Because of Jo Koy I now have an arsenal of photos/videos of my son in his sister's tutu's, playing tea, sleeping in her Princess bed and his multiple meltdowns through the years. He's 12 now.. Now I just sit back and wait for him to pop off 😂😂😂

My daughter cried so hard the night before her first day of Kindergarten. Like literally so hard she made herself puke. She was scared to leave me because I was very pregnant with her youngest siblings (twins) but she was more scared to leave her younger brother and sister. And the day of her little face was red and blotchy and her eyes were red and puffy. So of course I washed her up and took her to school. I knew the crying would stop as soon as she got in and met other kids. She met kids, but still wasn’t wanting me to leave her. After about a hour later. I snuck by the closed kindergarten door. And she looked like she was having fun. So I went home for the last hour of school. I came back to get her and stood back she was laughing and talking and having a blast. Then she saw me and instantly started crying like she hadn’t seen me in years. I asked what was wrong. And she just said oh I just missed you so much. The next morning I planned on walking her in AGAIN. And she told me no she was a independent gal. And barely waited for the car to stop and jumped out. That was 31 years ago.
Oh wow time flies huh. That’s so sweet but yeah I think a lot of kids cry on the first day of school.

Oh sweetie!!! I'm sorry to hear that. It was his loss at being able to see you walk in on your first day of school. Even though your mom was bruised up and probably a bit embarrassed she sucked it up and escorted her little girl into her class. So at least you had a good caring mom.
Man, I first remember randomly switching to this one night. I didn't even know who you were but I watched it because of the Filipino references.

First day of school I thought of all those heart crushing scenes of my baby girl crying, not wanting me to leave her with a class of strangers. She dashed into the crowd of her age without even looking back. I cried, for a whole different reason.
My wife is filipina. The Filipino family's are always happy no matter how poor they are. I love there toughness and culture

My son did the exact thing to me. I was almost in tears and he was embarrassed because I was taking him to school. He is 11 and goes to 6th grade. He asks me to leave him half a block from school. Maybe is because he likes a girl at his class. Even told me to buy fancy chocolates for her this valentine's day.

Same here, My daughter's first day of kindergarten, I picked her up and we were walking home. She said in her clearest voice "Mom, walk ahead, pretend you don't know me". My heart dropped. I still remember that feeling from that memory. she's 23 years old now.:)

I am half Filipino like Jo. My Mom is what we call a true FilAm. She was born in Stockton Ca in 1948. When my twin sister and I went to our first day of school, we didn't fuss or cry, we couldn't wait to get to school. We looked at the fence line where all the parents were, Mom was crying her eyes out.
My Dad, who is a true American immigrant (He immgrated with granny to Los Angeles from Ennis County Clare Ireland in 1959 when he was 13 with his two younger sisters) Was sitting in the car reading the newspaper.. Hahahahaha!

When my youngest was in kindergarten, they were standing outside waiting for their parents to pick them up. My son had warned the teacher that he didn't feel well and she said it was ok because his mom would come get him. My son turned next to the little girl beside him and he threw up all over her and her backpack. He said he felt much better after that.
I remember when my papa go to kindergarten with me and I try to chase him away because the class wil start " princess how can you do that to papa , when your brothers go to school for the first time they don't want me to leave and they hang to my pants like a koala and cried that they don't want to go to school " and I answered him " but papa im not them ,im a big girl now so go home papa and cook lunch " and he jusk laught at me and he stay outside the classroom sitting on the bench while waiting for the class to end .

I could relate to this. I remember my mom dropping me off in Kindergarten and she would literally just sit therein the classroom looking at me. I’m like “what is she still doing here? Nobody else’s mom is here.” Then when she would finally leave, I’d think, “finally!” 🤣 she assumed that I would cry like she did as a kid. I freakin’ relished in my little bit of freedom from her even as a 5/6 year old.
