Oh, I absolutely love seeing a brain dump video! Sonlight F is one of the only levels we haven't used from Sonlight! I may end up using it with my youngest in a couple of years.
You HAVE to do it! We have loved it so much. I think my kids will have a hard time going back to history reads after all these fun geography based ones!
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool I have heard so many great things about it, but it ends up being right around the same time we are required to do Maine Studies for our state requirements. I think I may be able to squeeze it in with my youngest though 😊
I used the computer and type out a lot… but when it comes to things like this, I want a pen and paper. I don’t keep a fancy planner at all. These pieces of paper work for me for to-do lists. Then I do have the systems and schedules on the computer :)
I haven’t wrote the subjects on notepaper per kid to see what I need to do!!! I’ve been working out credits as well!!! I plan just before we start!!! We use science and social studies books as part of the literature credit!!! We have some science left from last year and our homeschool advisor isn’t bothered with it!!! He wants us to do it properly instead of rushing thru it!!! I have to help my older kids to plan and I’m doing it at the moment!!! I’m trying to teach one of the teenage athlete to be flexible with his independent work!!! He’s hard on himself!!! I can’t plan a yr of devotionals!!! We plan as we go!!! My older kids did answers 1 and 2!!! Our state requires health!!!
We have started Pre Algebra and really enjoy it. So far my daughter has not cried - WIN! Even though there have been tough concepts for her, he teaches it well and clear. Really breaks it down.
I use Numbers on the computer. My oldest just finished 9th grade. I did a rough list of what she would be doing all 4 years. I did the same thing for my other daughter who is starting 7th grade. I use that information once finalized to put in another form I created which adds it to my older daughter's transcript that I created.
I don’t think I have ever used numbers, but I think it’s a spreadsheet system too? It’s nice to get all the thoughts and ideas out onto “paper”. I have two very similar things. I have my kids listed each grade and what I think they will take for a lot of the years. Then I do have a page with all the high school credits/courses thought out, but I want to update that a bit.
It's great that you have an already formulated checklist for your homeschool. I could do that, I suppose! LOL But I kind of like this process. Then I take whatever inspires me the most, and run with it :)
My dysgraphia boys were successful with Handwriting without tears. It’s made by on OT. I would get their Kickstart cursive with your one that struggles with fine motor.
I need to figure out our loop/schedule. I got a new job as an online reading tutor so I will be busier than usual. My 7th grader needs a lot of help in reading comprehension and writing so I have a lot of resources for that. My 10th grader is doing an online school so I don’t need to do much for her.
Doing any of your kiddos struggle with dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dyslexia? Would love a video on this topic, resources, really ANY guidance if you have some struggling learners. Thanks
I have one child who I suspect dysgraphia. I would have to think about strategies as I generally just keep each child’s abilities and tolerance for different subjects/curriculum in mind, and try to pick things that will work for us. But that’s a great video idea. I’ll think about whether or not I feel “qualified” to give any advice in that area. I know we also struggle with low working memory, ADHD, and just some cognitive difficulties when it comes to learning new concepts.
Same here. Mine struggles so much with writing even typing is difficult. He can read, but he doesn’t understand what he reads. I’m at a loss what to do next.
This is an area that I am having to look into just this year for several of my kids. Diane Craft has a lot of information on her website as well as resources to purchase.
What does your beginning of the school year planning process look like?

Ohhhhh chemistry in the kitchen sounds fun!
I've been waiting for YEARS to do this course with this daughter :)
Brain dumps are SO helpful!!
Agreed!
This is amazing, I love when I see other moms having lists like this. Makes me feel normal.

Seeing you plan your year helps me so much. I am definitely not naturally a good planner but I would love to be 😂
You had me fooled. You look like a good planner to me! Well, I’m glad my long winded planning videos can be of help! 😁
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschoolhaha!
Thanks for sharing! I'm still trying to write what we may do this year.
There can be so much to think about!

That’s great that your homeschooling adviser is ok with being flexible. I definitely “stretch” the flexibility our our parent partnership program 😂
Can’t wait to see what your thoughts on Dennison are
I hope we love it... because I don't want to keep looking for math curriculums!!!

@@momoflittleladies that’s good to know!
Same!!! I'm going back and forth between Denison and Mr. D Math for the 2025/2026 year when I will have a 7th grader.

I love brain dumps. Though I tend to do that more with my household planning than homeschool...

I'd be very interested in an end-of-year review on Chemistry in the Kitchen or maybe just an in-depth look at it.
Thank you! I’ll try to do that!
I love the brain dumps! Thanks for sharing! It would be so overwhelming to have 4 kids to homeschool 😅
Is it x4 the overwhelm? OR x4 the fun? Both, definitely both 😂

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look into that!

I just sat down and did that for myself a few hours ago. I’m sure you’ll do great with figuring out something workable! Congrats on the new job!
