The Henson Aggressive +++ is my favorite of all the Hensons. There's not a threat of nicks or cuts, it's easy on the skin, but gives a very close shave. There are other more efficient razors, but they are all more harsh on your skin. The Henson +++ is a great razor.

Love the stories! Part of what makes the channel about you instead of just shaving. You are what sells the channel, plenty of other shaving channels out there!
The Henson AL13+++ (aggressive) is a winner for me. I noticed such an improvement when I first started using the AL13+ (mild), but I had a hard time getting BBS, but I zero irritation, razor burn, or bumps. I decided to take the plunge to the “aggressive” Henson and am very happy. No nicks, cuts, or irritation, and it is getting much smoother shaves for me using cheap Astra Platinum blades at roughly $.08/ea. Changing blade at 4-5 shaves. Couldn’t be happier 👍🏻
It's a tungesten bushing and it allows for a secure blade feel, there is a tiny bit of play in the bushing so when you clamp it locks in the blade with a very precise gap. I love these tools
This version of the AL13 is the best DE razor ever made IMO. They call it aggressive but it’s better described as “efficient”. It delivers silky smooth BBS shaves with the autopilot ease of a cartridge razor, without the skin irritation and ingrown hairs that a cartridge razor often causes. The version 2 takes an already great razor design and perfects it with beveled edges, larger handle & full length lather rinsing channels & openings on the sides for unmatched rinsing ability.
@@kylef5993 Great question! For some odd reason Henson is only releasing the aggressive AL13 through a small number of distributors, and the rationale has been speculated by many to be so that only experienced wet shavers will be buying it, as they apparently don’t want newbie shavers “hurting themselves”, which is a lame excuse IMO, as you can potentially hurt yourself with the mild version too if you use it wrong. I’m guessing it’s a move that is being done under the advice of their lawyers…. I’ve also heard that the aggressive versions might only be available for a limited run, but that has yet to be confirmed.

I bought a Henson mild and I really enjoy using it, but even doing a with-grain, side-grain, and against grain pass I find I have a much worse shadow by mid-afternoon than with a cartridge razor. I was planning on trying the medium and keeping the mild as a backup. Now I'm not so sure. I"m in the military so I have to shave everyday, and pretty early (usually at 530am). Maybe I should consider the Aggressive.

Hey Geo. Been using an AL13 mild (1 plus) since last Christmas when the wife got it me. Other week I noticed something I wonder if you & yours have noticed. The shave had suddenly become much more aggressive (Astra, 2nd use). I always unscrew the handle half a turn after use as it can get stiff, and to help rinsing and it turns out this time I hadn't tightened it back up. Now I find if I leave it undone half a turn I get that aggressiveness I'd get from, say, a Futur at setting 5.
Hi Simon, Yes, some razors can be made more aggressive by loosening the handle a 1/4 turn or so, as I described in this vid a while ago. Hensons are great for this.
Have you tried the rk blades? They seemed to have been made by specification of Henson themselves. They are really efficient and smooth I found. Still have to try it in my Henson medium since I only recently got that and got the RK blades to try out some time ago.
Hey Geo! For a noobie head shaver, who want's to dive in the DE world, would you recommend ++ or +++? Love your videos! Truely educational. Cheers from Israel
Wow Geo, since I first started wet shaving about 6 months ago I’ve been acquiring quite a collection of gear, including some very nice and very expensive razors with more on the way, but after receiving this Henson AL13 from you I’m having a hard time putting it down, incredibly smooth comfortable BBS shaves with no nicks, I may have to return the other razors I’ve recently purchased from you 😂

Hi Geo, if I use a safety razor can I shave every day? When I used cartridge razors they would tear up my skin, so I’m wondering whether safety razors would do the same.
R41 is definitely more aggressive. If the Henson mild and medium are still considered a little too mild, then this Henson aggressive is probably in the slightly higher than a real medium.
My beard is full, but thankfully only moderately dense because my facial hair is really coarse and grows in many different directions. The second shave (no matter the blade) is considerably less sharp than the first and the third is somewhere between bearable to okay. I need to shave daily for my job. I am debating between the AL-13 ++ and +++ on aluminum. Thankfully Geo has them because Henson isn't selling the aggressive in aluminum that I can find. Sorry to ramble. Basically looking to get a fine shave daily and BBS once or twice weekly. Have slight sensitivity on the 5-6 areas my hair grows in circle. I am fair at best with the Gillette slim adjustable I have, but interested in the Henson because it basically puts you in autopilot with little to no worry of nicks. Would you recommend the medium or aggressive?
depends if you want fully BBS or if you are ok with DFS+. If you want BBS, the +++ will get you there a lot easier. I have had both the AL13 V1 and V2 versions of both razors (Henson sold this razor V1 in aircraft AL to some people on a shaving forum). It shaves very easily with a sharp blade (I prefer Nacet) I only kept V2 of both ++ and +++. I only reach for the +++ but i do take the ++ with me when I travel because I use shaving cream from a can and want to look clean daily.
Just bought a Henson AL13 Medium from shave nation. I am not impressed with it. I agree that there are less nips but i still get razor burn and bumps and on top of that i do not get a close shave. I have to shave 3-4 times. However, with my Parker 82R, I get a close shave after one pass and second pass gives me a smooth shave. I get little more nips with Parker but if i shave slowly and carefully, i do not get any cuts or bumps. Henson is more like a twin blade cartridge razor in safety razor avatar. I get the same finish as my Gillette cartridge razor. So 4 pass by Henson = 2 Pass by Parker 82R
