I love how the end is, “Was that the take?” “Was for me.” “Yeah same, how about you guys?” “Yeah that’s the take.” “Yep.” “Okay, cool cool.”
They’ve worked together long enough to be able to communicate only in brief head gestures.
Also, it was probably the first take 😅
"please dont make me do that again"
Living on that music wavelength. When you click like this (after HOURS of building and practice), your alignment to the music becomes your ONLY communication method.
Highly improbable that it was the first take. They must have done quite a few before in order to work the piece.

@@FeRguS907 don't you know that Tim was invited to the goons podcast? lmao
Damn right, also hi blarg
My favorite line has to be “wowowoeowowowauw” it has a lot of depth and Tim is truly a master lyricist.
Bro fr and the wowiwiiiwwowwoe line too just hits different
Then don't listen to Joe Satriani's "The Soul of Distortion." Hahahaha
I think mine would have to be "tipututeputu", such creative use of lines
This version is better than the original lol, less mixed and we can hear the two different guitars and bass very clearly. Love it
Agreed. It's funny mostly none of live version more beautiful than the studio version but this? I really like it more than the studio record tbh.
Less mixed?
And admit it, the video is miles better too. The original one just makes me light headed with so many recuts 🤮

@@cacklefruit8641 thx for the advice man
I'm most impressed with the bassist. With everything happening around him he still found a way to shine through.
He definitely has a skill for that. So many songs have the bass shine through at perfect moments. They've done such a good job at blending their instruments to work so well together. Just awesome to see / hear.
Back when I discovered their earlier work, Clay’s style and voicing stood out to me. He’s a incredible player and more than holds his own in a group of virtuoso musicians which is just so hard to do.
I wish he do the headbang while live recording 😂
I see a lot of people demanding Polyphia pick up Charles Berthoud and all I can think is... that might be a cool collaboration at some point, but Polyphia already has their perfect bassist.
Clay G is fantastic, and he is just *so* locked in with Clay A. He plays exactly the right notes and nothing more, and he plays them at exactly the right time. He gets moments to shine, but more flexing is not necessarily more better.
What I like most about Polyphia is that they avoid the *excessive* wankery you see with many other noodly guitar prodigies for the most part. They show off, sure, and they write complex music, but it's not all noodles all the time.
Clay is the perfect distillation of that ethos - he could wank with the best of them but he doesn't because it wouldn't make the music better.
@@srsbsns7673 Very well said.
I know they're a band and their entire job is to be in time with each other, but seeing Scottie and Tim being perfectly in sync like they are at 1:41 is always dope.
That is super impressive.
They are so evenly matched as musicians it’s insane

I like this version even more than the official. Clay's bass should have been this loud in the mix! Really adds a lot to the song
bass always needs to be louder !
Yeah I agree, I was disappointed by how low he was in the mix. their track GOAT mixed him a lot better
think it's bc the studio version is really heavy on the sub bass which most speakers / headsets don't pick up too well, agreed that this version sounds better for the most part but listening to the studio version with a beefy speaker rig is something else

gober makes this track entirely his, he is so on point
Man. They’re just such a great band. Individually virtuosic so they’re self assured and fully balanced in each of their contributions. Just such tight players. It’s great

it definitely was at their show in Houston, if you're able to see them live, it's really an insane experience seeing them play on a headliner tour
Live shows it pops hard :D
Seriously. More bands need to take note.
Yeah... Idk why they make the bass and drums so hip-hop/trapified in the actual songs. This just sounds way better and makes me wish I didn't skip out on their recent concert in my area.
Drummer is just casually cooking in his own little room❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I love when they do these play throughs! A fans band!
Love this bass players tone. Harder than you'd think fine tuning your tone and keeping it consistent.
Sounds like a sansamp to me.
At times, it has that Marcus Miller vibe in his tone.
All Darkglass stuff and ibanez basses, though I've seen him with ernie ball, playing an ibanez ATK 305 here.
Petition for Tim to do a new studio tour
How can anyone not love these guys? Kudos from Brazil 🇧🇷!
Need more of this, love seeing each player's personality coming through. Tim is on point as always, Scott's lead solo was tight af, gober is grooving, and aeschliman is the rhythm god
I love that Tim and Scott each take up one side of the stereo spectrum (with different sounds as well). Just makes the soundstage so much wider...
This isn't that wide. It's actually very stagnant with hardly any reverb .. more reverb. You would here the seperation better. Or if one guy only had it. You would here a bigger difference
No lie - wish the recorded the actual song like this rather than having it super over produced
most bands do that
Lol you mean like literally every 2 guitar band ever ? Weird flex
I love Polyphia because theres no waste. Theres no note thats like random or out of touch; no cymbal hit too few or too many. Absolute beauty
I know this is subjective, but the same could be said for a lot of bands. It just seems to be the standard created by our generation through the accessibility of the internet and ease of home recording setups (get ready to work your ass off if you don't have a convenient pile of money laying around). With the oversaturation it's becoming increasingly important to standout and create your own brand of music. That's not even mentioning the marketing side of music as much as one may hate to admit it. The musician also has to be marketable, because not everybody (speaking for myself) falls in line with current trends. I never have, never will, but I guess you just have to embrace your strengths and learn how to adapt. Pointless rant aside, not trying to take away from what you said, I completely agree. The main take away for someone like me is not only the saucy aspect of their music, but how do you take what they do and inject it into your own secret sauce. That's all
Ya they are pretty neurotic about that. 🤙
Eco metal
@GymBum I'll admit I'm a poindexter when it comes to music and a lot of things. I'm not trying to detract from the authenticity of the music. I'm just being honest. I might actually get a little recognition if I was more willing to put myself out there and risk failure. One of the hardest parts for me is being more open with other people. It doesn't work well for building friendships through music and life in general. I'm not the worst, but I've had my moments. I don't have natural confidence, I'm hard on myself, and I don't like a lot of attention unless there's a guitar in my hands. You get what you give, and if you give a lot, you'll be successful as long as you learn from your mistakes and never give up. That's all
Funny because I think the contrary. No memorable melody and loads of unecessary notes. But to each their own and I'm happy people like them.
My absolute favorite Polyphia song. I listen to this over and over everyday. Thank you so much guys for your hard work and creativity putting this together 🙏
Man the more natural sounding, less produced drums sound SOOOO much better. I love this sound so much
Polyphia is really on a different new level, some of the songs that come out i don't like them in the beginning but later on i realise my ears are just not fine-tuned enough to hear so many things going on and after i listen for a few times i just fall in love and can't get enough lol
It’s been happening to me too.
At first i didnt quite like neurotica but damn it has been growing on me.
Every time it sounds better
Me too
I like this song cause you can actually hear whats going on. Some of their songs there is just so much going on that its unrealistic to even try to hear or understand it so its like too much.
@@Phantombuick1 Most of it is pretentious crap, trying WAY to hard to be overly complicated and gimmicky. Doing way too much. I prefer a great melody and pocket. This song is better than a lot of their other stuff, but its still really not my preference. I can appreciate the skill involved, but there is more to music for me than just how many gimmicky techniques you can cram into one run. It remind me a lot of Charles Berthoud. SUPER talented bassist. But he is another one that at times just tries WAY too hard to be overly complicated and cram every technique in the book in one sequence and it just takes away from what could be a great song/melody if he just cut out all the BS.
We need this for every song!!!
Exactly!

Definitely the best recording I have heard of this song. Well rounded, every member crushes it and has their sound shine through.
This video was sick because you really

Such a sick solo
Scottie's playing has grown exponentially these last couple years. He's such a beast. He has to practice 8 hours a day.
I'd love to see a 4-split screen that just focuses on each band member, maybe alternating with close-ups of how they're playing their instruments. Great sound from here, for the record
Panels for each band member and then 1 for the mv, like what Wintergaten did for Star Machine 2000
we have that already. it's called a live concert.
Yea too much camera panning id much rather see all 3 at the same time and then throw in some drum angles to break it up.

Totally astonishing how great everyone is together and individually! Brilliant composing and arranging.
2:39 I missed these kind of harmonies between Scott and Tim, wish it was included in the original song
It's included in the tab weirdly enough, you can't just barely hear it on the recording like some of the harmonies in Finale
nice deadlift
that harmony IS in the original song, but it's hard to catch in the mixing.

I don't know if I can overstate how well the tone of everything is... Like the bass is so deep and heavy and clear, both guitars are such a perfect contrasting flavor and the simplicity of the snare is refreshingly perfectly dry over all the other complex instrument tones. Very well mixed and such good amounts of simple detail. Great job guys.

They are just unbelievable !!! Probably the most talent in a room ever !!!!!!
The bass lines are what makes polyphia more unique honestly
I mean it isn't *the* thing but it def adds a lot
@@sypwer aside from Tim henson’s particular style, any other guitar instrumental band can achieve the same thing. Majority of them do not have a bass player who stands out. That’s what I meant by unique
I agree.Gober is awesome! A lot of bands have good bassists and it does add body to their songs, but I just love how hard it pops here.
This version showcases Clay G in a really great way. This was the first time I really got to appreciate the bass run at the end of Scott's solo, and I've listened to the studio version a few dozen times. I am all for Polyphia moving into this post-processed, effects-heavy hip-hop/pop fusion world, but I do hope in the future they re-release some of these more effects-heavy tracks with just the base instruments.

Such a beautiful sounding piece of music. Amazing. Fun and vibrant and the skills you all have is mind blowing. The way the currents of your individual flows merge is not only creative and inspiring but a genuine joy to hear. Well in chaps.
I only discovered this band about a week ago when my boyfriend wanted to show me an example of a new (to me) genre. To his surprise I LOVE it! There is so much intricacy to the sound, and each member is just grooving so contentedly and making it look easy. It's wonderful.
(Also the one in front - Tim? - looks so ridiculously pretty that he seems more like an anime or Final Fantasy character than a real person in all of these videos. I was legit surprised by him in the first video I watched. All of the men are handsome but he is stunning.)
This is pretty much my experience too (weird eh?). Came across them a week or so ago via a Rick Beato vid, and have been mesmerized by the skill of these guys, and the sheer beauty of Tim Henson, who I thought initially was a girl but then learned he has a Chinese mother and Caucasian father. For some reason, mixed race people often have a certain standout beauty about them. And I'm a straight married middle aged guy.
