5 for basic skins, 10 for higher quality skins with custom effects or voicelines. Nexon is being greedy esp when TFD is the new kid on the block that has a lot of growing to so. When they act predatory it will cause players to not spend and eventually leave.

5 to 10 exactly. You want a different appearance than the base model. I don't know how they equate the effort it takes to create the skins, how many hours it takes the team and artists to implement into the game. I started FF14 after about 300 hours of TFD and the prices for skins are almost a steal in comparison to TFD. Dyes are now being monetized? Well, TFD thinks so.
Yes they're expensive, 10 bucks should be highest price for the regular stuff, and most importantly, they gotta be universal, why do we have to buy the same skin more than once!! It's ridiculous
Zero, I paid for the battle pass. 10 bucks were pretty ok to me. I like default looking stuff and the stuff I can get for free. I care about the gameplay and the grind.
I agree. I bought slot space and then bought in the battle pass. At least I got a better value than spending it on one freaking skin. I feel so stupid because of this though. They don't have to gate keep space if people enjoy there game. I will only be spending $40 dollars max. Once I hit that cap, I gave nexon my support, and that is that.
Everything on this game is incredibly expensive, $10.00 is the most I would pay for a skin. The worst part is those skins that are the same for all characters having to be bought individually is just wrong. It is the same skin, I should not have to pay individually for each character.
I love this game but, yes it is very pricey, i come from playing Warframe where i spent over $1000, great things they did was, you bought a new ultimate you got caliber with it. I hope they do this one day, as i do not mind supporting any great free to play game, but $150+ for the ultimate no caliber and just extra skins not worth it. I would have bought so many skins on this game alone if they were cheaper. Discounted skins would be also great..
Yeah! If they sold skins as a bundle and included more stuff that add more value to the purchase, like for example: Universal skins and add some Caliber so that you can buy colours to paint that skin. Sweet stuff like that would usually encourage more people that care about cosmetics and visuals not only to buy, but also to feel better when playing the game and thus stay and play it more. When I refer to universal skins, I'm not talking about character-exclusive skins, but the skins that can be used for multiple characters, which could require only one purchase and be available to all characters who can use them. But if they don't plan to do any of that, they could reduce prices by 30% or more to be worth it.
Another idea would be for there to be a "Halloween" or whatever themed event that allows players a chance at obtaining new promoted skins after goals are met in game. Paying $15 for a skin sucks. Then add more $ to get creative and paint it. 😮💨
@RealAsianRobot Never exclude "bonus" from the purchase calcs! I did the math. The smallest bundle is 53 calibur per USD. The largest bundle is 58 calibur per USD! There are five bundles! Nexon has done the bare minimum in pricing to be allowed to call it "bonus"! Practically, there is zero reason to every up-buy the bigger calibur bundles! If you want to buy something, and can buy it with one $5 bundle and one $10, DO THAT! Dont get the $25!!! Frigging pointless and its thievery too!
If they adjusted the prices (lower), make buying the universal skins once instead of per character, and colors being only a single use the fashion in this game would be amazing.
If they cut the prices, they will sell way more caliber and make a huge amount more money. In addition, when you see pretty much everyone with custom skins and paints, the FOMO will entice you to also spend some money. Greed is costing them money.
In some “gacha” type games a skin can cost $100 and the characters at their maximum potential can cost between $1000 to $1500 depending on your luck, since getting the character only once has its potential limited to less than half, so you need to get it 7 times in total, paying $10 or $20 for TFD skins is nothing compared to that, plus we have the option of a discount on the price of the ultimate skin if you get the Ult Descendant first by farming, I don't mind the prices here
Let’s say they are currently priced for maximized profit, but this limits the enjoyment to fewer people. While they are make slightly less at lower prices, it improves the enjoyment of the game to a larger audience thus players will play more and keep the game going longer. Making more money in the long run. Maybe they could have in game activities that you can earn a discounted price, but the whales can still buy at full price if they don’t want to earn it.
This is something I have thought about. Buying skins with friends and working on outfits together is literally a huge part of games like this. We all like to look cool and show off and when your friends spend, you tend to spend as well. This is a factor they are missing out on. Fashion is key.
9:38 It's worth keeping in mind that the devs have the data on our spending habits. I've made this argument myself a dozen times, but the truth is they make more money selling less skins to less people at inflated prices. I think it's okay for games to have outrageous prices for their microtransactions as long as they offer some equally lucrative cosmetics that cannot be purchased. Even a 90/10 split for "paid luxury" versus "earned achievement" would go a long way in my opinion. Path of Exile is a really good example that comes to mind. The game is F2P, the purchasable skins are expensive, but the seasonal content offers exclusive and high fidelity cosmetics that rewards players who would rather spend their time than their money. Great video as usual, and if they change anything then I hope it is the dye system because right now I feel satisfied when purchasing a skin but feel scammed when I go to dye them!
2-3USD for common, 5 USD for purples, 10-20 for Ultimates depending on quality, 25-30 if you do ultimate bundle. Old League of Legends prices back on launch seemed fair.
I think they should do a system like warframe and implement a daily login system. Each day you log in you get stuff like 8 Macromolecule biogel or 4 murky energy residue. More rarely you could get a catalyst or energy activator blueprint. Then rarer than that, you could get a 48 hour Discount Token, where for the next 2 days if you make purchase in the shop it will be at a 50% or 75% discount.
Great that you have addressed this. Great ideas, what about leaderboards with certain challenges for certain timeframe to win free skin but you can for example complete 10 out of 15 challenges since some might require team play and fee players might be solo players.
I doubt winning a free skin would work, but it might be alright to win discount coupons etc. It is definitely something that they could consider and I hope they take my advice once I've collected feedback
the problem is that some of us come from warframe and we are getting a more friendly customization system with infinite use color that are cheap and some pallets come with all the gamma, basic skins that can be recolor. and discount system for some of the skins. and they allow talent players to submit skins and get a cut (tennogen). also i wont pay more that 10 usd for a skin and you have to show how much love you put into that skin and the FOMO i really hate that.
I 100% agree that the skins are too expensive. I hope nexon is watching this. Skins do not affect gameplay, and I see no reason for them to reduce the price by 20% overall, especially older skins. Price reduction would encourage more players to purchase skins, and provide another opportunity to enjoy gameplay for players that don't have steady income source.
I might invest in a few skins if I didnt have to prioritize preset and desecendant slots because I get more out of the game investing in giving me more actual playable options rather than a very limited vanity item. They could atleast allow skins to fit a set amount of descendants if theyre charging $15 a pop..
Im a big trout, not quite a whale. I think their to high. I bought 50 usd in calubur, to sorta price match sinceni got 400 hrs in the game. 2 battle passes a 10$ bunny skin , the guyver lepic skin, red ult valby skin and Maid Valby. THEN, you have to consider how much to re color them, say 200 calibur atleast if uve not been lucky with paint. Made bunny pretty with the white robot skin with gold, black, pink. Makes me happy. Thats a 13$ bunny skin atleast. If the skin were half the cost, or paint was cheap, id be inclined to drop a 100$ on usd for skins and battle passes. Currently its way excessive for the average person.

Id also be willung to a bundle of acessories, likechest itemz, spawn ins and back packs, but there maybe just not be enough of them yet. TFDs new and the content got ate up by the players quick so devs have done great at keeping up.

I come from CoD so I know a thing or two about skins and battle passes. YES, theyre expensive but they dont vanish in thin air like CoD, where you buy skins (you only see your character on a few ocasions and a few modes) and when the next CoD comes all your skins, weapons, stickers, camo are gone. In that regard The First Descendant respects your purchases more, also not all, but a lot of skins look great, the only thing I dont like is that you have to buy colors separately and its a single use, and thing I dislike the most is that you cant color your Ultimate Descendants. Anyway, The First Descendant is my favorite game and even though the skins are kind of expensive I dont mind paying for them and support a game that I have enjoyed for over 400 hours, and thats why Im BUYING Ultimate Freyna, shes my favorite character and her Ultimate skins are sexy AF. I think sometimes people think that a free to play game, means free to make (or develop) no its not, the have to pay the devs, and it also needs to make money to the company thats behind the game, and this devs are at a STELLAR level when it comes to listen to the community and improve the game at a constant rate, so Im all for support a game that I enjoy and that rejects all the woke crap that has infected western games.
Yeah, I've been addicted to TFD since early August. I love it. And I actually don't feel the need to buy skins because I love the default ultimate skins enough as it is, that Ultimate Bunny and Ultimate Gley are already perfect in my eyes 😅. Freyna and Viessa do have beautiful faces worth being shown at all times, so I might buy head skins for them at some time. I'm still very livid that I missed out on that long black hair skin for Viessa, though. I just didn't have enough time to earn it.
Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you want to support the game. However, I have to say that more sales are better long term. The devs are doing a stellar job, but I'm worried about sustainability. On a small scale, even my business becomes less sustainable as player (i.e. viewer) counts drop and I end up having to lean more on my supporters. TFD can only lean for so long to maintain their dev team, hence I want to help them while they find their audience. So believe me when I say, what I'm doing is for their good, I want this game to succeed and be the biggest!
I also like Ultimate Viessa "regular" skin. And I love "regular" Ultimate Bunny skin, the only thing I dont like is the grey helmet, I dont like it at all thats why I think you should be able to paint the "regular" Ultimate Descendants.
@@varsinzo4844 I do hope they look into changing the paint system, similar to how Destiny 2 changed their paint (forgot what they were called on there) system sometime soon after launch. They should make at least some cool paints earnable and permanent (probably all permanent), maybe as a reward for their upcoming mega dungeon.
11:59 Warframe does this discount coupon thing every week when logged in, and if TFD Devs lowers the price of these skins, they would make banks of money. $20 skins, like the Twisted Worship Set, we should be able to get them at 15-$13, and ultimate bunds that cost $60 should be lowered to 30-$25; they would make sales of these prices, just my opinion. The most important thing that should be addressed is colors; they should be permeated to all skins.
I'm a whale probably, and I'm annoyed with the skins in bundles. I'd be happier if those bundles were just skins, and didn't include Catalysts, Energy Reactor, and a character slot. All things I either don't need or can and want to farm myself. This time around I've told myself I'm not buying their bundles. I'm someone who would happily pay 5 for regular skins, 10 for really fancy ones. However, I really want them to stop the practice of buying the same overly priced skin for each character thing. I find that a bit frustrating and has definitely turned me away from those skins. Let me spend 15 bucks for that skin, and let me use it on whatever character can use it please.
I have a bunch of solutions 1: weekly / daily bundles: that gives more caliber then what 1usd can buy + extra stuff like paint or basic material or even random amorphous material and this daily bundle can have levels ether 3 levels or higher which get expensive when going higher or each consistent day of buying the bundle will level up this bundles. 2: monthly subscription: where it either give the player few benefits like temporarily exclusive spawn / emote and this description either gives the player caliber per day until the end of the subscription or gives disconnect at least 10% to almost everything in the game 3: money for bundles: like the ultimate bundles but for money instead of caliber. Bundles include skins + paint (more than one or your choice) weapon's/ attachment/ emote.... Basically most of the customization options 4: chosen bundle: 3_6 bundles with each bundle has 3_6 slots of lists the first slot is descendant and changing to ultimate descendant with the bundle you buy same for the other slots and what they offer they become better and provide more customization options. And for caliber either you choose to be on a the slot that is made for it or just comes with the bundle. 4: VIP: VIP level pretty self-explanatory right? Basically spending money increase your vip level and with each level of VIP you get exclusive items such as skins / emote/ spawn / gold / kuiper/ caliber Or basically just permanent buffs like x% consumable drop x% xp gains . . . And more and increase the percentage depending on the level OR just gives discount with the higher the level you become Or maybe all above why not 5: a level/ membership: where either or both buying and spending caliber will increase the level of that membership. After reaching the max level you become a better membership and with becoming you maintaining that level if you keep spending/ buying the amount of caliber that you required to maintain it. The benefits of it is (More caliber when purchasing / discounts / special offers/ ect..) 6: groth packs: giving caliber for each mastery rank you achieve and with the higher mastery rank you beome the more caliber you get OR getting caliber through ( leveling up descendants/ weapons unlocking/ new maps completing quests) 7:trade: yep the most unwanted idea its just worth mentioning even though there are not a lot of stuff to trade like descendants parts or weapons but selling ( core's / weapons / external components) with good attribute might worth it because not everyone willing to spend a lot of time in the game 8: price changing and more options: it always better with more options. Like more bundles with different prices. Or the skins that buying them for each descendant have an option For buying the skin for only 1 descendant or buy it for 3 descendants which that gives an a discount or buying it for all descendants with discount of course that's for who want to buy the skin for each or just want for one or few 9: sacrifice: which is changing the descendant or the ultimate descendant for an available skin Of course the skins of the ultimate descendant exchange is different then the change of the normal descendant 10: useing a different currency new or old one to buy premium stuff like customizations and of course it will be rare and time consuming That's all I have for now at least sorry if there is any mistake in my typing and if something is unclear I can explain it. First off, great videos! Keep it up 💯. I like to customize my characters but these prices are crazy for no special effects, buffs or bonuses. I'll spend $20 for some caliber on rare occasions to speed up certain research. Outside of that, the prices across the board are ridiculous. The fact there's no discount for owning a few Catalysts, Energy Activator or Descendant Slots is a slap to the face.
Skins are too expensive and what really turns me off is the fact that I can’t get something for 5 dollars it cost like 7 really. So I’m forced to buy a 10 dollar pack. Or something being 15 so I’m forced to buy the 20 dollar pack. That alone makes me not buy caliber other than for the battle pass
Yeah, I think it's a little crazy. Especially when you have to purchase a color and it's a one time purchase and you have to purchase it over and over again. I feel like once you purchase a color scheme. You should be able to keep that 1.
I'm only getting skins for the descendants i use a lot. and ill only get one. What they don't understand is that skins create a bond with the player since you'll be able to tune it to your taste making the player enjoy the game more.
This is a factor many devs and even viewers miss out on. When we have a skin it makes us feel connected to the character and we love that. So I genuinely hope they make it so more people can get skins and therefore are more willing to spend overall!
Bro my thought is this, if Nexon wants to charge $20 for a skin it should be unlocked for all the characters the skin can be used on. It’s ridiculous that you’d have to pay $20 for each character that you want a skin for. Second we should not have to pay for painting skins that’s criminal I don’t know why that’s a thing
I agree with everything you said. $10 max for skins. And offer discounts or promotions. And plz stop charging for every color. I bought the battle pass but still have but individual paints for each character is ridiculous. At the very least allow to use the paints for any descendant once i buy it
The problem is that the skin isn't $15. It's $20 because you have to over spend on the 1000 Caliber pack and not just buy the item outright. $15 isn't the worst by far but I agree what what others have been saying, $5 for the the base recolors and $10 for the rest. I can see $15 for the ones that evolve. But allow us to buy them outright and not over spend on packs.
God, I hate to be this guy... I totally agree TLD skins are too expensive, but (as an American) your math to justify it is just not "realistic" in the real world. Without, going into a bunch of detail, $7.25 USD per hour is laughable. First, state minimums are higher, and only minors/dependents get by on minimum wage..."No one" in America is surviving on $ 7.25 USD as a head of household without government subsidies and/or additional income... Just punch in $15 USD per hour. It's much closer to the real cost...which is "still" too expensive, for TLD skins. This coming from someone with 550+ hours in the game and still really enjoying it. Generic skins should be able to be used on all same sex characters and if you buy a color you should be able to use it on any skins. It’s wild how much money the skins are .
the price is ok for me. im from Holland and minimum wage here is 15 - 18 per hour. I personaly think they should drop the multi purchase for the same outfit. one purchase for all characters, no discounts on skins from that season they do that then everyone will wait until the skin is on sale. they lose to much money that way if the skin is on discount in the Next season that would be fine than the people who want to buy the skin can buy it knowing that the skin is not on a discount next week. while giving people that dont have a lot of money the option to buy it cheaper later
I say they probably need a discount on it but on older skins so when they put a new skin out the people who want it right away can pay the top dollar and then over time they can discount it.
i would say that even 10 bucks is a lot, some of these skins doesnt feel like it took them that much time to make, like Gentlemanly is 375 calibers, it's like 7-8 bucks i think ? there's nothing crazy with it but i feel like for it's price, it's fine. for the twisted worship set, no, it's not worth 15 bucks, like if you compare the actual Lepic ultimate pack (with only a slot and his skin) since i already got Lepic it's worth 20, but to me it's worth it, he look really good and cool to my taste. if you want to make your skin cost that much, it need to follow a really high standard. and anything more then 20 dollars is dumb and greedy for a skin. So i would say skin should cost around 7-10 bucks and at wost 20 for high quality skins (and paints should not even exist in the way it is but i guess it should cost way way less then what it is right now)
Oh and yeah they shouldnt sell back attachment/Spawn in any pack, you should be able to buy them individually and being able to use them on any descendant, and get out these useless energy activator and catalyst that are only there to make the pack cost more. i would enjoy to buy skins for this game but it's not reasonable when you see these price

If I see something I like, I buy it. I also take in consideration that these developers must get paid as well for all the hard work they put in. Making a game like this isn’t easy and the game is also FTP. You don’t want to spend your money, then don’t. Just don’t knock those who do. Their money, their choice.
For me personally the price was okay. But I didn't like where you need buy the same costume for every descendant , quite too greedy tbh. also the problem with Ultimate Bundles , the price feels not right with 3k Caliber ( if you already have the Descendant ) if you remove the 2 catalyst & 1 activator its literally only 1200 caliber for the teleport animation & costume ( yes you can buy the costume only with 1k caliber , but the backwear & teleport animation didn't justify the +2k caliber , especially if you take a look on activator & catalyst price ) . wish they could address this Bundle situation , because I really love Bunny & Gley teleport animation and I would buy it if not because the problem I said. I hope they can consider their sales policy , it's better number in sales with lower price instead only get small sales in high price.
I don't like the fact that universal skins that can be used on any male/female descendant have to be bought separately for each of them. I don't have an issue with exclusives for each one like Valvy and Viessas swimsuit skins. Also, they really missed the mark by not putting a swimsuit skin for bunny.

I whale in games I like, in the beginning I purchased the ultimate skins to help the company, because I'm enjoying the game. These prices are not the worst destiny has skins I purchased for $20 each. I buy what I like. I have the bundles that just came out minus viessa. And I'm definitely getting Freyna bundle when it drops, I have no issue with the store skins but more or less activator and catalyst those are priced way to high
No worries. Glad to have some whales around. However, what would you consider whaling? I hope it would be close to $2000 per month, as would be what they need to keep going. Hence the issue of why I want them to reduce prices. Even if they want people to whale, there is a limit to how much people can whale on the game and it's not sustainable long term to focus solely on that. They would make more by drawing in the whole population instead.

If its for Feyna or Viessa I'm good because I use them a lot ( yes I know I'm weak 😂😂) but for other I think the price should be 10$. If they want to keep them at the same price, the skins should be at least universal in my opinion.

I'd be more likely to buy skins if there were more ways to obtain paints and use those paints on multiple skins. I want the option to make the skin my own. I want the option to be unique. In terms of what I'd be happy with around $10 for a base skin and $15 for an evolving skin would seem right to me. I think it's worth considering what other games charge. In comparison, Call of Duty skins cost around $20 for base skins but these are usually bundled with weapon blueprints (skins), weapon charms and other associated rubbish. That's (predominantly) a first-person shooter and you don't even see them on your character when playing, however, from experience, I know CoD players buy a lot of skins. At least you see your character in TFD so buying skins in TFD is actually worth it (up to a point).
I would definitely buy spawns if they were sold separately, but I don't see the point of the price if that's all I want. They should continue to offer the bundle, but if you have the other items in it, you should be able to discount individual items also.
I have a problem with repeatedly buying the same skin for multiple characters. I understand that they have to make money however this model is not consumer friendly. They should be a universal one time purchase. If there is a unique skin for a particular descendant then ok, that's fine but saying that I do think that Nexon should lower their prices.
One of the main issues that I have with the skin prices is how they skew the prices on Caliber to where you have to spend more than the actual price for a skin. For example the new twisted worship set as you mentioned is $15 so 750 Caliber but there is no option to buy 750 Caliber you have to buy the 1000 Caliber option. So instead of the Twisted Worship Set being 15$ it's basically $20. I agree that setting the skin prices to $10 would be a nice middle ground but only if Caliber prices are changed otherwise nothing really changes you'll still need to shell out 20 bones per skin. Also to bounce off some of the potential solutions you mentioned; one solution that would be great is if they allowed us to buy parts of an outfit separately. I really like the new Bunny head skin but not so much the outfit. I would have brought the head skin if given the option.
I feel like it's probably not going to happen that they'll let us buy bundle items separately. Call of Duty and Fortnite have basically figured it out a long time ago that bundles are very lucrative for them. We only want one item, but they jam bundles with a lot of worthless items as an excuse to jack up the price of the item we actually want, and have the audacity to say that we're actually getting the items at a discount.
2 things. You are correct about people being discouraged by not having access to skins due to financial reasons. Thast 100% in life, with clothes, cars, homes, and everything you do or see. Whales, unfortunately, typically account for roughly 98% of a mobile or free to play games income. With that in mind, it's highly doubtful they will lower the price. I have bought most of the stuff myself, bought every character because I didn't want to spend the time grinding. With all that said, I also haven't bought certain things because it is just digital, the games 95% grind in the end. I do like the mechanics and love playing different characters, but in the end you just have to decide if a skin is something you really enjoy and want to buy. No matter what, it's lose lose because the game won't be around forever, and whatever you spend you won't have anything to show for it in a few years most likely anyways.
See that's the wrong mentality (the last part). I'm glad you're okay spending to support and I'm fine with that too, however, we should want games to last long and not be a short term thing. Warframe has lasted over 10 years, it should not be the case for this to fizzle out in 1 year. I want this game to be a long term success and although whales are big, this isn't a mobile game and I can confirm whales here are 50% or less of the total income, the other 50% comes from the rest of the population and that's what I want to focus on increasing, whales will spend regardless after all
@RealAsianRobot I hope it does, I do like the game and mechanics. Hopefully, in 15 years it will be. I'm older though, been playing games since the 80s. Seen alot come and go. The only part of the game I think is a bit much is the wall you tend to hit, and the amount of time it takes to overcome that wall without paying. It's a bit punishing on a new player with only 2 characters. I do think the game will be actively supported and thrive, even if the player count doesn't go through the roof for at least 5 years, bare minimum.
Yeah 5 for basics and 10 for higher.. But the fact that you have to buy colors is stupid. That's an 2015 business model and it's not substainable in the long run. I've bought skins back in the days for games but the charging money for each color is stupid. I can't do it. Not being able to customize our characters with colors is only going to hurt the game in the long run.
Any non animated skin above 5 usd or euros is excessive, they only cost X to make and the potential reward is infinitely worth more than any "love and care" put into creating it. Even more so if they are weapon skins. CoD has gotten away (for a decade plus) with overpricing cheapily made skins and created a whole market for everyone else to do it aswell...
I believe the highest priced skin I seen was around 750 in-game currency. Which that's going to be around $20 drop. Some are less some go for around 450 in the game currency which is around $10. Also you have to consider coloring your outfits That's not too expensive that ranges between 50 to 100 in-game currency. However when it comes to fully decking out or dressing up your favorite character yes it can easily reach around $50-$60 per character. And the fact that outfits are non-universal and despite it being for women or men. 😂 You have to buy separately per character adds on to the bill. Same thing goes for colors! Putting it in that perspective it's really not worth investing for skins unless you really want it that's what I say. But prices need to be marked down a tag bit to be fair
I generally look at how much I play a free to play game and if I enjoy it and have sunk some hours in I'll pick up a skin or something, when universal skins are bound to one character, thats a big red flag, I think they shouldn't be bound to one character, 10 usd seems a fair price for a skin to me, then you can pick up a handful and end up paying same as a full price game, when companies want the price of a game for 1 skin, it's not enticing, and most the skins you can't even buy. I like the ultimate bunny skin, but by the time I farmed the character it s no longer for sale, ripperino.
They should make skins worn by multiple characters a one time purchase for all otherwise I'll just get what I can with leftover cash from buying a game like I do with majority of free to play games
This rate per hour of work isn’t factoring the taxes that get taken out of each paycheck which ranges from 20-30%. So, really, minimum wage is more so about $5.44 USD per hour take home after taxes
Charging us for a color with each skin is absolutely Criminal on my opinion. That right there makes me want to leave this game because it's nickel and diming the community and I love this game and I support this game but some changes need to happen when it comes to the colors and I wish UA-camrs would make light of this
For a F2P game, pay for costume is fair. I cannot blame for it. It dont affect the gameplay. Buuuuuuut!!! We could discuss about the value of packages. Is it worth for only 1 costume or not? How to fiz it? Buy only packages that worth for it. Statistics could send a message too.... For me... Biquinis always are the best options, and is cheaper to make...
Edit: Price rant aside, im pretty sure the average player isnt the target audience for skin prices, there's over 10,000 registered content creators on the website. If all of those buy the ultimate packs for "stream content" the developers are making millions per ultimate pack. So the skin prices are obviously going to stay the same. Don't know what the exchange rate is but the skins are way to expensive in the UK. £85 for an ultimate descendant skin is more than most brand new games at £69. Recolour skins as well for £12 let alone the price they are charging for the rest of them, its just extortionate.
Just want to correct a few things: - There are only 4,972 registered Nexon Creators and I believe that is the TOTAL count, so half of those may not even be for TFD. Also most of those creators already quit because they weren't seeing the return on their investment (i.e. huge stream numbers and vid views). Hence why I'm lucky enough to be in the position I'm currently in. Just to cite the source of my information, I am currently the top creator for TFD (global server) so I can see the total creator count, although I don't have more in-depth breakdowns. - And yes, I agree on the skins being overpriced, so I'm keen to know if you'd pay $5 or $10 for a skin :)
I honestly think they should make the skins start from 5$ right by 5 for a higher value skins, normal ult bundles shouldn't be 20 its just too much for a sking and a slot which u can buy 5 slots for 5&, crazy tbh, and also apply colors on all skins, no limited use of colors because it discourages their use, or make colors for 5 caliber, thats my opinion
The universal skins that look 99% the same are a ripoff to have them on other characters. There's two problems honestly, one the prices are abit much and two my lack of confidence in the game in the long-term limits how much I am willing to spend. These are things like the weird design decisions with stuff like invasion.

I played MapleStory back in 2007 and the NX cash aka NEXON these prices are exactly the same except 1 skin in this game is like 5 different outfits compared to this game. This game has 50 and 100 dollars package. This is basically big bang pay to win NEXON prices
Warframe have a % off coupon as login-bonus... Not that common, but they range between 20% - 75% (really rare). That's for the Premium Currency (Platinum)... Really nice to get one of those... And the prices on stufdfs in that game are WAY cheaper, too... Sure, that game have been around for about 11 yrs, but still...

I think for normal skins it should $5-10 and for Ultimate and seasonal skins $10-15 thats $5 for a solo Descendant and $10 for a universal Skin and $10 for a solo Ultimate and seasonal skin and $15 for a universal Descendant Ultimate/seasonal skin. That seems fair imo 🤔
I would love to get Gley's Bloody Feast spawn but even at the discounted price for having ultimate Gley already that would be $60 for the bundle. I dont care for the skin so much as I like the Vampire one over the Thirster skin and I also do not need the Energy Activators, Catalysts, or the extra slot. The little wings are cute but work best with the skin they come with. So all I want from that bundle is the spawn but I have to spend $60 to get it so forget that. The bunny bundle I at least like everything in it but again I dont need the consumables or the slot. The Energy Activator alone bumps the price up by 1200 caliber and with the Catalyst and the slot that brings the price of the bundle up by an unnecessary 1850 caliber and makes the attachments only an extra 150 caliber. Which would bring the total cost up to 1300. They could bump it up to 1500 and remove the extras that people that are going to buy those are going to buy them anyway and they would sell more way more 1500 bundles then they will ever sell 3050 bundles. And this is all assuming you already have the ultimate for a descendent because if you dont that bundle is 5000 caliber or basically $100 if you have not bought any caliber at all yet. Its like oh hey we are knocking $40 off the price if you have the descendent already dont worry that it is still $60 for a digital skin. $5, $10, or even $20 tops are decent prices for quality cosmetic content but it feels like they are trying to just ask the full price of the game for a skin in some kind of hope that everyone will just buy one of the skins rather then providing fair priced cosmetics that convince most people to buy more then the price of the game over time. Like $60 for a skin hell no, but 20 skins over the course of a month or two for $10 each well that would be $200 from that player. It makes me wonder how confident they really were in the game and felt they had to price things high to get their money back before the game died off rather then getting that money more over time, or of course it is Nexon so there is just their known greed factor too.

5 for basic skins, 10 for higher quality skins with custom effects or voicelines. Nexon is being greedy esp when TFD is the new kid on the block that has a lot of growing to so. When they act predatory it will cause players to not spend and eventually leave.

This point is exceptionally important, Nexon is the NEW KID on the block and many of the higher quality skins do not have custom effects or voicelines
5 to 10 exactly. You want a different appearance than the base model. I don't know how they equate the effort it takes to create the skins, how many hours it takes the team and artists to implement into the game. I started FF14 after about 300 hours of TFD and the prices for skins are almost a steal in comparison to TFD. Dyes are now being monetized? Well, TFD thinks so.

Everything on this game is incredibly expensive, $10.00 is the most I would pay for a skin. The worst part is those skins that are the same for all characters having to be bought individually is just wrong. It is the same skin, I should not have to pay individually for each character.

I love this game but, yes it is very pricey, i come from playing Warframe where i spent over $1000, great things they did was, you bought a new ultimate you got caliber with it. I hope they do this one day, as i do not mind supporting any great free to play game, but $150+ for the ultimate no caliber and just extra skins not worth it. I would have bought so many skins on this game alone if they were cheaper. Discounted skins would be also great..
This is one of the points of contention they have right now, I fully agree that players need to be getting more values from packs and bundles.
Yeah! If they sold skins as a bundle and included more stuff that add more value to the purchase, like for example: Universal skins and add some Caliber so that you can buy colours to paint that skin. Sweet stuff like that would usually encourage more people that care about cosmetics and visuals not only to buy, but also to feel better when playing the game and thus stay and play it more.
When I refer to universal skins, I'm not talking about character-exclusive skins, but the skins that can be used for multiple characters, which could require only one purchase and be available to all characters who can use them.
But if they don't plan to do any of that, they could reduce prices by 30% or more to be worth it.
Another idea would be for there to be a "Halloween" or whatever themed event that allows players a chance at obtaining new promoted skins after goals are met in game.
Paying $15 for a skin sucks. Then add more $ to get creative and paint it. 😮💨

If they cut the prices, they will sell way more caliber and make a huge amount more money. In addition, when you see pretty much everyone with custom skins and paints, the FOMO will entice you to also spend some money. Greed is costing them money.
This is one of the key points that I think they've missed out on!
In some “gacha” type games a skin can cost $100 and the characters at their maximum potential can cost between $1000 to $1500 depending on your luck, since getting the character only once has its potential limited to less than half, so you need to get it 7 times in total, paying $10 or $20 for TFD skins is nothing compared to that, plus we have the option of a discount on the price of the ultimate skin if you get the Ult Descendant first by farming, I don't mind the prices here

Let’s say they are currently priced for maximized profit, but this limits the enjoyment to fewer people. While they are make slightly less at lower prices, it improves the enjoyment of the game to a larger audience thus players will play more and keep the game going longer. Making more money in the long run.
Maybe they could have in game activities that you can earn a discounted price, but the whales can still buy at full price if they don’t want to earn it.
This is something I have thought about. Buying skins with friends and working on outfits together is literally a huge part of games like this. We all like to look cool and show off and when your friends spend, you tend to spend as well. This is a factor they are missing out on. Fashion is key.
10-15 for just a skin. 20-30 for skin plus animations/effects bundle. 50-100 is way too much and greedy

I've made this argument myself a dozen times, but the truth is they make more money selling less skins to less people at inflated prices. I think it's okay for games to have outrageous prices for their microtransactions as long as they offer some equally lucrative cosmetics that cannot be purchased. Even a 90/10 split for "paid luxury" versus "earned achievement" would go a long way in my opinion.
Path of Exile is a really good example that comes to mind. The game is F2P, the purchasable skins are expensive, but the seasonal content offers exclusive and high fidelity cosmetics that rewards players who would rather spend their time than their money. Great video as usual, and if they change anything then I hope it is the dye system because right now I feel satisfied when purchasing a skin but feel scammed when I go to dye them!

2-3USD for common, 5 USD for purples, 10-20 for Ultimates depending on quality, 25-30 if you do ultimate bundle. Old League of Legends prices back on launch seemed fair.

I think they should do a system like warframe and implement a daily login system. Each day you log in you get stuff like 8 Macromolecule biogel or 4 murky energy residue. More rarely you could get a catalyst or energy activator blueprint. Then rarer than that, you could get a 48 hour Discount Token, where for the next 2 days if you make purchase in the shop it will be at a 50% or 75% discount.
Great that you have addressed this. Great ideas, what about leaderboards with certain challenges for certain timeframe to win free skin but you can for example complete 10 out of 15 challenges since some might require team play and fee players might be solo players.
I doubt winning a free skin would work, but it might be alright to win discount coupons etc.
It is definitely something that they could consider and I hope they take my advice once I've collected feedback
the problem is that some of us come from warframe and we are getting a more friendly customization system with infinite use color that are cheap and some pallets come with all the gamma, basic skins that can be recolor. and discount system for some of the skins. and they allow talent players to submit skins and get a cut (tennogen).
also i wont pay more that 10 usd for a skin and you have to show how much love you put into that skin and the FOMO i really hate that.

I 100% agree that the skins are too expensive. I hope nexon is watching this. Skins do not affect gameplay, and I see no reason for them to reduce the price by 20% overall, especially older skins. Price reduction would encourage more players to purchase skins, and provide another opportunity to enjoy gameplay for players that don't have steady income source.
It would be beneficial regardless for them to reduce prices and leverage on more players spending and purchasing.
I might invest in a few skins if I didnt have to prioritize preset and desecendant slots because I get more out of the game investing in giving me more actual playable options rather than a very limited vanity item. They could atleast allow skins to fit a set amount of descendants if theyre charging $15 a pop..
Im a big trout, not quite a whale. I think their to high. I bought 50 usd in calubur, to sorta price match sinceni got 400 hrs in the game. 2 battle passes a 10$ bunny skin , the guyver lepic skin, red ult valby skin and Maid Valby.
THEN, you have to consider how much to re color them, say 200 calibur atleast if uve not been lucky with paint.
Made bunny pretty with the white robot skin with gold, black, pink. Makes me happy.

Id also be willung to a bundle of acessories, likechest itemz, spawn ins and back packs, but there maybe just not be enough of them yet. TFDs new and the content got ate up by the players quick so devs have done great at keeping up.

I come from CoD so I know a thing or two about skins and battle passes.
YES, theyre expensive but they dont vanish in thin air like CoD, where you buy skins (you only see your character on a few ocasions and a few modes) and when the next CoD comes all your skins, weapons, stickers, camo are gone. In that regard The First Descendant respects your purchases more, also not all, but a lot of skins look great, the only thing I dont like is that you have to buy colors separately and its a single use, and thing I dislike the most is that you cant color your Ultimate Descendants.
Anyway, The First Descendant is my favorite game and even though the skins are kind of expensive I dont mind paying for them and support a game that I have enjoyed for over 400 hours, and thats why Im BUYING Ultimate Freyna, shes my favorite character and her Ultimate skins are sexy AF.
I think sometimes people think that a free to play game, means free to make (or develop) no its not, the have to pay the devs, and it also needs to make money to the company thats behind the game, and this devs are at a STELLAR level when it comes to listen to the community and improve the game at a constant rate, so Im all for support a game that I enjoy and that rejects all the woke crap that has infected western games.
Yeah, I've been addicted to TFD since early August. I love it. And I actually don't feel the need to buy skins because I love the default ultimate skins enough as it is, that Ultimate Bunny and Ultimate Gley are already perfect in my eyes 😅. Freyna and Viessa do have beautiful faces worth being shown at all times, so I might buy head skins for them at some time. I'm still very livid that I missed out on that long black hair skin for Viessa, though. I just didn't have enough time to earn it.
Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you want to support the game. However, I have to say that more sales are better long term. The devs are doing a stellar job, but I'm worried about sustainability.
On a small scale, even my business becomes less sustainable as player (i.e. viewer) counts drop and I end up having to lean more on my supporters. TFD can only lean for so long to maintain their dev team, hence I want to help them while they find their audience.
So believe me when I say, what I'm doing is for their good, I want this game to succeed and be the biggest!
I also like Ultimate Viessa "regular" skin. And I love "regular" Ultimate Bunny skin, the only thing I dont like is the grey helmet, I dont like it at all thats why I think you should be able to paint the "regular" Ultimate Descendants.

They should make at least some cool paints earnable and permanent (probably all permanent), maybe as a reward for their upcoming mega dungeon.

11:59 Warframe does this discount coupon thing every week when logged in, and if TFD Devs lowers the price of these skins, they would make banks of money. $20 skins, like the Twisted Worship Set, we should be able to get them at 15-$13, and ultimate bunds that cost $60 should be lowered to 30-$25; they would make sales of these prices, just my opinion. The most important thing that should be addressed is colors; they should be permeated to all skins.
Warframe still does the discount coupons? The only coupons I've been getting for the past several months are for bonus plat if I buy any.

I'm a whale probably, and I'm annoyed with the skins in bundles. I'd be happier if those bundles were just skins, and didn't include Catalysts, Energy Reactor, and a character slot. All things I either don't need or can and want to farm myself.
This time around I've told myself I'm not buying their bundles.
I'm someone who would happily pay 5 for regular skins, 10 for really fancy ones. However, I really want them to stop the practice of buying the same overly priced skin for each character thing. I find that a bit frustrating and has definitely turned me away from those skins. Let me spend 15 bucks for that skin, and let me use it on whatever character can use it please.

I have a bunch of solutions
1: weekly / daily bundles: that gives more caliber then what 1usd can buy + extra stuff like paint or basic material or even random amorphous material and this daily bundle can have levels ether 3 levels or higher which get expensive when going higher or each consistent day of buying the bundle will level up this bundles.
2: monthly subscription: where it either give the player few benefits like temporarily exclusive spawn / emote and this description either gives the player caliber per day until the end of the subscription or gives disconnect at least 10% to almost everything in the game
3: money for bundles: like the ultimate bundles but for money instead of caliber. Bundles include skins + paint (more than one or your choice) weapon's/ attachment/ emote.... Basically most of the customization options
4: chosen bundle: 3_6 bundles with each bundle has 3_6 slots of lists the first slot is descendant and changing to ultimate descendant with the bundle you buy same for the other slots and what they offer they become better and provide more customization options.
And for caliber either you choose to be on a the slot that is made for it or just comes with the bundle.
4: VIP: VIP level pretty self-explanatory right?
Basically spending money increase your vip level and with each level of VIP you get exclusive items such as skins / emote/ spawn / gold / kuiper/ caliber
Or basically just permanent buffs like
x% consumable drop
x% xp gains
.
.
.
And more and increase the percentage depending on the level
OR just gives discount with the higher the level you become
Or maybe all above why not
5: a level/ membership: where either or both buying and spending caliber will increase the level of that membership. After reaching the max level you become a better membership and with becoming you maintaining that level if you keep spending/ buying the amount of caliber that you required to maintain it. The benefits of it is (More caliber when purchasing / discounts / special offers/ ect..)
6: groth packs: giving caliber for each mastery rank you achieve and with the higher mastery rank you beome the more caliber you get
OR getting caliber through ( leveling up descendants/ weapons unlocking/ new maps completing quests)
7:trade: yep the most unwanted idea its just worth mentioning even though there are not a lot of stuff to trade like descendants parts or weapons but selling ( core's / weapons / external components) with good attribute might worth it because not everyone willing to spend a lot of time in the game
8: price changing and more options: it always better with more options. Like more bundles with different prices. Or the skins that buying them for each descendant have an option
For buying the skin for only 1 descendant or buy it for 3 descendants which that gives an a discount or buying it for
all descendants with discount of course that's for who want to buy the skin for each or just want for one or few
9: sacrifice: which is changing the descendant or the ultimate descendant for an available skin
Of course the skins of the ultimate descendant exchange is different then the change of the normal descendant
10: useing a different currency new or old one to buy premium stuff like customizations and of course it will be rare and time consuming

First off, great videos! Keep it up 💯. I like to customize my characters but these prices are crazy for no special effects, buffs or bonuses. I'll spend $20 for some caliber on rare occasions to speed up certain research. Outside of that, the prices across the board are ridiculous. The fact there's no discount for owning a few Catalysts, Energy Activator or Descendant Slots is a slap to the face.
Skins are too expensive and what really turns me off is the fact that I can’t get something for 5 dollars it cost like 7 really. So I’m forced to buy a 10 dollar pack. Or something being 15 so I’m forced to buy the 20 dollar pack. That alone makes me not buy caliber other than for the battle pass

Skin prices are 25% - 30% higher than most games. They need to bring it down a bit. They also need to make paint and customization free.
I'm only getting skins for the descendants i use a lot. and ill only get one. What they don't understand is that skins create a bond with the player since you'll be able to tune it to your taste making the player enjoy the game more.
This is a factor many devs and even viewers miss out on. When we have a skin it makes us feel connected to the character and we love that. So I genuinely hope they make it so more people can get skins and therefore are more willing to spend overall!
$5 for normal skins, $10 for premium skins is very understandable.

Bro my thought is this, if Nexon wants to charge $20 for a skin it should be unlocked for all the characters the skin can be used on. It’s ridiculous that you’d have to pay $20 for each character that you want a skin for. Second we should not have to pay for painting skins that’s criminal I don’t know why that’s a thing
I agree with everything you said. $10 max for skins. And offer discounts or promotions. And plz stop charging for every color. I bought the battle pass but still have but individual paints for each character is ridiculous. At the very least allow to use the paints for any descendant once i buy it

The problem is that the skin isn't $15. It's $20 because you have to over spend on the 1000 Caliber pack and not just buy the item outright. $15 isn't the worst by far but I agree what what others have been saying, $5 for the the base recolors and $10 for the rest. I can see $15 for the ones that evolve. But allow us to buy them outright and not over spend on packs.
5S = Regular skin
10§ = Rare skin
20S to 30S= Ultimate/Event/Limited/Rerun skin
+ Some skin can be use on multiple descendant

God, I hate to be this guy... I totally agree TLD skins are too expensive, but (as an American) your math to justify it is just not "realistic" in the real world. Without, going into a bunch of detail, $7.25 USD per hour is laughable. First, state minimums are higher, and only minors/dependents get by on minimum wage..."No one" in America is surviving on $ 7.25 USD as a head of household without government subsidies and/or additional income...
Just punch in $15 USD per hour. It's much closer to the real cost...which is "still" too expensive, for TLD skins.

Generic skins should be able to be used on all same sex characters and if you buy a color you should be able to use it on any skins. It’s wild how much money the skins are .

the price is ok for me. im from Holland and minimum wage here is 15 - 18 per hour. I personaly think they should drop the multi purchase for the same outfit. one purchase for all characters, no discounts on skins from that season they do that then everyone will wait until the skin is on sale. they lose to much money that way if the skin is on discount in the Next season that would be fine than the people who want to buy the skin can buy it knowing that the skin is not on a discount next week. while giving people that dont have a lot of money the option to buy it cheaper later

I say they probably need a discount on it but on older skins so when they put a new skin out the people who want it right away can pay the top dollar and then over time they can discount it.
i would say that even 10 bucks is a lot, some of these skins doesnt feel like it took them that much time to make, like Gentlemanly is 375 calibers, it's like 7-8 bucks i think ? there's nothing crazy with it but i feel like for it's price, it's fine. for the twisted worship set, no, it's not worth 15 bucks, like if you compare the actual Lepic ultimate pack (with only a slot and his skin) since i already got Lepic it's worth 20, but to me it's worth it, he look really good and cool to my taste. if you want to make your skin cost that much, it need to follow a really high standard. and anything more then 20 dollars is dumb and greedy for a skin. So i would say skin should cost around 7-10 bucks and at wost 20 for high quality skins (and paints should not even exist in the way it is but i guess it should cost way way less then what it is right now)
Oh and yeah they shouldnt sell back attachment/Spawn in any pack, you should be able to buy them individually and being able to use them on any descendant, and get out these useless energy activator and catalyst that are only there to make the pack cost more. i would enjoy to buy skins for this game but it's not reasonable when you see these price

A 750 caliber skin is about $13. That's not too bad, but more than I would really want to pay. I'd prefer under $10.
If I see something I like, I buy it. I also take in consideration that these developers must get paid as well for all the hard work they put in.

For me personally the price was okay. But I didn't like where you need buy the same costume for every descendant , quite too greedy tbh.
also the problem with Ultimate Bundles , the price feels not right with 3k Caliber ( if you already have the Descendant ) if you remove the 2 catalyst & 1 activator its literally only 1200 caliber for the teleport animation & costume ( yes you can buy the costume only with 1k caliber , but the backwear & teleport animation didn't justify the +2k caliber , especially if you take a look on activator & catalyst price ) . wish they could address this Bundle situation , because I really love Bunny & Gley teleport animation and I would buy it if not because the problem I said.
I hope they can consider their sales policy , it's better number in sales with lower price instead only get small sales in high price.
I don't like the fact that universal skins that can be used on any male/female descendant have to be bought separately for each of them. I don't have an issue with exclusives for each one like Valvy and Viessas swimsuit skins. Also, they really missed the mark by not putting a swimsuit skin for bunny.

Yes they are expensive. I buy them. But I think they are way too much. The colors are ridiculous. Why dont they do color charts like warframe. You have to buy a white for every single descendant.

I whale in games I like, in the beginning I purchased the ultimate skins to help the company, because I'm enjoying the game. These prices are not the worst destiny has skins I purchased for $20 each. I buy what I like. I have the bundles that just came out minus viessa. And I'm definitely getting Freyna bundle when it drops, I have no issue with the store skins but more or less activator and catalyst those are priced way to high
No worries. Glad to have some whales around. However, what would you consider whaling? I hope it would be close to $2000 per month, as would be what they need to keep going.
Hence the issue of why I want them to reduce prices. Even if they want people to whale, there is a limit to how much people can whale on the game and it's not sustainable long term to focus solely on that.

If its for Feyna or Viessa I'm good because I use them a lot ( yes I know I'm weak 😂😂) but for other I think the price should be 10$. If they want to keep them at the same price, the skins should be at least universal in my opinion.

I'd be more likely to buy skins if there were more ways to obtain paints and use those paints on multiple skins. I want the option to make the skin my own. I want the option to be unique. In terms of what I'd be happy with around $10 for a base skin and $15 for an evolving skin would seem right to me.
I think it's worth considering what other games charge. In comparison, Call of Duty skins cost around $20 for base skins but these are usually bundled with weapon blueprints (skins), weapon charms and other associated rubbish. That's (predominantly) a first-person shooter and you don't even see them on your character when playing, however, from experience, I know CoD players buy a lot of skins. At least you see your character in TFD so buying skins in TFD is actually worth it (up to a point).
I would definitely buy spawns if they were sold separately, but I don't see the point of the price if that's all I want. They should continue to offer the bundle, but if you have the other items in it, you should be able to discount individual items also.
I have a problem with repeatedly buying the same skin for multiple characters. I understand that they have to make money however this model is not consumer friendly. They should be a universal one time purchase. If there is a unique skin for a particular descendant then ok, that's fine but saying that I do think that Nexon should lower their prices.
One of the main issues that I have with the skin prices is how they skew the prices on Caliber to where you have to spend more than the actual price for a skin. For example the new twisted worship set as you mentioned is $15 so 750 Caliber but there is no option to buy 750 Caliber you have to buy the 1000 Caliber option. So instead of the Twisted Worship Set being 15$ it's basically $20. I agree that setting the skin prices to $10 would be a nice middle ground but only if Caliber prices are changed otherwise nothing really changes you'll still need to shell out 20 bones per skin. Also to bounce off some of the potential solutions you mentioned; one solution that would be great is if they allowed us to buy parts of an outfit separately. I really like the new Bunny head skin but not so much the outfit. I would have brought the head skin if given the option.
I feel like it's probably not going to happen that they'll let us buy bundle items separately. Call of Duty and Fortnite have basically figured it out a long time ago that bundles are very lucrative for them. We only want one item, but they jam bundles with a lot of worthless items as an excuse to jack up the price of the item we actually want, and have the audacity to say that we're actually getting the items at a discount.

2 things. You are correct about people being discouraged by not having access to skins due to financial reasons. Thast 100% in life, with clothes, cars, homes, and everything you do or see. Whales, unfortunately, typically account for roughly 98% of a mobile or free to play games income. With that in mind, it's highly doubtful they will lower the price. I have bought most of the stuff myself, bought every character because I didn't want to spend the time grinding. With all that said, I also haven't bought certain things because it is just digital, the games 95% grind in the end. I do like the mechanics and love playing different characters, but in the end you just have to decide if a skin is something you really enjoy and want to buy. No matter what, it's lose lose because the game won't be around forever, and whatever you spend you won't have anything to show for it in a few years most likely anyways.
See that's the wrong mentality (the last part). I'm glad you're okay spending to support and I'm fine with that too, however, we should want games to last long and not be a short term thing. Warframe has lasted over 10 years, it should not be the case for this to fizzle out in 1 year.
I want this game to be a long term success and although whales are big, this isn't a mobile game and I can confirm whales here are 50% or less of the total income, the other 50% comes from the rest of the population and that's what I want to focus on increasing, whales will spend regardless after all
@RealAsianRobot I hope it does, I do like the game and mechanics. Hopefully, in 15 years it will be. I'm older though, been playing games since the 80s. Seen alot come and go. The only part of the game I think is a bit much is the wall you tend to hit, and the amount of time it takes to overcome that wall without paying. It's a bit punishing on a new player with only 2 characters. I do think the game will be actively supported and thrive, even if the player count doesn't go through the roof for at least 5 years, bare minimum.
Yeah 5 for basics and 10 for higher.. But the fact that you have to buy colors is stupid. That's an 2015 business model and it's not substainable in the long run. I've bought skins back in the days for games but the charging money for each color is stupid. I can't do it. Not being able to customize our characters with colors is only going to hurt the game in the long run.

Any non animated skin above 5 usd or euros is excessive, they only cost X to make and the potential reward is infinitely worth more than any "love and care" put into creating it. Even more so if they are weapon skins. CoD has gotten away (for a decade plus) with overpricing cheapily made skins and created a whole market for everyone else to do it aswell...
I believe the highest priced skin I seen was around 750 in-game currency. Which that's going to be around $20 drop. Some are less some go for around 450 in the game currency which is around $10. Also you have to consider coloring your outfits That's not too expensive that ranges between 50 to 100 in-game currency. However when it comes to fully decking out or dressing up your favorite character yes it can easily reach around $50-$60 per character. And the fact that outfits are non-universal and despite it being for women or men. 😂 You have to buy separately per character adds on to the bill. Same thing goes for colors! Putting it in that perspective it's really not worth investing for skins unless you really want it that's what I say. But prices need to be marked down a tag bit to be fair
I generally look at how much I play a free to play game and if I enjoy it and have sunk some hours in I'll pick up a skin or something, when universal skins are bound to one character, thats a big red flag, I think they shouldn't be bound to one character, 10 usd seems a fair price for a skin to me, then you can pick up a handful and end up paying same as a full price game, when companies want the price of a game for 1 skin, it's not enticing, and most the skins you can't even buy. This rate per hour of work isn’t factoring the taxes that get taken out of each paycheck which ranges from 20-30%. So, really, minimum wage is more so about $5.44 USD per hour take home after taxes
Charging us for a color with each skin is absolutely Criminal on my opinion. That right there makes me want to leave this game because it's nickel and diming the community and I love this game and I support this game but some changes need to happen when it comes to the colors and I wish UA-camrs would make light of this
For a F2P game, pay for costume is fair. I cannot blame for it. It dont affect the gameplay. Buuuuuuut!!! We could discuss about the value of packages. Is it worth for only 1 costume or not? How to fiz it? Buy only packages that worth for it. Statistics could send a message too.... For me... Biquinis always are the best options, and is cheaper to make...
I don't think it's expensive, but I don't think it's worthy to buy either.
Edit: Price rant aside, im pretty sure the average player isnt the target audience for skin prices, there's over 10,000 registered content creators on the website. If all of those buy the ultimate packs for "stream content" the developers are making millions per ultimate pack. So the skin prices are obviously going to stay the same.
Don't know what the exchange rate is but the skins are way to expensive in the UK.
£85 for an ultimate descendant skin is more than most brand new games at £69. Recolour skins as well for £12 let alone the price they are charging for the rest of them, its just extortionate.
Just want to correct a few things:
- There are only 4,972 registered Nexon Creators and I believe that is the TOTAL count, so half of those may not even be for TFD. Also most of those creators already quit because they weren't seeing the return on their investment (i.e. huge stream numbers and vid views). Hence why I'm lucky enough to be in the position I'm currently in. Just to cite the source of my information, I am currently the top creator for TFD (global server) so I can see the total creator count, although I don't have more in-depth breakdowns.
- And yes, I agree on the skins being overpriced, so I'm keen to know if you'd pay $5 or $10 for a skin :)
I usually buy one of the 125 Calibur Skins , if I want to change colours, or use the ones in the BattlePass ( they are free).
I honestly think they should make the skins start from 5$ right by 5 for a higher value skins, normal ult bundles shouldn't be 20 its just too much for a sking and a slot which u can buy 5 slots for 5&, crazy tbh, and also apply colors on all skins, no limited use of colors because it discourages their use, or make colors for 5 caliber, thats my opinion

There's two problems honestly, one the prices are abit much and two my lack of confidence in the game in the long-term limits how much I am willing to spend. These are things like the weird design decisions with stuff like invasion.
And that is just the basic skins? The ultimate packages are criminally overpriced. If I already have the ultimate character, it shouldn't cost 40-50 bucks for a spawn animation and skin
I played MapleStory back in 2007 and the NX cash aka NEXON these prices are exactly the same except 1 skin in this game is like 5 different outfits compared to this game. This game has 50 and 100 dollars package. This is basically big bang pay to win NEXON prices
Warframe have a % off coupon as login-bonus... Not that common, but they range between 20% - 75% (really rare). That's for the Premium Currency (Platinum)... Really nice to get one of those...
And the prices on stufdfs in that game are WAY cheaper, too...

I think for normal skins it should $5-10 and for Ultimate and seasonal skins $10-15 thats $5 for a solo Descendant and $10 for a universal Skin and $10 for a solo Ultimate and seasonal skin and $15 for a universal Descendant Ultimate/seasonal skin. That seems fair imo 🤔
I would love to get Gley's Bloody Feast spawn but even at the discounted price for having ultimate Gley already that would be $60 for the bundle. I dont care for the skin so much as I like the Vampire one over the Thirster skin and I also do not need the Energy Activators, Catalysts, or the extra slot. The little wings are cute but work best with the skin they come with. So all I want from that bundle is the spawn but I have to spend $60 to get it so forget that. The bunny bundle I at least like everything in it but again I dont need the consumables or the slot. The Energy Activator alone bumps the price up by 1200 caliber and with the Catalyst and the slot that brings the price of the bundle up by an unnecessary 1850 caliber and makes the attachments only an extra 150 caliber. Which would bring the total cost up to 1300. They could bump it up to 1500 and remove the extras that people that are going to buy those are going to buy them anyway and they would sell more way more 1500 bundles then they will ever sell 3050 bundles. And this is all assuming you already have the ultimate for a descendent because if you dont that bundle is 5000 caliber or basically $100 if you have not bought any caliber at all yet. Its like oh hey we are knocking $40 off the price if you have the descendent already dont worry that it is still $60 for a digital skin.
$5, $10, or even $20 tops are decent prices for quality cosmetic content but it feels like they are trying to just ask the full price of the game for a skin in some kind of hope that everyone will just buy one of the skins rather then providing fair priced cosmetics that convince most people to buy more then the price of the game over time.
Like $60 for a skin hell no, but 20 skins over the course of a month or two for $10 each well that would be $200 from that player.
It makes me wonder how confident they really were in the game and felt they had to price things high to get their money back before the game died off rather then getting that money more over time, or of course it is Nexon so there is just their known greed factor too.
