For me abnormal synergy is everywhere. 1. If I bend the knee on my unaffected side the affected side knee also wants to bend. 2. If I bend the knee on the affected side, my arm also flexes. 3. If I do leg raises on my affected side, the knee likes to bend. I think not having foot and ankle movement contributes to most of it. It's like my brain doesn't know the difference between the arm and the leg, When I lift the affected side leg up, it wants to drop down quickly, I think that's the tone/spasticity. I also can't bring my foot up towards my back, so this affects walking also. Still working, it's a tough road but still going.

I noticed this when I am tired and walk more than usual or as I climb the stairs. Thanks Tara, certainly in a daily rotation. Have a nice week.😄

My gait feels like I’m trying to grab the ground in front of me with my toes

Me too! I remember the first time I walked in my yard post-stroke. It was like my feet were trying to get hold of the ground. Like claws trying to dig into the ground, weird right

I've always said that especially in public it gets way worse , I'm fighting myself to move. I think it triggers a panic attack out in public which causes my affected side muscles to stiffen

My right-side stroke was understandably treated according to the apparent physical conditions of the leg and arm extremities. But an overarching factor concerns my core control and general responsiveness to environmental surprises. I found that after my stroke, I was very skiddish to the point of losing my balance upon a simple honk of the horn. Although I'm getting stronger with greater resilience to the surprises, I'm guessing it'll be many more years before I'm close to where I was beforehand. Anyway, I found my core to be equally if not more affected than the obvious extremities which have the finite muscular definition we can all visually perceive.
