I asked my dad this. When he was a teen he went to jail for having drugs on him until he turned 18. Then he was released. 1984-1988. He said the music and fashion had changed so much. He had always been into hevey metal bands and by the time he got back on his feet they were pretty much not on the radio anymore. He said that and the way people treated him when he said he had been locked away for drug possession. He had weed and shrooms on him. People assumed he had heroin and meth. If anyone is wondering, he is doing great now, a dad of 4 and a pretty cool guy. He isn't mixed up in any of that shit now.
I worked with a 64 year old guy who was fascinated by it so much he learned to build his own 4K VR gaming rig and of course he has a Steam Account. He was old-school but the new tech fascinated him. This guy said he met Janis Joplin that's how old we are talking
I actually know what happened with Legos. The company realised that the market for ordinary bricks was only so large. Once people had some, they didn't need to buy more. So they went into collectibles.
That makes sense, given generic Lego is so versatile you need something that'll keep the whales buying. That and the fact the very concept of gender neutral toys is pretty much extinct (Guardians of Harmony failed, too)
@@Wiimeiser I'm quite sure that gender neutral toys are becoming even more of a thing nowadays with the concept of gender equality becoming a prominent social issue today. For example, Easy Bake released a black oven because it was gender neutral and they wanted to accommodate for the few boys that played with them.
The standart legos are the lego classic range, and they're my favorites now. The rest is just so focused... I feel like toys are more gendered than ever especially after the lego friends thing and so on. Idk but when i read oldschool toy pamphlets (like moulin roty for ex.) they are divided between plushes, objects, and figures; not between boy toys and girl toys. The current movement is making neutral toys That were made heavily gendered during the past decade, and I'm afraid it won't work.
Humans love complexity and detail, but they also love practicality. So the Lego 'engineers' set out and design parts that add more detail and playability but can also be used in other future sets or custom built sets.... at least, I think that was the original intention. Now the Lego group will crank out sets with very specific pieces with custom printed 'brands' for whatever set it's from. In other words, Legos will get to a point where no more imagination will be used when designing figures or certain complex parts and those will all be 3D printed.
Idk, the gender division between toys annoyed me as a kid. The age divisions annoyed me too. I felt like the pamphlets were telling me where to look. And none of the pages really interested me anyway. In fact I wasn't really into toys. With few exceptions, I was mostly into books. Also, felt-tip pens. Pens don't judge You, they don't tell You what to do, and don't underestimate You.
Just Some Random Wolf have a heart attack 😂. Or think they were in some form of heaven. But that would make a really good movie with someone from the 1600-1800s who was zapped into 2020.
I've always considered this, it doesn't even have to be 1600s, most of these guys are 10-15 years old. But I always think of getting someone from the bible. Can you imagine? I honestly doubt they'd be able to survive a month! We do everything different, we eat different foods, we have different laws, there are so many newly discovered people, places, animals, ways to die, enjoyment etc. The inventions would amaze someone from 100 years ago, let alone 2000 years. I honestly believe that someone from the past would die from an over dose, electrocution, getting knocked over, an STD, etc. Things that are obvious to us would be unimaginable to them.

I find it shocking that prison cells seem to serve as time capsules for these prisoners. I kinda get why technology is banned in prison though... but still...
Well not really shocking, if you stayed in a room for ten years you can clearly contrast your life before bars and life after. Prison serves to punish and correct criminals

Same, i remember when me and my friends would go to video city (video rental in our country) after school and would look for movies to watch at my home. Having a membership card is something you can brag about back then haha. We would also swap movies to watch before its deadline/expiration date.
There was a videostore literally 5 minutes from where I lived! Whenever me and my sis were good or it was Friday, my Dad would drive into the alleyway behind some small apartments and park right outside the small establishment (he had a membership card which I didn't know what its purpose was). 13:03 out of context but I love how a lot of people who english wasn’t their first language apologize for bad English despite not making any grammatical errors and I want to compliment them for their good English
This reminds me of the Shawshank Redemption movie and the scene when old man Brooke came out of prison after serving his sentence for most of his life. He came out as an old man, the world has moved on. Cars everywhere, people dressing and talking differently. Interactions being differently. He ended up killing himself because living for so long in prison completly out of touch with the world made him feel like he was no longer part of it. Prison life was the only life he knew. Now granted the film and the book are based in the early and mid 20th century, so certain advancements were a lot more dramatic relativly speaking for those characters and ..well its fictional, but this idea just makes me sad for people that served many, many years in prison. Being excluded and isolated from sociey for years, not knowing what is going on in the world. The things you missed out on, regardless if they were good or bad..man its scary. Imagine coming out of prison as a 30 year old adult and you have the knowledge of a toddler about the world and how things work. Like every single thing. Fucked up in a way. It
If Red can smuggle in a rock hammer and a Rita Hayworth poster, you'd think someone could smuggle in the occasional newspaper. Hell, you'd think the library would get newspapers, even before Andy took over. It's not uncommon for prisons, dentists, and kebab shops to just get yesterday's newspapers for free and be one day behind. Plus, you got new prisoners coming in all the time, with their stories of life outside. Brooke was let out and he was all like: "I've heard nothing of this strange new world". And think about it: We see Brooke's story in the form of a letter he wrote to the people back inside...what about all the other former prisoners? How come none of them wrote letters saying, "Careful, guys! There are a lot of cars out here now, and people insist on double bagging! Make sure you don't hang yourselves!"
Lol all these posts reminded me of the movie. That and a movie called Life (with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence). If you haven't seen it, I recommend it 😊

The Conservatives, ( Classical ) Liberals and Socialists are far tamer.
13:30 damn this one made me sad, he knew he was old but didn't realize that he's like grandpa to younger people and tried to be a gentleman when he looked like the one who needed the seat
@@fawksntrawks LOL. She was trying to show respect by giving up her seat to him. He just didn't understand that and probably didn't realise how old he looked. I once befriended my neighbours brother who went to live with him after being in prison for 25 years. Man, he was overwhelmed by everything. I kinda took it upon myself to teach him about the modern world. It took months for him to understand the internet, i taught him about social media and the dangers of it, netflix, bluetooth etc... He moved away a few years ago cos he landed a new job. Saw him earlier today cos he was visiting his brother for christmas. Hes stayed out of trouble and has managed to get a decwnt grip on modern society. Butgoddamn this world was downright alien to him when he first got out.
Reminds me of that scene from Shawshank Redemption. The old man, Brooks, "I saw an automobile once when I was a kid, but now they're everywhere! The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry."
I'm sure Brooks thought the world was moving as fast as a cheetah. Compared to now, the world back then would make the then snail seem like it's moving as fast as a cheetah. Everything aside from travel is either instantaneous or nearly instantaneous. I wonder what that will mean in another 30 years when the 21st century is halfway over?
I've never gone to prison, but I too am a little irritated by touch screen orders at restaurants. I just want someone to take my order, I don't want to have to spend 10 minutes finding what I want and then dealing with all the custom items.
Ximkai I thought I would find them annoying, but it's really nice when you want to change what's on your hamburger and you can just make all the changes on the screen without having to explain them to an employee and hoping they get it right. They can still mess up making it, but it halves the chance of them screwing up your order. You also can see what does come on it without having to ask.
It's helpful for people like me who suffer from social anxiety. I stutter and speak pretty quietly, so touch screen ordering machines are godsends for me.
meanwhile i prefer the touch screen ordering because i hate having to bother the cashier directly about the customizations i want on my food also im hard of hearing and get nervous im bothering them 💀💀 im just a pussy hahahah
Ikr. Personally, I don't have wifi where I live, so I put the resolution on 240p to preserve data. It's just high enough of a res to where I can read the words clearly, while preserving as much data as possible. Sometimes I put the video on 480p and it amazes me at the difference between the resolution. Whenever I get places that have wifi, and I'm able to bump up the res, to say, 720 or 1080, it seems like 4k to me.
Imagine still being a gentleman after getting out of prison. Getting up to give a women your seat, only to have her call you a misogynistic pig... Dude was probably like, wtf?

I feel like somebody who went in during the 90's and just get out would absolutely crap themselves when they hear modern music....and not in a happy way
I always wondered what it would be like if we could take someone from the past and show them all the gadgets that we have now, but this video made me realize all I need to do is go to a prison and show my smartphone to a guy who's been there since the 80's. XD
I'm 21, never been to prison, not sheltered, nothing at all related to this video, but that story about the guy trying to give up his seat on the bus to that lady, that's something I think most people, regardless of who they are, would be shocked and confused by. Like, since when does it make sense to get angry at someone for offering to be polite? I can't understand it. Similar things have happened to me and every time, I've just said "Why are you getting angry over someone trying to be polite? I didn't even do anything to you, I just held the door open for you, what's wrong with you? In what world is it okay to get angry and yell at someone for holding a door open for you? You don't even have to thank me or acknowledge it, just go about your day, don't freaking yell at me for trying to be helpful to a stranger, that makes no sense!" I swear, the level of sanity in the world has gone down drastically in just the few short years I've been alive.
Wow they really don't give any skills to reintegrate into society and have a second chance, no wonder so many go back in. That kid born in prison and only got out as a teen... now that's an interesting story for a film right there.

Honestly, one of my biggest fears is false accusation. And being jailed for a long time cause of it. If that happens, boom, life gone (or a good portion of it) just like that, thanos snapped. Your now in a cell for nothing. Nope. No reason. Now your in there for years. Hope you have fun!
This just reminds me of the scenes from Shawshank Redemption where Brooks and Red are released back into society: Red was a somebody on the inside and a nobody on the outside. Poor ol' Brooks almost murdered an inmate just so he could stay in prison. It's tragic. I know correctional facilities and punishments are important and necessary, but to isolate people so intensely and for so long is just detrimental if they are to be eventually released and expected to function as regular citizens.
6:15 Even though I've avoided a cell, this shit is crazy to me. You'd memorize your buddies number and if you were lucky enough to have a straw and a buck you could try call their home on a pay phone (And not have to pay). Otherwise you just rode by, knocked on the door and crossed your fingers

These stories remind me of my father. He had a stroke recently and lost alot of memories, like how phones and TV work. I explain it to him, he's amazed and tomorrow he forgets. So I explain it again and hes amazed all over again. But alot of the time he gets mad because he feels stupid for needing constant explaining and some part of him knows that he used to know the workings of a TV remote. But on good days, his enthusiasm for a "new" thing is so infectious.
So true about the having to hope someone was home aspect, or the no constant worrying about what someone is doing because they didnt text or call all day. Sometimes you wouldnt expect anyone to call you back until 5 or 6pm when they got home, also when caller ID was more readily available, we still picked up random numbers as they could totally be someone we knew from a payphone. Or having to make exact plans and try your best not to be late as there wasnt exactly a way to tell someone and phone ahead "hey I'll be there at 5:30, not 5:00"

Normandy Beach: The VR experience.

I'd like to experience something like this. Like voluntarily be imprisoned for 50 years (and still be the same age)
You can time travel.
cryogenic technology is for you then
Ah, good old YOWtube with the decent recommendations again.
You mean UA-cam?
@@eugenio3048 Correct the AI they use to read these, not me. I meant what I said.
Haven't most prisons got tablets on comissary and email now to contact family? Or have I been watching too much 60 days in
Rachel Tomlinson Not every prison. Some, sure, but not every.
Rachel Tomlinson A guy I know over the internet is currently doing time in Austria. I see him on Facebook every day. So, I guess in some economically better countries life in prisons is better.
Tablets are just now starting to come into the prisons in the state I work in. But a lot of the older offenders won’t fuck with the tablets because they don’t understand how they work, or they just don’t care for them.
Possibly, but you have to remember they went in 1980-2005. Its foreign
Yeah but they’re pretty standard compared to what new technology will await in the future
A GPS is outdated even now.... literally everything is on your phone
Your phone is a GPS, it just stands for Global Positioning System. It's not any different from the phone being a camera, compass, calculator, and ... a phone.
@@corndogmaster12345 I'm talking stand alone gps's like Garmin dude
@queeditchable you're arguing over semantics. Ask anyone on the street and they'll tell you what a GPS is
Mastr_Of Muppts They just come included with your car instead of having to buy them separately. Someone with an expensive new car probably isn't going to use their phone.
@@Primalxbeast tru, my mom's car comes with gps and many other things
Honestly, one of my biggest fears is false accusation. And being jailed for a long time cause of it. If that happens, boom, life gone (or a good portion of it) just like that, thanos snapped. Your now in a cell for nothing. Nope. No reason. Now your in there for years. Hope you have fun!
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Not a single person
Automated voice: yatube
Makes me realize how quickly things change
Hi who ever reads this have a nice day
Musical Kat hi
Sup dudes
Thank you!!!
tha police 465 you’re welcome
You too
It's sad how people are treated in the U.S prison system. But it's adorable seeing them grasp the concepts
Yeah our system is just messed up.
This guy at 3:30 was in prison for 10 YEARS god knows what he did but he still had the decency to look for a handle to flush that’s amazing lmfao
He may have been in prison but that doesn't mean he's an animal.
This is the only youtube series that I will stop what I am doing to watch
I hope that the guy also learned that MJ was NOT declared guilty
1OO1O11O11O1O if mj is innocent the sky is red
@@zammyz1 Why? The evidence and hard facts seem to exonerate him.
@@zammyz1 Uhh... I'm not sure if you're aware but the sky is often red.
Raz0rFist the Rageholic did a great series talking about MJ was innocent and how his posthumous defamation needs to stop.
@internet troll Michael "Diaper diddling pedo" Jackson
6:15 Even though I've avoided a cell, this shit is crazy to me. You'd memorize your buddies number and if you were lucky enough to have a straw and a buck you could try call their home on a pay phone (And not have to pay). Otherwise you just rode by, knocked on the door and crossed your fingers
Imagine getting out of prison then going to try to get a job at your favorite stores like
K-Mart
sears
Or big lots.
@Iron Man that's mean, blockbuster doesn't exist anymore
@Iron Man ha
Toys r us
Big lots is still around, I think k mart is too it's just really rare
You can’t. You have a criminal record, now. Kmart, Sears all of them won’t hire criminals
When my cousin got out of jail he wondering why guy's pants got so tight lol
I love hearing the voice say words that aren’t words like loooooong time, ‘I’ve been in prison a luaoooong time’
"Did you believe there was a white lady in the car"
wow a person only has given another person 2$ once in his life and isn't ashamed of it.
could be his last 2 bucks dude, dont judge
The one complaining about legos has me rolling 🤣🤣🤣🤣... I can hear the indignation in those sentences..,🤣🤣🤣
2013- Met a guy that did 30+ years. He was shocked that there was a Prequel Trilogy of Star Wars.
Him: "Should I see the last one before I see the new ones?"
Me: "The last one?"
Him: "Yeah, I only saw the first two."
Me: "Yes. Yes you should."
Did he like the PT ?
No idea. Never saw him again.
"She blew his mind with Netflix" is it just me or this sounds very Netflix n Chill 😂😂
Thats basicaly what i said
oh-
@Mia Smith That sounds very depressing tbh
6:40 ya i get it but there still fun
Yeah! Look at the lego Technic!
yep
That must be a big hit to not understand so many things or be surprised at who things have changed. Like being put into a time capsule *edit* 6:41 This legos one gave me a real good laugh.
Luis Santiago It’s a direct quote from a show called ‘Community’, I think in the 4th or 5th seasons’ first episode. It was a pretty good show, I highly recommend it 👍It’s on Hulu.
Or having to make exact plans and try your best not to be late as there wasnt exactly a way to tell someone and phone ahead "hey I'll be there at 5:30, not 5:00"
I bet the thing they answer most is: "While I was being turned gay in prison, the whole world turned gay as well."
I'm surprised no one said anything about people openly smoking weed or the fact that you could get it in a store.
The Lego one isnt real. It's a quote stolen almost word for word from the show "Community"
imagine being european in an no-parole max security prison for 30+ years. that culture shock would be deadly, going from 90's UK, netherlands, france etc. to today.
I feel the biggest shock was the guy finding out that offering someone a chair is sexist.
