- A quick look at the Take Recorder in Unreal Engine. The take recorder can be confusing to understand at first. Eventually it makes sense, but it is definitely confusing in the beginning. Hopefully this video helps.
I'm with Ko Ko -- I've been lost as to how to render movies well out of Unreal. But I will say -- your EXPLANATIONS ARE PERFECT!!! Thank you for making sense of something senseless.
This helps me out a lot. I’m looking for a way to record characters doing different animations but in a cinematic way. This puts me one step closer.
That's what I can't figure out. Even after watching this. I don't know how to animate characters for cinematic scenes. Every tutorial I've found shows how to work the camera or animate for games.
Uhh, the bigger issue with PNGs, besides size, is you aren't grabbing all of the color data, where EXR sequences will capture the RAW color data, which allows you to do proper color correction on your clips in post. Also, Unreal can only render out PNGs with 8bit Color Depth, where EXRs can go all the way up to 32bit color depth.
So, yeah... if you plan on doing ANY sort of work to your render after rendering, please for the love of god use an EXR.
@usuallydopesvsc is spot on with their analysis. Color correction and exposure control are somethuing you don't get with PNGs
But how do you record camera movements in take recorder? As all you did was record a stationary shot which you don't need take recorder to do anyway.
any luck?
@@AyubRay not yet, not been able to find a good video on it, so I've put it on hold.. still keyframing manually lol
@@snookofficial7211 I have the same problem. I made some camera sequences, and now would love to trigger A2F sequence (activate play button) in perticular place at the sequencer and finally render the clip...
I’m on my phone and can’t read your settings. How did you set your output resolution and frame rate for the pngs?
Hi, i have a problem because when i take recorder of a car and a drop on the sequencer, move the car sequence bar to adjust at the pont where it will be visible on the camera everything looks fine on the preview but when i render the car is not on the render
very helpful, thank you
Can you place multiple cameras for taking multiple angles/locations?
You can right click and "pilot" your camera which makes it a lot easier to set up a shot, then just jump out to other perspective to rest of modeling / scene setup. I've got an animated camera vs a static one like yours and no matter what, it never records a take using camera's animation, despite being dragged in as the entire source for the take. Very weird system isn't it.
Hi is not possible to record gameplay sound by take recorder?
Is there a way in UE to press play on the game, run around and do stuff, and have that whole session recorded where you could go back and put in cameras on the replay to make a shortfilm?
That's a good question. We will have to explore that. UE is weird about what is will record with the take recorder. Objects that can be animated or "key frameable" have to be added to the Sequencer. And on top of that, in Non-Persistent Levels, some objects will unload completely. So it is a grey area. Need to research that one. Great question.
As Mentioned, you have to include every actor you would want to be included. Even if the actor is not a pawn, for instance if an event trigger causes an actor to animate, you must include this actor in the list of actors. Also, custom camera movement will be off compared to what is shown in preview and what renders because offsets and camera cuts do not get recored.
I just don't know how to record with the camera of my choice. How do I disable the Pilot camera and record with my imported Anamorphic? I understand Sequencer but can't fathom Take Recorder.
it's also confusing that your mannequin doesn't move but in the sequencer preview video it's moving, some people will get really confuse if they gonna enable their simulation or not but when you hit simulation it will record that. it is really confusing.
LOL. Yes it is.
I've been confused about Take recorder and Sequecer. The purpose of take recorder is to record something moving like character movement or facial expression or simulation. I mean it looks like it recorded it physically. However, the sequencer is to get those records to render out without play animation, facial expression or simulation again. Also sequncer can have different camera angle or shorts from what take recorder recorded.. I've been trying to find the answer for this all afternoon and this is my understanding and it could be wrong.. I am still learning. :)
any luck?
Looks like the "School" doesn't like further teachings👀@@AyubRay
IMO Its a workflow difference. Doing "Takes" can be much more efficient in a workflow where you want to quickly generate shots as resources for something. Right now im working with the TellTale like system for Story games, and every dialogue interaction requires a series on branching sequences to play along with each dialogue option.
At times for ONE dialogue set, I have to have up to 20 scenes for each character depending on what the player chooses. With this I dont have to make 20 Cam rails, Cranes, Cine cams, and drag drop 3 characters EVERY time.
After initial setup I can do 20 shots in 5 minutes with Take Recorder. I need at least 5 minutes to do each shot using Sequencer only.
Hope this helps
I want you to help me.
I put a character in a car with City sample of Unreal Engine 5.1 and record it with takerecorder.
When I started recording and was driving for a few seconds, the car suddenly got stuck in the road, making it impossible to drive and the take recorder stopped. (Every time, after a few seconds of driving, the car is buried in the road and the take recorder stops working.)
In the same way, I recorded a character driving a car with a take recorder, but when I played it back with a sequencer after recording and confirmed it, the situation was different from the recorded situation. I'm having trouble repeating teleportation in various places.
The car probably hit a collision that you can't see but is there. Hit player collision instead of lit
Great video, thank you.
Thanks bro
unreal engine is the perfect example of devs that don't use their own software they create there are too many problems
in this software you can find out of the box if you simply use it
Why after I finished my recording, there's no camera cuts upon actors folder? WHY??????? JUST WHY??????? 😭😭😭😭😭 I hate you god
To stop recording and the game I press escape which deletes the take. I've got to find another way to stop the game.
too muhc talking. get to the point
