Back in 1989 I used a Wiggy's Ultralite with a half zip that you madefor me for an Appalachian trail thru-hike. Unfortunately, I didn't take the canoe when I reached the Kennebec river and almost drowned. Everything in my pack was completely soaked, including my sleeping bag. However, I slept warmly that night, and by morning the bag and the clothes I had stuffed in the bottom of the bag (it made sense to me to sleep naked rather than wearing wet clothes) were bone dry. I was stunned. Best bag I ever owned. After I finished the trail I went to live and work at an Outdoor Ed center, sleeping in that bag every night for the next 3 years. Thanks Jerry!!
I'm retired Navy EOD. Wiggy's bags kept me mission ready over nearly every terrain on earth. I firmly believe in this product and recommend it to anyone that must stay warm.
Awesome video! Haven't been in the store/factory for several years. Back when gas was affordable I would drive out from CA to visit family in CO once or twice a year. I would leave 3am or so and drive straight thru. Stopped by Wiggy's almost every time to buy some goodies. I would usually arrive just before closing time, with a gallon of Pepsi in my system, and giddy as a school girl to be there. The kind ladies working there would be like, "OK, let's get your stuff together, we don't want your spaceship to leave without you!". But seriously, outstanding products and top notch customer service. Looking forward to buying some boots and socks ASAP. I absolutely love going camping with friends who buy Chinese bags (for more money) and busting their chops when they come out of their tents in the morning miserably cold, little or no sleep under their belt, and I've slept like a little baby in my Wiggy's bag. Only problem with the Wiggy's bags is that they don't come in fruity colors with racing stripes on them. Not a problem for me, but you know how superficial some folks are these days.... Thank you for all the outstanding products, Jerry and company
Well you can start the trips again since gas is getting cheap. Hope to see you soon and the boots are great. Now that winter is here and we have snow on the ground I wear them daily. Thanks for the kind words. WIGGY
I called Wiggy's and was surprised to talk with Wiggy himself. I bought the Antarctic bag with the over bag. My brother in law and I drove from Seattle to Anchorage and slept in the back of his SUV at night with the windows cracked. The temps got down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit up there in Canada and I was toasty warm. I loved it! Maybe I need an Antarctic jacket now for Chicago.
I've used Wiggy's sleeping bags exclusively since 1990 The outfitter (and very close friend) I wrangled for used an old "cowboy bedroll" with a surplus military down mummy bag and always swore that "when this bag gives out I'm retiring" but instead he listened to me and ended up being a licensed sales rep for Wiggy's products - the best sleeping bags on the planet !!
You know, this was one of the coolest, down to earth videos I've seen on the subject. That and the fact these are made in the U.S, I'm going over to the website and buy one of these bags for my bug out bag. Even though I have 2 ECWS systems and a couple of other cheap commercial bags rated at 20 and 0, I'm adding one of these to my system. Thanks for the lesson.
Thanks for the tour and such excellent products. I just placed an order for my new sleeping bag & overbag. More will follow because your products are so great and unlike no other!! Keep up the good work Jerry.
I'm a Mechanical Engineer and for me there is nothing better than seeing the process of making. And it is convincing. Just ordered your Antarctic sleeping bag.
I know sleeping bag brands can be fiercely debated. I have had many bags at different ratings from most of the big names (down and synthetic) and I now own 2 Wiggy's FTRSS models. At first I was upset because they are a bit heavier and bulkier than some bags but I soon found that my Superlight FTRSS is the most comfortable sleeping bag system I have ever owned! In all other bags and quilts I have sweated and froze, almost never really being comfortable. This two bag system keeps me comfortable at a wide range of temps. I haven't had it below 0 yet but am confident it will do okay. I believe the secret is it pulls the moisture away from my body. My wife has the same opinion about the bags comfort, they are SO comfortable! I wouldn't get rid of them for the world.
Brian Krupp I found out the same thing you did Brian . I got tired of being cold all the time . Hasn't happened even once in my wiggys bags . The ability to be able to machine wash wiggys bags makes it that much better . And being well made , another bonus . Definetly get what you pay for with wiggys gear .
mr. wigitow , has always spoken with me on any pariculars and any specialty related question i have ever asked of him , plus his product is made right here in the good ol, u.s.of a. wiggys is a different sort of man , he doesnt mess around when it comes to his product line and their quality , which is 2nd to none . as well , his customer service quality is very rare to find in todays marketplace . he has never lied to me , tried to sell me anything i didnt want or need , has always offered constructive critism in a professional manner . makes some of the best products ive used in the outdoors . and he does so , at a very reasonable fair competitive price . what more can you ask of a man in business ? he doesnt have to get on the phone and personally answer my questions , he has a staff working for him that could do that if he so chose it to be so . but , he choses not to . me...at 54 yrs old , and i take sleeping comfortable and warm , deadly serious , no matter where im camped ......i dont give a damn where your from . no business owner does that for minumal or big orders equally to everyone . if i had the money i would likely at least buy half or more of one of each of everything he makes . why? because it works , cost effective ...and nowhere can you harldy ever find this level of customer service . thank you mr. wigitow for the fine servie you offer to all of us and the world !
I miss my purple Wiggy’s mummy bag. Will definitely be purchasing a replacement soon. Unfortunately it looks like they no longer have the purple fabric in stock. Oh well, I know that it will still be as warm and comfortable as my old bag even if I will miss the cheery purple exterior.
when i ride the bike up that way this fall . im going to stop in and say hello if mr. wigetow is there , and probably buy more gear .getting around his showroom for me , will be as bad a a 20 yr old with her daddys trust fund . hey....sorry folks....i just like his equipment he makes . plus i just want to see why their sop good in person....curiosity . he gave me back my warm nights sleep in a hammock without waking up in pain . i cannot say that for anyone elses equipment ive bought in the past for the outdoors , camping , and canoing , fishing , hunting ,,,,basically all i do in the outdoors every chance i get....see you soon jerry ! thanks again buddy
It is like nothing else....except for Arc'teryx "Thermotek" insulation! Both companies use exactly the same thing...Climashield laminated to a piece of fabric. Both companies claim a unique, proprietary insulation, when they are really just using insulation that anybody could buy.
So he basically designs that Antarctic parka to be similar to a Canada Goose Parka but thinks his copy is better than the original time tested and proven product? He has to know that his 'lamilite' product is nowhere near the level of a Canada Goose product. If not why imitate them?
blkcpdconure I did not design the Antarctic parka. it was a combination of two parkas that were purchased the patterns that is from George Lamb who owned Camp 7. He in my opinion was the most talented outerwear designer the outdoor industry ever saw. I just modified the two to one. At the time I started making my parka Canada goose did not exist but metro sports its former name . I looked at their website and found they do not have a parka that looks like mine. As for performance down absorbs moisture and looses its insulation capability and Lamilite does not. Our parkas are used by the oil patch in Alaska and now those in N.D. are buying them. All of the parkas used in Antarctica were made by a company in Utah and they were YOLD by Antarctic Associates to use Lamilite. Maybe you should get your facts straight befor you speak or in this case write.
Jerry Wigutow I'm not the one whose facts are skewed 'All of the parkas used in Antarctica were made by a company in Utah and they were 'YOLD' by Antarctic Associates to use Lamilite." Go to wikipedia and type in United States Antarctic Program and read
blkcpdconure for give me it should have said "told" . I don't know who you are and it is irrelevant. maybe you work for the goose but the facts are the facts and you or they can not change that.
Jerry Wigutow So I challenge you in a very smart-ass manner and your response consists of facts. That seriously tells me that those who speak ill of you seem to have some other issues. I apologize for implying that you don't produce a solid product. I used one of your Superlights last winter and it kept me toasty warm at -7F. I'm contemplating picking up one of your military bags w/bivy for the wildlife research I'm involved with in northern MN outside of winter when I'm not sleeping in my tent.
blkcpdconure No apology necessary. thanks for using the Super light and stating you used it below published rating successfully. I under rate my bags to account for such instances. look forward to selling you the center zip bag. As for the Antarctic parka, it came about when the Barrow Alaska police department asked for a winter parka.about 20 years ago. we made samples for them using different materials and insulation weights always Lamilite. they paid me for every sample this was not a freebie situation. the chose the supplex for the shell and L-12 for the insulation. If it works in Barrow it works every place else in the world. we are the largest sold winter parka in Alaska today to include the oil patch.

need a break-away zipper for those late night nature calls...
If DTrump made sleeping bags, he would be this guy
