Nothing more masculine than an accomplished man telling his best friend he loves him sincerely. Just touching. The bond they share is rare these days. Men have fewer friends than ever.

I think, in general, covid made an impact on how we communicate especially for people in countries that were in lock down for long periods of time. We had to adapt to getting things done in both our personal and professional life. A certain percentage of people found that they preferred to work from home, home schooling their children, getting groceries and just about anything else for that matter delivered, having more family time etc. The other reason could just be that life goes by fast and we have to use our time wisely. I could be completely wrong but your comment made me think about why this is happening. 😊

Go to another doctor, doctor shopping is there for a reason. I went though about a dozen gastroenterologists over a decade for my digestion problems, some of them were dismissive, some unqualified, some helped only with one aspect or were mistaken, and said that improvement I've had was enough. etc.
Hernia is urgent matter for any normal doctor

    • @kristajones7202

That's a wild excuse to not perform a surgery on someone who needs it. I had a fairly minor umbilical hernia as a kid that resolved itself. I think that happened around 4 years old.
I've carried two pregnancies past term, and my hernia never returned. I'd think the chances of everything being fine would be higher with surgery. If not, just redo the surgery if needed.
Also, can doctors stop seeing our bodies as incubators?

Robert's work is magical; Charlie's ear looks completely natural. I only wish there was some way to give him hearing on that side, but he certainly seems to do well even without it.
For a bit of trivia, here's a (sort of) little-known fact: Paul Stanley of Kiss also had microtia, and was born without a right ear. He had reconstructive surgery in 1982, at the age of 30.

She had an extra growth removed from her right ear as an infant, a corneal transplant in one eye as a toddler, but for the most part she was incredibly lucky. She does have a concave breastbone that has caused her some heart issues that are continually monitored.
She finished college last month and is now working as an RN in an ICU. We are all so incredibly proud of her. She had a rough start in life, compared to her twin brother who wasn’t affected, but she’s blossomed.

I love how he asks his coworker to operate and he just goes: “yeah bro, I’ll hook you up”
    Iconic 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Goodness, Charlie is a very handsome man with or without the prosthetic ear. It made me sad that he encountered some difficulties and self consciousness early on, but glad that he’s found a solution!

I've seen some people have prosthetic ears that attach to dermal magnets, extremely quick and easy to place. I wonder why they didn't take that approach?

I'm wondering if, since he's got this awful memories of surgery, being presented with the option to not have to get cut open AT ALL, even for a dermal implant, he wanted to go with that?

@@chelseatappa284I was going to say this too. In order for magnets, surgery would have to take place

Wow, they make house calls too? I like when doctors grow a new nose or ear on the forehead and then move and attach it when it's ready. It's really incredible.

The thumbnail showed before and after so I thought they were going to open his ear and he’d hear for the first time. I assume with his condition the inner ear also didn’t form?
Either way it looks amazing. Crazy what technology can do!! He looks so happy and I don’t blame him!!

When you have a disability from birth or or as a baby, you learn to adapt and usually you do not miss what you never had. I am 90% paralyzed from an illness I had at three and a half months. Although I wear a leg brace on my left leg and I do not have the use of my left hand, I am an avid square dancer and I can tie my shoes with one hand. It does not bother me that I am different.
