    Well I was going to do a full text post on Reddit detailing the playstyle, mindset, items choices, etc. to go along with it but time's an issue these days so here’s just a small blurb based on some of your comments.
    Ying first and foremost is a healer. At least 70% of the game you should be playing safe, keeping illusions up in good places, and looking out for enemies. Dimensional link combos are very risky. In the early game, try to focus on keeping your team alive, keeping 2 illusions up at all times and placing them in good spots where they have open lines of sight. Healing is worth more in the early stages because it isn’t reduced by cauterize as much as later on. Once you get some items up and everybody else has high levels of caut, you can look for ways to utilize your offensive potential to better impact the game.
    After her healing buff in OB68, she's definitely not a shit healer if you know what you're doing. It just requires a lot more skill in knowing the maps and angles at which you can achieve maximum line of sight exposure with your illusions. I've seen decent Ying players reach massive healing numbers using Lifelike that outperform good Dambas and Serises. Personally that's not my style as you can see here, but it is still possible to obtain high levels of healing while still dishing out damage.
    How it works is this: Illusions that are summoned will heal an ally for 420 immediately, then go on a 1.2s cooldown before it can heal again. The high healing output of this playstyle comes into play when you are comboing Q with F summoning a large amount of illusions at one time that all output those 420 bursts, ignoring the 1.2s cd time and making it possible to do more healing in that period than if you just left 2 illusions out. An example of this is at 11:39 where I was able to keep not only myself alive but also Nando and Maeve in that hectic point fight. Illusions by the way, will always target the lowest HP character in their range first.
    Overall there are a lot of factors that go into how much you help your team as a support, healing is only 1 of them and not always the be all end all. What you see on the end-match stats screen is not the entire picture and can often times be misleading. Things that Ying brings to the table that you don't see at the end are: damage absorbed by Illusions, damage taken (essentially damage tanked), and self healing. All of which she does better than any other support and all of which significantly help your team fight for the objective.
    Items: Chronos increases your damage and healing, Cauterize when needed. Kill to Heal if you're feeling yourself.
    The original Ying guide if you're interested: www.reddit.com/r/Paladins/comments/60jrn2/capslock_guide_to_ying_the_way_she_was_meant_to/
    Thanks for all the comments and good luck :)

      When you say that you can heal more by comboing Q and F, does that mean if you DL to a clone it instantly heals, or do you mean that you have to shatter/have an enemy kill your clone and then DL to spawn a new one with rewind? If you have to shatter the clones, then wouldn't that mean you lose out on healing/s since shatter takes 2.5 seconds to explode while the clones heal every 1.2s?

    • @maxinator2869
      @maxinator2869 6 років тому +1

      Look up the video and the mechanics. Yings illusions have a 1.2second cooldown on healing. If you put up 2 with Q and explode them instantly, you can then revive both instantly with F. This means instant spawn healing again, without the 1.2 second cooldown. The illusions themselfes (with only 20% HP) will go down quickly though, making it able to instantly repeat the process in a heated fight, even without shatter. And shatters cooldown has own loadout cards to bring the cooldown even further down.

    • @maxinator2869
      @maxinator2869 6 років тому +6

      One simple question though...
      Why not morale boost? Her ult is an absolute gamechanger and loadout changes can easily change her cooldown further. You only get milliseconds out of chronos, while on huge costs. I personaly play chronos only on skills with "massive" cooldowns.
      Btw: This is one of the most detailed, skilled and optimized guides for paladins, that I have ever seen. Insane work and some huge thanks for the video. I love to see people digging deep into the games they love.

    • @nTGenTLemen
      @nTGenTLemen 6 років тому +1

      The Maxinator So what you're saying is that you're relying on enemies to kill your clones so that u can spawn new ones with DL? If you put up two clones and shatter, you'll have to wait for the clones to actually explode (2.5s) unless they're killed--meaning they could have healed more in that timeframe if they weren't shattered

    • @maxinator2869
      @maxinator2869 6 років тому +1

      Bob Blekins look up the loadouts you can build for her. You can lower the cooldown on shatter down to 0.5 seconds with a level 5 Brittle card.
      Your point is taken, but your argument misses two important points:
      a) You can teleport between your illusions to draw fire onto them, because the enemy will try to take you down.
      b) With a 0.5sec cooldown on shatter you can cycle between shatter and respawning them with F, even if they didn't take any damage. This still makes em heal every 0.5-0.6 seconds if you are a god on your timing.

    i literally used to live of this vid some time last year and then i stopped playing paladins. two days ago my friend started playing and i am starting to get into it again (even tho the games fucked). i decide to play ying, i got 12,000 dmg and 4,000 healing. lets just say i didn't cope well. so out of disbelief i tried her again in hope i was still op with her (btw im an average player and my best ever damage was 200,000+ with ying). so during the match i tried to remember everything from this video. i finished that match with 187,000 dmg and 120,000 healling. i am now back to this godly video to refresh and become better. ngl tho i'm surprised it hasn't got millions of likes

    Hey bud. Some redditor linked to this guide and i was skeptical at first because the video was old and i thought the playstyle might not be viable anymore, and closed the tab. so im then watching a competitive resonance ying vid and someone in the comments said "if u wna learn to play this type of ying, look onto the art of ying video by red rover, he explains everything this guy does in detail and this playstly is super unique and fun to play" and i immediately came back here, watched the whole ass vid. slowed down bits, replayed a ton of stuff, about to try this all out in shooting range and bot matches! i went through your yt and reddit histories a bit and man, youve made so much great content over the years!
    So i just wanna say thanks, as a new(6 months or so) paladins player for all the work and effort youve put into this game and into the community. Hope this comment finds you well~

    I'm really happy that I saw this. I was getting very discouraged with Ying because it seems like I'm constantly (like EVERY game) getting shit for using resonance. Even in games where we easily won I've had people tell me that picking resonance is akin to throwing because life exchange is so much better. I've also had people remember me as the Ying who uses the wrong legendary. I really wish people would let others play the way they want to instead of shoving meta down other people's throats. I'd RATHER play with Resonance because I prefer the playstyle and it feels a lot more fun. Seeing you in action only further proves just how fun/satisfying Resonance can be. Anyways, thank you for the very helpful and motivating video! It was well made and seeing all the examples and combos made everything a lot more easier to understand and follow. ❤️

    I am a healer main, but out of all healers, I seldom use ying because it doesn't only require a good aim but also a very strategic mindset. But using ying is always gonna be exciting and challenging. Seris and Jenos was kinda boring tho, a main pick for newbie players who mainly playin' safe. Pip was flexible and his weapon blast effect was just a big help as a damage healer. I use grover to aid the team with additional healer frontliner like lifeline and more likely a sniper, haha. Lastly damba and grohk as casual healer, I am a damba main tho'. Using Ying, one must act wise and fast. Using 'damba, one must fire accurately and using reload efficiently.

    Okay, so my friend is a Yong main (How we call dmg Ying in our server) and I always looked pretty silly whenever we go double support and she sometimes outdamage our dps and outheal me. Then recently, she started playing Saati and she shreds with it but she also is very good at using her cardboard illusion, like really good. And she said "Yeah, it's like Ying without the teleport".
    I didn't understand at the time but then she sent me this vid to explain dmg ying and how to play her. And now... I get how she is so good at this.
    Alright, that convinced me. I'll try out Resonance Ying.

    I never thought Ying could be used this aggressively, I only use her as a support should be when I tried her out for the first time. But thanks to this video, I can be as aggressive as my other main champions, thank you for this video.

    Nice transitions between the POTGs . And gg for the Ying plays! But still, what is your mindset? Support/Attack/both?

      In the early game, try to focus on keeping your team alive, keeping 2 illusions up at all times and placing them in good spots where they have open lines of sight. Healing is worth more in the early stages because it isn’t reduced by cauterize as much as later on. Once you get some items up and everybody else has high levels of caut, you can look for ways to utilize your offensive potential to better impact the game. :)

    I watched this video a year ago when I thought resonance was shit, I was just playing it like focusing lens and that’s wrong lol
    I came back and watched and noticed I’m doing the basics of what you’re doing and if I just get used to doing this I’ll literally be doing more damage than Vivian lol

    people say ying is useless because she isnt good in healing, but once u turn ying into a annoying and dmg machine she is powerful, ying can do a bunch of things all at once, she can flank, dmg, annoy people, and body block powerful ults that can save ur team, she's like a another evie XD this is y i LOVE ying, she will always be my favorite healer in paladins, and im glad to see some great ying players, its quite rare to find one now, ying is bae, ying is life XD, love the vids keep u the good work bro u deserve more subs for it
    and for those who dislike the vid r people who thinks healers can only heal, and thats where ur wrong :)

    Truly an amazing guide! At first, I was skeptical about the "Advanced guide" on the title (being a Ying main) but in the first minute of the video, my jaw dropped!!!
    I think you covered everything about the skills and combos, even talked about mistakes to avoid but you missed the Load outs and Legendary cards. Oops, sorry! Talents...
    Subscribed, cause I like pineapple on pizza!!!

    • @RedRover
      @RedRover  6 років тому

      Yeah there was a lot I missed but the talents are up to you, just know that you won't be getting the explosion damage from illusions that die if you're not Resonance. Some other stuff I cover in the pinned comment so check that out if you haven't :)

      Ruckus slow or immobile? tf!

    • @marcussawyer4751
      @marcussawyer4751 6 років тому

      Yeoh Jia Cheng yeah you are slowed by a lot, but the dashes are useful to throw off the enemy aim and or avoid damage instead of absorbing it like a punching bag, that's why you have to constantly move and reposition during recharges.

    • @marcussawyer4751
      @marcussawyer4751 6 років тому

      Yeoh Jia Cheng resonance is the best legendary for ying, not only she manages to output a lot of healing(if your allies are not stupid).
      Most of the flanks will undervalue her same for tanks, and if she teleports two exploding illusions to your face... you will rarely be able to dodge them.

    • @marcussawyer4751
      @marcussawyer4751 6 років тому

      Yeoh Jia Cheng and that's why i prefere resonance, so i can estract and go back in when needed to weaken enemies before your team or a well placed illusion ends them

    Very interesting and highly informative video. I will keep this in mind when practicing with Ying. I don't suppose you could do a guide on Grohk? He's my main, and I feel people tend to underestimate him and what he's capable of. I would also enjoy a few pointers and extra tips.

    I feel Ying is underated by a lot of people....which is fine with me cuz it means she is more likely available. My highest heal was with her life exchange - 233k, so now I'm hooked! :) Gonna have to try the resonance on onslaught first.
