- Join myself, and my friends Joey Coconato & Jason Andrews on a 4 night/5 day backpack through Escalante Utah's Canyon Country in October 2023. We traverse through water, bushwhack through brush, hike through slot canyons and walk high ledges not for the faint at heart. It's an awesome adventure with so much diversity.

#backpacking #Escalante #Utah
I was terrified on those high ledges you were walking on, but gosh the views are stunning! Beautiful music and great editing. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks so much!
Yes I don't blame you, those ledges with loose rocks can be very dangerous. When I'm in situations like that, I can't use my hiking poles, I like to "hug" the ground with my hands and stay low, even with a backpack on.
Hi Catherine I just came back from a 5 day car camping trip of 1868 miles round trip pm October 16th and passed through Escalante stopping a hundred times on byway 12 at pullouts to see the views and take pictures. I left Red Lodge MT where I live entered East Entrance Yellowstone down to Jenny lake Teton national Park for my first stop continuing onto Utah to explore 3 National Parks there. In Utah I went to Bryce, Byway 12, Capital Reef, and Arches National Park. I got up at 5:30 am in Arches to hike the 3 mile steep incline in the dark with a flashlight to watch the 🌄 at Delicate Arch. That was amazing. But that scenic drive of 123 miles byway 12 through Escalante is so beautiful. I didn't think after leaving Bryce going that route to Capital Reef I was ever going to get there because I kept stopping LOL 😆.
I totally get it Candy! ❤️
Candy, you duplicated part of my trip of a couple of years ago. Escalante was a sidetrip for me that year. Definitely going back.
Nope, nope, nope! There is no way I could walk that path on the side of that wall. Your bravery is certainly greater than mine. I'm happy sitting here watching! Thanks for take us along with you. It was a beautiful vid. Stay safe!
Truly some of the most spectacular landscape in the US. Thank you for bringing us along!
Stunningly Inspirational or Inspirationally Stunning...you pick! Thank You....
WOW!! Jaw dropping, speechless.....WOW! Beautiful fall colors. Some of the prettiest I have ever seen. Your videography of God's amazing creation is just wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing!
The canyons were incredible, and the music that you put with it, particularly in the narrow Canyon area was really so professionally done. Really majestic kind of music at all the appropriate times. I also love the camping set ups, the food prep. Even the simple stuff like coffee brings us into it all with you. Thanks also for taking the time for extended shots of the landscape, not moving too quickly from each shot. Also enjoyed having the guys there from time to time. So well done, Catherine!Thank you!
A great hike. I was worried on those drop-offs about you. But you did just fine. Those poles seemed to be in the way on one section. Ha! I love it when Joey is with you on these hikes, especially love to listen to Joey talk. Not something I can do now at age 78 but wish I had done it in my younger years when I was hiking all the time. Knee problems now with all the hiking and some falls I have done when younger. But glad I can see through your videos how magnificent this area is. So great to be out there and just taking in all that surrounds you.
Me gusta! Enjoy your collaborations with Joey. Thanks for taking us along!
Amazing adventure. Imagine being the among the first group of settlers in the late 1700's to make it through there.
You are blessed with some really good friends! Prayers for all.
EVERY TIME I WATCH U R VIDEOS I CANNOT STOP SMILING.
Completely breathless watching the Canyons you walked in. How fortunate are you to keep company with Joey Coronado and Jason. When I saw terrain you were walking in could anticipate the sketchiness setting in could share your concern. Can’t believe the uniqueness of every wall and rock in that canyon. Thank you so much for sharing
WoW Cat! That was incredibly gorgeous! Thanks 🙏
13:00 is a "Monumental:" Coffee View to kick off a Great View,,, grill up some cinnamin Pop tarts to go with the Coffee
yaaaay!!!! cat! stellar ledge hiking...👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼another, beautiful, gorgeous trek in our epic backcountry! continued travel mercies and blessings.🕊
Thanks for taking me on another trip to see things I'd never see otherwise...
Beautiful country with its gorgeous red rock slot canyons, cathedral, chop rock, petroglyphs, tarantulas, bears, and fall colors. 🏜🕷🐻🏕 Jenny
Wow! What an incredible landscape I get to see because of your video. Thanks!
Great location and scenery. My two favorite states for hiking are Idaho, I love the Sawtooth mountains and all of southern Utah. I love the fact that our Government has protected these lands for all of us to explore.
Now that looked like a strenuous adventure. Pat was gasping watching you hike the cliff edge parts of the trail. As always you bring out the best in an area. The canyons were awesome. Thank you for sticking it out and bringing us along. ❤️
Thank you both so much! Please send Pat my love! I’ll be home for the holidays. Maybe we can camp!
I always enjoy your videos and am glad when Joey gets to be your guest!!
Stunning views, landscapes and colors. Utah has so many varied areas
This trip had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, the hikes on the elevated parts looked dangerous, I'm afraid of heights too. I congratulate you for daring to walk along those cliffs. Thanks for the trip. 🙋🏾♀️😁🤗
Cat and Joey, another perfect Fall Landscape ‼️ 🍁🍂🌾🍄🍁. Your trips to the mountains never fails to bring such beauty !
Thanks! Escalate is a favorite. This trip was amazing. Thank you. You have no idea how much happiness this brings.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'm not a big fan of walking through water but I get it. I've hiked the Narrows in Zion Canyon and sometimes you just have to get your feet wet! Rough hike!
I love the ESCALANTE area. It is one of my favorites. I need to get back there. Some of Joey's old videos of that area were great. I wish they were still on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing your content.
The bears are known for circling back and coming in behind you. They're clever. What a beautiful hike. Love the spider near camp! I wouldn't want him as a sleeping companion.
No they're not lol
Now I don't know what day it is, with your publishing this on whatever day it is... Nice hike, very different. Enjoyed the change in scenery.
So beautiful and brave. Joey is so gentle
Glad Joey was with you. What a great trip- I love the red walls and the slot canyons. Thanks for sharing!
I have ridden my horse from Escalante to pariah and this is no cakewalk folks. The creeks can have mud and vertical rock slabs in the water and it’s a slog. Then up on the shelves and slick rock it’s adventurous also!
What a spectacular trip. Utah is at the top of my list of places to visit. The canyons were incredible. Thank you for another great video.
Beautiful , very challenging trip . Thank you for sharing .
You're a bad ass, and so are the guys. Fantastic.
I loved this video! I never get tired of looking at Utah's red rocks; I loved your Sierra and Canadian trips, but I LOVE the red rocks and the slot canyons! We are day hikers so I wouldn't be doing this long hike so watching your video was so enjoyable. We've probably been to Southern Utah in October at least 10 times. It's a great time to go; the trees are gorgeous! You were great facing your "fear" of heights; I'm glad Joey and Jason were there!
as an az, ut lover, there is so much to be said about the magnificence of God's Creation, but words don't do jusrice. the stunning beauty of the trail, thank you so much for filming and sharing. want to acknowledge Joey as a thoughtful caring gentleman/friend - for anchoring down your tent in the wind as 1 example.
Thank you for taking us along on this awesome hike!
Kudos to you, Cat! You guys put in some tough days and you dealt with you climbing and cliff walking! like a pro
Truly beautiful. Between the landscape and the fall colors, it was magical. Thanks again for taking us to a beautiful place we might not have seen otherwise. You are one of my favorite travelers. Shine on you crazy diamond!
Beautiful canyons but the high country would not be for me. Great trip❤😊😮
Beautiful thank you for sharing
OMG! Those ledges were freaking me out... I also have a mild to moderate fear of heights!! 😨 😟
Nicely edited. Some hiking vids just show the entire walk, but you had enough variety to keep things interesting 😊
Incredibly beautiful. Scary ledge walking!
Breath-taking images and stalwart adventures..left me so inspired! Thank you all.
Wow! You have become one of my favorites on UA-cam! Such a beautiful landscape! You are definitely braver than I would be!! 😬
Joey, thank you for taking such good care of our girl. It’s scary sometimes and you encourage and support her. We love ❤️ all this beauty …!! Thanks to all 3 of you !! ❤❤❤
Danke fürs mitnehmen🤠
You know, after watching this video, I got out the maps and atlas and guide books -- the whole mess - and started plotting a course for this area. Never seen it before, but I think the time has come. One more thanks.
That whole video was simply amazing. Thank you so much for taking me along. I probably will never get there in person but it’s to be able to follow you. That’s just amazing. Thank you thank you thank you.
Wow Catherine! Great weather, no rain flyes! Joey identifies as a Sherpa, lol!
Beautiful red rock landscape offers naturally stunning views. And you guys always find the best campsites too! Great Video Cat.
Nice, Catherine.Thank you for another one.
Amazing fall colors with the giant red rock canyons. Cathedral Rock was spectacular. Thank you Catherine.
I know some, or a lot of, this video was Joey's but I'm so inspired! Stunning! Loved it!
Beautiful. Oh, and you guys are caraaazeeeee!🤣
Never mind the bears that place looks like a hideout for bandits from a western movie. 😮
You can almost hear the b movie ricochet sounds. Lol😂
Nice video. We’ll done 🙏
Just watched your YT vid 2 years past about why you chose the life. Enjoyable story! Good luck. Subscribed.
Beautiful presentation of Escalante Canyon. Thank you. From Rio Grande NF, CO.
I had no idea Utah was so beautiful. The canyons are breathtaking. Your videos are such a beautiful treat for us, who are unable to make these trips. Thank you and as always, be safe.😊
I was watching the bears UA-cam channel. They were showing people tracks saying there is an abundance of good food...
Beautiful trip...
That was excellent, thanks again ⭐️🤣😎🤩
I also did allot of ridge climbing and i made it a point to keep a Kbar strapped on and easy to get to. The main thing is to immediately stop the tumbling should you go over the ledge, the knife will allow you to anchor and stop the slide. Save my life twice.
Aewsome job on the trek and the video
❤ your music 🎶 editing is beautifully done, 🎥 ❤ as always
You really know how to capture the light.
Super, super awesome!!....glad you're safe. 😊
Hi Cat it was so great to see your trip to those canyons. Greetings from Italy :-) For years we travel to Utah and just love Escalante. This summer we tried to hike down to Chop Rock and Neon - but had to cancel our hike due to the weather. We hiked about 4 miles into Harris Wash...and yes, it is a lot of bushwhacking :-) We found some mountain lion footprints.....You and Joey are such an inspiration for us! Looking forward seeing more of your adventures Big hugs from Italy - Paolo & Iris
Thanks so much! 😊
You're not afraid of heights, you are afraid of falling. It's important to define what you are actually afraid of before you can attempt to conquer your fears.
Well said.
Yahoo! We'll be watching this tonight! We love Utah and love Cat Adventures. ❤
Thanks so much guys! ❤️
This is absolutely beautiful! And your hat is amazing too.
What beautiful landscapes and weather you had.
Wow that last view at around 35:30 I went back 3 times to just look at the views. There were so many plateau rocks you could see! Really pretty! You could see way way far. I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for doing all the work lol 😆 I can just sit here and say WOW!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Love your videos Catherine. The great photography is always a treat but you make the journey so relatable. You don't mind saying that it's not always easy, but I really admire how you cautiously go for it anyway! As you say, the heights might be a little sketch but the views truly are spectacular. Thanks for sharing. Always fun to see Joey out there too.
Good job on those steep parts!
And looking out for each other :-)
Wow great job! That looked like a difficult hike. What views. Thanks for sharing!
The landscape is amazing. The clay walls around you look so cool.
....them ledges be sketchy 🤫...
Well done mates...well done.
Thanks 👍
That would be a fun hike to go on. Thanks for the video.
You are an expert at video and editing
Such a beautiful area. Congrats on a successful backpacking trip. Awesome!
Beautiful! We have been in the area for a month now. So much to see here, we can’t leave!!
Beautiful, thank you for all your videos of your hikes.
The Fall colors are incredible!
Beautiful video. Thank you. Blessings
Wow … what a trip! You were so brave on that ledge!
Awesome adventure! So beautiful. Headed to the Grand Canyon this month to combine the Escalante with the Tonto 🏕️
Thank you! Enjoy your trip!
Awesome fall colors , happy the weather was so nice
Absolutely stunning, Cat!
Thankyou for sharing your awesome journey's!
Just wow,,,,it was breathtaking,,,thank you 😊
Beautiful! You have nerves of steel! Don’t think I could have done that high trail.
Tremendous again Cat. I like your editing style.
Way to go Catherine. That was hairy up on top of the canyon
So beautiful scenery ❤ thanks for sharing 😊
thanks Catherine....a mystical, magical place.
Ahh those music choices are so good!!!
Another wonderful video, much appreciated! I've gone to Neon Canyon and Golden Cathedral a number of times before, and also camped at the same beautiful spot as your last night there, but hadn't ever thought about looping it from Harris Wash. I also wasn't aware of the high traverse from Choprock Canyon, so thank you for that - it's now on my list for the future! Glad that the weather was so nice for your trip. It is a very special place.
Beautiful
