    How to replace thermostat housing. Part is slightly different for 2011-2013 but process is essentially the same. P0597 OBD code. Re-uploading a classic video due to video being flagged as "Inappropriate for some audiences"...??

    Just wanna say thanks for posting this, I used this as a guide to diagnose the P0597 code and replace the thermostat in my N18 JCW hardtop. Took 4 hours but saved a lot of money doing it myself.

    I just watched this tutorial and fixed my wife's 2009 R56. Thanks for the step by step. Btw, if I never have to deal with the clip on the waterpump hose under the intake manifold it won't hurt my feelings. You made it look easy. Lol

    if your clip is facing the head like mine was , you can turn it so it points up and then pull out . awesome vid .

    I can't get the crossover retainer clip back in. Mine is non turbo and had a large square metal part in where your hand needs to go

    Good Morning Mod Mini ,Love Your Video's Question Changed Out Thermostat on 2011 Mini Clubman Base, I also bought New Wiring Harness for Temp. Switch & Computer at Bottom of Thermostat. I am Glad I did old Thermostat had a Prope at the Top like a Water Heater in Your House. My Question is still getting Code P0597. Is it possible to get the Two Connections for Sensors mixed Up &Car Still Run?. Just not Sure Which one When where? Thank You for Your Response..KC

      I haven't done a 2011-2013 thermostat in a while, but car would run even without the wire connected at all. You would definitely get codes if you got the wires backward, if that is even possible.

    I’ve got 140.000km on my R56S and changed the thermostat housing for 3-4 times. What’s the case? Why is this part failing so often?

    • @ModMINI
      @ModMINI  3 роки тому +1

      You must use genuine housing or an original equipment supplier. Most of the aftermarket thermostats are bad quality or not correct for this car. See video description for a product link.

    My Friend hello!! I have a question. My 2008 mini cooper is drop a p112b code I know is the coolant situation but is the thermostat the problem too or what is the problem in this case for the code

    What would cause the cooling fan to run on even after the car has only been on for seconds and is not even warmed up? It runs for about 5 or 10 minutes and then shuts off. It has drained my battery a time or two doing this. I have had the thermostat replaced, as well as some electronics for the fan control but it still runs on after the car is off. No one around here can identify the problem, but this didn't happen until relatively recently so I know it's not normal behavior.

      Bad temperature sensor or faulty temperature sensor wiring. Use a bidirectional diagnostic scanner to query for ECU for what it thinks the temperature is.

      I'd an issue like this & other sites mentioned possible relay & sensors, I've checked my relays & changed 1 "as a just incase" & never had the issue again, my fan ran for ages (hour plus) whilst the engine was off, after a short easy drive. To check the relays there in the engine bay in the long fuse box next to the intake/filter pipe. Another basic signs for this issue is the fan may not run when the engine is running/being used etc.
      You can google or search utube for the issue as its shown on here via other videos etc

    Hi, my thermostat temp always keep in 227F thats normal? and the fan keep on always even after the shutoff the car

    • @ModMINI
      @ModMINI  5 років тому

      It is normal for fan to stay running on hot days and these cars like to run at about 210F. If higher than that or if fan is running even on cold days after short trips, you may have a wiring problem or failed temperature sensor.

    This looks like a hassle. My lady just got this code. I really hope that I don't need to do this. It's due for an oil change. So I'm just going to change the oil and delete the codes and hope for the best

    Warning !!!!!If you follow this you will short your high pressure fuel pump. You should not disconnect the complete wiring harness.

      Why would you create a short circuit when power isn't going to the pump due to the ignition being off...
      For general safety disconnecting the battery however is always a good start.
