Hope you all enjoy this week's video. For those of you who have asked what happened to Joey's channel...he has removed it for now. You can find him over on Patreon where he is posting regularly and I believe it is open for public viewing. Here is the link: www.patreon.com/user?u=29913168
Love your pre-raphaelite wavy hair. What beautiful imagery. Reminds me of hiking along the Northern California coast in Mendocino here where I live. I always love hiking along water. Beautiful music Catherine.
Great video Cat! Just goes to show ya... when a situation hands you lemons, make lemonade! In life, it is easy to get bummed and negative minded when things don't go the way you had envisioned them in your head. Learning to take things as they come, and just going with the flow often leads to unexpected (positive) outcomes. It's also hard to get depressed when you're with Nature, no matter how many Lemons she hands you.
I love all of your backpacking adventures, especially those with Joey. He is a person I would have loved to hike with. At 76, I now van camp (full time nomad). My long bucket list did not include Catalina Island. My daughter told me that it is a "must-see" place. After watching this video, I will add it to my bucket list. I left Lake Arrowhead yesterday due to the impending storm. My van is RWD only and even with off-road tires it does not traverse snow or ice easily. Great adventure, Catherine!
I was delighted to see Catalina like that.Didnt you and you neice do it? I've been slathered in mud like that once too, I believe it has alot of clay in it. Eastern Washington...a mud extravaganza! But I laughted myself silly. Lovely music, Cat and the moody clouds were a plus....Those were California sea lions.
I did that over a decade ago! Brought back memories for me! The views were amazing. I did it in the summer and it was blazing. I lived in SoCal back then, now I live in a small rural town in NorCal and we have a family of gray fox that live on our property, they come out during the day and pretty much coexist with us but we treat them as wild animals. Their babies are the cutest little things!!! ❤
One thing you can always count on is that nature is the most powerful source on earth and beyond anyone’s control. You made lemonade out of lemons this time. Your excellent editing and musical choices provided us with a beautiful experience as usual. Thanks for your efforts and determination to always enjoy nature however it expresses itself. So glad the sun graced you before your adventure was over. Your observations are always a pleasure. ❤
Some of the most exhilarating days come after the days of storm…the sun breaking through the clouds and the sense of relief and renewal. Cant have one without the other. Love the sunsets and sparkling water on the west side!
Hi Cat (and Joey), another great storytelling adventure! I look forward to your videos, doesn't really matter the subject, you make any subject come alive on screen. I got to camp at Catalina at twin harbor when I was a freshman in high school on a school trip, back in 1976. Thanks for the bringing back some good memories 😎🕊
Love Catalina, the channel islands are beautiful, I've been camping and surfing on Santa Rosa Island many times, incredible waves with no crowds except the man in the grey suit ( great whites ) and the foxes!
... Always making the best of what the lands have to offer ..... My heart and soul thrive for the mountains offerings ,, but this was beautiful .... Thank You Catherine and Joey .... Stay Safe ...
You guys make a great team, what a beautiful hike even with the rain. At first I thought you had snowshoes on the mud was so thick! Love your music picks and your hair looks cute in braids.
Absolutely stunning views. I am inspired that you didn’t allow the bad weather to put too much of a damper on your hike. I enjoy and look forward to everyone of your videos. Keep them coming. Looking forward to the next one. 😁
Nice hiking trip on Catalina Island. The beach side campsites were so nice. Always nice to be by the ocean. After the rainy days, the rest was good weather for you. It's always a victorious feeling when we make the best of what mother nature gives us and not let it stop us. The ferry ride was an added plus. Very enjoyable video.
I really like this video, because I really enjoy backpacking along the coast. If you've never backpacked along the Lost Coast, NorCal, I'd suggest it. It's absolutely beautiful.
Catalina misses you two. Go back again when the sun ☀️ shines every day. Loved the video & all your campgrounds & views. I am totally a seaside person myself. Thanks for the trip Cat & Joey. ❤️👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
Cat, Thanks for the memories, I used to work for Catalina Express in my 20s (I am now in my 60s).. I used to go to the Island for free anytime I wanted. We called Two Harbors the Isthmus! back then.. I have been all over that island. Thanks again...
Beautiful trip! You all are real athletes in my estimation! I always wanted to go to Catalina! So many places you go help us to see and experience! Thank you !❤
Thank you so much for taking us along. We've been to Catalina but would never get to see this side of it without you. The bison were so Beautiful. Thanks again
Even with all that rain and fog, still a beautiful place. Last year while camping in New Hampshire, it poured for 2 days straight, flooding around our campground and caused a leak in our exhaust fan- but still an adventure! Glad you got some sun!
Thank you for a lovely video. Your photography is amazing, music so soothing and your verbal coverage so relaxing. Usually watch a video before retiring for the night cause it is so memorizing. I just found you a few weeks ago so I have lots of catching up to do. Live in Arizona now, but spent 15 wonderful years in Cali. The Sierra’s are my favorite mountain range, spent many a backpack there. Thanks for the memories and your hard work making them🌼
I don't know if you could get me out of the tent. I love the sound of the rain hitting the tent while snuggled up inside my sleeping bag. When the sun shined and the clouds parted the beauty of the island exploded. Thanks Cat.
And here I thought Catalina was just a tourist trap. Gorgeous views. Not the trip you planned but you found the beauty in it anyway. Wonderful video. Thank you! ❤️
Many thanks for another superb video, and its attendant glimpses of paradise. 🙂 Your walk along the cliffside berm, while attempting to avoid the mud puddle, was a bit dicey, delighted you made it safely. 🙂🙂
Through the rain and the haze, Catherine still managed to get a good amount of her trademark, mesmerizing, landscape footage. Her mud shoes were also funny.
26 miles across the sea. Santa Catalina, is waiting for me, Santa Catalina, the island of romance, romance, romance! Darn, and here I'm camping at the "Q"! Used to live in Anaheim, crossed island off bucket list in '72. Boo Hoo. Hoping you had a great time....didn't get seaship on the little white steamship. In military I crossed Atlantic and Pacific oceans, never became seasick. For people who have never been on the high seas.....500 ft ships are just a bobber in the water.
Good to see the USS IOWA BB-61 as you cruised out of LA. My son has been a volunteer in refurbishing the ship to become a floating museum ever since it was moved from the mothball fleet in Suisun Bay several years ago. Now I'll watch the rest of the video.
Brings back memories. My last job before I retired was with the Catalina Island Conservancy. My office was in Long Beach above the Catalina Express terminal but my employees all worked and lived on the Island so I got to go over about once a week for the 5 years I was there. My Island office was in the building on the other side of the street from the hotel you stayed in. I was there during the completion of the TCT, the building of the Trailhead Visitors Center, and the addition of all the bathrooms, fox trash cans, shade structures and the rebuilding of the runway at the airport. Hoping to get one of my sailboats over to Two Harbors this spring or summer. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
We always love your backpacking trips, this was no exception! You manage to find the beauty on every landscape, rain, snow or shine. The music is always so soothing ❤
I enjoyed your video tremendously. I had no idea Catalina was so beautiful. The scenery, the music and your lovely voice narrating were all enjoyable. Thank you for taking me along on your adventure.
Awesome trip Catherine,,, I never had a chance to go to Catalina I really didn't think it was so big, love your surroundings and your videos thanks for sharing with me ,,, I'll be looking forward to watching you on your next trip!!!
Catalina Island has become one of our favorite vacation places over the years. You really do feel like you are so far away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. Our family spent a week in Avalon, at a rental house, last June. The boat from Avalon to Two Harbors was running, so we spent one day exploring the area around Two Harbors. We hiked around, saw some bison, and even got to enjoy the beach, which we practically had all to ourselves! Saw lots of TRT hikers and it's now on the list of trips my husband and I want to do. Probably a March or April timeframe when there is less rain, but not too much heat either. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
This is a new adventure and I’ve been to Catalina before, but I’ve never hiked it. I’m not sure that I would’ve liked to be in that kind of terrain. But I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m glad you brought us along with you. Have a awesome day today.
Great video, I actually remember when you hiked this with your relative some years back. Despite the mud and dirt road walking, at least it was dirt, we’ll ok, mud, you seem much happier and relaxed. Beautiful shots.
What an amazing video this is! Always wanted to see more of Catalina, as I’ve experienced it mostly from diving rather than hiking . So beautiful, even during these winter conditions. Definitely on the bucket list after watching your adventure!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures We did! It was so fun, muddy, and scenic! What an adventurous trip. The weather was soggy, but you guys made the best of it! On that last day, the weather was gorgeous. Praise the Lord for that. And the pizza looked delicious. 🍕😋 What a great time! Thanks for sharing! We will hopefully be hiking this trail in the future! 🥾
knowing how to have fun and joy in not so spectacular circumstances is HUGE. This looks like a great location and a wonderful hiking trip. Thanks for sharing.

Catherine, It seems like you never run out of beautiful places to go.
You keep it real. No eye candy Tik Tok. So appreciated. It's immersive.
Love your pre-raphaelite wavy hair. What beautiful imagery. Reminds me of hiking along the Northern California coast in Mendocino here where I live. I always love hiking along water. Beautiful music Catherine.
Love your description; pre-raphaelite wavy hair!

Beautiful San Pedro where the sewer meets the sea.
Great Video...the rain...the changing sky...wind...coffee...mud...and pizzas gave this video some "gumption"
Wonderful composition. 👏
Yet another Top Notch video adventure. Beautiful scenery and excellent camera work. Thank You for taking me along! 🙏👍

Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word
Love it
Really enjoyed this trip with you. Don't go postal, go coastal! All will then be right with your world.

Epic! Thank you Cat and Joey for sharing the experience. That desert mud will stick to you for sure, but the scenery was fantastic.

I’ve been to Catalina a few times, it’s beautiful. But this video showed me areas I never imagined. Thank you so much.

What a treat! I haven’t been to Catalina in many years, and only to Avalon. Thank you for sharing so much more of the island, in all her moods.
