This is our second Q & A in our recent series
Question: Doctor How often do you exercise?
I exercise 6 times a week.
Question: Doctor what kind of exercises do you do? I have sorted the questions in an order which is related to me.
This is purely based on my routine and what I do
This is my 20th year hitting the gym. 20th anniversary on a funny note
I go to the gym 6 times a week. I keep changing my goals once every 6 months. The more you keep changing, your body keeps progressing.
So I work out 6 days a week and my training program changes every 6 months.
You don't have to exercise 6 days a week. 4 days a week is ideal for healthy living. A 60-90 mins session is more than enough for good health.
For me, it helps me stay in a healthy mindset. I have prioritized my life to be healthy and fit.
But 4 days a week will do good for most people.
Question: From Vivek. I want to do yoga and go to the gym too. What is your ideal recommendation?
Vivek. I do yoga as well as I go to the gym. I do it 6 times a week. For an ideal and consistent routine, I would suggest 3 days of yoga and 3 days of the gym, plus one day for recovery will be a perfect combination.
I have experimented with many things through various exercises and have found out how it helps our body in different ways. Do it in a way that you feel happy when you exercise.
Do it happily without stressing yourselves with 3 days of yoga and 3 days of workouts. Try practicing on alternative days.
What kind of yoga will be the next question.
There are so many forms of yoga. I would say hatha yoga. There are so many schools for practicing.
Try alternating gym and yoga and it works very well. it won't take much of your time. You don't have to strain much.
Beyond flexibility, there is a deeper spiritual component. You will be more agile, flexible, and nimble. Plus, when you combine it with weight training, you will have strength too.
Question: Doctor, what do you prefer? Yoga or Gym?
Karthik, I have posted a video about this earlier. Please have a look at it. I would say, Yoga is slightly better than gymming due to certain aspects. But if you combine both, then there is nothing better than that. Both have their benefits and If you look at the video, I hope you will understand better.

I am a 40yrs old woman. I am going to gym for the past 9yrs. Thats the reason I love your video. I do work out, yoga and aerobics. You should get a good trainner. Till now I have not fell sick. I have 2kids. I encourage them in sports. Our family don't have to go to hospital. If needed we take home remedies. Because of me my total family is healthy.

Well said dr. 3 days of gyming 3 days of yoga ideal. Mine i used to do regular aerobics like jogging weight training & yoga ..but now 2 mths back i have undergone rt hernioplasty ...so i am doing walking and resistance band ( theraband) exercises alone surgeons told 3mths it will take to heal .so shall i do workout as before dr ?

Hai doc, if you read this let me know, I enjoy both Yoga and Gym, do four days a week, morning I do yoga and evening I do yoga.....I don't feel stressed so it should be fine right. Yoga I started a year back and do for 45 mins, Gym is my second love so enjoy and do only like 20 mins....

Sir vanakkam, 1. is better martial arts instead gym workout? 2. Whenever i use to bend my knee to sit it makes tick tick sounds it has been my childhood days sometimes sound little high sir. But no pain. 3. My both hands and legs are become numbness very shortly after I use to bend it. 4. Sir..I'm suffering from myopia.-3.50 diopter.Eye Doctor told me to wear my specs all the time..yes i wear specs..but without specs i can't see even me in my mirror as far distance ..it just depreesed me to feel blind 😢😢😢😢 pls suggest me some natural treatment or tipz to remove my specs and cure my myopia...pls talk about eye health I'm hopefully waiting for ur video..
