New Thermostat with Housing Assembly from 1AAuto.com trq.video/ib-1...
This video shows you how to install a new TRQ thermostat and housing in your 2007-2013 Mini Cooper. The thermostat controls the flow of coolant in your vehicle’s engine. When a thermostat fails, it can lead to overheating, which will damage the engine. One sign of a faulty thermostat is a cool upper radiator hose when the engine is at full operating temperature. It’s important to replace the thermostat immediately if you suspect it is failing.
This repair was done on a 2012 Mini Cooper Base 1.6L Hatchback 2-Door FWD Manual and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    2007 Mini Cooper
    2008 Mini Cooper
    2009 Mini Cooper
    2010 Mini Cooper
    2011 Mini Cooper
    2012 Mini Cooper
    2013 Mini Cooper

Today we replaced this unit with the help of this film. I’m sure we couldn’t do it without this guide. Following each step it was quite easy. Thank you very much!

Great vid, I highly advise getting a hose clamp plier with a remote head. That was the only way I could loosen and reinstall the hoses. Also, for the crossover pipe clip, I found it easier to remove the airbox completely then using some long needle nose pliers, install the clip from the top. Finally, I put some tape around the head of the 3 mounting bolts to make sure they dont fall out from the socket. I dropped the rear one and it took me about 30 mins to find! Good luck everyone. This is a pretty easy fix, just a lot of things to remove and the space is tight.

    Thanks for the upload man!
Nice clear video with great angles and some tips to boot.
This is my next job, luckily my thermostat is stuck open so not an emergency.
    Thanks again.

Thanks so much for your videos they are by far the best. I have just done water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket and 2 engine mounts and all the videos you have done have helped so much. Getting the waterpump and adjustable pulley beside it back gone killed me. It took so long to get the bolts started lots of tears and maybe some swear works lol. Thanks agin

Your tutorial was so helpful. Easy to follow. Make sure to use some silicone grease or similar for the rubber o ring to push the thermostat housing back in, otherwise it might not seat properly. I then got my partner to use her small hands to reattach the wire clip. She got one arm of the clip on, which made it easy to use a pick and reposition the other arm. Then it was just a case of pushing it down. Really easy to put together after that. Subscribed**

    Great video!
Thats a Brilliant trick to release the locked open hose clamps.
They are used on all Peugeot engined Fords as well.
The only observation i see where a mistake can be made by many: is that rear pipe clip is meant to be slid in from the MAP sensor side, 3 o'clock position, not from the top or the joint will leak

I came here as a curiosity. I changed the thermostat on an 07 civic in about 20 minutes including waiting for fluids to drain. It sits right up front and says hello to you when you open the hood and is 4 10 mill bolts on and off. Boy those are easy to work on, but still wouldn't mind a mini ; )

The electrical clips that you're using the flathead screwdriver to pry are not meant to come off like that. All you gotta do is just push down on that little tab and it'll pop off.

there are 3 style of this housing too, and some models will not take the one you're putting in, the hole the the temp sensor is too far above the top bolt hole to fit under the fuel pressure regulator. need to replace with the same as the first style in this video and will need an adapter harness, car im doing this on now is a 2012 cooper S. the one with the brown connector dies not fit

You didn't specify that this is for the N12 engine only.
Also, did you drain coolant off video?

This one is sure to make your knuckles bleed. I did this a few years ago and have barely driven the car, now the same thermostat stuck circuit/open error is throwing again. Should I just replace the sensor before replacing the entire thermostat again?

Max temp i get is 70C so i suppose I need to change the entire module. Why they couldn't just keep it a classic thermostat piece you can change but keep the housing.

The new housing you started to install was the wrong one......then you just installed the old one you took off and started connecting the wires........ Look at the new coolant temp sensor its completely different
