In the 1940s in Detroit, my grandmother went to the market on Saturdays and rode the city bus home with a live chicken in her grocery bag. She wouldn’t buy a dead chicken to feed her family. She kept it in the attic until she was ready to “process” it for dinner. She wasn’t half as humane as you are with them. You’re doing great! Love your vlogs so much!
Wow that's a cute story of ur grandma. ❤😂 The thing our anesters did for our family
Lol 😂
@@debbiebousquet5677The things our ancestors did for thier families was what was nessasary. There was no choice. Today we have a choice & with all the consequences, easy doesn't seem to be as Godly or as healthy.
Are used to walk up to the henhouse with my grandma and she would pick out her chicken and they butchered right there. We take it home and eat it. It was awesome and then we had the strawberry man that drove through the alley yelling strawberries, strawberries for sale that was in Chicago northwest side and we could get blueberries we could get eggs we could get all kind of stuff from the strawberry man some of my best memories
Did grandma go to the Eastern Market? Loved that place❤️
Sarah, it looks like you are really taking to farm life. Embrace it, because it is the best life ever. I have spent most of my life doing it, but not so much now that I have aged. Since I am alone now I mostly buy my produce from farmers markets, but I still enjoy cooking and preserving. I cook a large meal for my two brothers almost every Sunday. They are also alone now. The three of us were never blessed with children but we still have each other.
When I was 57, the last of my 3 siblings and parents died. I have no children. Can I come to Sunday dinner? I'll clean up afterward! 😉
You are a great sister!
@@OurTribeofMany thank you.
Awe! So nice of you to cook for your brothers. Do the three of you live together? I hope you can take care of each other that way.
@julien2912 no we don't live together, but they live in the same house. While I love them dearly I can't imagine living with them. I cook and take it to their house. My oldest brother is considered legally blind although he can see a little. If they needed me to I would but for now I live in my own home.
Some days when I feel super overwhelmed, I make what I call a reverse list. I write down everything I get done as soon as I complete the task. It helps on the days when I feel that I didn't accomplish much to look back and realize I actually did a lot. ❤
I like that idea except that I personally need a list to remember all the things I need to do. Otherwise my brain races with all the things I need to do. It is ok for me if it doesn't all happen but it gives me peace of mind.
Great idea
What a lovely idea, thanks foe sharing!
I had never thought of that. What a super idea. Thanks!
Love that!
Just something we use with our new chicks that helps them stay warm n comfortable like they are with them mom!
We hang a feather duster or several up in their coop about an inch above ground! They will huddle under the duster together! All our chicks have absolutely loved the dusters! It helps to keep them warm n their body temperature regulated!
Hope it helps!
You need to start a summer camp..
Wow what an inspired idea!!! 🥰❤️🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁
I had a cochin chicken who insisted from year one that she was gonna be a mom. She would go broody and would sit on nonfertilized eggs so often that i traded five of my eggs for five eggs from a farmer with roosters. This bird was the best mom . These are hearty birds, well feathered with feathers on her legs so she handled cold Canadian winters well.
Awww such a sweet story,I love all animals, they all love to be loved
Just think of all the wonderful memories you are giving your children. Life is sometimes challenging and they will remember you and their siblings love and care for them with Christ’s love. One of the best parts of parenting is seeing my boys in their 30’s helping each other. ❤
FYI: Barn cats should always be fed.
Sarah you crack me up. 😂 if you eat chick fil a you can’t say anything.
😂😂. Totally agree!! IMO even vegans shouldn’t say anything. The Lord provided us with animals for food. What y’all are doing is a good thing.
The number of animals on the farm brings a whole new meaning to “Our Tribe of Many”. I agree, writing a “To Do” list frees the mind and it feels so good to check something off your list. WTG Sarah, Solo and family best wishes from London, England.
Heeheehee yes they r definitely a tribe now with birds cats dog an kids.. definitely a mixed tribe.... So much love an fun.... ❤
You and Solo have such a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing with us! My husband and I never had any children because of medical issues. I get so much joy from watching your family.
Go Eli!!! Those back flips were great!
When it gets cold, blankets can collect moisture and freeze. It will offer no heat to cats. Straw is recommended as bedding. No blankets.
Thanks for the tip!
Sarah, I am a list person. Love crossing things off and if I do something not on the list I add it and then cross it off too. Love seeing the kids on the trampoline. Have a great weekend.
Me too! Lol
I love watching your homesteading so much. I once had 3 chickens in my tiny surburban backyard. I may get them again soon, they were so delightful to watch everyday.
My mom and dad raised roasters and fryers and our neighbour’s raised egg layers as they could not process the birds. (They raised them like pets) We got eggs and they got processed birds. Worked out for both families. Still have memories of processing days.
Memories-or nightmares? I cannot meet the animal or bird & then eat them. ALL animals have personalities, in-my opinion.
I would not have a hair left on my head if I were to try to do what you do all day !! You have my greatest admiration ! Bless ya'l !
I believe she thrives on chaos, though. Some people do!
We had a chick/ rooster born with a bad leg. Named him "hop a long" cuz that's how he got around. Was my daughter's bedt friend and she protected him all the time
We started with 14 chickens and 2 ducks over 2 years ago. With meat birds we've had approximately 80+ birds temporarily. After processing we are down to about 40. Once you get the processes down pat is less overwhelming.
Also, we pray before we proceed thanking God for giving us domain over the animals, thanking Him for letting them provide food for our family and to let it be quick, not to let them suffer.
Y'all are doing great, praise God!🙌
Sarah the chicken whisperer. LOL Love you guys. I came from a large family and your tribe brings back many memories from my childhood of chickens, cows and hogs. We processes chickens every year. Dad strung a line and hung the chickens from the line by their foot and then cut off their heads. Kept the birds from flopping all over the ground. The flopping caused bruising of the meat. Hope that idea works for you.
Ahhh, your family is the best! I love Peace shaking her head “no” about wanting more of those red onions and she meant it! 😂 Also, Luka looks so happy to drive, and Belle is so busy going off on her own. Micah praising your kombucha skills! And all the kids playing on the trampoline with Peace stealing the show! Not to forget, your assortment of animals and the thoughtfulness with which you take care of them. You have become a true farmers. You guys are so amazing!
p.s. I am a list person, too!
I don’t see my grands much and family is not close… so I look forward to program everyday!! Plus you have taught me how to be more organized. Peace is so funny. I love all your kids. I recognize each one’s speciality. Thank you.. love the chaos too.
What a great family! Such cooperation amongst the children is the sweetest most loving thing ever. Watching your video is a ministry in itself! A double shift for your son, good for him, so mature🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻all your wonderful children!
Back flips on POINT!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Your chickens have a wonderful life! They are lucky to be with you! Bless you and the birds you raised so humanely ❤
We just had a friend get to church and a kitten hitched a ride under their van all the way there! 😂 the struggle is real, the kitten was fine and hung out in kids church until it was time to go home :)
I'm loving the new longer vlogs. Have an awesome day all
That’s exactly what I wanted to say. More long vlogs please. I can’t get enough of this awesome family.
Glad you like them!
I get excited when I see a new vlog. I'm learning so much from you. I wish we could have chickens where I live. I would love the fresh eggs. When I see your to do list, I get overwhelmed. I pray for you on a daily basis. 🙏🏽
Thank you Sara for sharing your life with me. I feel such a peace surrounding me when I watch your videos. Love your animals and children.
I totally agree!!!
Another action packed day!!! God bless you! Soooo many lives to tend to! I love Micah’s mustache! And I also love the closing video of kids on trampoline and swing! That’s the life! That little Peace is adorable!!!! And lastly- go Eli!! Amazing!❤
Tori busted the boys out. If the boys just pick their stuff up, you won't need to do the downstairs bathrooms. 😅
Mom always needs to check the bathroom! 😂 mainly for the kids own safety 🦠
I love making lists for things that need to be done! And makes you feel so good n accomplished when you can mark off things!
When are they going to started building your house. Have you sold your other house? Love your channel . Give us a update.
Not sold yet…will start the new one as soon as that happens
Please get a safety net for the trampoline. You have a wonderful family.
Loving the homestead content.. you are doing so great!! Thank you for sharing!
I have a friend that raises chickens, she puts a golf ball in the nest, which encourages the hen to lay eggs and to sit the nest. 🐥🐣
That ending!!! That was so cool and awesome! He nailed it. ❤
A list and a clean sink are essential for getting through the day in one piece. The chicks are such fun. May be a little hard to process with the kids getting attached to them, but everything looks like it’s coming together for you all. My dad and uncles used to hunt wild turkeys and recruited us kids to help process them. I can still imagine large headless birds flopping around in the yard. Our job was to pluck feathers, it took forever. I wasn’t able to eat turkey for a long time. 😂😂
When I was a kid, it was chickens, rabbits & pigs. My pig was Rosie. We had my dad's friends pig too Priscilla. I only ate on the nights we were eating Priscilla!😂
Hi Sarah, I love seeing kids and animals everywhere!! There is so much always going on....Never a dull moment. :)
Such a sweet and lovely family. Thank you for adding lots of good people to this world that needs it.
I love what you and Solo are doing on the farm for your beautiful family! I did a bit of the farm life when i was younger and much more mobile than i am now. Your videos bring back to me the lovely memories! Many blessings to you and the tribe. ❤
Love your family and love seeing your every day life.
Mary - you keep it real!! Love Tori wanting to cook. Beautiful family. Thank you for sharing a day in the life of the Tribe of Many. Keeping those priorities straight is a challenge and an ongoing process. ❤

Thanks for sharing your beautiful Family!
Oh my goodness!!! My heart is absolutely EXPLODING after this!!!!!!!! Your channel does that for me often, Sarah, and it’s part of why I love your content so very much. You fill my cup!! 😂😂 There is SUCH beauty in the every day, in sitting down with your husband in the evening (or at 10pm let’s be honest lol!!) and basking in all you’ve accomplished. Some days it was just keeping the kids alive. 😂😂 Days like this it was EVERYTHING!! …except what you planned for. Dang it! Ha!! I just LOVE y’all having family around all the time (hey Nana!! 🤗🤗) and your older kids being there for you and their siblings without question while also being responsible and caring and devout. Belle being on church time lol!! And Luka picking up shifts and helping with rides in between. Don’t even get me started on what a hero Tori, Micah, Noelle and Eli are!! Eli got 7 flips!!!! So brave dude!!! Little Peacey Sweetie on the trampoliiiiiiine stop it!!!!!! My heart can’t take it!! And the kitties!! And the goofy puppy lol!! And the BIRDS!!!! That clip of you walking to feed the birds, surrounded by your kiddos and chickens lol!! I rewound that like 5 times! It put tears in my eyes!! Is that so silly!! I just absolutely LOVE how you’re living and how you’re including your kids and how positively you’re handling every step of the journey and how you’re always learning!!!!!! I think I’ve said it before.. ‘inspired’ is the CHEEEESIEST word ever lol but it’s all I can think of when I see you!! I am not a chicken raisin kombucha kinda girl LOL!! But there is a LOT I’m learning from you. I just love you Sarah!!!!!!!!! And Solo and….. Judah Belle Luka Micah Tori Eli Noelle Hope Destiny Seth and Peace. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Heaven on earth ❤
Thank-you ❤
Keena from UK 🇬🇧
Broody is the right terminology 🙂 Silkies and Orpingtons tend to go broody often. I am constantly having to take eggs away from them because I have limited space.
I would say silkies more so than the Orpingtons, but the Orpington’s are much larger than most silkies so they can sit on more eggs at a time .
Sarah, it's so wonderful to follow your family's journey. What a blessing x
I loooooove watching your videos you are such an inspiration.Keep doing what you do.Sending love from Kenya.
Hi,
I always say this but, I love watching you guy's. I feel the happiness and love I see in your children
Love from Michigan ❤️
Love watching your family! You all work so well together and have fun at the same time! They are growing up fast!!My grandchildren grew up very fast and now I have three great grands that are growing fast too! Aria Alexander and Abigail! My sweet babies!
It's so nice to see that Nessa has acclimated to the birds so well. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the wonderful real life scenes with your children & all the baby chicks. So beautiful in the countryside! 🐤🐥☀️
Glad you enjoyed it
Sarah, you never seize to amaze me! You are living out your dream of homesteading and though it’s hard work, I’ sure it’s so rewarding! We bought some land in the Carolina’s & raising chickens would be so cool but it takes a lot of patience & perseverance AND energy which I’m lacking at the moment 😂So for now I’m just enjoying watching your homesteading journey and cheering you all on from the sidelines!! Have fun!!
Your guys are amazing! God Bless you. ❤
Sarah- I love my lists!!! I so gratified ❤
Lovely video Sarah ❤
God Bless you and your entire family, prayers to you and Kenya family, God Is Love!
Eli is very good on the trampoline! Peace is so cute trying to do what the big kids do! All your kids are really sweet! ♥️
Peace is such a trooper. She ate the red onion up and didn't spit it out even though she didn't like it.😊
Great to see the new chick's ❤ Love to see that all the kids have thier own things to do because that's the best way to get it done. There are 7 of us and we have our specific things to do.👍👍👍
I always love you videos ❤️. Blessings to you and your beautiful family❤
Morning all happy Saturday morning and I loved your vlogs and you all amazing Supporter

Hello Our Tribe of Many good to see you guys again . 👍Love your little chicks .🦋🌺🌈💖❤️😘🙏🏻 God Bless from Edith in cairns Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
I love your family.❤
Thank you for this video.
Wow, thanks for sharing!
Baby Grace & Carrie. Those are names from Little House on the Prairie. So sweet..
Love to see this. Most children that grow up in cities or in town don't always know where food comes from. You ask them where chicken or pork or beef comes from and they will tell you the store. Living out in the country we have processed our own chickens and even beef. My grandchildren have processed there own chickens also. And have raised their own pigs. It is good for children to experience that. If you have people telling you different then they don't need to watch no one forces them to. Love your channel Sarah and you and Solo are awesome parents ❤
Boy oh boy I'm tired just hearing all u do you are an amazing mom and wife
There must be something wrong with me! I laughed outloud at . . . "want her to have a happy life , until she doesn't" . . . I laughed SO hard.
I am from Canada and love your family adventures. In regards to you processing your own chickens is your choice, healthy one which you have always been providing your family since I have been watching. There will always be negative thoughts and comments.
Hey Sarah love your vlog as usual and is always checking for the next one. Many blessings to you and the family
I've always been a list girl house and errands that need to be run it so lowers the stress and I love to know I accomplished something during the day that was important to keep the family flow smooth 😎
Great video!! Mom of eleven here, from VA. We homeschool also! We only have two animals, dogs.😂 I’ve enjoyed learning about keeping chickens through your journey. Also love seeing the kittens.
You are a great mom doing amazing work! Glad you share.
Also one of our daughters did a gap year in Ethiopia, September 2022-June2023. I literally felt it when Judah left. I cried and prayed, I get it.
That is awesome!
I enjoyed this so much! Thank you!
I'm so glad!
I love watching your family ❤ The babies make me smile and laugh! Peace is so adorable. I couldn’t believe that she ate that onion. I didn’t think that my granddaughter would eat calamari , but she loves it! Kids are so funny when it comes to food likes and dislikes! Your family is so helpful to you and their siblings ❤ You have a wholesome family!
Awesome video thanks for sharing 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Awesome❗ Love the very end too👍🏻
I'm a vegan and can I say - absolutely no judgment at all. I feel like spread kindness to everyone. ❤
I give you a lot of credit to process your chickens… I do not think I could. But I also know that if that was the only option for my family then I would manage somehow. I love the idea of being self sustainable. I love how much your whole family are involved with so much. ❤
Hi Sarah from what I know the difference between the hens and roosters is the hens don’t have that red thing hanging under their neck , but the roosters have it on top and the bottom
You're doing amazing things on your homestead ❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you!
Love your vlogs! Been looking at the ones from years ago.
I just love you guys!! But I really miss Judah!😢 I pray that he is doing well and truly appreciate your updates of him. Congrats on the new chick's and can't wait to see your reaction video on the chicken processing! Also, Luka is hilarious! He is the definition of "teenager" and little brother claiming big brother stuff!😂😂😂😂
Wonderful family god bless you all ❤️ ❤
Thank you! You too!
Your farm is bursting at the seams. Love it. I helped my sister process over 225 chickens years ago. It was not fun.😂
