Why? Any character can get thunder spiked. and the stock before it was his own fault for letting go of ledge.
@@celticwind4122 getting gimp spiked like that is also not limited to pichus thunder, i.e. chromes up special can also insta kill you at the ledge while chrome grabs the ledge

I think that would be a mistake. As void alluded to postgame, PT actually seems really good against pichu. Combos don't work well on squirtle. Also both squirtle and Ivysaur don't suffer from whiffing moves as much as other characters given how low they are to the ground, which allows them to actually exploit Pichu's weakness of being really light.

@@tehemail.7062 Yeah, it would be a mistake. Leffen lost the match, not PT. Nothing there seemed like it was the character holding him back. He just lacked experience against Pichus, let alone the _best_ Pichu. He just needs to prioritize Squirtle more in that matchup.
I doubt that he'll make that mistake tho.
pichu bair doesn't have set knockback but high base knockback... set knockback doesn't scale with damage...

Leff uses squirtle to rack up quick dmg than look for spikes with Ivy and up smash's with Charizard. Its good but predictable, like void said if he just stuck with squirtle Pichu would of had a much harder time, cept leffen isn't nearly as polished with the rest of PT outside of Ivy. If he drops PT entirely that would be a shame.

If I could change Pokemon Trainer, I would remove the feature where pokemon switch automatically after each stock, and I would make selecting the pokemon work the same way Shulk selects his monado art. That seems like a fair buff to me. I imagine you could get some cool options by switching rapidly between two pokemon without having to use the 3rd

That’s the problem; people picking characters because they are top tier. You end up seeing the same couple of characters over and over. You have a roster of over 70 characters, it’s ridiculous that only a few are ever seen because no one wants to not be without a top tier. I get not wanting to take an awful character to a tournament, but the top tier mentality needs to stop.
in a roster of 70 characters young link is top tier. so is roy. leffen made the right move not picking a main until 3.0. he doesnt have to start over. he has a main now regardless of who gets nerfed.
Zero should coach leffen. Would make a great team.

Zero had a really good point he never finished during the last game. Leffen does generally play aggressive (he is always applying pressure), and the thing about Void is he wasn't playing defensive (as some might think) but rather playing patiently and trying to feel out what his opponent is trying to do before really unleashing what he is capable of. That's why as these games progressed, it seemed like Void flipped and switch and suddenly the two players were in a different class. I think this is an element of fighting games some players grasp - that is, sometimes you need to step back from getting hyper focused on executing something really difficult, or minutia game knowledge like hit boxes and frame data and just realize something a lot more basic. Void said it himself - that Squirtle alone looked like it could deal with Pichu alone. But Leffen stuck with convention and switched to Ivysaur even if it wasn't necessary - and according to Void, he was trying to force things to happen.
I like what Zero offered and it's something I do at my (ignorable) level of play which is not going for critical or flashy plays early on in a match. It serves a good purpose to lull your opponent to sleep on your capabilities so you can use it at a more valuable time to take a stock off of them and win like Void did. If he had attempted that down-b lightning earlier in the match, Leffen would have remembered and respected it to mix up his recovery. Instead, he very stupidly just went there and got hit.
I think to Leffen a "better player" is one who executes better and maybe faster. Any competitive situation like this requires observation, orientation, and decision making as well. In other words the "OODA loop" -- as coined by United States Air Force Colonel John Boyd. (execute -> act)

Despite these particular results, PT actually seems to be a really good answer to pichu. Both Ivysaur's and squirtle's moves are all really low to the ground. You don't whiff like other characters which takes away one of his greatest strengths and brings to the forefront his weakness of being ridiculously light.

Elefanamir is that guy at parties who tries to quietly talk trash on someone and it ends up going really poorly.
I remember when people said the Melee gods were going to dominate Ultimate and that guys such as Leffen were going to top every single time and destroy the competence, and here we are, 3 months later and the guy can't even beat one of the top players without getting bodied hard. Leffen is NOT on that level as of right now. Ultimate is pretty competitive but a whole different game than the glitchy melee. No glitch means you have to rely on skills WITH your character, rather than be more knowledgeable than other player when using a glitch or exploit.

I dont agree with you but i do think we will see a lot of the melee god go back to melee. Still 2 very different games.
Thing is a lot of these god players are getting old and can’t adapt as quickly as they could when they were young. If you’re 20+ your brain isn’t in its flexible state anymore.
I like how everyone takes the “fans” words to represent what the players are suppose to think. I dont think at any point Armada, Mango, Plup, leffen and especially M2k ever said they would unironically dominate the scene. Mango is trying it out purely because he think it would be fun and he wants to try and get good/give a non melee smash a try. M2k would never say soemthing like this. Armada would never speak above his skill level he doesnt self hype his play he shows that he plays well and practices to get better when he doesnt. Plup is plup im pretty sure hes just doing this cuz hes having fun and is probably bored. And leffen probably cockily says he can be good but every time he talks on mic or in stream hes always critical of his own play and says he needs to practice and improve win or loss. I really dont think you should base the perception of players of their fans rather how they act and speak because melee fans tend to be more toxic and stupid than the actual players because they are stuck in the 2013-2015 melee era
