Thank you Susan 😊
Wonderful and very clear demonstration of how to do this. Thanks! Can't wait to try it out.
Thanks for the tips! I've had to do plenty of stitch ripping over the years, I will try your method next time
Thanks for the demo! I struggle with unstitching and watching you has been a game changer.
Great tips , thanks you so much
Thanks Susan. I thought all these years I was doing unpicking wrong, guess not, this is exactly how I do this exciting part of quilting😜
And people wonder why we're so good at it 😂
Wow, Susan, that Corner/Points tip was A-mazing! Ty soo much!
Oh wow…looks so easy. I tried it earlier today but pulled top thread back too far. I get it now! Thanks!
This is so helpful! Thank you Susan!
Wow amazing! You’ve enlightened me! 👏🏼👏🏼😄 Thank you!
You are my hero! I'm so grateful for these tips.
I love that you described exactly what you are doing. I've seen you do this on Live and Unscripted, but never picked up on the 45 degree detail. Thanks.
Thank you. This has come at the perfect time
This is a big help! Thanks! Also, a lint roller or a piece of masking or painter's tape helps to quickly and easily pick up all your loose pieces of thread.
It absolutely does...although I don't find it picks up the bottom thread bits if I use the cutting method. But maybe you've found something sticky that works. If so, grand!
Thank you for showing these tips!
Great topic! I’ve often wondered how you unstitch so fast!! Thank you!!
Thank you!
Years ago I had a class with Maureen Noble. She taught us how to remove stitches with a moustache trimmer. It has been a game changer. I don’t know if it would work on the longarm but for unpicking the quilt top it is fabulous. The trimmer does not pull the fabric.
I’ve used one on my sewing, but I like to pull all the threads to the top at the longarm. It’s always worth a try tho….maybe it works better than I imagine😁
@@StitchedBySusan I agree the longarm sewing is a challenge on another level
Wow thank you nice tip
thx
Can't wait to have a boo-boo on my quilt so I can try this! Ha Ha. Really, thanks for the tips!
I keep a round point tapestry needle hanging on my machine near at hand to pick individual stitches so there is no way I can jab the sharp end of the seam ripper into the fabric.
Thank you so much Susan for that tip on on picking the stitches I've got a lot to do like I said I have a lot of quilts that I have not on picked and I need to unpick them you have any tips about tension on the long arm I have a in tomorrow 20 inch long arm and I've been having a lot of problems with the tension a lot of nesting in the back of my quilts and then when I get the nesting taken care of then it goes along fine and all of a sudden the thread breaks and shears what would you do about that again thank you much
If there are a lot of nests I would start with a deep look at threading. Is it for sure correct? Are the any burrs? Or do the tension discs need cleaning? It seems like something’s keeping the thread from flowing smoothly and evenly.
I don’t have a long arm, but I was trying to so some free motion on my Juki and didn’t like the color thread I was using. Plus, the stitches are really, really tiny. (I’m a beginner.). So I put the quilt away, not knowing what to do. These suggestions might help me. Thanks!
Unless you’re desperate, I don’t recommend undoing large amounts. Learn what you can from it…and accept it and move on. That’s my sage advice, but of course it’s up to you😁
Do you think this technique could work on a loose quilt, not on a long arm? Thank you from a newbie quilter.
By all means try, but I do think the tension on the quilt is part of the equation.
Thanks Susan. Love your tips!
Frogging!!
Are there other ways to unstitch?
oh yes! Likely as many as there are quilters! These are just the ones that work well for me.
