Got a P not long after a few people I respect enjoyed them. I sold my other handguns and the P Duo was to be my last gun. It is. I conceal it in a tshirt and use it at the range. Haven’t gotten a rds but it’s not pressing. I’ve shot bullseye friend’s springers and while the trigger isn’t 2 lbs, it’s perfect for a serious tool. Very happy with it.

Awesome video, I'm up to 15,000 on my P from around the same time period. I miss the days where you could get 6 magazines with the gun. Even for an optics capabile pistol, I wish I had gotten an irons P and had the Chambers RDSM cut done instead of the DUO.

Staccato P DUO Aluminum Frame is what I have had for quite some time now. 6k through it with zero issues. 507 Comp, McMullen stippled factory grip, Boss Components magwell. Great gun that has served me to all my likings. The aluminum frame gun is super nice for carry in both aiwb and duty style. I can’t tell a meaningful difference between it and the steel frame counterpart during recoil. Trigger breaks at 4.5 exactly which is a tad heavier that I usually like but I have no issue shooting .10-.12 splits with it. Even with the price that they are now which is the same it was then I paid for it when the aluminum DUO first came out I 100% still say this is the best value option out there for a shooter. This gun is the backup to my MPA 2011. Both go with me everywhere when training.

Does your P DUO have Gen 1 or Gen 2 grips? I was looking at the BC magwell for mine but I’m not sure if they will fit in the Gen 2’s.

@@peterquinn2997 Stippled factory Gen 2 grip. Magwell fit perfect on my gun. Works just fine with Staccato, Atlas, MBX mags of various basepad designs.

I just recently purchased the iron sight model locally new, there’s a few out there but they’re drying up.

100% across the board man. I got an iron sighted P at a similar price point and had it direct milled for a 509T because I wanted a plate-less and screw-less setup after some drama with my C2/507k. Getting that gun/mill job at still under the cost of a P DPO/DUO was legit as fuck. Thousands of rounds later and it just runs and runs.
I have two 1970's Colts and a circa-2018 Dan Wesson 1911 and the P is hands down in a different league of reliability than any of them. Sad Staccato made this move.

I think the P still represents a pretty good value. Sure the price has crept up… however the price on everything has over the last few years. IIRC the iron sighted guns were like $2,000 msrp and the Optic ready ones were like $2,200 which I think works out if you paid $1800 for yours on a program. A new one today is $300 more for an optic ready gun. I do still wish they offered the buried Bomar.
By comparison Dan Wesson specialists in late 2019 could be found around $1400. A quick google search today gave me $1750… percentage-wise a steeper increase. Simlarly, I ordered a comped double stack from a popular custom maker in 2021. That same gun in 2024 is $1000 more than when I ordered it.
Even in 2024 I think it’s a pretty good value and Im struggling to think of any better options even if people were willing to pony up an extra $500 to hit the $3k price point.

It is unfortunate that prices have crept up on the Ps significantly. As mentioned, you have issues with the m45a1. Strictly speaking on the features of the pistol and side-stepping the traditions over practicality that lead to its fielding, as well as the current ridiculous pricing, what are your gripes with the M45a1? You've previously mentioned the novak sights being a inferior choice, which I agree with. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the rest of the pistol. Thanks.

The M45A1 had nearly none of the benefits of modern design like checkering or a magwell, had the cerakote applied like it was a hobbyists first time, the rail was oversized to the point it wasn’t compatible with the any holsters on the market, and I could keep going on. They bungled that gun and there’s a reason they had to take them back.

For a few hundred more than the stacatto what would you recommend? I’m not really aware of anything between the staccato and a full custom build that can be considered duty grade

I’m tracking you can get a baseline Nighthawk single stack for just under 3k if you look enough. This is lumping all the 1911/2011s together. I’ve also seen used Springfield Pros for under 3k.

Did you have any fitment issues with the 10-8 slide stop?

    • @AmericanAdlerauge1775
      @AmericanAdlerauge1775  8 місяців тому +1

To be clear, the 10-8 slide stop is the OEM part. It came in the gun; point being that they built it from the start with high quality components

No. Buy a Stealth Arms Platypus with all upgrades for 1800 and get it ported and it’s 90% of the gun of the Staccato XC for half of the price.

      But it’s not a completely “legit” 2011
Also porting on a semi auto handgun is kind of stupid
