    Thank you for sharing! The hardest part for me 100%, is the jumping around and trying to fulfill all the needs at the same time😮 I love the idea of the Monday Morning Mom Meeting❤ Thanks for hosting, Davene!

      That is definitely such a challenge! Trying to get a schedule that everyone has an opportunity to have me help them but no all at the same time, can be hard to figure out. Then I added my “occasional” additional child… 😬

    We love to start early so we have extra time!!! We love our fake ice skating by the beach!!! I give my kids their lists with their curriculum so they can plan!!! I feel like we all find our family’s grove with homeschooling!!! When we find what works, keep it!!! I have kids that struggle with writing so I decide what can be done orally!!! I love that we can start our high school credits early as I can get my older kids to pace themselves to finish at the right time!!! I don’t think it matters if writing/ grammar is done together!!! In our state high school credits can be family subjects as long as it’s at the right level or extra work done by the high schoolers!!!

      I think I need to add in typing again this year do that my struggling writer can do more subjects and answer questions in that way…

    I’ve been having Noah work more independently so I can help Adi and my toddler. Such a struggle to stay on top of checking his assignments so I can totally imagine what a struggle checking two kid’s work would be

    I am so sorry you have been dealing with and been dealt so many challenges. Thank you so much for being so candid in this video. This video has had an impact on me, and I’m sure many others that won’t have a chance to comment. I share some of your struggles, but not to the same extent. Again, thank you for sharing. Thank you so much for your encouragement! I did question whether or not I should include the whole last health bit. Just because I want it to be something that can show people that they are not alone if they are dealing with something like this, but I also don’t want to make this channel all about me and my struggles. On the advice of a good friend, I kept that part in :) Thank you for commenting and than you for your prayers. ❤️

    We also are doing that. Breaking up curriculum and making it work for us! The blessings of homeschool right😀!!!

    Thanks for sharing. So relatable.
    I really wrestling with pacing/workload. It's difficult to know what is actually doable, when my kids push back so much. But coming to homeschooling "late" (this is our second year. Kids are 12 & 14) they are so "behind". Between covid and just a lack of solid teaching before that, I feel like the remaining few years are not enough!

    • @CalmintheChaosHomeschool
      @CalmintheChaosHomeschool  11 місяців тому

      I totally get you with the feeling that the kids are behind and there is not enough time to catch up. I will say that with homeschooling, you have the best chance of that. But it’s also true that pushing too hard can be detrimental as well. I personally have kids that really will always be “behind” as far as learning challenges and I have had to accept that for myself (not saying that for your kids!) Either way it is a fine balance for sure!

    Thank you for sharing this honest and encouraging video. I have worked so hard, homeschooling additional children, helping out a lot at church, etc. to the point of utter exhaustion I haven’t bounced back physically or emotionally or mentally the way I would like. Now I’m trying to rest, spend more time in prayer and Bible reading, saying no to activities that sound stressful, etc. It is a difficult change when you are used to trying to save the world. (Not what God created us for!)
    I’m trying to simplify our homeschool too.

      PS: Will you please share about your lemon balm tea that you mentioned at the end?

    • @CalmintheChaosHomeschool
      @CalmintheChaosHomeschool  11 місяців тому +1

      It’s so hard to recover from burnout. I hate to say it, but I’m headed there again now… feels like. It’s so hard to want to do more but not be able to. But that means that we are doing too much and better to stop and figure out how to get the rest before it’s too late. So, the lemon balm tea you can just find on Amazon. Here is a link to that: amzn.to/3PIGFlF And, if you are not sleeping great, check out this: amzn.to/3F3cEIp These 2 products have helped me a lot the last few months. But, of course, rest and not trying to do everything all the time is the most important.

    Yes. Let yourself rest. And you know it, rely on God. I appreciate you being vulnerable. I have multiple autoimmune conditions and homeschool my kids with their own attitudes and ADHD and work too...and money, that's always an issue. At times it just seems overwhelming, and I occasionally think to myself "Why do I bother?" or "What am I doing because it feels like I am no good at it?". Let me tell you, God is your friend and rest is your friend. Anyway, I went into this year knowing that some of the things we were starting would take 2 years and I decided that was ok when I thought about it. I mean, the most important are language arts and math so as long as we get those done, we can take our time with the rest. I am not gonna lie...I am a hardcore planner and this has been a learning curve now for 3 years not to push too much and seriously I have to tell myself every week to chill myself out still. We started Guest Hollow geography too. We did the intro bit and then skipped to the end and did Antarctica. We will do Australia next and work our way allover Asia this year. Our last month in school I am planning to do Japan as my oldest is taking Japanese and my youngest loves everything Japan. (She bought herself chopsticks and now acts like she can't use a fork and she signed herself up for a sewing class simply because they are making kimonos 😂). After that, we will just see what direction we want to go in with it. We are on break now and start back on Monday...ready to start back. My oldest likes math for the first time since 3rd grade since we switched to a new math and my youngest still hates writing so I just ordered a different curriculum for her that is a little less intense...we'll see. So, overall, we got this. But we only got this because God's got us.

      Thank you so much. Yes! Sometimes I melt down a bit and wonder why I'm working so hard and my kids just don't really appreciate how much adding homeschooling is for me. But, I don't regret it. Just sometimes wonder if I CAN even do it. Without God, there is no way. Thank you for your encouragement! What math is your oldest doing? I'm glad its working for you! Yes, sometimes just the basics needs to be ok.

      Denison Math. I like that it is affordable and there are videos she can watch. She went from "I hate math" to "Look, I got an A! This is better" Only time will tell but as long as this keeps up, we will enjoy it@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool

    Math was a struggle, so we switched to CTC. My child is working through the level 6 diagnostic tests. We are running into trouble with cultural and language differences since it is an Australian program. The other day “surname” was used instead of last name. Have you run into any of those issues?

    • @CalmintheChaosHomeschool
      @CalmintheChaosHomeschool  11 місяців тому

      Hum… there have been a few things that sound a bit different, but it hasn’t caused any major issues. My kids ask and do I just tel them. We don’t do the diagnostic texts though, because that stresses my kids out. We are just trying to get through the lessons asap. So they watch the lesson and usually now what to do when we get to the problems. I’m actually really liking CTC math for our family at this point. The kids are making nice progress and there is minimal frustration,
