watching someone play violin or something than a Terminator repeatedly punching a dubstep drop into your face.
Ok boomer....as my kids would say to me :-))) True what you say though....
🤣🤣🤣🤣 @ "a terminator repeatedly punching a dubstep drop into your face"
That's not a demo: it's a well thought out composition and a demonstration of mastery of an instrument. I've been listening to it as I would with any great piece of music.
Thanks Christophe!
tears for fears at 2:25

I've played the grandmother in the shop a few times and to me it captures the magic the original Minimoog had (has) and adds to it. This is an instrument. Period. Bob Moog would have loved this.
Hey. I am layed up on my couch, recovering from a big knee reconstruction. I have been listening to a ton a ambient music to help chill. I stumbled here going down the Moog rabbit hole.
This piece is absolutely wonderful. I've got it on repeat and it is truly helping me out. Thank you for this.
Cheers from Victoria BC
Coincidence wills it that i am likewise recovering from leg reconstruction after the damn flesh eaters ... and i can only echo and underline your words ... this is wonderful consolation and joy. Hope you are well again!
@@organesdescanales I'm glad that music has helped you! I'm now some months out and still not 100%, but better everyday! Incidentally, I am probably getting a Grandmother tomorrow! All the best to you and yours and best of luck on recovery 🤙
I just had a hip replacement haha.
This is the most beautiful synth that's come out in a long while. Simple and yet versatile. Beautiful and elegant.
I wasn't even interested in this synth until now. Nice display of musicality and expressiveness. Thanks
THAnk you. So often I feel like my interest in synths is making me a worse musician because of the taste and musical skill level of the people demonstrating them in online vids. Nick Batt stands wonderfully against this trend, as you have here. Some beautiful and inspiring playing and ideas. I look forward to watching again.
thanks James!
Gosh, sometimes your videos show up at just the right time and it really makes my day. This is inspired, the whole way through. I don't doubt it when the children's choir sings that this is the best synth you've ever played. ^.^
This is my fave demo of any piece of gear on youtube...really inspiring and 100% made me buy the synth...fantastic.
Oh grandma, what hairy arms you have!
lol :D
The better to play a moog with my dear!
I literally thought the same thing and looked in the comments to see if someone said it lmao
bbwoolfy I’m in the club!
My GranMa got no hair on HER arms ! - (but she got hair in the a.. !,) Im too funny for my hat !
Yup. I just ordered a Grandmother, very much because of this video. I think it's the best demo of the Grandmother on the UA-cams. Thank you for the inspiration! I can't wait to get her plugged in! 🤙
Really one of the best synth demos I've ever seen/heard! Many thanks!
Such an excellent demo dude. And what a synth. That spring reverb halo around the sound really gives it such a vibe. They totally nailed this one.
lol
Is it an external reverb?
Okay it's an infernal reverb, the red knob on the right
@@NaraMouth Yes, it's an INFERNAL reverb, personally designed by the devil.
I really appreciate the musical sensibilities that you're demonstrating in this demo. You're whole channel is really cool!
Your*
I've watched dozens and dozens of GM demos and jams over the last couple of months and this was by far the best. Absolutely beautiful, very musical, wonderful compositions. Thank you.
Wow that's high praise, thanks!
Compositions? How do you know he ain't just goofing around?
I love this. The sounds, the melodies, the concept, the videos and samples. I could listens to it for hours. Thank you
Your demo is fantastic! The brilliant use of GM!
Wow - I never normally watch synth demos all the way through but this was brilliant. Great sounds and played with real skill.
What a delight! Fabulous synth & extraordinary playing
THIS is dope! Chills at 17:00. Thanks for sharing on the most overlooked synth on the market right now.
Its so Vince Clarke...magical moments
Or Tycho
Such a great melodic player . Bravo 🎩
Was on the fence about getting this, but after this demo I had to place the order. Thanks for a fantastic video!
I think it’s worthy of a permanent place in synth history. And is now my favorite Moog ever! Peace Christo 👽👽🛸🛸🎶🎶👏🏻👏🏻🐕🐕👍🏻👍🏻🔦🔦🕺🕺✌🏻✌🏻🤖🤖🙏🙏❤️❤️
agreed.
I’m about to get one of these. Thanks for the reassurance in the decision. You’re a awesome musician.
This is great! Fresh, entertaining and properly musical. That intro song was hilarious too.
thanks!
That sound and riff just before the 19 minute mark is so beautifully Lorn
Thank you for this video. I owned, and loved this synth. I had to sell it when times got tough a couple years ago. You made my decision to purchase this once again and keep it forever very easy. Thanks again!
I own one of these...and it is amazing! One of the best moogs ever!
You nailed it, man! What a powerful performance!
I could listen to you play this forever...
Sooo beautiful! And remarkable!! I love all of the little samples throughout too!
I have enjoyed my Moog GM now for two months. What a delightful instrument. She has real character and stands out in my set-up. It is one of those rare instruments that seemingly communicates with you in finding sounds, patterns and melodies.
Totally agree. It's a special synth.
So glad you went ‘full youtube’. Love your content ❤️
fantastic demo brother, nothing quite like a simple synth to let you concentrate on the art of making music.
first introduction to your channel. beautiful! this is the first moog I've actually ever wanted. such timbres! reminds me, at times, of the minibrute & arp odyssey. or vice versa. honesty, really enjoy your playing & the style of the video in general. that plucked sound when you slow the arpeggiator. gosh.
Great demo. Now I started to miss my old Moog Rogue...and this grandma is really tempting :)
Brilliant! Demonstrated with absolute love to the instrument
Such a nice demonstration of the synth, love it!
Thank you for posting this downright inspiring demo of a beautiful instrument and masterful use of it...
I've been listening to this like a record. Nice music!
the way u transition throughout the performance is what gets me as well. i bet u have some great albums youve made
Listening to this beautiful synth and playing with crickets chirping outside, quite nice!
Great vid man! Just got one of these a few months ago and you really make this thing sing!
You,re realy good on this machine. That,s what a demo should be, with music and soul
I had this video playing in the background while i was online shopping. T'was very soothing.
I use to watch this singing granny almost once a week and it's so nice to hear 😍😍😍
Great that some one really plays it. No bla bla or just turning every knob even knowing what your doing.
So dope, man. This synth is an instant classic and hands down my favorite out of the synths i have.
It has "that" sound.
🍻
this demo was so awesome !
I want one now !!!!!
finally a good demo on youtube.. probably the best actually, was gettin g tired of those retail store guy messing around with moog equipment without style. This Wonderful. Definitely want to buy a GrandMother now.
I missed a Grandmother event here in Seattle the other day because of work ;( Glad that you made this vid! Thanks.
Amazing Video & Performance! I bought the Grandmother a month ago along with a Make Noise 0-Coast. They're my first analog synths. I patch the 0-Coast into the Moog via the Noise circuit & two work unbelievably well together. I can't play as well as you can, but this is so inspiring.. thanks for this!
GM + 0-coast sounds like a lovely combo, east meets west.
Damn, you are so good. Love your videos and music. I learned a lot from you and I can't thank you enough!
I can't wait you to make EP's and music
Beautiful. Thank you for posting this.
This is just phenomenal
Thats beautiful, thank you. Just bought mine after watching your video.
I almost started crying. This is exactly how I want to play and learn on this!
Best synth videos. Wish I could get music lessons off this dude
First sound is mega straight away. Great demo thanks👍
That was beautiful.
This synth is actually as amazing as you think it is. It’s a joy to use and play.
Thank you for playing actual music!
This was beautiful, thank you.
sounds lovely n nice playing too
Loved the arpegios (4:22 and on, all of them).
I'm hypnotized..beautiful.
4.23 onwards takes me to a strange and wonderous place, what a great demo of the GM
unbelievable demonstration! thanks… greetings from berlin
This is too beautiful
This is just beautiful :))) Takes the edge of the quarantine.
This video is in my "Chill and Dream" playlist now, this is not only a demo...
Doesn't have anything to do with the way it sounds, but the colors are rad
And it's good, how a synth looks and feels to the touch are part of the experience and inspiring potential :)
finally a demo of this synth that does not suck. bravo
Beautifully played
A very well earned sub.
Can't wait to own one !
Very nice ... it does have a unique sound.
This is the video that sold the synth to me. I had little to no interest in it before, thinking that it was just another piece of gear riding on the modular hype train, but holy hell can this lady sing!
And yes, it is an absolute joy to play!
Finaly will have my one grandmother soon!!! 💥🖤
this synth is nothing without that man playing it
this is a beautiful synthesizer...it seems so intuitive too...i like your music making in this video. :)
Wonderful demo.
I was looking for a synth to replace the Sirin towards the top of my wish list since the price jumped way up, and I think this is totally it. It has a warm beautiful tone, with the ability to get more distorted if desired. Cool demo :)
I don't know anything about anything but I know I like this...a lot.
Sounds great!
Are you showing how good the synth is, or is the synth showing how good you are? 🤔 It's the perfect match.
A good demo at last! Ty
really love this video, thank you
This is a real modern classic. I had one and sold it. My biggest synth regret so far and I’m buying another in a couple weeks. It’s just too good.
Beautiful!
May be the best instrument ive heard in years.
Great demo, Subscribed!
4:23 to 10:10 is amazing! so much tension and build with those filters
Wow, a very musical synth! Great demo!
All synths are musical if not their players!
This sounds amazing. Very 1970s documentary vibe. The grandmother is one of my greatest gear purchases ever. I love it. I’ve been thinking about what to pair with it, and I feel like for a poly synth I would need something like a Prophet 5 for this kind of pure tone. Hoping the Take 5 might be an option, but may have to look at the Prophet 5 or 6 modules.
I have a Juno 106 and just got a grandmother. They are the bestest of friends
12:34 Sounds like the Godfather theme ;)
okay! fine! I'll buy one... don't have to be so pushy.
