MrApotamus He got 1 mana from the Relic in his mainphase when he cast Martial Coup for 5, relic is untapped, he has 6 lands.EOT on Davids endstep he tapped the relic to put a charge counter. He then untapped, got 1 mana from the relic in his mainphase and then tapped the relic for an additional mana, so no cheating.
In the first game did I see two elspeth sun champions? Within the pregame mill seven a sun champion came up and then the first phynaxill nine one came up too?
Very good commander game, as usual. I was actually impressed with your Phenax deck, you milled Justin quite fast! It was also funny when Justin finally beat you using Danny's favorite card: Elesh Norn. Can't wait to watch the next Commander Versus! Cheers!
To everyone in the comments who are butthurt about them screwing up the dice in the beginning; they are having fun, they literally could not give two shits who went first.
I personally would run a mill deck in standard or even commander (like here) but I always thought it is counterd way easily.. I mean I have to ask couldnt't the first round annihilation been prevented had Justin Parnell included a Koziliek, or even an Elixir of Immortality in deck plz respond cause I think is too obvious..
Game one is jipped, metamorph casts for three colorless and 2 life mcdarby floated a colorless on three from the two stones essentially casting it for 2 and 2 life
If you took out the basic lands and any duplicate cards, you could just smash a few commander decks together to make a cube. May even try that sometime.
Game 1, cracking Marsh Flats into Elspeth + Goblin Bombardment would have been lethal. a 14/14 Grave Titan, two 8/8 zombies, three 3/3 soliders and two 3/3 zombies on triggers..swing for 30 and sac 7 creatures to win.
Parnell is like Walter Cronkite. He gives you the facts and the story as clearly as possible. McDarby is more like a talk show host: lots of energy and charisma, but he doesn't leave you with anything substantial. Because of that, I would hate VS. if McDarby was still around. Watching Parnell and the boys play taught me a lot about Commander. I can't say the same about McDarby. A good host is not somebody you want to punch.
thats why my mill edh general is lazav, dimir master mind. ok i milled your eldfrazi and you get your grave back but now i have a 10/10 hexproof annihilator general... enter combat step.
great vid but i think mcdarby and danny should stick to these. i love seeing new faces but its so enjoyable seeing danny and david's synergy in their videos
I liked Justin's deck, but I don't understand why he used that commander. Was it just for the colors? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the deck.
Justin so naive and nonchalant about mill in this now 3 year old video. Oh how things have changed lol. So sorry Justin...especially after that Halloween treat.
Honestly keep Parnell and dump McDarby! He just seems so pompous and cocky and truly makes for an un-enjoyable atmosphere for a VS video. Danny west and Stephen Green are my favorite!
McDarby how could you? Cheated in Phenax for 4 colorless and one blue/black at 6:00 . I think McDarby is the real God of Deception!
That didn't really mattered as he ended his turn with an untapped land that could produce U.
MrApotamus He got 1 mana from the Relic in his mainphase when he cast Martial Coup for 5, relic is untapped, he has 6 lands.EOT on Davids endstep he tapped the relic to put a charge counter. David McDarby. Singing Persona songs. Milling in commander. A true hero. :')

Is this Justin Parnell's first Commander appearance? Classic times... I miss David McDarby
Monty Python References 35:30
"crack fetch take two" "no i dont think i am" "what, but its modern" "shhh" "oh" "thats enough out of you"
I think in game 1, first zombie tokens only must have two counters +1/+1 instead of three, because titan enters first, and then the tokens.
Best Commander Versus to date. Themed fun decks and two players wanting to HAVE FUN.
Very good commander game, as usual. I was actually impressed with your Phenax deck, you milled Justin quite fast! It was also funny when Justin finally beat you using Danny's favorite card: Elesh Norn. Can't wait to watch the next Commander Versus! Cheers!
Phenax + Duskmantle Guildmage can be a fast killer.
That is true, even better in multiplayer.
Why hasn't Danny West been on lately
41:13 Did McDarby just sang a Persona 3 song?
Han Daimond sure sounds like it
Love the Persona reference at the beginning of G3
To everyone in the comments who are butthurt about them screwing up the dice in the beginning; they are having fun, they literally could not give two shits who went first.
Noooo, where's Danny West?! :(
I personally would run a mill deck in standard or even commander (like here) but I always thought it is counterd way easily.. Was that a Persona 3 reference at the beginning of game 3?
Game one is jipped, metamorph casts for three colorless and 2 life mcdarby floated a colorless on three from the two stones essentially casting it for 2 and 2 life
that mill combo at the end was pretty sick
32:20 Phyrexian Ingester gets +2/+1
Is it just me or was David McDarby singing songs from Avenue Q during the games.
I loved that intro!
That was one hell of milling in first game.
If you took out the basic lands and any duplicate cards, you could just smash a few commander decks together to make a cube. May even try that sometime.
He could have held out on White Sun Zenith and cast it during upkeep to buy one more turn in game 2.
In game 2, how did Justin tap Mikaeus and put a +1/+1 counter on him on the end of David's turn, when Mikaeus still had Summoning Sickness ?
He didn't? Mikaeus entered with a +1/+1 counter.
Mama_Cooka
I know, I just remembered it incorrectly.
👍for Monty Python reference, I miss McDarby.
little does he know that justin will go on to replace him and wipe his legacy
That Dunkey reference at 44:52 haha
Not a single Tariel was cast that game :D
Really good game! I looove phenax+eater of the dead :D
Game 1, cracking Marsh Flats into Elspeth + Goblin Bombardment would have been lethal. a 14/14 Grave Titan, two 8/8 zombies, three 3/3 soliders and two 3/3 zombies on triggers..swing for 30 and sac 7 creatures to win.
he could have just blocked.
He mentioned almost this exact line of play at the end of the video.
yargamafrag Yeah, I posted as it happened, realized he recognized it after the fact.
That's why you should watch the whole video before posting :)

And this is why we run legendary eldrazi.
And that is why we run Leyline of the Void
thats why my mill edh general is lazav, dimir master mind. ok i milled your eldfrazi and you get your grave back but now i have a 10/10 hexproof annihilator general... enter combat step.
Jehovah here's an old list i had. its changed a little since then but you can use it as a starting point. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/lazav-the-dark-side/
if you have phenax as a commander you have to anticipate that and have instant speed graveyard exile efffects.
Where's Danny!!?!
ps. waiting for like 10 min for that elesh play. Awesome. great games guys
pps. Justin Parnell is pretty cool too lol
I can't wait for the next commander vs fingers crossed for a brago king eternal deck!
Consuming Aberration in a paradox/scepter infi deck is boss.
37 - 14 - 11 = 14......
Although I suppose it didn't matter.
One word - Kozilek, Ruiner of the Mill.
... Phyrexian Processor + Thousand year elixir :D Damn that could be fun though...
deck list?
In the description... :)
Why not just play Karona and only cast her when going for lethal?
how did erebos die to martial coup though hes indestructible...?
don't question it XD
The fact that he played a mill commander s rubbing me wrong.
Dunkey references are always acceptable.
Yeah I was like, wait...
37-25=14?
The Avenue Q reference made my day.
Get Justin back again. And I want to see a Soldier deck.
Love seeing a mill strat...
You forgot to pay 2 life from vampiric tutor in the first game
No they didn't. Watch the life total
great vid but i think mcdarby and danny should stick to these. i love seeing new faces but its so enjoyable seeing danny and david's synergy in their videos
Why herro their!
I liked Justin's deck, but I don't understand why he used that commander. Was it just for the colors? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the deck.
Yeah, he mentions it in the recap at the end
dat monty python reference
Justin so naive and nonchalant about mill in this now 3 year old video. Oh how things have changed lol. So sorry Justin...especially after that Halloween treat.
I liked it!
phenax phenax
that eater of the dead looks so annoying lol
Mill FTW
That's why I play Emrakul.
Honestly keep Parnell and dump McDarby! He just seems so pompous and cocky and truly makes for an un-enjoyable atmosphere for a VS video. Danny west and Stephen Green are my favorite!
Jeff Muccilli 51:47 Mcdarby "I just play here with people who lose"
+The Völkisch
I agree, David is my inspiration when the time comes to play blue again. Plus I love his costumes.
phenax op
in first game justin have win in hand
Yay mill
Annnnnnd this is why you run an eldrazi in your deck, to stop nonsense like this
A note for david mcdarby:
Phenax mills equal to power, not toughness, and by the end, you were at 12 not 14.
Cheater detected.
Sorry I'm wrong, it does mill equal to toughness… but you were at 12 by the end XD.
+Roland B *chuckle*
once again, no offense to anyone else, but even with the mill if this video had Danny West...infinity more entertaining.
Awesome content! Just... make someone math-check every combat. You are absolutely terrible... :D
McDarby's a bit of a bad winner. And where's West?
