It is not the one child policy. Taiwan and Singapore were not subject to the One Child Policy and have exactly the same birth rates as mainland China. It is urbanisation and the industrial economy, and the need to spend so much money on each child for them to have a good life.
Even I am against marriage and kids, I want to spend all money on keeping myself happy throughout life , i understood very early in life that marriage ruins our life.

One of my barbershop customers, a confirmed bachelor, once aptly described babies as “screaming shit machines”. And since nobody seems to have any moral fiber anymore few seem to be up to the task of rearing children as especially, the typical adult today has no idea what they want to do when they grow up. My entire house is decorated in a decor best described as early head shop.
Because we can not afford the cost, we know that our kids are going to be poor. Only way is socialism and going back to villages. There is not any other way out from capitalism.
Replacement fertility rate is 2.1 So out of 10 couple 9 couples should atleast have 2 kids and 1 couple should have 3 kids to main the same population. If everyone has 2 kids then the population will decline slowly as many people die due to unnatural deaths like accidents, murders etc. For now every Indian should have 2 kids sothat we can see slower decline of population. 2 kids no more no less is the best option.
