Believe me or not, Samsung engineers didn’t finish their work on cameras.. I wrote this comment one of the channel, most people agreed with me, I also got S24U and confused about why this year’s flagship phone isn’t good enough. Great video by the way. ❤
Thanks for watching! Both cameras did great and captured a lot of color information. The 15 Pro Max leans slightly more towards the green channels, which is usually more pleasing for skin tones compared to magenta.
Tip for S24U video. If you shoot in Pro video mode, even with default settings, it just looks better, the contrast is especially improved. However, in that mode you're locked into a lens you start shooting with, so your zooming capabilities become limited. Still, Pro video is the way to go if you intend to stick to one lens.
Great info! Agreed. We found that Pro video mode was the best option. We also made sure to use ExpertRAW when shooting Raw photos. Thanks for tuning in, friend!
Well, this is available for iphones if you asked , i've noticed that thing in 14 pro max since day 1, cinemtic mode have a slight more saturation than the auto mode , and yes you're right , i've seen many video comparaisons of s22U and s23U comparing them with iphone 13PM and 14PM through this last year , i've liked more the iphone footages , but sometimes that portrait video seems to be better in most of cases , especially that iphone was not that good in ( cinematic mode ) of 13 pro max , s22 was better in that mode , but 14 pro they making it better , and finally 15 pro is very comparative competitive with the s24U in that specific mode which i think it make them both of em special with that mode which don't exists in lower range other product of the 2 brands ..
Very nice comparison. I have the s24 ultra and I agree with the others that in most of the comparions, the iphone performed better. Hope you can make another comparison once the upcoming update for s24 series rolls out. Seems most of it are for camera and screen enhancements.
Thanks for the support! It's great to see updates rolling out. So much can now be done with software! It's very exciting, and I look forward to the improvements. I'm not sure the latest updates would have affected my tests too much, as I was often shooting in Raw and didn't shoot much low-light or any moving objects. But overall, any updates that help image quality, the better. Thank you for tuning in!
Best comparison of the 2 phones bar none. I’ve seen 100 videos and yours is absolutely the best. I was thinking of switching to s24 ultra but not now. The 15 pro max without a doubt. Awesome.
Hey! I’m trying to decide between S24 ultra and 15 pro max. Which phone had more accurate colors to real life? When I compare my s21 to the 15 pro max (I’m deciding if I want to send it back or not for the s24 ultra), the colors seem more accurate but I’m not sure if that has changed. Which one is more accurate (color wise especially in the mountain images at 4:23?) I’m an artist and color accuracy matters a lot to me if I want to collect reference material outdoors that maintains what I actually saw (color wise) with my own eyes.
Thank you for tuning in, Samuel! At the moment, I don't have plans to test any apps. Indeed, MotionCam is a great tool for the S24U, and when it gets its next update, it will be even better, a great addition for video. Also, for 15 Pro Max video users, the Blackmagic app is very good. Thank you!
Thank you for watching! We really appreciate the support. From looking at the update just announced, it doesn't seem like it would affect much of the testing we did. It's great, though, to see these updates keep rolling out! Manufacturers keep putting out great software improvements. The S24 Ultra is indeed a great camera. We were impressed with its capabilities.
@@Saharacase Agreed, but one can clearly see 15 pro max is clearly superior in video recording. And as per the official update announcement, they say video recording on s24u has improved significantly. Are there any plans of making the comparison again in the future after the updates?
Saharacase is right. The new update would NOT affect much of this bc this review is in RAW. This this review more or less test the quality of the sensor which shows why apple stuck with the Sony sensor 2 years on a row.
@@JohnnyBravoGn Indeed, it seems as though the update has improved low-light video (grain), focusing, and clarity, but I haven't had a chance to test those improvements yet. In my testing, I used the best available settings and the pro video mode. Codecs definitely play a big role, and Apple seems to have nailed that aspect with Log ProRes. That is the place where image quality can really shine because of dynamic range. I agree, any updates that improve video quality would be fantastic! From what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be a significant improvement over the S23 Ultra, except that the 8K video appears to be better. But for photos, the S24U was awesome! They just need improved codecs and higher-bitrate on the video end. Cheers!
@@madtiger7955 Indeed, for video, the key factor is also the codec. ProRes is used for theatrical mastering, including on Arri cameras and Red. It's a robust codec that carries a lot of color information. It is the closest you can get to Raw on the video side. Also, the HEVC on the 15 Pro Max did really great. From early tests, it seems the update would not have affected my tests very much, especially for fast-moving objects, low-light, etc. I think if Samsung can get a robust codec on that 8K it will be top-notch! Great video 👍 which phones are best for sharp and detailed close-up pictures? Like taking pictures of eyebrows or lashes. I'm Samsung user but I was not happy with the s22 ultra close-up pictures. Happy to get any suggestions .tnx
Thanks for the question, Mary! And thank you for tuning in. It sounds like you need very good macro shots. Both cameras perform well, but I found the macro on the 15 Pro Max to be exceptional. It's very sharp, and you can get close to your subject. I think you would be happy with either the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max for what you need.
Excellent video sir! All current flagship phones shoot fantastic photos and videos in good lighting. I primarily choose my camera phone based on who does better in low light video, as this is easily the most challenging scenario for small sensors/optics. For this reason, I've been hanging with the Chinese flagships for 4 generations, will be purchasing the just announced Xiaomi 14 ultra for their refined optical elements, AI models, and advanced in-phone editing features (you can import and apply 3D LUTs to your videos directly through the native gallery editor app!) Thank you for such a great video!
this guy deserve more subscriber :)so iphone has such natural video pics click ability with best stablisation and also in hand feel more lite as compared s24u because of their sharp corner edges
I like your voice the way of explaining way better any other UA-camr now come on the point something 15 pro max performance better and some time 24 ultra performance better I think both phones are good it’s all depends on which system u wanna use I have both phones in my home
If you did blind comparisons there is no way people would be able to tell. They can all guess not tell. That's how you know both phones have amazing cameras.
Planning to buy a new phone just for video shooting. I watched tons of comparisons. Your comparison is great for deciding factor but no comparison could convince me to get the s24 ultra for video. Iphone 15 pro max is just way ahead of Samsung in term of video. From eye pleasing colors to sharpness are great in iphone. However, the s24 ultra mic is just awesome and almost like a professional mic. Ps. I never used a iphone before but I'm utterly impressed by iphone 15 pro max video capabilities. Probably gonna get it soon despite u24 ultra pre-order benefits like free 2x storage upgrade, Galaxy bud 2 pro, and obviously the Galaxy AI hype. However, all these means nothing to me if it doesn't fulfill my sole purpose. Infact, the s24 ultra is cheaper than iphone in my region thou.
Thank you for the great info and for tuning in! Indeed, the S24 Ultra mic is very good. I will need to include that in my testing next time since it is a part of the video capabilities. Yes, the 15 Pro Max does really well in professional video, and I think it is only going to get better now that they see how the camera is being used for commercials.
I haven't had the chance to test the base 15 yet, but maybe someone who watches the video can speak to that. From my experience with previous models, the Pro version made a difference for sure. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the question and interest. The S24 Ultra is excellent, top-tier in photos, and in video mode, the 8K performed well. But yes, I would say for video creation, the 15 Pro Max. In standard day-to-day shooting, you might not notice as much, but if you switch over to Log ProRes and can color your footage correctly, it is a big jump from all the testing we did. Plus, the BlackMagic app for the iPhone 15 Pro Max is very good for accessing even more professional settings. I have intercut footage from the 15 Pro Max with a Red cinema camera, and no other phone has been able to achieve that. I hope that helps. Cheers!
This review does prove that the Sony 48MP sensor on iPhone 14/15 Pros is really really high quality. Samsung sensor is still a step behind in pure image quality. Pixel sensor is probably 2-3 steps behind as well. Then you add in super fast real time processing of A17 chip and you get amazing 4k video.
Thank you for tuning in! Indeed, the A17 is very impressive. I found that the S24U performed very well when shooting expertRaw. Samsung has some nice hardware. If they can pair a robust codec with 8K video and keep improving software, then wow! It will be impressive. I also noticed that still images have improved over the S23U. But overall, with color and dynamic range, that 48MP sensor is wonderful, indeed.
Anytime a high bitrate option for frame rate was available, it was used. Also, HDR10+ was always active. I made sure to use the best settings possible. ProRes, when paired with LOG, is just so robust. MP4 is a step down for sure and bottlenecks with a 10-bit source. ProRes is one of the codecs used professionally when RAW is not being used, with ProRes 4444 XQ being the most popular of those. I think even if the bit rate is improved in a software update, Samsung still needs another codec to select from to pull into a true 10-bit color workflow. But overall, I did get some good results with the S24U, being a smartphone.
In testing, portrait mode varied. I found that the S24U many times rendered better with bokeh and edge detection, yet the 15 Pro Max handled highlights a little better and skin tones. Regarding photos that is. In video cinematic mode, 15 Pro Max. Side note, regarding zoom, the 5x zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max was possibly a bit sharper, but not overly so. However, with the S24U's 10x zoom, even though it is only at 12MP, which is actually a crop from the 50MP sensor, making it a hybrid zoom, the results were definitely better. So, overall, in terms of zoom capabilities, I think the S24U, and even the S23U, have a slight advantage.
From our testing, if RAW photos are the main priority, I would say either one! It was that close most of the time. Both cameras performed fantastic. As mentioned in the video, if zoom is a big deal for you, I would go with the S24 Ultra. We have another test coming very soon in which the S24 Ultra will be compared against the Leica Q2! And I must say, the S24 Ultra performed exceptionally well in RAW in that test.
Thanks! One more question.Im looking for a smartphone that is able to take great photos just like the two you reviewed.I know that smartphones tend to oversharpen the image more than a professional camera would. So it would be helpful to know which camera tends to oversharpen the image more than the other if you have noticed.
@@EidenWilliams- Great question. In ExpertRAW mode, both cameras are very close. In standard modes, the S24 Ultra is definitely applying a bit more digital sharpening.
Iphone is a bit better overall but useless since it have ios... apple need to reduce reds and yellow and fix the sky colour. A good thing about the s24 is that samsung reduced that oversharpening a bit but it still to much. Apple did the other way around and added even more sharpening in update.. what a shame. Remember the last video with s23, looked absolutely horrid in the scene with the woods outside.
Thank you for watching! Indeed, I did notice that on the S24 Ultra, it didn't oversharpen as much as the S23 Ultra. You can always go into the Camera Assistant app for picture softening as well, but I found this wasn't the best option quality-wise. Overall, both cameras seem to do very well.
@@Saharacase Hey i loved the way you shot the video and edited with that soothing music on the background and the choice of the music was also on point. Now my question is how far behind is the Samsung in terms of video meaning if i scale it down from 0-10 0 being the worst and 10 being the best So if the iPhone is 10 how much will you rate the s24 in terms of video
@@debojitmandal8670 Thank you for your support. If I were to rate the video quality as you asked, I would give it a 7. The 8K on the Samsung S24 Ultra performed well overall. However, I found that the Google Pixel 8 Pro actually did a little better in video. Regarding pictures, the S24 Ultra seems to be right there at the top with these other flagship phones. However, if using Log and ProRes professionally, I would recommend the iPhone 15 Pro Max--if video is your primary need.
@@Saharacase also one more question can u compare the s24 u to the iphone 12 ,13 and 14 i just wanted to see if it matches these iphones in videos or si ti still behind these phones aswell which are old i am talking only wrt videos
Great content and detailed content. Willlike to see more side by side and night camera and video comparison. Log video on iphone should be compared with pro video on s24 ultra where you can tweak . Samsung toned down their camera and video colours Alston s24 to look realistic. Even next to s23 ultra. S23 ultra pictures and video has more colours that pop. To me I prefer the saturated colours on old Samsung as it look better . Might not be true to life but I want my pictures and videos to look better as long as it's the same color. Iphone has great video and camera but ios lack features . And if I pay top dollar I want access to everything I can. Android is still my pick as I'm point and shot kind of guy in camera and video not too picky.
Thank you for watching! Indeed, almost all video filmed with the S24U was done in pro video mode. The robust codec of ProRes, especially with Log, is just so robust. I did notice your findings as well, regarding the S24U and S23U. Also, if Samsung gets a more robust codec for 8K, it will be very impressive. The 8K, when I tested it, has lots of potential. The problem is the codec being a bottleneck for information. I would say overall both cameras did very well. And as a side note, the Google Pixel 8 Pro sure is holding its own from when I tested it too.
Sir iam using samsung galaxy note 10 Plus in 2019 it's a flashship phone.iam using scince 5 years iam very Happy 😊....i have iphone xsmax also but I like ve samsung user experience UI....the only thing is good about iphone camera is little bit better than samsung... Samsung display, battery, look,in hand afeel soo good..😊you can purchase samsung 😊 thanks you
Indeed, Apple definitely, in all my testing, leans towards warmer tones and slightly more into the green channels. This is because most people find this more pleasing on skin tones. Samsung, on the other hand, leans a little more towards magenta. In ExpertRAW, you can certainly adjust this in edits. But overall, straight off the camera, this seemed to be the case.
I finally decide to get new phone because i need better camera and i spend a lot of time in watching comparations between 24 and Pro max. I mostly taking photos of t shirts and people in t shirts for social media. Videos from time to time. Can you tell me directly whitch choice is better for my purpose? Thank you
Thanks for the question. For that purpose, either one would work! I would say weigh the options of the ecosystem: Android vs iOS. Both cameras excel in photography, and the S24U has great video for most applications. The 15 Pro Max does have very pleasing skin tones, but I'm sure you will edit most of the time. I only recommend the 15 Pro Max if you really need professional video capabilities.
Beautiful country. Looks a lot like where I live in southern ID. Great job! I'm using s24u. I don't care for iOS. But respect for iPhone's video quality.
I Wonder if the blown out highlights and lost information in place like the sky can be tweaked through adjusting some settings like ISO or contrast/shadow adjustments
Thanks for the question! Indeed, if I had underexposed by 2 stops, I could have retained the highlights. What I wanted to do was set the exposure and settings identically on both phones so it was a fair comparison. As you can see from the rest of the image, it was very close in exposure. Overall, both cameras perform well in the highlights, but I don't think any camera phone has been amazing in this area. I'm sure the AI features coming out for Samsung will help with that for some. The 200MP mode sure pulled some nice dynamic range though. I would say in RAW most of the time it was neck and neck, even in the highlights. The S24U does overprocess HDR though.
I have the S24 Ultra and I love it, but it's clear that the iPhone video was superior, with beautiful color depth. I'm wondering if you shot in log on the S24 using a 3rd party app like mcpro24fps, would the resulting video be able to compete with the iPhone after color grading? What do you think? 🤔
Thanks for watching, Daniel! Some third-party apps can certainly improve performance. My initial thought is that it could possibly be enhanced with good color correction, but it wouldn't compete. The biggest reason would still be the codec. ProRes has been around for a very long time and is used for mastering on feature films when set to 4444. But even in 422, like the 15 Pro Max, it is a robust codec. Log, even with Sony cameras and others, will start to band because many times it's Log but in 8-bit 4:2:0. Overall, if professional video is needed, I would go with the 15 Pro Max regardless of the apps used. And I agree with you, the S24U in the photo department is top-tier! And really, the video is very good too when exposed correctly. A great smartphone!
I don't like IOS, and i watch this video wanting Samsung to win all the battles. But, personally, i liked the Iphone. It looks like a professional camera.
Thanks for watching, Julia! Both cameras are very good, and I find it almost comes down to preference. Both cameras certainly have a different look. I think Samsung has the hardware for sure and only needs to tweak their software a little to be the flagship camera phone. Just like with professional cameras, megapixels don't necessarily mean better. The most important factors usually come down to dynamic range, highlight recovery, and color and skin tones. In the cinema world, this holds true with Arri vs Red. Red has the numbers (8K), but Arri still has the most pleasing image at (4K). Over the next few weeks, I will be posting reviews of both the phones against their Leica Q2! Stay tuned.
Apple 🍎 is undoubtedly a point and shoot ! And a lot more consistent . And the ability to record directly to an external from the iPhone , IS A SERIOUS FACTOR ! Of course a memory card slot . S24 Ultra is not the polished experience of the iphone . So ... The iphone wins !

Hiii. Please help me to choose between s24 ultra and iphone 15 pro max. Actually iam a content creator on instagram. So I want best video cemara phone specially in potrait/cinematic mode. Which one is the best amongst the two?
For video I would go with the 15 Pro or the new 16 Pro. ProRes and log make a big difference.
@@Saharacase cheers👍
Honestly, they both look great for smartphone cameras. Great versatility from both phones.
Great job sir ..iam from India i am impressed with your work
..the way you explain about the phone camera s is very good 💯😊...you have traffic knowledge about the camera 📸...sir if you made iphone 15 pro max vs samsung note 10 plus camera comparison.... because i have samsung note 10 plus ..ia want make a short film with note 10plus so you video can help me ...sir i have another doubt was the samsung or any company software update can destroy or downgrade the camera quality because in 2021 my phone camera performance is very good.but now i was observed dicress the quality of video 📷...can you please give answers of my questions 😊😊 thank you sir
Where was it filmed?? Great location
Thank you for watching! This is in the northern part of Idaho.
Buying the samsung phones for the camera doesn't hold up for long..after they release the s25 and s26,they will release updates to ruin these cameras.
Great job! Can you also do that in low light and night condition?
I am A Samsung Fan! But this Review made me look at the IPhone differently... Its an Amazing phone. Thats what i might use when i get to the US.
Thank you for watching and the support!
Wow thanks you for sharing . I really like the video testing part at landscape and please bring it more like this.
Btw love you from India ❤
Thank you! More coming soon. Really appreciate the support.
Excellent video sir!
All current flagship phones shoot fantastic photos and videos in good lighting.
I primarily choose my camera phone based on who does better in low light video, as this is easily the most challenging scenario for small sensors/optics. For this reason, I've been hanging with the Chinese flagships for 4 generations, will be purchasing the just announced Xiaomi 14 ultra for their refined optical elements, AI models, and advanced in-phone editing features (you can import and apply 3D LUTs to your videos directly through the native gallery editor app!)
Thank you for such a great video!
Thank you for the kind words and for the valuable insight and information!
You make really good quality content ❤😊
Thank you, really appreciate the support.
You are the best!
wow, those videos on the iPhone are noticeably better, from the details, color and HDR
Thank you so much for this video.
Thank you for watching, Gabrielle!
You guys nailed it 👏 subscribed 🎉
Thank you!
this guy deserve more subscriber :)so iphone has such natural video pics click ability with best stablisation and also in hand feel more lite as compared s24u because of their sharp corner edges
Can we edit eaw photos and export in RAW format
I like your voice the way of explaining way better any other UA-camr now come on the point something 15 pro max performance better and some time 24 ultra performance better I think both phones are good it’s all depends on which system u wanna use I have both phones in my home
If you did blind comparisons there is no way people would be able to tell. They can all guess not tell. That's how you know both phones have amazing cameras.
I agree with S24 ultra having shallower depth of field. I'm using S24 ultra and sometimes it feel like the pictures taken get blurred out too much
Great video!
Thank you! We sure appreciate the support.
Please i want to know the camera performance difference between the 15 pro max and the base 15.
I haven't had the chance to test the base 15 yet, but maybe someone who watches the video can speak to that. From my experience with previous models, the Pro version made a difference for sure. Thanks for watching!
That was a great video❤
would you say that iPhone 15 pro max is a way better choise for video content creation vs 24 ultra?
Cheers!
@@Saharacase do you see much difference as point and shoot camera for video?? I mean no log or prores format just the regular one
I love my s24 ultra but I find myself using my iPhone camera more than my s24. it's just more consistent when capturing image and recording videos
Have you used the high bitrate mode on the Samsung S24 Ultra? That would probably get closer to iPhones Pro-Res.
Which one is better portrait photos 3x & 5x
Isso sim é um verdadeiro comparativo de câmeras! Isso está espetacularmente magnífico! Do seu estimado seguidor do Brasil 🙌❤
Thank you very much!
If you had to choose one phone to capture photos(specifically RAW files) from this video, which one?
Who else watching tbis vedio from S24 ultra ?
I think iphone or samsung/Android Phone made major changes to the camera 🎉🎉🎉
Now my question is how far behind is the Samsung in terms of video meaning if i scale it down from 0-10 0 being the worst and 10 being the best
So if the iPhone is 10 how much will you rate the s24 in terms of video
@@debojitmandal8670 Thank you for your support. If I were to rate the video quality as you asked, I would give it a 7. The 8K on the Samsung S24 Ultra performed well overall. However, I found that the Google Pixel 8 Pro actually did a little better in video. Regarding pictures, the S24 Ultra seems to be right there at the top with these other flagship phones. However, if using Log and ProRes professionally, I would recommend the iPhone 15 Pro Max--if video is your primary need.
@@Saharacase so will u rate the 8 pro as 8 or 7.5
@@Saharacase also one more question can u compare the s24 u to the iphone 12 ,13 and 14 i just wanted to see if it matches these iphones in videos or si ti still behind these phones aswell which are old i am talking only wrt videos
No mobile companies can compare itself with IPHONE 🍎 🍏 🍎 🍏
samsung did better on raw and photos, samsung will step up on the video department with s25 ultra
And as a side note, the Google Pixel 8 Pro sure is holding its own from when I tested it too.
iPhone on default use warm setting lighter image on default
Samsung default is cooler and use lightly darker image on default
Great video
Thank you for watching and the support!
Great 🎉❤
its funny coz i already planning to get S24 ULTRA in a few days then suddenly i saw this video LOL
Samsung display, battery, look,in hand afeel soo good..😊you can purchase samsung 😊 thanks you
Sometimes I notice when I'm recording with Samsung the color looks kinda purplish and with iPhone is more grayish/greenish
Thanks so much I think Iphone will always be the video king 😊❤
Awseome vedeo ❤
Thank you!
S24 ultra❤❤❤
samsang s24ulta 4k vedeo cinematic is king 4k all lance king
Beautiful country. Looks a lot like where I live in southern ID. Great job! I'm using s24u. I don't care for iOS. But respect for iPhone's video quality.
S24 ultra you beauty ❤
samsang s24ulta clear winner king
Iphone
iphone
The Iphone did great in videos
Video wise iphone is a clear winner
@samsung #samsung
both are great but iphone's video is significantly better
I think the iPhone did a better job there...
At lease Apple can do real RAW.
iPhone camera is just so consistent. Reliable. No need to worry when you press shutter.
Indeed, overall in testing I did find it very consistent.
s24 Ultra ❤❤
At the end of the day iPhone is king 👑
The S24U does overprocess HDR though.
samsung better
iPhone is King 👑
@@Saharacase Hey, thank you for your thoughtful and detailed reply. I appreciate your taking the time to do that. Have a great day! 🙂
iPhone 15 pro max has best camera for video and pictures ♥️
Agreed sir
Stay tuned.
iPhone 🔥
Apple 🍎 is undoubtedly a point and shoot !
And a lot more consistent .
And the ability to record directly to an external from the iPhone ,
IS A SERIOUS FACTOR !
Of course a memory card slot .
S24 Ultra is not the polished experience of the iphone .
So ...
The iphone wins !
No doubt Samsung s24 ULTRA best in class. Its king 👑👑👑. Camara always samsung bettar
Iphone (in photos) is too crazy with contrast and sharpening, for my taste. Check that photo of leather phone cover, details are gone.
