You can put the pump up higher in the vinegar on a brick or two and also put the pump in a cheesecloth. I have used that for a fountain to keep the leaves out and clog the pump.
I clean brass using Lemi-Shine dishwasher cleaner powder and lemon Ajax liquid detergent diluted in water. Even if the brass heavily tarnished, it looks like new when it’s done in a tumbler. I have no idea how it would work on rust, or with using a fountain, but it may be worth a try. My thought is that it’s swapping out acetic acid in vinegar for citric acid.
did a few with vinegar, some with acetone due to old tank liner failure, acetone takes care of most of those liner coatings.. then I used a product called "Ospho" found at at the hardware store, Home Depot ect....now that is "the king" of tank cleaner!!...did an old triumph tank with a acetone soak shake with drywall screws then a dose of Ospho and a shake every 10 min. for a half hour, dump it out thats it..the inside looks like bright metal. ..great stuff!!, and a common product ,it converts rust to a black hardened debris then rinse quickly with acetone ( because acetone will not cause flash rust like water based vinegar or soapy water) to clear the converted rust, do another treatment of Ospho just to see if you got it all and it will remain on the metal like a sealant even gas proof...works converting on the outside rust as well....your carb float valve seats will thank you for it!!....D.
Heating the vinegar will speed it up even more. I cleaned an old carby with vinegar. The hole thing was sitting in a tin of vinegar for an entire day and hadnt really done that much. So I sat the whole thing on top of my fire box, and gently boiled it. It was totally clean withing half an hour.
Why would you not just fill the tank with vinegar and leave it overnight as surely with your method you're not hitting the nooks and crannies or the inside of the top surface?
How do you get it so it's filling the tank at the same rate it's coming out through the petcock...so it doesn't overflow...or not fill up enough? The only time I used vinegar I had some bad flash rusting that turned into this thick corrosion on the inside of the tank. That's why I switched to Evaporust.
Thankfully I haven’t had it get clogged and overflow. I do rinse the tanks out first so maybe that helped. With regards, to flash rusting. I had similar issues when I would fill the tank. For some reason it doesn’t do that with the pump.
I had a customer tell me that he uses diluted molasses to clean tractor tanks 1 part molasses to 9 parts water. I’d be interested to see how fast it works. He said he uses molasses for feed because it’s cheaper. He claimed it works just like evaporust I never tried it so I can’t confirm or deny. Google said it works with the same chemical reaction but how fast is the question. The last couple tanks I’ve cleaned I needed quick so I used evaporust because I knew what to expect.
I have heard the same thing molasses. Looks like I will be buying some feed molasses. Thanks for the suggestion. At least my old tanks will get de-rusted.
Great video. I may have to give this one a shot. Now I'm off to the bathroom
😂🤣😂

That’s a good idea. Thanks for watching.
Good job 👏
Thanks so much.
great way to clear tank thanks
Thanks for watching.
That worked so well!
Really good and quicker. Thanks for watching.
You could try spray paint filters to filter the vinegar
Great idea. Thanks for watching.
I always wondered why nobody uses those paint shakers like the paint stores use.
That’s a great idea. Time to start googling.

Good job brother.
Thanks so much.
wow that looks a great way and cheap could see it with my own eyes ❤
Came out really good. Thanks for watching.
I used an old cement mixer and screws works very well on the heavier rust
That’s a great idea. Just where do I store it when not in use?😂🤣😂

I like this idea. 💡Find a heating element for the bucket. 🤔thanks for sharing.

What about adding a sprayer end to the house to get more coverage?
That’s a great idea. 💡 Thanks for watching.
Great idea with the pump and shop vac. What % of acidity vinegar are you using?
This is just normal white vinegar. Im a cheapskate and won’t splurge for the expensive stuff!!🤣😂🤣
@@motorcyclerewind Yeah, after watching I saw how expensive the higher % are.
Use a filter system like you would put on your ice maker or try like one of the pur filters just put it in line or automotive fuel flters
That sounds like a good idea. Thanks

I have used toilet bowl cleaner with good results!
It works so good. Thanks for watching.

If one had access to sulfuric acid from dead batteries maybe.
I’m game!! 🤣😂🤣
