- I just ordered this beauty off of reverb.com, and I am absolutely blown away. Intonation is perfect, the feel is beyond amazing, she sounds way better than I thought she would, and look at that gorgeous butterscotch/honey burst finish!

Glad I came across this video! Becasue of your review I checked out a 2004 McCarty at my local GC yesterday. As soon as I held the guitar, I knew it was coming home with me. Love it! Thanks again for posting your helpful video almost 5 years ago!

I looked at your videos on your UA-cam page. Looks like you are new to playing guitar, about a year or so? I do have students online in multiple countries, if you’re looking to take private lessons.
In short, I teach advanced techniques to beginner and intermediate students, making it easier to play better and much quicker than just taking lessons and learning basic chords, basic notes, tablature, etc.

I just bought a 2016 McCarty limited 10 top with an ebony fretboard! The 58/15 pickups are killer and it is literally my favorite guitar of all time so far!

mesadeblues; Thank you so much. And yes, you are right - that tone is so inspiring. The pick ups on this guitar are very different from what I'm used to. I'm starting to learn, nearly a year later, that they just have a very vintage tone to them. I am playing through a 15 Watt tube Egnater Tweaker, by the way.

A 2001 McCarty was my first PRS. I've played it non-stop until about 6 months ago when I got a 408. Very different guitar. Love 'em both.
Amen! Love the 408! And yes, these pickups aren’t as hot as my Les Paul, or other guitars I’ve owned, but there’s definitely an amazing vintage old-school vibe and sound that you get out of them! I could not agree more....I own a 2006 PRS McCarty....by far one of the best guitars I've ever played. Wrap around stop tail..with, as you said...perfect intonation.

Thanks for sharing! You convinced me to pull the trigger on a 2002. The fat neck is so amazing, isn't it? Do you still have yours? Still feel the same way? How's the intonation holding up? I was also blown away by the intonation...first wraparound bridge for me.
Stephane Beauchamp-Kiss, interesting that you would mention something about the bridge, because years ago when I saw that PRS was using bridges like that, I thought it was strange and I could not understand how a high-end guitar maker would use such a piece of crap bridge because I am used to Les Paul bridges, where you can change the intonation. But I am surprised at how good the intonation is on this, actually. This guitar is amazing, but I am actually selling it to find a business endeavor I am embarking on. Interesting perspective. I was hoping to get one with birds, but both my PRS guitars just have dots. 🤔

@@greenchilaquiles yes, this guitar has more of a vintage feel to it because of the pick ups. I’m quite surprised how good it is, actually. By the way, if you dig acoustic guitar, take a listen to instrumental of mine that I think we’ll trip you out. Unfortunately, I’m not playing bass guitar in this video, but I usually do. You’re still get the same affect, though.

What pickups are in there sir
Hafiz Wahab, Standard pickups that come in a McCarty model. So they are very vintage sounding, not hot or high gain at all. 😉

Yes Reverb. It shipped today. I already own a DC3 which is more a Strat vibe but an amazing instrument in its own right. Thanks I'll check out that amp.

Currently own a CE24 from PRS, sounds and plays absolutely amazing, but I also want a guitar with a more vintage vibe too. Was thinking about buying one of these from reverb because I saw some crazy good prices, like $1300. Would you still recommend that guitar and for someone who's used to a slightly thinner neck do you think I could get used to it?

JKGuitar100 I have a 2016 McCarty limited 10 top with an ebony fretboard. It has modern looks with a pure badass vintage sound. You can't go wrong with a McCarty!
