  • This is MASSIVE Total War News. Never had I thought we'd hear of a Total War Star Wars game, but here we are. The reason I am so certain this is the real deal, is because this news is reported and corroborated by several outlets with their own sources, Dualshockers, Tom Henderson (Insider Gaming), and veteran members of the Total War Center. They all say the same thing - Total War Star Wars is in development, and is likely to be Creative Assembly's next flagship title. I'd like to stress that journalists like Tom Henderson is no Sunday leaker - he leaks and reports on things that actually come true in all or the vast majority of cases, and takes this stuff very seriously.
    Sources:
    Dualshockers: www.dualshockers.com/total-wa...
    Insider Gaming: insider-gaming.com/total-war-...
    Total War Center: www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...
In other words, even though there's always a chance these rumors may not be true, the amount of sources here, and importantly - where the sources come from and who they are - really do lead me to believe that a Total War Star Wars, Warhammer 40K and World War 1 are in the works and are planned for release within the next 1-5 years depending.
But what do you think? Do you agree with my reasoning or do you for some reason not trust these sources? Let me know in the comments, and make sure to leave a like and subscribe to the channel!

What are you talking about? They made another historical title fairly recently (Pharaoh) and last time I checked, WWI is very much a historical period. I'm quite interested in a WWI game, it could introduce a ton of new interesting mechanics. Why do so many people think that non historical titles mean that the historical ones are somehow dead? The historical side of Total War hasn't really changed in size or output that much. It just didn't grow as much as other parts did, because it doesn't make as much money.

when looking at it from large company’s point of view, they have made 3 fantasy games which have all done extremely well, selling tons of dlc after release and holding down a lot of players years after release than look at the last 3 historic total war games. they have all flopped majorly, why would they even consider doing another historical game when there’s no gain to be made.
while i don’t believe this is right considering that the historic games have not come close to their true potential this is the way that CA would be looking at the situation.

@@pepperVenge Three Kingdoms and Troy were both originally very fantastical until modding and later patches got round to their historical modes. They still retain all the RPG character loadout nonsense. Pharaoh was also set for this but narrowly escaped it in the end but the bandwagon had already started so most people were too stupid to re-evaluate their rantings. The recent historical titles have been token half-sesh titles, stripped bare bones 'fantasy-lite' and cartoony. The last proper pure historical title we got was Thrones of Britannia.

It's the only 1 that could be adapted but the caveating involved to make it plausible would quickly stick it into the realms of fantastical alternate history before it even began. All the historical titles have the scope to be alternate history in that you can go in different directions but they all start in a historically grounded place prior to. This wouldn't be possible with WW1 unless they made it really saga-like hyper focused on a very specific region and time period within WW1.

It seems unlikely to me given CA's state. 8 months after a $100 Million failure and many layoffs, I'm supposed to believe CA is developing 3 or 4 huge flagship products simultaneously? How many dev teams do they have? Did they open a portal to the warp for infinite resources? It would believable if they were only developing 40K and Star Wars.
I think that Total War is going to abandon historical entirely. It's not making them money and they haven't had a success with historical since 2018 with 3K, which they proceeded to foul up during its DLC cycle. 40K, LOTR, Star Wars, etc. all these are easy winners that even CA can't mess up and promise years of DLC income, which is a logical step forward from TW Warhammer.

It makes me sad that there won't be another Three Kingdoms. Its an interesting time period, and 3k had some of the best features I've seen in any total war game to date. The campaign map experience was unmatched(personally), except for the map design. The UI was exceptional and I really hope it can be used in more TW games. The UI made the game feel much more realistic, with resources like supplies, for cities and armies.
The army system was super interesting, as it only makes sense that armies that have fought under a general would remain(somewhat) loyal to that general.
Honestly I think that the Total War franchise suffers from new renewing the 3K game

  • @Vasiliy_Kazakov
    @Vasiliy_Kazakov 26 днів тому +2

The fact that Total War is not developing is solely the fault of CA. They have a lot to grow in terms of mechanics, but they just make the same game with slightly different textures. They have not been able to bring the fleet to mind, to make it a significant part of the gameplay, so that players need to use it for a comfortable game and at the same time make naval battles interesting enough in themselves. They did not bring to mind the sieges, which still very vaguely resemble what actually happened, it is necessary to introduce a greater importance of various engineering structures in them, it is necessary to create a siege camp so that the besiegers do not stand in an open field, it is necessary to increase the importance of walls, which are now almost useless, it is necessary to remove pocket ladders, add moats, shafts, the need to overcome them and so on. Sieges can generally be made such a mini-game inside the game. The main troops are also not all right, there is no supply in the game and I can send my army from Crimea to Britain without having a single transshipment base along the way, which should not be the case. The hiring of armies itself could be radically reworked, because now in the game any army of any most barbaric state is in fact regular, although in fact various forms of militia fought mainly in the centuries before the 18th century, this could lead to a bunch of interesting situations when, for example, you can't fight for too long because your the troops will simply disperse, as they need to harvest crops, and much more. I don't even touch on the topic of domestic politics and economics, there is boundless space there, there would be a desire, but there is none. There is a desire to sell players a twenty-year-old game in a new wrapper. It's so frustrating to realize what huge opportunities CA is missing out on because of its greed.

Considering how WWI was fought, I feel a WWI total war is the most realistic one CA could develop and release to satisfy the community. I mean it was massive infantry pushes and tank pushes n thanks to WHTW we have seen steam tanks, why not slap some A7V's or some Saint-Chamond tanks down. Empire and napoleon gave us a system for regiments taking cover behind barricades, in buildings, and on fort walls for the ranged units so applying that to a trench line would be easy. the trickiest part would be figuring out the WWI styled artillery which ranged from 37mm to 420mm. WWI would be the one I expect to be best received and easiest to make. 40k would be the second most likely one given total war warhammer's... "success?" perhaps persistent is a better term. 40k has a mix of tanks, melee units, and ranged units, siege units, monsters, but considering that some ships (especially in the Imperium) have guns on them bigger than a super star destroyer? I doubt there would be naval combat, it would most likely be locked to a single planet like the battle of Kronus featured once already in Dawn of war Dark Crusade meaning we would get chaos, space marines, imperial guard, tau, orks, necrons, and eldar to play around with. Star wars though? I haven't a clue how they would work that one into a total war styled game. Maybe planets will function like settlments and you would be able to build fleets and train armies from them? blockading a planet instead of besieging it and landing an army to invade and take said planet? That would work for making a truely massive Starwars total war aswell as a 40k total war. I see em releasing 40k total war first, as warhammer is ca's thing at the moment, then starwars, cause fantasy has been ca's thing for awhile, and finally WWI. Ideally I'd say they should release WWI total war first, then starwars, and finally warhammer.

For more recent players trying to understand older ones comments about recent historical games being "not historical" (I'm somewhat in the middle): it's not specifically about the historical accuracy itself but about their old formula:
    - armies not requiring commander to be able to move and fight
    - units without hp with kill chance calculated depending on different factors
    - sieges that actually work and are intense with defense structures being meaningful
    - technologies actually unlocking new units and buildings
    - unit formations
    - deeper strategy systems like proper population, growth
    Etc.
CA made a lot of small changes with each new game that combined into Total War formula drifting further and further from what attracted original fans of the series
My personal take is that I'm annoyed that whenever CA design a system that actually works and is something worth developing they immiedieatly abandon it in the next game instead of improving

    Personally I'm wondering about a few things;
How much a Warhammer 40K Total War will differ itself from the Dawn of War series (or whether that's old enough that we need not worry)?
What trilogies will feature in a Star Wars Total War and how you'd transition between them (perhaps an event causes the Republic, then later Empire, to fall and your clan then chooses loyalties between the successors)?
How will a World War One Total War deal with the Firepower Revolution and the shift in urban combat from Wall and Street Fighting to Barricade and House to House fighting?
As the big block units of previous Total War games would be shredded by machine guns more than they were against the Gatling Guns in Fall of the Samurai as rapid fire weapons are more ubiquitous by 1914 and even rifle infantry have a far faster rate of fire than previous eras with British Rifle Infantry in 1914 being trained to fire 15 aimed shots a minute as a base line (with some being able to manage up to 42 in the Mad Minute competitions) not to mention the range of artillery in the first world war and the increased size of the battlefield compared to previous conflicts.

I love total war warhammer and all, but damn i really be needing something historical. I loved rome, empire, shogun. I want that so bad, with updated graphics. I just hope it isn't bad, that they don't dumb it down thinking "we got to dumb it down and make it simple so that new players understand.
Example of this, look at battlefront 1 from EA. when we all head EA was making a new battlefront, how many of us thought it'd be like the og battlefront? how many people thought "omg we're getting a battlefield set in star wars?!" it was so hyped, and then it came out and it was hardly like battlefield. It was similar, but not it, and it feels like they dumbed it super down so that new players (as star wars is huge, it's going to bring people who've never played battlefield, or in the previous case, RTS/Total wars before) could jump in and understand the game easily. Even battlefront 2, it feels (although not AS much) dumbed down from something like battlefield which it is obviously trying to replicate without full diving into a battlefield experience.
I want the game to keep its total war feel, but seeing as whenever it comes to huge IP's like Star Wars , I'm extremely afraid that Total War Star Wars will come out looking like a saga or worst

What I am actually most excited for is oddly enough for them to move on from Warhammer III, I just want them to give us whatever cool shit they got planned and then let the modders cook, so tired of my game being broken by the seemingly endless updates.

I am a huge Star Wars Fan, but also long for the next historical entry, preferably Medieval 3. Therefore I am both happy and disappointed at the same time.

While I love Star Wars, I struggle to see how it will work in a Total War game. Total War has always been formation based, and even with the addition of heroes and monsters in recent games I can't see them holding up a Total War game on its own. Star Wars just does not have formation warfare (unless you're battle droids I guess). I can see how a loose formation system that heavily utilises cover mechanics could work for WWI or 40k, but even they don't seem fit for a Total War game.

If the Star wars one has space battles it might be amazing.

I understand they want a hero inspired play style, but experience soldiers are heroes too, just not invincible lol

I dont know how to feel about the Star Wars one. I dont think Creative Assembly will properly overhaul the battle and battlemap system for this game. I am still interested to see where this goes. Maybe I will be wrong, I hope.

I don't really have much faith that the total war games will be good, but I am very curious to see how a Star Wars Total War would go, though potentially more interested in a WW1 Total War, if it comes out.

I think the biggest concern I have is the attitude that CA has had. The biggest of which being the statement regarding the potential lifetime of the Star Wars TW has to “attract a large audience pool and have a long DLC plan” it just screams that it will be a shell of a game filled with of issues that you have to spend hundreds of dollars in dlc just to make it a playable experience
